Tori Neverfall

Appearance:

Tori has two very different appearances- When in traveling gear, he wears a long, tattered cloak and a chimney-sweep hat that almost completely covers any distinguishing characteristics. In fact he's barely recognizable as being the same person, as when in traveling gear, he looks much younger then he actually is.

When uncloaked and ready to work, he is tall and slender; the body frame of a runner. He has brown hair of naturally varying shades and kaleidoscope green eyes. He's perpetually in denims, long-sleeved shirts of plain colours (black, white, grey) that are too large for him and a heavy leather road jacket (which acts to a limited degree as armor). He generally comes across in appearance as being gallantly unkempt; that is to say, his clothes are ragged and travel worn, but something about the person he is shines through and brings across his inner nature.

Personality:

Tori's changes in clothing, from traveler to shooter, are not just for visual effect. Tori has two distinct dispositions, almost to the point of being similar to multiple personality disorder. In his traveling persona, he comes across as being a little bit an introvert and a little bit a smart-ass. He's quiet because he's a thinker, but not so withdrawn as to come across as unreachable. A contrast between distant and warm is probably the best way to put it.

Uncloaked, in his shooter persona, Tori is largely silent and cold. Saying nothing unless necessary, he comes across as being fairly abrasive and distant. This is by no means the essentially kind, but troubled, youth of his other personality.

Strangely, Tori does not acknowledge the change, choosing to act like nothing major happened and tries to pick up things where he left off.

Needless to say, he generally ignores most questions asked about the condition.

Motivations/Goals:

Tori's ultimate goal is to find his older sister, but an equally strong driving force is to try to compensate for past actions...

Background:

Tori generally chooses not to let anyone know about his past and tries to evade any questions aimed in that direction. As far as he cares to let anyone know, he's been a troubleshooter since he was 13, and they don't need to know anything else. This secrecy is warranted, because Tori absolutely hates his past and himself for what has happened during it and does not like to really think about his life before he turned 13.

Now 18, Tori has been on his own for many years and has already developed quite a reputation, even though NO one knows what he looks like or can identify him. Regardless, the mention of his name is enough to cause even the most hardened criminals to get a little nervous and the most accomplished shooters to take notice. Half of them believe he's a myth and the other half believe he must be some sort of ghost, monster, or a bit of both (although this is mostly due to Tori's ability to stay non-threatening until the last moment and quickly shift back into that mode after everything's done- Psychology does the rest). Tori spends most of his time on his own, and despite his insistence that he's perfectly OK with that, he is increasingly becoming more and more lonely. He is going through a dark spot in his life and needs something to inspire him to push on...

Updates:

  • After dealing the winning blow to Nakano in the Wind Palace, she identified him as a soldier of Larece before vanishing. The fact he has paid strange attention to news reports on the anarchy in that region as well lends some insight to just what his true motive could be.
  • During a torture session with the Vandole ninja, more info was again splilled, this time as she confirmed his name as Hitori Rayonner, involved with the murder of the former King of Larece. The fact he is connected in some way to Prince Carmine, a girl named Chira, and a traitor called Furcht, one can only guess what turn this drama will take next. But will his fragile sanity survive to unravel the mystery and avenge Josie?
