Johnathan Hylan
Outcast Mage

Appearance/Personality:

Johnathan is 25 years of age, and stands a little under six foot tall. Thin and non-muscular, he isn't a very intimidating sight. His skin is fair and his hair blond, and he prefers to dress himself in loose-fitting clothing, often wearing a light cloak.

Johnathan seems a little odd at times, but that's most likely because he doesn't look at things the same way most people do. He operates from a different set of fundamental truths than most people do, out of knowledge gained from his magical experiments with reality itself. He has learned to be reserved and quiet in order to seem normal to others, but once he feels to be part of a group, he will become much more talkative. Innately a cheerful person, he does however have a wry sense of humor, which might become a little more evident to those he has known for a while.

Background:

Born in Vane a quarter of a century ago to James and Sarah Hyral, Johnathan showed promise of becoming a wizard. What training was offered by the guild to talented children was offered to him, and he accepted, finding magic fascinating. For a time, it seemed that he would go the way of many other children who had gone though training, becoming just another wizard in the town.

However, a few years into his training, he stumbled upon a hidden, and long forgotten, cache of books that at first glance appeared to be standard magical texts. Upon closer examination, however, he discovered that these were tomes dealing with long forbidden and shunned magic arts that dealt with the very fabric of time and reality. After a brief period of struggling with himself, his curiousity won out and he poured himself into his private studies, fiddling for years with powers beyond his understanding.

Careful to conceal what he had learned and to continue to speak the same beliefs as everyone else, the more he learned, the more his views changed. He began to privately question everything, and even rejected his once strong faith in the goddess Althena.

It wasn't until a short time ago that his private experiments became known. His teachers, long suspecting that his only skills lay in his aptitude for healing magic, were shocked when he accidentally obliterated an abandoned building. Not sure of what he had done, or how he had done it, Johnathan fled when the authorities came for him, taking little with him but the clothes on his back and a pair of the books he had found...

As of Chapter 4... Johnathan was abducted along with Haylee in Reza by Sinel, who referred to him as "One of the 4".. What could his greater purpose be?
