Ishtar Sylvain (Valhalla)
Prototype Cyber-Angel

Valhalla

Appearance:

Ishtar has the normal features of a 5' 2" slender young woman of 17, with her long ebony black hair falling to the small of her back and green eyes to match. That is until you notice the two huge, razor-sharp golden metallic wings that sprout ominously from her back..

Personality:

Once a model priestess of the church, Ishtar was soft-spoken and mild-mannered in her ways, always willing to help wherever and whenever she could. She embodied the deepest faith in the goddess that a person could have...until she was transformed into Valhalla. Now she knows only the drive to cleanse the world of the infidels that stand against Queen Virtue's divine law.

Ishtar's mission was furthering the Church with compassion, but Valhalla's only goal is to serve by destroying all who oppose it. She doesn't have any other desires, since the repressor chip planted in her forehead robs her of all free thought.

Ishtar

Background:

One stormy night, the guards of Meribia came upon her barely conscious outside of the city gates. After getting medical attention, the young Ishtar was asked how she had ended up in the fair city and why she was injured so. Teary-eyed, she told them she had fainted from the effort of running away from her far-away home...and how she felt the clergy was the only people she could trust. Having tried to locate a relative of some kind and coming up empty-handed, the people decided they would take her into the Church, since she was so intent on learning the ways of the Goddess. This seemed the only thing that made her feel safe and at ease. Most accepted the new member with open-arms.

For the next several years, Ishtar studied long and hard of the many ways of Althena and practiced these teachings with exceptional devotion. Many were impressed by her piety and thought that one day she might even become the next High Priestess. It was then that Queen Virtue took her aside and asked if she would like to serve a special mission for the Church. Of course Ishtar agreed, since she owed them so much for helping her

Unfortunately for her, this was being the guinea pig of a new technological wonder, the creation of an Angel of Retribution to crush the enemies and dissenters of the Queen. As of that moment, in the underground laboratory of Dr. Sonyele, Ishtar ceased to exist and Vahalla was born, a remorseless tool of her creators' whims.

After obliterating the city of Jinzel with the merciless "Ragnarok" program, Emili was able to shock Ishtar to her senses with Thunder magic long enough to override Virtue's control of her. Now cast aside to the hands of the party, she has no idea of what the future holds for her and the fear of what may happen if she becomes a killer once more...

As of Chapter 2... Using parts from the very lab where she was created, Jack managed to repair Ishtar's wings to a fully functional state. Even so, she still is afraid of the power she possesses.
As of Chapter 16... When the selfless Ishtar tried to distract the deadly laser cannon of the VSS Epiphany, she paid a heavy price when she took a major hit and fell unconscious. Thankfully, the fact Adam knew her from the old days at the Virtue orphanage did help convince him to back off eventually. However, the damage done to her wings was extensive, and she was forced to stay in the ship's medical bay. It's just a matter of time before the angel flies again...
