* Allen clutches his keepsake close to his heart and follows the Gaffling in silence...

<Joseph> «ooc: His magic carrot. »
<Allen> «ooc: it was in my bio. Ornamental. »
<Gayo> «ooc: Oh. Right. That. »
* Neydisa follows the creature, the thumping catching her interest in the dark corridors.
* Joseph follows behind everyone else...getting kinda pissed off that this is taking so long.
<Neydisa> You know.. that sounds like.. like a heartbeat.. almost.
* Allen looks to Neydisa and nods, frowning slightly.
<Joseph> No shit...lets just keep going and find out things when we get there.
<Gayo> «ooc: Joseph is a spaaaz. ^_~ »
<Gayo> >> The dim walls sliding slowly by are dark brown and moist, and the air takes on a musty smell. Now and then an arrythmic clacking sound approaches rapidly from nowhere and vanishes behind, all shrouded in darkness.

<Gayo> >> Finally a point of low, pulsating light appears in the distance, growing closer without growing brighter.

<Joseph> «ooc: Allen: besides the corn dogs I brought back fruit too. :) Not its all gone though. »

* Allen squints to make out the shape of the lighted object.
* Joseph walks towards the light. .oO( Bout time this tunnel ended.)
<Gayo> >> The room they arrive in smells strange, vaguely foul, like bile and bad breath. The air is warm and incredibly humid, and the floor yeilds with a soft, wet squish under their feet.
<Gayo> Marlene: Ewww...stinky breath!
* Neydisa follows into the room, shaking her head at the odor. "This is even worse than outside in the swamp..."
<Joseph> «ooc: We are in a drunk's lungs! Where is the booze? »
* Allen regards the squishy footing with distaste.
* Joseph walks into the room, takes a sniff and runs out. He returns to the room with his hood covering his entire face.
<Allen> «ooc: heh heh »
<Gayo> >> With a "poof", a stationary white flame appears nearby, like the one the figure at the altar appeared from. Indeed, his calm, androgynous voice echoes through the room. "This is the limit of my domain. Below I can only accompany you in spirit, via my servant."
<Joseph> Whatever...just get rid of this stinch!
<Joseph> «ooc: ;_; I want a milkshake. »
<Allen> (taking pains to breathe only through his mouth) where do be go dow?
* Neydisa takes notice immediately. "I understand.. this must be where all the negative energy starts from." :/
<Gayo> >> By the light of the flame, the entire room is revealed to be made of slimy, soft pink flesh, interwoven beneath its surface with purple veins the size of a man's arm. In the very center of the room, the ground gives way to a large, ribbed hole, like an esophogous, which throbs to the rhythm of the heartbeat.
<Joseph> «ooc: [Spirit] No...actually I just farted. ^^; »
<Gayo> Figure: Do not mistake that which is foreign for that which is foul...this is the Hidden Heart...it is only as negative as you make it.
<Gayo> Figure: None the less, a tumorous rot lurks at its core, the core which represents your innermost soul.
<Joseph> So if I say this place smells fresh then it will?

<Neydisa> This is.. just very disturbing..

<Gayo> >> The gaffling hovers over the pit, then gradually descends, spinning slowly.
<Allen> well.. here goes... 
<Neydisa> But at least we're not alone... right?
* Allen walks up to the hole and steps in.
<Gayo> Marlene: I don't wanna go in there...it's all slimy! Oh well...I guess I have to. ;_;
* Joseph follows Allen through the hole.
<Allen> «ooc: I guess none of you have seen Being John Malkovich :P »
<Gayo> «ooc: No, but I knew what you meant. ^_^ »
<Joseph> «ooc: I haven't ^^; »
* Neydisa cautiously approaches the opening, hesitating, but then takes the plunge. ^^
<Gayo> >> The flame slowly dies out as the four of them vanish into the blackness. 
<Allen> «ooc: see it! it's cool :) »
<Neydisa> << Maybe sometime. ^^ >>
<Joseph> «ooc: [Gayo] HAHA, you all jumped down the hole! You all die! »
<Gayo> >> After an endless slide through a fleshy, slimy tunnel, they find themselves deposited with a wet splat on a slick surface of some sort, difficult to see in the dark. This floor has more consistency than the tunnel, but is very slippery, and yields little purchase.
<Joseph> «ooc: But I wanted to buy the floor. ;_; »
* Allen wishes that at times like this he had a torch or a *Light spell.
<Gayo> «ooc: Yeah, no kidding, you guys need a Stare Roe shaman. ^_~ »
<Neydisa> << Yeah.. I can't pull that one.. wah :( >>
<Allen> .oO(But then I couldn't read the Crest Graph to cast the spell.  gah, catch 22)
<Gayo> «ooc: The spirit world rules. I could do an entire game like this. ^_^ »
* Neydisa scrambles to footing in the odd living dungeon.
* Joseph slowly stands up...
* Allen stands and waits for a moment to see if his eyes can adjust to darkness any further.
<Neydisa> I don't think even Stare Roe could see in this murky darkness... :/
<Joseph> Who cares.  Where do we go now?
* Allen looks for the Gaffling.
<Allen> (mumble) Where'd he fly off to.. 
<Gayo> >> Eventually the darkness seems a bit less dark, as their eyes slowly adjust. In the faint illumination provided by the gaffling, it becomes clear that the floor is nothing but a giant eyeball embedded into the flesh of the Heart.
* Joseph looks at the eyeball. "Woah...cool."
* Allen freaks out.
<Gayo> Marlene: EEEEEEEEEEEK! *takes a pot shot at the eye*
<Allen> bleeeeeehh!  Lemme outta here! O_o
* Neydisa reaches for her Lighter idly, but finds it's not there... and the floor is an eyeball. o_o
<Gayo> >> Marlene shoots the eye right in the pupil, and it makes a loud "pop" as a stream of sticky goo squirts out the puncture wound.
<Neydisa> Ah, Marlene.. don't make this worse.. ^^
* Allen feels very ill. He may do a sailing encore.
<Gayo> >> Spurting its insides everyhwere, the giant eye shrivels and deflates until all that's left is a husk with a pupil and iris inside.
* Neydisa pales visibly...
* Joseph shakes his head and uses the end of his boomerang to search the remains of the eye.
<Gayo> >> "You don't understand! I did this for everyone!"
<Allen> huh?
* Allen looks for the source of the voice.
<Neydisa> A voice?
* Joseph mumbles to himself.."Well everyone better not include me."
<Gayo> >> Allen sees an ephemeral form which vanishes in an eyeblink.
<Allen> Who are you?
* Allen takes a defensive stance.
<Gayo> >> Lifting up the giant, filmy remains of the eye, Joseph reveals a giant, spiderlike bug crouching under the iris. It clicks its mandibles at him, then burrows into the ground, which seals up behind it.
<Joseph> «ooc: Its Yoda, Gayo just forgot to make the text Yoda like. "Understand you must. For everyone I did." »
<Gayo> >> The area is once again silent except for the sounds of the distant, beating heart, and of Marlene freaking out.
* Neydisa looks around her again, increasingly nervous.
<Neydisa> Wait.. I never noticed.. where is the Princess?
<Neydisa> Shouldn't she be with us all during the trial...
<Joseph> Who cares.
<Gayo> «ooc: Not a good attitude to take towards the most important person in Adlehyde. ^_~ »
<Joseph> «ooc: But thats Joseph for you. ;) »
<Gayo> «ooc: Joseph is a jerk. ^_~ »
<Allen> Perhaps she has her own trial, seeing as she's royalty.  And she has the teardrop.
<Joseph> If she dies, then some other women will just take her place.  Its always the same cycle.
<Gayo> Gaffling: Meeee.
<Joseph> «ooc: Mwahahaha, of course. »
<Gayo> >> The Gaffling slowly floats off.
* Allen looks to the Gaffling. "Eh?"
<Joseph> «ooc: Hey, this FF8 mod fits this session pretty well. ^_^ »
* Allen follows it.
* Neydisa now looks even more nervous. "I'm sorry, you're right, we should keep going."
<Allen> «ooc: which one? »
* Neydisa follows the spirit again.
<Joseph> «ooc: Find Your Way »
* Joseph follows the Gaffling.

<Gayo> >> The gaffling leads them down a massive, arched tunnel, ribbed and pulsating. The floor is once again soft and squishy, and strange noises come and go, their sources unseen.
* Neydisa rubs the sides of her arms slightly, uncomfortable...
<Allen> «ooc: couldn't find "Find Your Way" only "Force Your Way" and that doesn't fit at all. ;) »
<Neydisa> The more I think about what might be down here, the more I...

<Allen> Don'
<Allen> Don't worry too much.. the spirit said it's just foreign.  Not evil.

<Allen> At least, until we find the actual curse.. 
* Allen frowns, nervous.
<Neydisa> But that's what scares me the most. It's not good or evil.. it's one big unknown.
<Gayo> >> "Be nicer, she cured your eyes..."
* Allen looks around.
<Allen> Who's there?
<Neydisa> There's nothing familiar to hold onto except.. what?
<Gayo> >> Allen turns around to find himself nose-to-nose with a wispy vision of Marlene. She fades into nothingness. 
<Gayo> * Marlene doesn't seem to notice, being busy trying to avoid getting slimy. ^^;
* Allen 's eyes go wide...
* Allen looks at Marlene.
<Gayo> Marlene: What?>
<Allen> D-did you.. 
<Joseph> «ooc: Back. »
* Neydisa scans around for the strange disembodied voice, seeing the fading remains of the ghostly Marlene. ^^
<Allen> um.. nevermind. :/
<Gayo> >> Joseph steps on a vein and it bursts, squirting blood all over.
<Joseph> «ooc: Allen: Force your Way wouldn't fit. ^^; It being the boss battle theme. »
* Joseph closes his eyes as blood hits his face. "It figures."
<Allen> «ooc: yah ;) »
<Gayo> >> A swarm of tiny black insects rush out of the vein, dispersing and vanishing.
* Joseph wipes the blood from his place. "Gah, this place sucks."
<Gayo> «ooc: hehe. »
<Joseph> «ooc: not place! Face! »
* Allen notices the insects and frowns in distaste.
* Neydisa keeps her head high, trying not to look at the bugs... bringing back unpleasant memories of a time she wants to forget.
<Joseph> Anything else want to go splat on my face?
<Gayo> >> In the lead, Neydisa almost falls over the side of the precipice before she sees it. A large drop into nothingness...but there must be something in the dark below, because noxious gases waft up from the pit.
<Joseph> «ooc: Its my acid. ;) »
* Neydisa flails, reeling back. "Ah!" o_o
* Allen looks for the Gaffling
<Allen> «ooc: oops. Lagged. »
* Joseph continues to mumble to himself about how sucky this place is.
* Allen reaches for Neydisa and reels her in.
<Allen> Are you okay?
* Neydisa catches her breath, mumbling, "I don't want to fall..."
<Joseph> «ooc: Mmm...apple. *takes another bite* »
<Neydisa> I'm ok.. I just.. wasn't looking where I was going. ^^
<Gayo> >> The gaffling is hovering over the pit...it points down, and by its light Allen can faintly make out a cavernous gap, and safe ground on the other side. The same ground (if it could indeed be called ground) is about two meters across from where they stand, and thirty meters down.
* Joseph walks up to the gap. Easy...
* Joseph reaches for his grappling hook only to notice it isn't there.
<Joseph> What the hell.  Where is it?
<Joseph> «ooc: Oh I remember now...the GM is mean and took it from me. »
<Neydisa> Joseph, my Lighter and other thigns are gone too.. we left them back in... the real world.
<Gayo> >> A toothless mouth opens on the side of the pit, right below them, gibbering and slurping and drooling.
* Joseph notices the mouth. "Hmm, it looks hungry. Anyone wanna feed it? ;)"
<Gayo> >> The Gaffling floats over to the mouth and converses with it quietly. "Mee. Meeb beem ee."
<Joseph> «ooc: Eww...its tounge is gonna be a bridge...I can see it. »
* Neydisa shakes ehr head quite pronoucedly. ^^
* Allen sweatdrops.

* Neydisa walks to the edge of the pit, and looks down. She carefully extends a hand to feel the strength of the wind blowing. "Maybe.."
<Joseph> «ooc: This is a battle...I can see it. If we defeat it then it will let us pass. Like a test. »

<Gayo> «ooc: It's on the side of a wall below and directly under you, you couldn't jump in it anyway. ^_~ »

* Neydisa sighs somewhat, and then thinks of something.

* Neydisa closes her eyes, and tries stepping off the edge carefully... "Got to have faith."

* Neydisa lands on the tongue-bridge ok, opening ehr eyes. "It worked?"
* Allen goes a little wide eyed.

* Joseph leans over the ledge and sees if the wall can be climed down.
* Neydisa looks up. "Everyone, try to hurry.. I don't know how long it lasts.."

* Allen steps over the edge, grasping at the wall nervously.
* Neydisa walks over the bridge carefully, getting to the other side quickly with her light weight.
<Joseph> «ooc: Well what was the real solution? »
<Gayo> «ooc: You had to climb down using the mouths and hand and footholds. »
<Gayo> «ooc: But this was less gross. »
<Joseph> «ooc: I was just about to do that! ;_; »
* Neydisa whews, saying "Thank you." to noone in particular.
<Joseph> «ooc: And Joseph wouldn't have cared if it was gross. ;) »
<Gayo> >> The party reforms on the other edge of the gap, far below. Giant, yellowed bones the size of tree trunks jut out of the ground and walls, tendons of flesh clinging to them like spiderwebs.,
<Allen> «ooc: wait a moment... I'm still confused. Gah. »
<Gayo> «ooc: Why? »
<Allen> «ooc: I can't see what this place looks like in my mind's eye. I don't understand where we were trying to get to. But it doesn't matter, cause we're there now. »
<Gayo> «ooc: You were on a high ledge. »
<Neydisa> << We had to reach an opening below us by thirty feet, and across a gap. ;) >>
<Allen> «ooc: I got that much. Nevermind, tho. »
<Gayo> «ooc: There was a gap, and then ground. Like a little crevice. The trouble is, the other side of the crevice was 30 feet lower than your side. »
<Gayo> >> "So what's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?"
<Allen> «ooc: oh. gah. »
* Neydisa looks around at the voice again.
<Gayo> >> A giggling, ethereal form vanishes like mist, too quick to see who it was. 
* Joseph talks without noticing anything. "I'm not a girl."
<Gayo> «ooc: Joseph is an egomaniac. ^_~ »
<Joseph> And Marlene...could I get my cloak back?
<Gayo> Marlene: I can't see! @_@

* Allen is too nervous to touch it, though.
* Neydisa looks at the Gaffling a little embarassed to ask. "You wouldn't have something to spare? We might need me to do that again..."

<Allen> Hey, isn't it odd that.. 
<Allen> hmm.
<Allen> nevermind
* Allen catches up.
<Gayo> «ooc: Ha ha, you missed a treasure. :D »

* Neydisa frowns. "I'm sorry.. I should have thought about that." :/
<Allen> «ooc: well.. would you grab a fruit growing out of a fleshy wall? I'd think it'd be poisonous. »

* Allen brings up the fruit, since everyone seemed to ignore him.
<Gayo> «ooc: Well, you could check with someone who has the power to identify it. ^_^ »
<Gayo> >> The Gaffling raises a finger, as if it's got an idea. It rushes ahead.,

<Gayo> >> It points to a throbbing sac hanging low from the ceiling from threads of skin.
