Session Start: Sat Aug 16 17:13:47 2008 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging for #lunar-iog2 started * Retrieving #lunar-iog2 modes... == LUDE START == * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 77.2: Catechize - Emili | Location: Slagged Jerusalem? | Pool: 13 MXP (actually it's all gone) =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ | SEVEN PCS WALK IN, SIX WARP OUT' After dozing off upon Mikel's shoulder, Niri's mind drifts in an exhausted half-dreaming state... At some point or another, Niri finds herself back on the island of Ien, in the remains of the destroyed Chamber of Stars. There is a pillar in the center, upon which the diary of the Star Dragon is sitting. There is a strange aura around it, as the silver chain that once held to to Emili's waist dangles to and from, the only sound in the silent chamber. Up above the skylight is still destroyed from the battle fought here before. Traces of Emili's body and her bindings are nowhere to be seen, though there is a ghostly presence... * Niri blinks, looking around...although this doesn't seem real, she can still feel the celestial aura of the place. She takes a few steps slowly toward the diary, wondering what is happening, precisely. The book flutters open of it's own voalition in an unseen magical breeze, the pages turning to the tale of the Truth Seekers and their prophecy. "The dragon on wings of light and dark reveals the gate..." says the novel, penned in the hand that is familiar. * Niri sighs. "Emili. The Star Dragon who fell..." She shakes her head. "I'm sorry, Emili...I'm so sorry." As it does so, the picture alongside of it comes partially to life, and a ethereal image of the Star Dragon Emili bleeds out of the book into the air before you. She giggles once, as wings born of the sacred power unfurls around her white cloaked body. * Niri blinks, staring. "Er...Emili?" [Emili] Niri! Are you still feeling regrets? Maybe that's why I can't rest just yet. The story I was writing is not quite done, either... You're...writing a story? *She glances at the diary* And...how are you here? *she looks a bit guilty* You make it sound as if...I'm holding you here, somehow. Am I really? [Emili] *shakes her head* No, no. It's not your fault at all! This story is the tale all of us have been writing since I was born over 100 years ago... even though the destroyer is gone, it's not over just yet. [Emili] And when someone can take the memories I've been holding all this time, and be the new Star Dragon... * Niri pauses, thinking. "I'm...not sure who will do that. But I'm absolutely positive someone will take it up, someone reliable. You needn't worry about that, Emili." I'd...offer, myself, but... Emili laughs again. "Oh, I'm not worried at all..." Then her gaze hardens a bit. "I don't want you to take up this burden.. you & Mikel have to save your friend first..." Our friend? You mean... *she frowns* Are you talking about Trune? The angelic figure nods. "He's the key to how the tale ends, you know. The strange dissonance in his soul... it could really ruin everything we've faught for. The Elementalors are just a ghost of the past, like Ien! They shouldn't tell you what kind of future to make. That's our job." * Niri smiles faintly. "It makes me feel a bit better to hear you say that. It seems to...confirm that we made the right choice, turning down the Prophetess's deal. Even though..." Niri swallows hard... "even though we...lost Tanan." Emili nods somberly. "Tanan... you and he were very close. It seems like you lost a piece of yourself when he sacrificed himself. Poor guy..." [Emili] He always was a piece of Johnathan's soul, but I think he became more than that after having so much fun with you. * Niri nods. "That's exactly what it felt like. Like...I'm not entirely...whole, anymore." She tilts her head at Emili. "Having fun with us? I'm not sure I ever would have put that phrase together with Tanan, but...perhaps you're right, in a way." [Emili] Oh, sure, he was all serious about the 'mission'. But he was trying to avoid admitting he was becoming human along the way! [Emili] Believe me, I could tell! * Niri smiles a little. "Yeah...I was always at least a little convinced of that, myself. [Emili] I think you could be together again, if you wished hard enough for it... *smile* But now...just as he proved irrecovably just how human he'd become...it was all just in time to...for him to die. But I- *she blinks* What? * Niri frowns. "But he...he shattered, he's gone, he...that couldn't be possible." [Emili] Well, my body died, but I'm right here now, aren't I? I...suppose so. *She pauses* Maybe...I should have a talk with Johnathan. Maybe get some answers. When this is all over and we're back home. [Emili] You can really change the world if you wish hard enough. This whole Blue Star was the result of the Truth Seeker's dreams... Emili puts a finegr to ehr chin in thought. 'Maybe I needed to wish for more cie cream parlors, though." * Niri puts her hand over her eyes, sighing. "Part of me wonders if I...didn't wish hard enough before, and that's why he died. Maybe somehow I could have prevented all this." * Niri glances at Emili oddly, then slowly smiles faintly. "I'm with you on that wish, I think." [Emili] Hey, don't be burdened with regrets. You did your best! You've been struggling your whole lfie, trying to live up to being the child of heroes and stuff. [Emili] Hey, I was the Star Dragon and even I made a big boo-boo there... but that's how it goes. But you're still alive, and can still keep learning from your mistakes... Yeah...I wonder how history will remember me. *She sighs* Sometimes I don't think I've done a very good job of it. In fact...Emili, we spoke a bit, back there, but...I don't think I really finished saying all I wanted to you. *She takes a step forward.* I'm so, so sorry, for everything. I can't help but wonder, in a way, if I was...somehow responsible for your death. I know that sounds crazy, but.... Emili blinks then blushes a bit. I didn't LIKE you! At all! And I don't know why, I mean, I really wonder if in other circumstances we could have been friends... But...I don't hate you anymore. And I hope you can forgive me for thinking that way. *She looks at the ground.* * Niri does know why she didn't like Emili, of course - she knows full well but she certainly is not about to say anything. Emili, who was floating before, lands on the ground and moves to embrace Niri. Her glowing wings wrap around the heroine, as she can detect the faint hum of a song around her. * Niri freezes in surprise, then hugs the phantom Star Dragon back, tears trickling down her cheeks. [Emili] I'll admit.. I was a little mad at you, too... but that's just how emotions are. They are so silly... I...I know. Emili, I love him - heavens help me, I love him so much, and I didn't know it at the time, but now I do, and...I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me for that, but I...can't give him up. I just can't. [Emili] Maybe I should ask for forgiveness too. I mean, I could see you two were close, but... he wanted to make me happy and not lonely. But really, he was afraid to comfort you like that... * Niri steps back, looking at Emili in confusion. "Afraid?" Emili gets that mischievous grin, despite not having her demon half anymore. "Hehe. That's for you to discover, Niri... he had already given a piece of his heart to you, even before I showed up and whisked him into the skies that night." * Niri stares at Emili, then blushes bright red. * Niri is quiet for a couple of seconds, but then she speaks up again. "Emili...one thing you should know though, just in case you don't already." I don't understand much about the heart works, I really don't, but...he didn't just want to make you happy and not lonely. I mean...it wasn't as if he just felt sorry for you, or anything. He truly loved you, I know he did. I don't know if you ever doubted that, but you shouldn't, not ever. [Emili] Oh, I know his feelings were true... I still love him, and I always will... * Niri smiles. For once, hearing this doesn't hurt. I'm glad. [Emili] I thought he could be my successor someday. he's got the knack. In that case... *she reaches out her hand, offering it to Emili* Friends then? And no takebacks this time. I think...when we first met you, I really did like you. I wanted to be friends. I still do, if that's what you want. Your successor, huh? *she says this quietly* Emili reaches out to shake the girl's hand. [Emili] Friend? You bet. << friends* >> [Emili] You better make sure he stays out of trouble though! He's such a mischievous little boy! Emili giggles again. "But that's why I liked him." * Niri grins. "Same here, I think. Can say this, you're never bored around Mikel." So...your spirit will still be here, hanging around the diary, until you have a successor, then? Emili nods simply, looking towards the book. "It's funny actually... deja vu..." Deja vu? [Emili] It was only a generation ago when I was standing here like you, and my mom's spirit was the one that was trapped in the book after her death... weeeeiiiiird. I guess fate is silly like that, too. Yes. Things do tend to repeat. My dad's stories of his adventures...sometimes it feels a little like deja vu to me, too, the things that have happened on this journey. [Emili] You actually just relieved his final battle! The floating husk of Zophar you struck down.. he fought it exactly like that with Lucia by his side! The book flips a few times and sure enough there's a picture of Hiro wielding Ghaleon's sword in full color, supercharged by Lucia summoning holy rain down. * Niri nods slowly. Her recent memories are still filled with a great deal of pain. I hope my parents are all right, and that I...get to see them soon. I have so much to tell them. The narrative says "I will never be defeated.. as long as there is evil in the hearts of people... never..." But Emili...for as long as you're here, if you need anything, just call, okay? If you're able. * Niri reads the words, but keeps silent about them, shoving away the uneasy feeling in her heart. Emili waves a hand and the book shuts. "The echoes of this place and those painful times are almost over. I can wait a little longer to finish the story..." She looks up a little dreamily. "Maybe I could write a romance novel while I'm waiting!" Even as a ghost she's a little scatterbrained... * Niri blinks at Emili, then starts laughing - very hard. She wipes away a few tears of mirth from her eyes. Man, Emili, don't ever change. Okay? [Emili] Seriously though.. you realize that I'll never really disappear. Memories live forever, you know, as long as there are those people to sing about them and tell the next generation! No matter what happens, none of your deeds will ever be forgotten. [Emili] That's the star dragon's job, after all. But your job... well, it's a lot more exciting, hmm? * Niri smiles a bit. "I don't know, some I wouldn't mind having remembered, others I'd as soon have forgotten. But overall I think it's a nice thing to know." Exciting - perhaps! Sometimes a little too much so. *She sighs* I'm just so...so tired. I can't wait to go home. [Emili] You can't sleep forever on Mikel's comfy shoulder... otherwise I might get a little jealous. Teehee. * Niri blushes, suddenly remembering that's how she drifted off. "Um. Yes." ...and just like that, Niri finds herself jarred awake by the fact she's slipped off of her impromptu pillow. * Niri blinks sleepily. Only partly awake, she's still aware enough to suddenly remember her myriad aches and pains. Mumbling something softly, she readjusts herself into a more comfortable position and drifts off again...this time into more formless dreams. They are a bit more peaceful than before, however, and the expression on her sleeping face softens. As Mikel keeps watch, the diary of Sandra he is carrying twinkles in response, a guardian watching over them both. == LUDE END == Session Close: Sat Aug 16 18:35:08 2008
