<Gayo> >> The city is already thronged with people of all sorts, rushing about from booth to colorful booth. Florists wearing daisy-shaped headdresses  hand out flowers to passers-by, helium baloons drift through the crisp morning air, and concessionaires loudly proclaim the quality of their wares or cleverness of their game. Joseph and Marlene drift throuigh the crowds with their shopkeeper companion, who's leading them into the center of the fairgrounds.
<Marlene> Awww... it's already in full swing! We'll never get a place to set up noooow!
* Joseph just looks around...and keeping real close watch on his possessions.
<Joseph> «ooc: HA! A PERIOD :O »
<Gayo> Betty: *grins* Some people set up the night before...this is nothing! If it weren't for the scare, there'd barely be breathing room. ^_^
* Marlene looks at Betty "So there are spots left?"
<Hikaru> «ooc: Betty? :O »

<Gayo> Betty: Sure, you just have to be a bit pushy. *wink* I've got my stuff set up already, I just need to set up my things. make sure not to put out anything that isn't in your reach and line of sight though...I'd wager at least one percent of this crowd's pickpockets.
* Marlene nods "I'll set up some booby traps..."
* Joseph overhears Betty and eyes his inventory even more then he had before.
<Gayo> >> The ocean of people parts a bit to reveal a booth labeled "McGraw's Fine General Items - cheap!". Betty puts her things on the counter and goes behind, opening some of the boxes and setting things up while chatting with Marlene. "I wouldn't go that far, you won't sell anything if you're busy setting up all day."
* Marlene gets a tighter grip on her things as she looks for a place near Betty's to set up "Not much to set out really... just a sign..."
<Gayo> Betty: So, either of you want anything?
<Joseph> Like I said.  It all depends if you have anything I need.
<Marlene> So far, I just wanna set up and make some money...
<Gayo> >> She sets out a few things. "Don't suppose either of you need anything?"
<Joseph> «ooc: Founder isn't on the access list...at least I think. »
<Gayo> «ooc: Betty sells normal items and groceries. »
* Joseph says nothing as he doesn't repeat himself
* Marlene takes a look over what Betty sells "Mmm.. dunno... not too rich right now ^^;"
<Gayo> Betty: Pah, everyone needs something I've got. Tell you what, I'll give you a twenty percent discount. ^_~
* Joseph walks up to the counter and looks over the items layed out
<Marlene> <ooc> Dunno what is exactly on the table.. so I can't say if there's anything Marlene would want ^^;; </ooc>
<Gayo> «ooc: Like I said, normal items (as per the equipment list), and miscellaneous groceries besides. ^_^ »

* Joseph looks at Betty "Do you have any boomerangs?"
* Marlene points at a heal berry "This looks nice!"
<Gayo> >> Betty sets a bottle of sweet rose perfume on one side of the counter and a smelly gourd on the other. She hands marlene the berry. "That's a good specimen. They get bitter if they're not grown just right. 45 gella."
<Gayo> Betty: Boomerangs? *blinks* I mostly sell consumables. The weapons and ARM dealers tend to congregate over there. *nods her head to the eastern side of the grounds*
* Marlene digs out 45 gella and counts what she has left "Now I really need to set up my shop..."
* Joseph nods "Thank you"

<Joseph> «ooc: Now I'm safe in this chan too ;) »
* Marlene starts to get pushy as per Betty's advice, trying to forge a place to set up
* Joseph walks off in the direction Betty pointed out...looking for ht armor shops.
<Gayo> >> With some work, Marlene manages to get her booth set up right near another ARMs Meister's booth. Joseph finds an armor shop staffed by a plump, mustachioed man in striped pants.
* Joseph notices the mens attire...then checks his inventory to make sure his stuff is still there. He then walks up to the booth. "Got any boomerangs?"
* Neydisa wanders onto the fairgrounds amidst the crowds, not standing out one bit in her very plain, loose clothes. he hair is a little neater than usual, tied up with a small piece of string.
<Gayo> Shopkeeper: Several right here! What sort are you in the market for?
<Hikaru> «ooc: Um. Good ones. »
* Marlene makes up a sign, sticking her tongue out cutely as she does so, and sits it out front, then tends to makeing her self look more of a professional
<Gayo> * One of the men in the flower headdresses accosts Neydisa, offering her a flower with a smile.
* Joseph looks over the boomerangs and takes the boomerang "Price for this?"
<Gayo> «ooc: Which one? Bent stick i guess? ^_~ »
<Joseph> «ooc: The item boomerang that is ;) »
<Joseph> «ooc: I always take the best so I can get rejected. »
<Gayo> «ooc: Oh. »
* Neydisa blinks, looking at the man a moment like she was startled out of something.. and takes it.
<Gayo> Shopkeeper: Ah, you've got a fine eye sir! That specimen sails through the air like a breeze. 160 gella.
* Marlene looks around at the people, then checks her distance from Betty should she have a question "Hmm... hope people take me seriously..."
<Neydisa> T..thank you...
<Gayo> >> The florist gives Neydisa another grin. "Have a good time at the festival!"
* Neydisa nods meekly. "Have you seen any..." She stops midway. "Nevermind.. I will."
<Joseph> 160...*twitches a little and places it back on the counter and picks up the bent stick* I can't afford such fine quality at this time.  How about this one?
<Gayo> >> The shopkeeper sweatdrops. "Er...40."
* Joseph pays the shopkeeper 40 gella and walks back to where Betty is
* Neydisa walks farther in, her eyes looking around for someone..
<Gayo> >> Neydisa sees a wide variety of someones; patrons of the inn, strangers, merchants, an odd predominance of royal guards...
* Joseph notices the new shop next to Betty's place. He then notices that Marlene is running it.
* Marlene waves cheerfully "Hello Joey!"
<Neydisa> .oO( Those three and Chartruese.. someone's gotta be here.. )
<Gayo> >> Marlene doesn't seem to be getting much business, but the guy meistering beside her has already had two customers since she set up! ;_;
* Marlene starts to stare at the man... hoping to make him uncomfortable
* Joseph walks up to the _other_ ARMs Meister shop and asks for a price of an upgrade.
<Joseph> «ooc: As in not Marlene's ^_- »
<Gayo> Meister: I'd have to see the arm. 
<Joseph> Fine. *pulls out the Cormorant and shows it to him*
* Marlene puffs out her cheeks, swirling her eyes around at him
<Gayo> «ooc: Jigglypuff! »
<Joseph> «ooc: Hey! Thats Niki's face!!! »
<Gayo> >> The young Meister takes the gun and holds it up, turning it slowly in his hands and srcutinizing it with a professional eye. "Hasn't been touched yet, I'll tighten it up a bit for you too if you like...100 gella."
<Joseph> Can I have my ARM back.  I would like to check the other shops first.
* Marlene drops the funny face and smiles "I'll do it for less..."
* Neydisa wanders the fair more, looking oevr some of the shops a little. .o( I wish I ahd money.. and with that gone.. I.. -_- )
<Gayo> Meister: Certainly, but you won't find any of my caliber. *grins roguishly, handing back the weapon*
<Gayo> «ooc: ney, you have 100. ^_^ He left all your stuff but the case. »

* Joseph walks over to Marlene's shop. "You said less..."
* Marlene nodnods, with a cute smile "Yup! I took a look while he was looking.. I could do it for 80, better work, aaaand! I'll stop calling you Joey."
<Gayo> >> The other meister chuckles in amusement as he deals with another customer.
<Gayo> Meister: I've never really seen a telescoping umbrella before...@_@

<Joseph> 80...*sweatdrops* Maybe some other time.  I don't have that cash at the moment.  I might be able to offer 50.

* Marlene smiles "You have 100.. I seen it yesterday. But.. since you helped me out, I'll do it for that."
* Marlene pokes the other Meister in the arm "And.. I bet if I can surprise you.. if I do a better job, you owe me 100."
<Joseph> I don't have 100 anymore. *pulls out his cheap imitation of a boomerang* I bought this earlier.
* Neydisa blinks, turning to the man. "Shrewd? Pretty? Just what kinda game is it?"
* Marlene tilts her head "Why would you buy a bent stick?"
<Gayo> Meister: I'm rather busy now. *grins* But it'd be hard to tell when I haven't had a cjhance to work on the weapon.
* Joseph smiles. "Oh. How about I offer 30 to each of you and you can each work on a section of my ARM."
<Gayo> Meister: Er...that'd be rather awkward, don't you think?
* Marlene pokepokes him again "Well.. how about, who ever wins... has to close up their shop."
<Gayo> Meister: Could you stop poking me?

* Joseph shrugs and faces Marlene again "You said 50 gella right?"

* Marlene raises her voice to let his customers hear "I still say you're too chicken to let the contest prove that... who needs a meister not willing to prove his skill?"
<Gayo> >> The man behind the booth waves Neydisa over, then steps aside to reveal a segmented wheel with a flourish. The wheel has a variety of numbers around it, and those same numbers are on the counter of the booth. "Just place your bets on the table here, and I spin the wheel. The odds of winning money are 3 to 1, and you can get ten times your bet back with a jackpot...it's a game that requires thought, you see...it's not all chance.
<Gayo> Customer: I just wanted my umbrella fixed. ;_;
<Marlene> I'll fix it! What he can't work on I can!
<Gayo> Customer: He was working on it until you poked him. :/
<Gayo> The Meister sweatdrops and hurriedly returns to the umbrella ARM.
* Joseph hands Marlene his ARM...realizing that his skills of bartering kinda sucks.
<Gayo> «ooc: You have to tell her what you want her to upgrade. »
<Hikaru> «ooc: Umbrella Ancient Relic Machine? »
* Neydisa rubs her head, noticing a small headache forming. "Thought huh.."
<Joseph> «ooc: Actually I was gonna have her ask me ^_- »
* Marlene takes the ARM from Joseph "To anyone who wants a better price.. just watch me work.. I'm better than him..."
* Marlene pulls down her goggles and looks up at Joseph "What'd you want altered?"
<Gayo> «ooc: Say AP or I smack you. ^_~ »
<Joseph> «ooc: I was ^_- »
<Joseph> Hmm.  What can be changed?
<Joseph> This is the first time I have ever had anyone alter my ARM, so I'm new at this.
* Marlene sweatdrops and explains it all to him ^^;
<Gayo> Wheel Game Guy: Why certainly! Behold! The blue gives you three, but there are only three blues around the wheel, here, here and here. How much can you risk on blue? Any or all? The red's your best bet, but it only returns your investment flat. And if it his one of these, here and here, that's a free spin.
* Neydisa reaches for her money pouch, looking oevr the numebrs she ahs to pick from.
<Gayo> Wheel Game Guy: On the other hand, the yellow's popular as a middleground, and the green's the best payout of all!

* Marlene nods "Sure can! I'll prove my worth by my work!"

* Marlene says to the other guy's waiting customers "Just you guys watch me!"

* Marlene makes sure her goggles are snug, and begins her work

* Joseph walks around the area as Marlene works on his ARM

No? *with a forceful spin, he sends the wheel whizzing in a blur of color* Round and round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows! *the wheel comes to a stop, clicking slowly as it settles on red* Red! * Joseph looks at the Game Man. "No."
* Marlene continues to work on Joseph's ARM, hoping to look professional and draw more customers

* Neydisa sighs. "No.. it's okay.."

* Joseph gets a little curious and watches how the spin turns out for that one fellow.

* Marlene rubs off her face with a cloth, and puts on a happy smile "Dirty work! But it's done!"
* Joseph chuckles a bit "Sorry, but I don't play games of chances"

* Joseph walks back to Marlene's booth to check the progress on his ARM.

* Marlene holds it up to him with a big smile "Worked like a charm!"

* Joseph finishes cleaning the ARM and unloads his current clip and pulls the trigger to see the all the parts are in working order. He then replaces the clip.
* Neydisa holds it again, as the ehadache comes back. She bites her lip a little...

* Marlene tilts her head at Ney "Are you ok Miss...?"

* Marlene rattles off info about it that she learned from her dad, then smiles cutely "Proof enough?"
* Joseph sighs a bit "fine.."
* Jeff blinks.
<Gayo> Meister: Just knowing about it isn't enough. *folds his armsa and watches* We'll see.
* Jeff blinks again, and looks back and forth.
<Neydisa> Well, he was this short guy.. called himself Chartruese or something. He's a shaman, but also a theif.. took a silevr case that was very dear to me.
* Hikaru wanders into the fair, not really caring much for that much of anything.. ^^;
* Allen follows Hikaru into the festival grounds, glancing about nervously.
<Marlene> Oooh! I'll definately help you stop a theif! If I see him... I'll hold him for you.
* Joseph takes the flower and wanders off
* Neydisa smiles meekly. "Really? Thank you..."
* Marlene smiles brightly and nods "Yup!"
* Neydisa extends a hand. "I'm Neydisa..."
* Hikaru looks behind him "Why are you so nervous, anyways?"
* Marlene dusts off her hand and extends hers "Marlene!"
<Gayo> >> A bizarre blue animal sits on Hikaru's shoulder, wiggling his nose.
* Joseph walks back to Marlene's shop "Mind if I take a break behind your booth?"
<Allen> uh.. well, it's a long story.
* Marlene smiles over at Jeff while shaking hands "Gonna go with me?"
<Allen> It'd be best if I can get out of town pretty soon.. 
* Marlene nodnods to Joseph "Sure! You can watch my back from theives!"
* Allen glances about
<Joseph> Uhh...yeah sure.  Oh and here.  I don't want this. *gives Marlene that flower*
<Gayo> >> The wind rat brushes his hair back and checks his reflection in a shiny suit of armor they pass. "So, 'owsabout we join int'th' festivities, eh?"
* Neydisa chuckles a bit. "He's an odd thief.. but eh did say he'd be around."
* Jeff pushes the orb towards the man. "I mean no offense, miss, but.. he _was_ the meister I was pointed to get this repaired by.. besides, this isn't coming out of my pocket."
* Jeff grins.
* Allen looks at Rayle and grimaces a bit.
<Hikaru> (to Rayle) Yeah, sure...but I think this guy's gonna snap if we're here much longer. ^^;
* Marlene sighs a bit "Yeah.. but if he breaks it, I'll say I told you so..."
* Joseph walks behind Marlene and sits down
<Neydisa> I'll be around, Marlene.. just tell em if you see him, please.."

* Marlene turns back to Ney "My friend will look for him too! Bai bai Ney!"
* Jeff chuckles. "I'll be sure to stick around so you can tell me off. But he certainly looks like he knows what he's doing."

<Allen> I can stay for a while, I guess.  But I may have to disappear for a minute if anyone recognizes me.  How about we meet back here if we get seperated?
<Marlene> Like heee said.. knowing isn't everything.. but! Like I say.. just looking the part isn't good enough... you gotta know what you're doing.
* Neydisa nods, and waves a little. She takes a few steps away to continue looking along the main areas..

* Marlene puts her head in her hands, elbows on the booth, looking over at Jeff "Bet you just dont think a girl could do the work.. ask Joey back here, I just did a great job on his ARM..."
<Gayo> Meister: *bows flamboyantly* A wise decision. I'll need to head over to my workshop for this, I'm afraid...it's a very delicate procedure. *he arches an eyebrow challengingly at Marlene, then heads off*
<Marlene> You know.. he's probably stealing it, since it's so valueable...
