Old Capital Ruins

<TheStoryteller> The clouds gather in the skies above the forsaken ruins of the once great capital city of the North continent. Fallen white stonework litters the ground, giving you an idea of how pristine and glorious these structure must have been one day...
<TheStoryteller> But in between these chunks of the past lay new denizens. Each crack, cervice and deserted highway has taken on a new existence, as plants of every type cover the old dreams.
<TheStoryteller> Mm, the wilderness. Sometimes comforting, other times harsh.. but alyways reliable and predictable. If only people were so cut and dry.
<TheStoryteller> Angharad stalks out amidst this rubble-strewn, asphalt savannah on her mission for Dr. James Brandt. These newly disocevred ruins have abundant wildlife, and it is her task to catalogue it. One she is well suited for.
* Angharad lopes along at an easy pace, her backpack strapped tight to her shoulders and a clipboard tucked under one arm. Her ears are perked and alert, her nostrils wide to take in the local scent.
<TheStoryteller> The day starts off like any other, with you setting out with a party of 4 human scouts from the staging area. It seems Hiro had already left alone, as well. Probably to investigate another region.
<TheStoryteller> Though you obviously would prefer to work alone, it is a huge task for one person, and you begrudgingly accept having the help. While conducting themselves professionally, you get the feeling they might have similar feeling beneath the surface...
* Angharad gives the humans their space, trying not to overhear their conversations when it turns towards anything other than work.
<TheStoryteller> [Scout] Alright, we have a half-destroyed structure a few klicks to the north. A previous team said there was a cave entrance, possible to an entire subterranean biome.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Hah, can't wait! This could be a motherload!
* Angharad nods. "That would be a good home for bats, perhaps some subterranean mammals as well."
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] It looks like rain, too. We should be careful of flooding down there...
* Angharad flattens her ears and checks the sky. She takes a few sniffs but says nothing.
<TheStoryteller> One of the scouts bringing up the rear grumbles a bit to himself.
* Angharad looks back at the scouts. "We should have time, but let's not take any longer than needed."
<Angharad> Is something wrong?
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] No, nothing, nothing. Nevermind.
<TheStoryteller> As you progress down the cracked roadway, you can see the evidence of the central planning abundantly clear. At every block or so the path ends in a circular hub of giant proportions, splaying out in a spidersweb of directions.
<TheStoryteller> The building your assistants have indicated is visible to the north a short distance away. Half of it is still standing, supported by a gigantic pillar or two. The rest seem to have structurally failed, sending the monolith into a heap on the other side.
<Angharad> Has a geological team checked if the cave in the interior of this building is stable?
<TheStoryteller> [Scout] Yes, Angharad. Preliminary reports indicate that there is only a 5% chance of any unbalance occuring if entered by a group in our current size.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] What you mean it's not 0?
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] You know they just tack that on because noone's ever sure.
* Angharad sighs and pulls out her spelunker's hat, a nice hard shell with a lantern mounted up front. "Well, let's get started before the rain comes in."
<TheStoryteller> The rear guard just keep grumbling. he's never in a good mood it seems.
<TheStoryteller> The rest of the team do likewise, reaching for their headgear. Small lights mounted on the front soon come alive with a slight bit of focus from their thoughts.
* Angharad clumsily fits the hard hat to her head, which was not really designed for human headwear. Her ears are cramped, but she manages to fasten it without much trouble.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] You havin' trouble? Hope it's not too tight... heh.
<TheStoryteller> The thrid scout shoots him a look. "Knock it off, man. You always do this."
* Angharad swallows a growl and tries not to glare at the scout.
<Angharad> I'm fine.
* Angharad pulls out a little mechanical clicker meant to log the counts of each specimen of a particular species she sees and slings her clipboard in front of her. "Let's start looking."
<TheStoryteller> With your mounted illumination, it's easy to see the details of the place. There are quite a few openings in between the rubble, but the largest & presumably most direct is via a collpased door on the western side.
<TheStoryteller> What once was a fancy lobby by your thinking has sunken deep into the ground, leading into a crevasse...
* Angharad scans the interior; up, down, both sides, and front before making her way towards the collapsed door.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] That Devestation War sure didn't spare this place.
* Angharad pauses, thinking of something she could say to the scouts, a comment about the lobby and it's come so far to be in its present state, but then decides against it.
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Being the capital. it's only logical. But some parts are very well-preserved.
<TheStoryteller> The crevasse is wide enough to be accessed one-by-one in a line.
* Angharad busies herself looking at the masonry as she listens to the scouts. It's not her history, here in the ruined capital, but she should appreciate it, at least out of consideration for them.
<Angharad> Shall I go first?
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Certainly, Angharad. You are the leader of this expedition.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Personally, I want to see it first!
* Angharad squeezes into the crevasse and takes the lead, ignoring the less-than-considerate whiner behind her.
<TheStoryteller> Angharad edges slowly deeper, her headlight bouncing off the confining walls. After a tight squeeze, she finds it becoming less so.
* Angharad pops out on the other side.
<Angharad> It widens once you get farther in.

Old Capital Ruins, Subterranean Cavern

<TheStoryteller> Your keen eyes are greeted with an amazing sight. The cavern is covered from floor to cieling in all sorts of plant life, many of which don't seem familiar to you at all. The floor makes a squishy sound under your footfalls, as it's coated with a wet moss.
<TheStoryteller> Hanging from the stalactites in the cieling are also what appear to be flora giving off their own phosphorescent light.
<TheStoryteller> Your mind immediately begins to kick into gear. It must be some kind of symbiotic relationship you are witnessing... plants helping other plants grow. Segregation of tasks. This almost seems less than accidental.
* Angharad tries not to squish the moss too badly as she peers intently at the phosphorescent plants. "Amazing... I'm not sure I've seen anything quite like this before. It's seems they've found a way to bypass their need for sunlight."
<TheStoryteller> The other scouts start crossing inside single file as you've given the all clear.
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] *manages to adjust his eyes to the light* Goodness, you're right.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] I TOLD you this was going to be the motherload!
<Angharad> The chlorophyll levels seem reduced, but they're not entirely albino. There's something... odd about them.
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Is it just me or is this a little too strange?
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] ...whatever.
<Angharad> Maybe they're partnering with bacteria, or fungi to accomplish their survival down here. The moss indicates we have algae in this cavern so it gets a certain degree of moisture on a regular basis.
<TheStoryteller> Upon closer inspection, these hanging plants functioning as mini-suns have a very warm touch to them. There is certainly some interesting chemistry going on inside their flower bulbs-turned-light-bulbs.
<TheStoryteller> The your right-hand man takes out a sample collector, picking up a bit of plant matter here and there for later analysis back at the staging area biology labs.
<Angharad> Interesting... light and heat from the same time... from a plant.
<TheStoryteller> Deeper in the cavern you can hear a gurgling sound.
<Angharad> Hm...
<TheStoryteller> The walls also shift ever so slightly, some flakes of soil falling.
* Angharad looks at the group to see if they're ready to move on, particularly the fourth scout. "Are we ready?"
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Hmm. Could that be water? It has the sound of an underground spring somewhat.
<Angharad> Uh oh...
<Angharad> Everyone, get out of here! Back up to the surface!
<TheStoryteller> The scouts don't waste any time from beginning to retreat! But the sound stops, and the cave is silent once more.
* Angharad utters a low growl into the silence and then listens for the rushing water again.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] Hey, calm down people! What are you, a bunch of fraidy cats?
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Be quiet. You know this is a dangerous area and anything can happen.
<Angharad> There's rain coming. Do you *want* to take chances?
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] *sigh* I don't hear anything else.
<Angharad> Maybe. I'm still concerned though.
<Angharad> All right, let's go back.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] *grins, obviously wanting some more rare plant action*
<Angharad> By the way, when we took samples of that plant, did its lose its light or heat before being put in the sample bag?
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] It appears it has stopped giving off light.. but the warmth is still quite strong.
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] The chemists are going to have a field day with that one...
<Angharad> I'm sure.
* Angharad heads cautiously towards the end of the cavern from which she heard the gurgling sound.
<TheStoryteller> One of the plants on the cieling which is budding opens up, and a new light joins the fray.
* Angharad looks at the plant briefly, a curious thought occuring to her as she wonders what fertilizes the blossoms in an underground environment.
<TheStoryteller> Angharad advances down the diagonal sloping cavern, as the scenery continues to be much of the same. The level of plant activity only gets larger with every step. Eventually the floor levels out.
<TheStoryteller> You are presented with 3 winding passageways ahead. In front of them on the floor is a beautiful pink blossom.
<TheStoryteller> It's roughly the size of a human head, and the nectar smells extremely sweet. ^^
* Angharad keeps an eye out for what could have possible caused the gurgling as she lightly sniffs the flower. Something is definitely not making sense here.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Wow, that thing is BIG.
<Angharad> Flowers' scent is to attract something, food or pollinator. What could it possibly be trying to attract all the way down here? We haven't seen any animals yet.
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Hey, don't you go getting to close. What if it's one of those predator plants? want it to snap on your nose?
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Good question, Angharad. This is a mystery.
<Angharad> I don't need to lean all the way over it to smell it. It's quite strong... A predator plant normally requires a soil high in nitrogen as well. There isn't really much soil to speak of here.
<Angharad> That doesn't mean it can't be dangerous though.
<TheStoryteller> There's another sound that pierces the silence, this time less of a gurgle and more of a rustling. Followed by a *patpat*.
<TheStoryteller> It is strongest from the central tunnel.
<Angharad> I'm not sure I like the sound of that.
* Angharad casts a wary look on the suspicious looking blossom in front of all the passageways as though it might be some sort of organic sensor.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] ...
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Could there be something moving down here?
<Angharad> I think so. If it heads this way we'd better get back though. We don't want to risk frightening it if it's harmless, and we don't want to anger it if it's not.
<TheStoryteller> The scout appears to have his question answered for him as suddenly from the left cavern a sinewy vine darts out and grabs him!
<TheStoryteller> [1st Scout] Agh!!
<Angharad> From the left? Everyone, get out of here!
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Oh shit Oh shit... it's got Marv!
* Angharad growls and unslings her halberd. She charges at the vine and tries to chop it through with the blade of her polearm.
<TheStoryteller> From the right another tentacle-like shoot snags the 4th Scout!
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] The hell! Let go!
* Angharad tries to free the first scout. Gotta save at least one before going after the other.
<TheStoryteller> Angharad slices clean through the vine, preventing it from slithering back with it's prey.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Whew... thanks.
* Angharad pushes the scout towards the exit. "Hurry up! Go!" She dashes over to the fourth one.
<TheStoryteller> Meanwhile, the 4th Scout is dragged into the other passageway! Angharad cannot make it in time.
<Angharad> Damn it!
<TheStoryteller> Marv and the third scout try moving towards the exit but suddenly roots pop up from right beneath the ground.
<TheStoryteller> The second scout is not caught, but then hesitates, and tries to hack his friends free.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Grr.. you overgrown weed!
* Angharad takes her halberd to the roots and begins some liberal pruning.
<Angharad> Come on... stupid vegetable... LET... GO!
<TheStoryteller> Angharad and her scout helper succeed in freeing them. But just as they are celebrating, another vine comes from the tunnels and grabs Scout #2 around the waist from behind.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Urk!
<TheStoryteller> He's yanked into the central tunnel.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] This is not good!
* Angharad spins back around and pushes Marv and the third scout towards the exit. "Get out of here or we're all going to be plant food!"
<Angharad> We keep losing people and I'm not going to allow it!
* Angharad is going to keep butting those two until they're well on their way out.
<TheStoryteller> The third scout, overcome with fear starts booking it once freed! His dash is cut short as one of the walls collapses! The path is blocked...
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] No good! We're trapped!
<TheStoryteller> Marv is nearly plant food, as he dodges a vine narrowly, slicing it with a sharp dagger.
* Angharad snarls. "We'd better get moving then. Follow me. Let's try to free the others."
<TheStoryteller> Frm down the tunnels you hear muffled yells. "HEEEELP!"
* Angharad slashes at vines and starts down the central tunnel.
<Angharad> We're coming! Are you hurt or just trapped?
<TheStoryteller> Angharad, Marv, and the third scout advance down the tunnel, trying to dodge the grasping vines or hack what gets too close.
<TheStoryteller> [Strange Female Voice] Oh I think you're all trapped my lovelies....
<Angharad> Hrg?
<TheStoryteller> Marv looks stunned. "A sentient plant?"
<Angharad> Can't be... Plants don't even have nerves.
<Angharad> It could just be someone controlling it.
<TheStoryteller> It's not long before the tunnel ends, opening into a large central chamber. You are greeted by the sight of a gigantic pink and green plant in the vague shape of a human female. The lower half of her body where the legs would be is fused into many vines that disappear into the ground, while her arms do likewise with the cieling.
* Angharad looks for the scouts.
<TheStoryteller> Hanging in midair are your two comrades, held fast by the vines. They are dangling in a way that suggests she is playing with them like toys...
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Ahhh! I don't want to die ;_;
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] Goddess, I'm going to be eaten by a plant woman. Just my luck!
* Angharad looks at the plant thing, and supposing it's sentient, bares her teeth. "Put them down."
<TheStoryteller> [Plant Woman] Oh? That's no way to address me. I'm the queen of all the plants, Plantella!
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] And you want these little morsels back?
<TheStoryteller> She dangles them tantalizingly over your heads.
<Angharad> If you're a plant, you get your nutrients from the earth, not from people. You don't need them.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] This is amazing and disturbing at the same time...
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Let 'em go!
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Ah, but that's where you're wrong, wolf girl. I'm going to use them like fertilizer for my little suns! They need human blood for their reactions you see...
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] And they are very, very hungry. *she licks her green lips*
* Angharad looks around the chamber for a way to escape, then for a way to cut down the scouts.
<TheStoryteller> There's only one escape, and that was cut off. Up above, you notice a hole in the roof that is letting light in right on Plantella.
<TheStoryteller> The scouts are retracted beyond the reach of your polearm. It would be very risky to try to leap and cut them down without possibly skewering them as well.
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] So, why don't you stay for a very... long... time...
* Angharad growls in frustration and studies the Plantella for chlorophyll to see if it's likely drawing energy from the sunlight.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella rustles, shaking the cavern. The vines everywhere teem with activity.
<TheStoryteller> They begin to advance on your party of three... you are forced to defend yourselves!

~~ COMBAT! ~~

<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Ohohohoh! Yes, I'm going to enjoy feasting on you all!
<TheStoryteller> Plantella's vines begin moving over the three of yours heads...
<TheStoryteller> Marv attempts to defend himself!

<Angharad> . o O (It's not my day.)
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's Wilds Resist is triggered! Gains Plant/Earth resistance! The attack has no effect!
<TheStoryteller> >> Marv & Scout 3 are hoisted into the air and removed from battle!
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Angharad! Ugh!
* Angharad tries to hold herself steady despite the fact she is staring down a crazy giant man-eating plant.
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Yikes!
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad utters a throaty growl and swings her halberd upward, catching the vine with its blade, then reverses her grip in the weapon, arcing it back down to slam the vine into the ground.
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad uses Crescent Fang on Plantella - 71 damage!
<TheStoryteller> One of Plantella's vines is sliced neatly in two by the blade of your halberd, making her roar in pain.
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Why you little.. how come you survived my attack?
<Angharad> Let's say I'm built a little sturdier than your average human.

<TheStoryteller> >> Round 2

<TheStoryteller> >> Declaration Phase.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella becomes visibly angry, as the flowers that adorn her chest begin to open...
* Angharad studies her opponent, trying to think of the options.
<TheStoryteller> >> Battle Phase.
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella's flowers enter full bloom, spreading a sickly sweet aroma that causes Angharad to cough and gag.
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad is resistant to Plant! 7 damage... She resists Poison!
* Angharad retches. "Damn plant. You're not going to stop me with that!"
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Urgh, you wretched animal! >:|
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad dashs around the Plantella, hoping to take care advantage of its blind spot, if it has one. Taking a quick look around she spots the root of the vine holding Marv and take a strong swing at the base of the vine to sever it.
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad attacks! 1: CRITICAL! 86!
<TheStoryteller> >> The vine holding Marv is disrupted, dropping him to the floor with a THUD.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] I'm.. free?

<TheStoryteller> >> Round 3

<TheStoryteller> >> Declaration Phase.
<Angharad> Marv, see if you can do something about blocking out that light up there, or getting the cave to drop on this thing.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Good thought! I saw the opening before, but then I was captured.
<TheStoryteller> Marv starts to reach for the pack that fell to the floor. Something in there could do the trick...
* Angharad tries to stay out of Plantella's sight, assuming it actually uses the eyes on its head...
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Oh no you don't!
<TheStoryteller> Plantella begins sending out some vicious vines to feel behind her, aware of the blind spot predicament.
<TheStoryteller> >> Battle Phase.
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella attacks Angharad blindly, but Angharad's infusion blunts the effects. 1: 10! 2: 11!
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad scrambles away from the vines and takes another slash at a tendril holding one of the scouts captive; this time scout #2.
<TheStoryteller> >> 44 damage! Angharad's halberd severs another lifeline, causing the second scout to wriggle free and plop to the mossy floor.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Alright! I love plants, but not THAT much!
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Thanks, Angharad...
<Angharad> Good to hear it. Now see if Marv can use some help.
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Nonono... you're ruining everything, you furry troublemaker!
<Angharad> Look, just let us out of here and I'll stop messing with your vines.

<TheStoryteller> >> Round 4

<TheStoryteller> >> Declaration Phase.
<TheStoryteller> Marv finds what he was looking for: it's a net gun used for capturing animals. It also has a blunt impactor to knock them out, which might work well on the roof...
* Angharad eyes the vines, searching out for another base to attack.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella is still chasing after Angharad, enraged.
<TheStoryteller> >> Battle Phase.
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella attacks the wolf guard, but to little effect! 1: Miss! 2: 9!
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad dodges the first vine the plantella slings after her, takes some scuff from the second, but manages to tumble over to the vine holding scout #4, which she graciously chops down next in hopes that its prisoner will stop his sputtering.
<TheStoryteller> >> SLICE! The blade makes a very neat cut. 42 damage! Scout 4's vine staggers around, and he is knocked to the ground a unceremoniously.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] *spits out dirt* Ugh. I guess... I owe you one.
<Angharad> You're welcome.
<TheStoryteller> Marv and the second scout begin to aim the gun at the roof opening, trying to get a clear shot while Plantella is focused on Angharad...

<TheStoryteller> >> Round 5

<TheStoryteller> >> Declaration Phase.
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Mmmmrrrrrrrah! What will my darlings do without food?!
* Angharad is content to keep the plantella's attention as she squirms her way around the vines and the moss towards the last scout.
<Angharad> It seems you were doing just fine before we showed up.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella switches her tactics, and the vines start assaulting Angharad in a more focused fashion.
<TheStoryteller> >> Battle Phase.
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella uses Vine Whip on Angharad!
<TheStoryteller> >> The Plant spell barely makes a scratch in her fur. 17 damage!
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad pulls back from the flailing vines and takes a flying leap at the vine holding the last scout. She swings her halberd to strike it all the way through.
<TheStoryteller> >> Another deft stroke and the last human is freed from the plant's deadly grip. 44 damage!
* Angharad glances over her shoulder at Marv and the second scout. "Any time now, guys..."
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] S..sorry for causing so much trouble, Angharad!
* Angharad nods, accepting his apology.
<TheStoryteller> Marv fires the gun at the opening! The blunt metal fits exactly into the hole with a harsh grinding sound. The light is now blocked!
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] What are you doing...?! The light... I need the light!

<TheStoryteller> >> Round 6

<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella is beginning to wither.... 60 damage!
<TheStoryteller> >> Declaration Phase.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella rages, and starts shaking the whole chamber. o_O
* Angharad was going to pity the plant creature for a moment, but on second thought...
* Angharad raises her halberd, taking aim by the dim remaining light of the cavern.
<TheStoryteller> >> Battle Phase.
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella brings the house down upon Angharad, knocking a huge boulder free from above as she struggles to widen the opening. But it does little, due to her Earth resistance. 18 damage!
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad's action.
* Angharad races forward, halberd aimed at the center of the plantella's body. She arcs and upward swing from down low, coursing up the plantella's midsection and coming out by the shoulder.
<TheStoryteller> >> Angharad utilizes her trusty Crescent Fang attack to eviscerate Plantella's fragile torso. 70 damage!
<TheStoryteller> [Plantella] Noooooo... I'm.... ...
<Angharad> You could've done it the easy way...
<TheStoryteller> >> Plantella collpases, sap and water spilling out from the wounds. She is defeated!
<TheStoryteller> >> The enemy is wiped out!

~~ Victory! 4 XP, 2 MXP and 100 silver gained. ~~

* Angharad pants, tongue lolling, as she catches her breath.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Such a fine specimen... it's too bad.
<TheStoryteller> The 4th Scout looks up as the cieling is still rattling from the violent motions.
* Angharad huffs. "Yeah. Too bad."
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] Uh oh. I think you'd better DUCK!
* Angharad notes the movement. "We'd better head back up the passageway. I know it got blocked in, but maybe we can dig our way out."
<TheStoryteller> The scout team disperses back towards the passageway, just as more chunks of the cieling begin crashing down!
* Angharad scoots the scouts out of the way of any falling ceiling.
<TheStoryteller> The rumblings continue, but the cavern seems safe and sturdy. A few more boulders fall, and the gun from the opening lands with a thunk on the moss.
* Angharad peeks back in.
<TheStoryteller> The sky has now stopped falling, and the fading sunlight is coming in full bore. One side of the chamber has fallen in, making a ragged but possibly climbable stack of rocks.
<TheStoryteller> Plantella's body twitches, now squelched under debris. The plants all around are wilting...
<Angharad> Let's go out this way, and quickly before anything else happens.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] No arguements there! I've seen enough for the next month!
* Angharad climbs up the rocks.
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] What a story to bring back to the Doctor.
<TheStoryteller> Angharad's claws fund purchase on the pile, though it shifts unsteadily. One at a time might be best.
<TheStoryteller> Marv throws up a rope to Angharad.
* Angharad catches the rope and ties it around what appears to be a sturdy boulder; at least as far as the weight of the scouts should be concerned.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Secure this near the opening and we'll climb out. The rocks might not last.
<Angharad> All right! Try climbing up now!
<TheStoryteller> Marv waves the troops up the rope, and they begin ascending. The rock easily balances the wieght.
* Angharad stands by ready to help pull up the scouts if they have trouble the last few feet.
<TheStoryteller> Moving carefully and steadily, the entire group makes it out of the caverns, and into what you recall as being the center of the destroyed west wing.
<TheStoryteller> Below you, Plantella has plenty of light now... but obviously it's of no use. Her "children" may fare better now, with an easy source of sunlight.

Old Capital Ruins

* Angharad sniffs the air. "I think we're done for the day. Aside from all the excitement, there's still a good chance of rain."
<TheStoryteller> True to form, nature answers Angharad's call as the coulds above begin to blot out the sun. It's a particular bad storm coming, alright. The first drops of rain land on her snout.
* Angharad wrinkles her nose, though of course the droplets have already been absorbed.
<TheStoryteller> The scouts definitely are in agreement. A soaking after a beating is not exactly fun.
<Angharad> Let's get back to camp.
<TheStoryteller> [Marv] Let's get these samples back. Hopefully something good can come out of all this.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] I still can't believe I owe Angharad my life. What a day. ^^;
* Angharad hopes he does not forget it.
<TheStoryteller> [2nd Scout] Hey, she saved us all. Try to stop complaining for once and just be thankful.
<TheStoryteller> [4th Scout] Okay, okay... maybe next time I'll save you, eh? ;)
* Angharad manages something of a grin; nothing too predatory. "Maybe."
<TheStoryteller> [3rd Scout] Oh brother. Can we just go?
* Angharad herds the scouts back to camp.
