She sets out around town looking for clues to his whereabouts, eventually following the trail to a nearby cliffside outside the western gate.... <> «ooc: Start! :D » * Rachel stops to get her bearings a little, frowning worriedly. She brushes some errant strands of her hair from her face and gazes up at the cliffside before beginning to trek up the path to the edge of it... The horizon is filled with colors as the disk of the sun begins slipping towards it, silhoutting the form of Cody with golden and red splendor, as he stands on the precipice a ways up watching it... « ^_^ » «ooc: ^^ Hee. » «ooc: *bites back Titanic references* » * Rachel remains quiet as she approaches, sensing a solemn note in the air as she makes her way behind Cody.. * Cody is so lost in some sort of reverie that he doesn't notice Rachel approch. « Spread your wings out and fly Mits-- er wrong game >:) » «ooc: ....DIE! >D » * Rachel eyes Cody's still form before swiftly walking forward, embracing Cody from behind and holding him against her body, resting her chin on his shoulder. X-x » <> * Cody looks a bit surprised, but relaxes quickly, looking back to Rachel, "...This is just the last time I'll be able to see this..." * Rachel blinks a little and scowls goodnaturedly. "What, are sunsets going out of style?" Well...no...I just won't...see them, is all. This is my last one. * Cody says 'my last one' with a bit of finality. * Rachel is quiet for a moment and there is a rare moment of utter seriousness as she slowly begins to lean forward, dangerously hovering them to the edge of the cliff. "Then we jump now. Because if you're going to stand here and accept that now, after all we've done, after all we've accomplished, then there's no point in waiting for Entropy to finish it." * Cody tenses, "Ah...Don't...! Too close...!" «ooc: Sorry hun, he heard ya, but it's like, "AHH CLIFF EEE" » That's...it's....gah cliff! O_o * Rachel utters a soft chuckle and stops her advance slightly, still holding Cody in her strong grip. She nuzzles his ear comfortingly. "Do you think I'd let you fall off this cliff?? Even if we were dangerously close, teetering on the edge, I'd reach out and stop you from falling." * Rachel says that as if she's referring to other things as well. ...Rachel... * Cody reaches out and hugs her gently, "I...I know I have to do this....but there's still a part of me....that..." Isn't sure what will happen...If things will go okay. I can't make any mistakes this time. You won't. Ah, Cody.....you're not who you were when we first went on this wild trip...and neither am I. You're stronger now. Brave and wonderfully reliable. You've got a warm heart and a quick mind....whatever happens, it will be right and it will be mistake free... Go meet people...be that same dashing woman I love so much..." * Rachel falters in her strong front and utters a soft, teary laugh. "Hey, I'm pretty sure that a hero like me will never suffer for comforts...should I want any. But I'm the type to keep moving, keep helping people....I'll be out there saving lives while at night, I'd be telling stories to our baby..." <> As long as you're happy...That's all I want. :) « aww :) » «ooc: Rachel: Okay! Storytime, well, anyway, your dad was lying on this ebony altar TOTALLY naked except for a loincloth... » Yeah....well....keep in mind that I'd be delirious with happiness if you were there to HELP.....I hear changing diapers isn't exactly easy work, you know? And these hands are better at wielding a weapon than handling baby cloth.. * Cody grins a bit, "Oh...I think I could pitch in a bit of help here and there. ^_-" * Rachel brightens a little and grins as well, tightening her hold on Cody into a hug. "Glad you think so......Cody..?" Yeah? I love you. More than I ever thought I could love someone.....and I'm scared. I have faith that I can stop you from....from.....well, I have faith. But at the same time, it's just all so scary... ...That's why I came up here...well...the same reasons. I'm scared too. Scared we might lose our friends...scared something will happen that I can't protect you from... * Cody reaches into his backpack and pulls out the book that used to belong to Julius, "I...I have ablities now...responsiblities....I want to make the right choices...Do the right thing." * Rachel eyes the book warily and then looks at Cody... "I have faith that you will.....but...at the risk of being forward....can I see that..?" The book? Of course. ^^ * Cody hands it gently to her. * Rachel eyes the book still with much wariness but opens it slowly, flipping through some pages idly... "This was used to destroy a Gemma....a tree......maybe it holds the means to save one.." * Cody blinks, then brightens, "...I never thought of that... O_o" It's an archaic spellbook, containing the secrets of Red Magic, the perfect blend of arcane arts. Rachel cannot understand most of it complexities... but it speaks much of balance and opposing forces of white and black, order and chaos. Is there anything in it that could help us? * Rachel squints at the writing briefly, mumbling the word 'chaos', noting how many references she's heard to it from the book and Randy and everyone...she considers for a moment.. I...think so....it's very confusing for a person like me....but it speaks of the balance on things....order and chaos...how they interact and react... The patterns depicted in the book clearly show that the strongest magic derives from combining and utilizing qualities from two opposite force to create the perfect neautral one. * Rachel chews her lip.. « er neutral ^^ » * Rachel taps her finger on the page... "The strongest magics come from combining both chaos and order and using it to create a perfect whole, a neutral space....there's a meaning here... Maybe if somehow both were perfectly equal...In history, it's always been chaos or order... * Rachel looks at Cody for a moment and considers.. If you're a being of Mana, of order...you have the essence, as it were....if we...hmm.. * Rachel considers some more, mumbling to herself...she idly gets sort of a bookish look, rubbing the tip of her nose. It's quite cute. She sticks her tongue out slightly as she gazes at the book. Entropy has said I represent order...well, in the dream...and she's the opposite. But she won't help us in any way. ^^: Mm.....hmm....so you are order.....and... I've heard mentions of chaos....so who else do we know that is a being of chaos...? * Rachel jerks her head up suddenly. Rachel? What is it? O_o I....I think....but...we haven't seen.....what if she's dead...but...no....it could work...she'd have to be...hmm...! Ah, Cody! It's a fringe bet! Who what huh? O_o * Rachel brightens and casts Cody a cheerful look. "Who else do we know that is a being of chaos? Think..." Well...Khyros...but he's dead...that lea... * Cody gets the same look on his face Rachel had moments before, "Meria..." «ooc: I mispelled that. It's got to be! * Cody smiles, and hugs Rachel, "I hope so...I really really hope so!" * Rachel closes the book and grins, squeezing Cody.. "See? No giving up hope just yet, stud..." But first...we gotta stop Entropy...that'll be much more difficult... "We can. We will." «ooc: And that battle was unwinnable? » « I will say in the part coming up you could lose battles. ^^ » * Cody smiles, taking that as his hint to kiss her softly. He stops, and looks slightly to the almost set sun, "Maybe this sunset isn't so final after all." « so far yes, I have had one unwinnable battle. another will occur shortly.
