Here there is nothing but twisted nature all around you, sprwaling in many directions... but one. And that is ahead. After travelling for a bit, the cover begins to thin out and the path widens, a rushing river flowing through it and splitting into many tributaries that water the apparent glade ahead. Staring forward, you begin to understand where you are... this is the resting place of the Mana Tree. A eerie mist hangs over the glade, as Cody feels a strange force tugging him forward. Phantasmal eyes in the brush all around seem to be watching, waiting. « youc an act a bit. :) » [Emerald] This must be it. The place where the seal was made originally... the glade of the Goddess. As you stare forward, you realize it's a tree. But it's unlike any natural tree you're aware of. It's bark is made of what seems like obsidian, scales reflecting the dim light. Oh my gosh...We're not too late, are we...? It stretches far above you, higher than perhaps even the clouds themselves. * Rachel peers upwards and mutters.. "We can't be...can we? No.." Since so many people have died, I'd say we're pretty late. Better late than never. Let's go kill a god. In front of it, you see a tall, slender woman, clad in a simple dress, appear out of the mists. ... * Rachel draws her sword slowly. ...Entropy... She needs to eat more * Cody readies his staff. She has long blue hair falling to her feet, which hover above the soil beneath the gigantic tree. The material of the dress seems forged of the same material, absorbing and reflecting the light in ways that make it appear her curves are more like the arms of spiral galaxies, and her legs speckled with stars. As you approach, she raises her head to speak. * Roric twirls his boomerang around two fingers. "I have a thing or two for her to eat." The mist around the area clears as she speaks, showing the full splendor of the dark Tree. * Cody gaze is steely. * Rachel curls her lip but says nothing, tugging her shield from her back.. In it's branches, you see the limp form of Meira, suspended and trapped. o_O * Rachel 's disdain breaks for a moment and she sucks in a breath... "Meira." You know, that's my spell you're ripping off there. She's emitting a faint bluish-glow. Meira! O_o * Rahne frowns, and looks nonplussed. * [Entropy] I'm afraid it will not do much to call out to her. She has broken the pact... and sought destruction instead of salvation. What do you seek? I see you eat your young, Entropy. That is a risky proposition. You raise an iron fist to your own children? His eyes no longer exist, merely windows to the searing, blinding light that shines forth from inside him. A deafening crack splits the sky, and black clouds bubble forth from nothingness, sizzling with pent-up energy. >> The sounds of battle are abruptly drowned out in a thunderclap that shakes the land to its core, as a winding bolt of lightning streaks down to impale Rachel. The mourning sky weeps pure electric light as Rachel is struck again and again, the air around her a sizzling fog of charged energy. * Roric falls to the ground suddenly, and the clouds fade as though they never were. The lightning strikes cease, leaving Rachel unharmed but smoking and crackling with inner light. Shudders and jolts wrack his curled body as the souls of fallen heroes of endless bygone eras rush into him in a cascade of screaming light. * Roric stands slowly, his weapon arm twitching uncontrollably as magic courses through it. His eyes are gone, and the empty sockets are stuffed with golden pollen that drifts forth slowly on the wind. His battered jerkin dissolves into the wind, replaced by a glimmering mantle of emerald elfwood. Thorns pierce his pale flesh where curling vines run through his veins, and the thin lines of trickling blood form runes on his skin. >> Roric invokes Chaos Breaker! Chaos will know his true fury if it dares attack. >> Rhiana's turn. [Entropy] Interesting... you're not the man who walked away that fateful day... A blackness, the infinity of space surrounds everyone and everything, and high above a great light appears, opening in the vacuum like a eye of unspeakable brilliance, both terrible and awesome in it's magnificence.. * * Rahne calls out! * Why fight on, when even the heavens are against you!? Gift from Valhalla! * From the great eye-mote above, a piercing beam of liquid luminescence cascades down crashing into Entropy piercing her and consuming her in the very fires of heaven... * * Rahne watches the great fountain of light cascade into the fading star speckled blackness beneath Entropy.. as the battlefield returns to normal, Rahne's spear drops back into her hands.. she has a faint smile upon her lips.. * * Rahne draws herself back up, and feels a little better.. * >> Rahne calls forth her supereme charge manuever, but just as it seems she will prevail, time freezes, and a lance of energy from the hourglass blasts her spear out of the sky, sending her to the ground. >> rahne's action is cancelled! Entropy slides backwards, looking at the sizzling wound, and touching it. * Rachel drops back into place silently and stands tall once more, gazing intently at Entropy. Transmuted to a mossy porcelain doll, he reaches down to his belt in a slow, deliberate motion, and withdraws the Mana Boomerang. * Roric lifts the boomerang above his head, one hand on each end of it. He grips the blade tightly, yet no blood is drawn. His arms shiver and distend from the effort as he folds the boomerang down from each end. It bends, then snaps in half with a crack. The inside is neither metal nor wood, but dust. A great cloud of grey dust bursts from the broken weapon, coating the battlefield. Where it lands, it hisses and crackles with smokeless white light. * Roric drops the two ruined halves of the weapon. The Wooden Boomerang clatters to the ground, small and unblemished. Striations cascade across Roric's skin, splitting into cracks from which green energy seeps like liquid. He moves a trembling hand to his face, coughs once, and explodes, fragments of stony skin pushed forward on a shockwave of quintessence. --Aura Wave-- * Roric crouches on all fours at the epicentre of the blast, naked save for a cloak of swirling energy. His skin is smooth and delicate as a newborn's, stripped of the calluses and scarring of the years. He pushes himself to his feet as if for the first time, a fog of raw power undulating around him, shot with lightning and wisps of mana. He massages his throat with a child's hand, swallowing repeatedly as though attempting to free a lodged bit of f * Roric falls to his knees, gagging. His eyes roll back in his head and he vomits up a phelgm-strung mass of blood. Seconds later, he vomits again, and this time the blood is filled with petals. The third time, nothing but a mass of pink rosepetals comes from his mouth. As they strike the ground, they blossom into a tangled bed of flowers that spreads outwards, encompassing the area. A bloody film drips down his chin and mingles with the hair on his chest. Shakily, his hands move to his chest, and he thrusts his fingers directly into his torso. As he removes them, slick and crimson, eight points of coloured light bursts from the holes, forming a net of vital tethers joining the party to each other. --Lifetap-- * Roric clenches both fists and grits his teeth. The threads of vitae pulse all eight colours of the universe, then vanish, each slipping into a person and leaving behind a patch of shiny silver skin behind. The Mana Weapons melt into nothingness, then reform fluidly into glistening shafts of blood and fire, too large and powerful for any mortal man to touch. "Why do I get the feeling I'm going to wake up and this whole day will have been one great big acid trip.." * Rachel looks about, wincing a bit at the noise.. ...So...I guess it's time to rely a little on luck, huh? [Meira] I make the impossible possible. It's what I do. If you find it in your hearts to trsut me enough, step back to your land, and do what you came to, Cody. Okay... I just wanted to thank you...for everything you've done for me. I won't fail this time, so we won't have to rush out of a crumbling place. That'd...be a plus.. * Cody smiles a bit further, his eyes a little teary with emotion, but he seems much stronger, more ready, then the last time he attempted this, "I'm so glad I met you all...I am. We're in charge of our own fates now...I believe that." * Rachel closes her eyes and nods helplessly, unsure of what to say... * Chrys shakes his head and smiles warmly, looking straight at Cody. "I'm confident in your abilities, Cody. You can do this." * Chrys smirks a tad. "Go get 'em, tiger." As the light from the pureland streams into it's doppleganger world, it shines off of a familiar wooden boomerang lying on the floor. * Rahne quietly reaches down, picking it up.. * ...No time to waste, huh? Roric would get angry if I stalled for too long, huh? As she picks it up, it takes some of the fertiel earth with it, laying in her hands ruddy and plain, but glimmers with some unspoken pride... the Mana Boomerang has fufilled it's task, and waits for a new master. * Cody reaches over, pulling Rachel into a warm hug, "...Until we meet again, huh?" You now notice you are entirely in the real world. The glade is that which you came to so many ages ago. The wilted plants and chaos have died down, but it awaits a savior to step to the stump of the old Mana Tree. * Rachel utters a harsh, tear choked laugh and runs her hands through Cody's hair, tugging him closer and kissing along his brow, muttering.. "You speak like you're going away, s-stud.....I love you, remember that. You can do anything..." * Tori watches Rahne retrieve the weapon. "Hard to believe...seemed like he'd live forever." In a sense...I am going away....But I'll try to come back to you...sooner rather than later... * Rahne turns around to face the others, her ears kept low.. * ..I had hoped that he might have been able to reconcile things with his father in person. Now all I can do is tell him how wonderful Roric really was.. * Cody turns to Rahne, "...I'm sure he already knew. I have to believe that. I just tried to keep you all out of trouble today.. That's all. Rhiana watches silently from the sidelines. Though she may not say it, she respects what Cody has to do. You protected us and guided us...you're a true Sage. * Rachel quietly waits, faith etched plainly across her face as she watches * Chrys kneels and watches, ready to donate some of his trademark thieves' luck to Cody if he can.. * Rahne squeezes the young man.. * I'll.. uh.. visit often, and bring news and stories. ^^; I won't ever be far away.. * Cody hugs her just a bit longer, then gently breaks away, "...I know...Thank you." * Cody takes a deep breath, and then heads towards the stump of the old Mana Tree. * Rahne stands there, feeling almost helpless.. * * Rachel rests her hand on her stomach, attempting to be strong.... A gentle breeze blwos past Cody's cheek. Upon it he hears the whispers of the world. They call to him as he stands there, asking his protection, his guidance, his blessing. * Cody climbs up to the stump of the old tree, standing upon it as he closes his eyes. He holds his hands out at his side. A familiar, yet vibrant ribbon of greenish energy curls around his body, and then another one forms, and another, and another, until his body is almost lost in a whipporwhirl of of it. >> The energy almost begins to hum and sing with power, yet upon looking at it seem soft, almost as if it were made of glowing pollen. The power of the transformation can be felt by all. It raises the hairs on the groups arms and can be felt deep in the core of their being. * Chrys blinks a little and shields his eyes.. quietly saying a prayer for Cody.. * ketsugi (~eternia@mcns96.docsis183.scvmaxonline.com.sg) has joined #Pureland * Cody begins to float gently off the stump as the whirling energy mass comes to a climax of sorts. For one brief moment, Cody opens his eyes and looks straight at Rachel. ~Thank you...Goodbye...~ >> Suddenly the influx of energy seems to explode! The group is unharmed, but the light is completely blinding! O_o * Chrys falls on his ass, more out of surprise than anything else. * Rachel opens her mouth to yell out to Cody but the words are strangled...she reaches out blindly, helplessly, with a hand, the other shielding her eyes... The bright flash lingers for a few more moments, then starts to dwindle in intesity, your senses coming back to you. * Rachel blinks away the brightness furiously... You stare forward at the spot where Cody stood a moment before, but there is no sign of him at all. But gazing down to the center of the stump, you see a very small green seedling has taken root. .... * Niki kneels down to the seeding. "Hi..." * Chrys sighs and lowers his head... * Rachel 's hands twitch uselessly at her sides and she attempts to think of all the lives they've saved, all the hopes they've kept...but the pain aches at her insides... Oh come on...say something. It has a small drop of dew on it's leaf, hanging suspended a moment... and it hits the stump. Instantly, lifeforces rush outwards all around you revitalizing the entire scene to it's former lush glory. * Rachel looks about, drawing in a soft breath of amazement despite her sadness... * Chrys sighs, closing his eyes... Wondering if there was something they could have done.. The place is teeming with tendrils of energy, and you begin to see their shadows.. dancing with them to repair the wounds of time. * Rahne 's ears raise a bit, and her tail swishes as she gazes in warm admiration at the small, but powerful sapling.. * It's beautiful... * Rahne nods quietly.. * The air is alive with the change... it is almost overwhelming as time goes on. Perhaps you should not stay here too long... * Rahne looks hesitant to speak, but nevertheless feels compelled.. * Well.. ..I guess we have a whole world out there to answer to. * Rachel closes her eyes tightly....before shaking her head, her voice shaking slightly. "...y-yeah. I guess we do." * Chrys swallows and speaks with a similarly shaky voice. "...I'm feeling a little lightheaded..." * Rahne turns her gaze out into the cerulean sky on the horizon.. * ..I'm certain he wouldn't mind if we visited, from time to time.. I'd hope not... [Rhiana] So much magic in one place... * Niki fishes in her satchel. * Niki pulls out her last midge mallet and places it by the tree. Joch, having been quiet most of the time and probably scared half to death in chaos world, kwehs curiously at the air... * Chrys bites his lower lip as he watches Niki.. .... [Joch] Kweh?... "Fair enough...who is..?" * Chrys nudges the "something" and looks down. >> The "something" is definetly a body, not clothed. ^^; It's turned away from you, so you're unable to really tell who it could be...but the hair looks like it might be a type of blonde color? ...whoever it is, they're nude. And unconscious. * Chrys pauses. "I ain't touching it. You can have the honors, Rache." * Rachel 's heart idly slows. I think I see why Rachel and you never came and visited last time we all were in Wendel... * Chrys busts out laughing as he leads the way out of the damn purelands once and for all. * Rachel gently reaches out to cup Cody's face, kissing him softly and then capturing him in a hug. She lifts Cody into her arms protectively, hugging him tight to her... * Rachel follows Chrys, uttering a soft chuckle as well... * Cody blinks at Chrys' comment, then looks down at himself and sighs. . o O ( ...Why do I always end up like this? ^^; ) * Cody then smiles once more, closing his eyes. His task is finally at an end, and it shows by the peace he has etched on his face. * Tori turns back, one last time and looks to the sapling. As you embrace, a shadow passes over the sun overhead, a howl of Flammie carrying on the wind... You're sure of it now. The sun has risen on a new age indeed. A wide world of possibilities, and new hopes rising from the ashes of the past.
