--- Jeff/Neydisa Lude 2: High Road to Nowhere --- Session Start: Sat Sep 14 18:49:33 2002 After Susan lead you back to town she split off from you, and you presumably looked for a place to stay. there are no inns in Baskar, but you found someone who let you sleep in his barn. So that's where you slept. Right, then. Bah! What is this sleep? --SESSION START-- >> As the night progresses, Baskar becomes progressively quieter. Eventually, even the lights go out and the town is still. In a foul-smelling barn next to one of the larger houses, Neydisa sleeps quietly on a pile of old hay. «ooc: you can pose if you like, though only Jeff would be awake, and maybe not even him » * Neydisa slumbers upon the makeshift barn bed, finding a good position after awhile. The ease she finds sleep seems to hint that she's slept in much more uncomfortable places at one time or another. or another.. « gah » <> «ooc: Pose it, then » * Jeff is seated in the barn a little way away from Neydisa, watching the entrance and thinking on the conversation they just had with the wind.. « ah, much better... time to get IC properly. ^^ » >> A soft hiss breaks the silence, and a light breeze stirs the air. A hovering disk of sunlight forms, widening to brighten the darkness. * Jeff smiles, looking up at the sunrise. * Shane pokes his head through the dazzling brightness. * Neydisa stirs a bit as the light in the barn shifts, still sleeping rather light. * Shane squints, ready to jump back if they decide they're being attacked, but trying to adjust his eyes quietly before announcing. * Shane whispers experimetally. "Neydisa? Mist... Jeff?" >> Shane is at a strange angle, as if he's standing on a steep incline. * Jeff blinks, realizing that's not a sunrise, and he should read descriptions more carefully. <<..bugger!>> ...it can't be sunup already. *blinks blearily* «ooc: http://warpg.rpgcafe.net/files/kema_therapy.mid » Shane? Is... it safe? * Shane looks around, wide eyed. In his hand is his gun. I think so. * Neydisa lurches up, shaking her blue head once to clear it. "Mmm, Shane... yes, yes it's safe." * Shane gives another slow sweep of his head before holstering his gun. He looks like the familiar Shane, lines of sleeplessness starting to show on his face once more. Y...you're sure it's safe here? Are you all right? I'm not sure, friend shaman... ...I feel like the most dangerous days still lie ahead. ...I'm certain of it. It's as safe as a rustic little barn can be... we were lucky to get even this. >> Bits of brown straw cling to Neydisa as she stands. I... suppose. * Shane 's eyes stop whirring slowly, and he lets out a sigh. * Neydisa brushes some of it off, focusing on Shane more intently now that she has her wits about her. "Judging by the looks of things, I think we both have a fair amount to tell each other." * Shane nods. Were you successful then? * Shane speaks with slow caution, trying to restrain the fear at the prospect. * Jeff stands up. "We got some answers, anyway." * Shane arches an eyebrow. Then... you talked to... 'them'? * Jeff looks at Neydisa. * Neydisa rubs a shoulder, noting that vague chill still there deep within her. "More along the lines of a servant of the wind... a step in the right direction for us." * Shane looks at her curiously. "A... servant?" There is more than just the Guardians out there Shane, they are the most distant. It's much easier to deal directly with the spirits under them for a person. Someone named Susan acted as a medium for us. * Shane narrows his eyes. Still, you should hear this... er.. where do I begin... * Shane falls silent, and appears to be ready to listen. * Shane 's eyes flicker slightly in the silence. He's obviously considering something. * Neydisa recalls the words of the spirit. "Well... first, I might ease your fears a bit. I can say with certainty that the Guardians do not hate you... but love seems distant as well. You will swing the great balance by what you choose." That vision also is assured now.. you're one of three people involved in some task I have before me. Though I'm not clear what this is yet. * Shane nods. He doesn't look surprised at all. I know. Kema told me last night. * Neydisa looks to the side. "Until then, be careful to pay homage and service to the Guardians. I'm sure you've also received a task to prove yourself to the great Lucadia." ...Before Lucadia came to me. * Shane looks at Neydisa as their words echo each other. I'm missing something here, aren't I? * Shane looks to Jeff. * Neydisa looks back to him, nodding, then glances to Jeff. "It relates to a promise we made... Shane wishes to learn about the one I serve. I'm happy to see that is been blessed." The spirit only talked to... oh... * Shane looks at his hand, nervously. * Shane slowly raises his hand to show Jeff. Are you familiar with this? «ooc: Hang on, let me roll. » Not... really, no. «ooc: ....luckily, that's what I rolled. :D » * Neydisa isn't directly hiding it, as Jeff can see there's a similar scar to what Shane is displaying upon her palm. << I rather figured it would be. >> * Jeff stares at Shane for a moment or two, then smiles. "I see.." She... I saw her. She spoke to me. * Shane looks reverent. It looks odd on his face. « ow ;_; » * Neydisa continues her ramble a bit more nervously now. "Trouble stirring beneath the oceans... perhaps your mission relates to that?" I know not. I do fear what will happen, but I will do it. I promised her I would fulfill my duty before sleeping next. And I have things to do before I can rest. * Shane looks very heavy-burdened. What else did you learn? My time is... limited. Yes, about Kema... the spirits seem to know absolutely nothing. Or did not wish to speak about her. It is very strange. * Shane looks surprised, then not, then thoughtful. I... see... * Shane sighs. Anything else? The gate, Shane... they said it was a danger to Filgaia. It is. Very much so. It is also the key to Filgaia's salvation, I think. It's why I've come to you tonite. What do you mean? * Neydisa looks worried, the next answer upon her mind not offering her much comfort. " As long as the Gate is safe in my possession, we are safe, and the future is bright. ...but I fear that two parties seek the gate. And they are... powerful. «ooc: "Also, I have a bridge here I'm looking to sell." » * Neydisa nods slowly. "I can almost guess who might be one of them..." One is Amelia's supporters. They may know, or may not know yet... in which case, we must hurry to hide the components. ...The other is Shamesworth and his damned corporation. Likewise, he may or may not know... but he I fear more. * Shane passes a stony gaze over both of the Shamen. * Neydisa hangs her head. "Shamesworth... it is no surprise to me." I will not allow the gate to be destroyed. Only one in all of Filgaia can make me, and even She will have to prove herself to be true before I obey. * Shane stands resolute on this point. He will challenge Gods before willfully destroying his dream. «ooc: Hrm, Storen. Maybe another server would be better. » « I'm on eld now. » «ooc: Ah » << cool. We could be in &WARPG then! >> << instead of #WARPG >> << anyways... >> You are heading into dangerous waters, Shane. I wish I could do more for you. * Shane waves her apology away as unneccesary. They can't be allowed to have the gate. What I do now, I only can do. You would only endanger yourself as well as I with your presence. You... you both... will be able to help later. And maybe there is even one more unknown we will have to come to terms with. I think even Shamesworth might know this... I have already put myself at great risk in gaining incredible security for the Gate Components. I must continue far into tomorrow without rest to finish it. Jeff. They will not have the gate. I will be dead before they do. You mean the man on the moon, Neysdisa? * Neydisa seems confused a second, this obviously wasn't what she was about to say, but does nod affirmative. «ooc: ...man on the moon. That took me a second. » <> I... don't think Caliban's master is my enemy... not a friend, either... but he wanted what we wanted. And he knew not of us. If he is wise, he will respect us for doing what he thought would be difficult for him. << I'm tired. Tired grue is verbose grue. >> << you're all logging this, right? >> <> Yes, the dark man and the fate of Watcher... but I was referring to someone much more close to us. Allen... Allen? I can understand worrying about the people who've sided with the wolf, but Allen? << Crap! >> << PAUSE >> « uh ok ^^ » Ah, hrmm... * Shane frowns. * Neydisa shakes her head to Jeff. "You heard what the spirit said to me. The storm of power and his mixed blood. I'm afraid it will soon lead him into great danger." Why do you bring up Allen? Ah. I... can't find him. Oh.. I'm sorry. You're worried about _Allen_, not worried _about_ Allen. I spent quite some time today. You can't? * Shane shakes his head. And in the lab... Shamesworth held his sister captive. He might know about the powers his family has.. or wish to use them somehow. That's why I'm worried. * Shane gives some pause to this. The question becomes... what is the nature of his alien blood? * Shane 's eyes widen. You don't... They... ...They can't breed with us, can They? * Neydisa speaks quietly. "I've heard tales, but I've never thought it could actually happen..." I have no idea either... * Shane frowns. * Shane tries to shake it off. "Regardless... I'll continue to seek him out. His sister has recently gone missing, as well..." * Shane 's brow furrows. I'll put out what feelers I can. I haven't seen them in their mansion, bt I know not any word-of-mouth. I will hear within the week, hopefully. * Neydisa nods. "I know you have your priorities, but please keep what eyes you can on him." * Shane smiles. He's part of this too. We'll find him. Besides... I think he's proven he can handle things well, in duress. * Neydisa straightens, nodding. "I think I might stay in Baskar for a longer time... I was told of a great mentor of the ways I seek that lives to the northern coast." * Shane nods. Is... there any more? * Neydisa peers at Jeff, at least having one thing to encourage a faint smile. * Shane looks between the two Shamen. « come on zombie, give the man the good news. ;) » I'm... Pregnant. «ooc: That is NOT staying in the logs. » « LOL » << >:D >> << Jeff? >> << I wanna go hoooome ;_; >> « I'll say it if it's ok ^^ » << What?! :D >> << I don't know what you're talking aboot! >> It seems Jeff has more time with us... «ooc: Hrm. Is Rasis dead? » * Shane raises an eyebrow to him. I see. Congratulations. * Jeff nods. "Thanks." Well, then... How he and we use the coming time is the most important thing now... * Shane nods. Now... The reason I've come to you presents itself. Already, I've stayed overlong, so I must be brief. Forgive me. What I'm about to do is extremly dangerous. I may be killed, or worse. * Neydisa shakes her head, resting on the straw a bit. "Please go on then Shane." If you do not see me again within a week, you must try to get to the cove immediatly, take the Lens and the Generator, and destroy the rest. <> I once travelled in the flesh in the spirit world. It wasn't as fast as the gate, but it was faster than Steamship, I warrant. Will you be able to do this? «ooc: Could be. You can try, especially if you find this mentor. » «ooc: You don't know how alone, though. » * Neydisa adopts a serious expression. "If I find the person I'm looking for, I could... I need guidance about it yet." * Shane nods. I beseech you to keep those components in your protection. They are... irreplacable. * Jeff nods. "We will, Shane." * Shane reachs through the portal, and pulls an object from thousands of miles away. Here. Destroy this. * Shane hands Jeff the Book of Madness. «ooc: Specifically, the Corridor Book from the Abbey. » This is what taught me to build the Gate. If it is gone, I alone have the secret. «ooc: Ney would probably be a better choice than Jeff though, since she has the lighter. :D » « heh ^^ » <> Actually, I have a better idea... * Jeff takes the book. "I w-.. you do?" * Shane gets a sinister look on his face. * Shane grins from ear to ear like a fox. * Neydisa looks on. "So that's the book the started it all." * Shane licks his fingers and goes to the pages that house the insane plans. * Shane rips out the pages, and hands them out. * Shane goes through the rest of the book, then, ripping out random pages here and there. * Shane closes the book, proud. Decoy. Useless to them, but still useful to us. Deception is... a fine art. ah.. * Neydisa takes the pages as they come her way, looking down at them. "True to your name, as always." But how will you be true to yours.... Gray Priestess? * Shane smiles again like a fox. * Neydisa looks a bit surprised. "You knew?" Every day I learn more. I wonder how my world will change tomorrow. «ooc: >> Shane wakes up to find he has transformed into a giant cockroach. » «ooc: Shit! » « lol » Perhaps tomorrow, the world will change instead of me. * Shane smiles, dreamily. * Shane shakes himself out of it. * Neydisa hides the pages somewhere safe. "Gray Priestess... even mourning my failures. I need to stop that." * Shane looks at Neydisa. I would burn those. That seals the secret forever. Anyway, I wish you luck, and if I have any... I'll be back soon. If not, get the components, destroy the gate, and hide the BIrd again. We can't have anything fall to Adlehyde anymore... they are untrustworthy. Shane. Be careful... I will be as careful as I can be. Sadly, there is not safe way to do this. When one reaches for the stars... * Shane smiles again, showing considerable cheer for someone professing that he may be dead tomorrow. * Shane steps through the gates. ...One *might* get burned. I choose not to. Wish me luck. May the Guardians be with you, Shane... Only one, Jeff. But thanks. May your lords guide you. * Neydisa pulls them out again, pausing. She gets up from the pile she sits at, pacing a bit to an open space. She tugs out the lighter she carries, and flicks the flint, birthing a small inncoent flame to the edge of the pages. "Masks can burn. But your true dream won't, as long as I know you." Neydisa, I... * Shane nods. I need one more thing from you, Neydisa. * Shane beckons her closer. * Shane cocks his head from the other side of the portal, curling a finger towards her. * Neydisa casts the ignited pages onto the clearing, letting the evidence smolder and vanish for good. Satsified, she follows the call over to him. >> A few dusty firefly-wisps of magic escape from the ancient paper as it blackens in the flames. The illusion hiding the true schematics wavers and fades, revealing the Gate plans for a few fleeting seconds before they are burnt to ashes. I... my sister... ...I will be giving blood and more for this... ...but for your part, I need a lock of your hair. Without it, I won't be able to aide you in your hour of need. I shall not succumb to the failing of proud men. I will be more of a man than any man. So, with that, I ask for a lock. To seal a promise. * Neydisa whispers softly, "Say no more..." She ccarefully yankes a lock of her cerulean hair out from it's resting place, and places it in his hand. * Shane holds up the knife that sealed them in the space between them, his hand and the knife occupying space impossibly far from each side. * Shane blinks, not expecting her to be so harsh with herself. « sorry to rush, but I need to kick company out if that is alright.. ^^ » Thank you. «ooc: Heh. We're not actually going to get you guys out of the barn today from the looks of it. >_< » * Shane places the lock in his pocket, with the knife. «ooc: I might just fastforward to when you hit the road come morning. » << Sorry! >> I've got too much to do. With luck, I'll see you when our Mistress' task is completed! * Shane waves, and reaches for the controls. «ooc: closing the gate? » * Shane shouts as the gate closes. "Stay safe!" * Neydisa notices his blink, and waves it off. "Please be safe brother. I want you back before this returns." ^^ >> The gate spins closed with a 'pop', and the barn is dark again. On the horizon, the sky is lightening, however. «ooc: Do we need to end here, then? » MWAHAHA! NOW SHANE GOES TO STEAL 50 BILLION! ... «ooc: ...we're still IC. » «ooc: So Shane is speaking in the third person. » WOO HOO I'M CRAAAAZY! >> Time passes, and morning comes... --SESSION END-- Session Close: Sat Sep 14 21:43:52 2002
