Session Start: Sat Feb 16 18:31:54 2008 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging #lunar-iog2 to 'Current Logs\LunarIoG2\#Chapter 68.0~ insert title later.log' * Niri changes topic to '-= Chapter 68: Dinner at the Mansion | Location: Colonial Capital Meribia | Pool: 7 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' * Etir is now known as Tanan ==Session Start== * Niri waits at the resistance headquarters for the others to be ready to go to dinner. She fidgets a bit impatiently as she does so... * Vytor returns to the resistance HQ with Saki and Rachel in tow. "Hey Niri." * Rachel nods, Rachel just a step or two behind her. She's dressed up for the occasion... in the same foreboding armour she usually wears. All business today, apparently. «ooc: oh balls. » * Niri nods in greeting. "Met with much success?" << THAT DIDN'T LAST LONG >> «ooc: That was me, of course. Also stfu. » * Mikel has since ducked out on his own for about a hour or so, though he returns with time to spare before the dinner. With that he's retreated to a side room with the clothes from the shopping to prepare for the upcoming dinner. Saki and Rachel had better luck than I did. But I at least got half the manufacturing quarter behind us. * Ryllan steps down the stairs, offering a few words of encouragement to whoever he'd been meeting with up there. While his basic attire hasn't changed, he now wears his long flowing cape, not worn since his fight with Bree, what feels like an eon ago. Excuse me while I got get cleaned up. * Vytor starts peeling off his shirt while he heads into the sideroom where he kept his gear. * Saki grins pleasantly. "Horam needs some more organization, but we're off to a solid start." * Trune has been in a side room getting ready for quite a while now. Occasionally there's been a slight noise of annoyance here or there, it's been for the most part quiet. * Niri nods to Vytor, then turns to Saki. "Good to hear!" * Niri smiles at Ryllan. "Haven't seen the cape in a while. Looks good." It makes you seem a little more imposing. Maybe not a bad thing. * Saki tilts her head in acknowledgement. Rachel slinks off to the side. "Mm. I've eaten already... so I don't know how long I'll stick around for this. It's not really my speciality, and... I've more work to do back home." Just so long as you leave /someone/ at the dinner. Best if all sides at least have a representative involved. Hopefully this won't take long. We need to get her to understand what's happening and get her to start preparing her people. And make sure she doesn't poison Trune, I suppose. * Ryllan grunts, then reaches down to fiddle with something in his boot. * Trune , after a while, finally opens the door, shoulders slightly hunched over in what appears to be unease or embarrassment. Probably both. He's wearing a high necked black shirt with silver trim, black pants with his old boots, although they've been heavily cleaned and polished, and a bright red overtunic that's held together with a small silver pin in the shape of a griffin. His hair is slicked forward and isn't quite as flyaway as it usually is. * Niri grins as Trune appears. "Hey, Trune...looking good!" * Ryllan looks Trune over appraisingly, "Well, now, you just might make some alliances of your own, wearing that." I feel like a fop. A dandy. An idiot. All of the above. * Mikel steps out out of the room, letting out a bit of a sigh before straightening. A white collared shirt with a keyhole neck and a gold braid sewn onto the color with little sunbursts on the lapels. This is tucked into a black sash wrapped around his waist, the left side of it playing host to his sword while the right has the Virtue Bible attached to it. >> From the sash downwards he's clad in a pair of royal blue slacks along with a tailored jacket of the same color. A new set of black boots complete the ensemble. * Saki frowns at length, not especially looking impressed. * Tanan half-mutters. "...I thought this was a council of war, not a dress ball." * Mikel hefts his staff, resting it on a shoulder. "Someone is going to owe me a drink after all of this." Shh, Tanan. It's a strategic ploy. * Rachel makes gagging motions behind Saki. There are faint strains of 'the white--! the white--!' Trune and Mikel are going to pretend to be charming! * Niri winks to the guys to show she's joking. * Mikel mimes pointing a gun at Rachel with his hand, complete with little recoil motion. * Trune lets out a long sigh, "This is going to be so, so horrible. I need a drink." This'll help her take us seriously? I clearly don't understand women. * Tanan sounds thoughtful. "...or men for that matter." In some ways Tanan, that's quite okay. Women are confusing. No offense to the womenfolk here, but you totally are. * Vytor returns to the group a few minutes later. He's wearing clean clothes, but otherwise looks almost precisely as he normally does. Looking good, gentlemen. I approve. * Niri chuckles at Trune. "What, am I confusing, too?" I am biting my tongue because you are baiting me. It will only lead to pain. Mostly on my behalf, of course. * Mikel just shakes his head. "At any rate. Anything else, or are we set to go?" * Niri grins You? ...yes. ...Wait what? I am? I'm as ready as I'm going to be. * Saki shrugs one shoulder. * Tanan sounds amused. "of course!" * Mikel looks over at Tanan, hrming. "...try not to let on that you're more than just a fancy piece of armor. If she tries something that'd be an amusing little surprise for her." But. ...you don't think I'd add weight to the warnings? It's imperative that she believe us. * Trune nods, looking determined, "Ready." * Mikel mulls. "Hrrm. True." Tanan's right, MIkel. Okay, don't let on you can probably fire sharp spikes of crystal. If she tries something we're already off base. * Niri shakes her head in exasperation at Tanan, but then decides to get back to being a bit serious. Best we go. I doubt she'll be that forward. She's...more of the sneaky type. Wouldn't want to be late. * Niri nods. "All right, I'm ready. Let's go." * Mikel lets out another sigh. "Let's get this trainwreck going then." I'll.... right * Niri pats Mikel reassuringly on the shoulder. "C'mon, it won't be THAT bad, I'm sure." She heads for the door. * Vytor follows the group quietly. * Trune rubs his right arm for a moment, a slight frown on his face, then shakes his head and follows the others. * Stelas (~stelas@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Stelas * Mikel starts moving, giving Niri a nod along with a bit of a grin. * Saki (~arpee@192.168.0.51) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Saki * Vytor walks alongside Trune, saying nothing regarding his appearance, instead offering him a look of approval and encouragement. * Rachel (~arpee@192.168.0.51) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Rachel * Trune gives Vytor a wavering smile, then continues forward. It does not take the group too very long to make their way through the streets of Meribia to the mayor's mansion. Outside the imposing gates (carved with stylized rabbits), they meet up with a guard - male and not dressed as a bunny, however. "Name and business?" * Saki walks along the party's flank, Rachel framing the other side - for all the time she's visible, anyway. As they near the palace she drifts outwards from the group and slowly becomes more insubstantial. * Vytor remains silent, not the best person to handle formal affairs (as has been demonstrated previously). Ryllan Barak. We're here for the strategy meeting. The guard nods. "Oh, the dinner? Very well, please enter." He gestures, and another guard in the gatehouse opens the gate, leaving the way clear to proceed up the walk and to the imposing, carved wooden double doors of the mansion. (w) Heh, funny. This time, I get to use the front doors. Still the sense of impending doom, though. * Mikel raises an eyebrow, starting to walk forward as he mutters under his breath. * Ryllan strides forward confidently. * Saki ambles, which is an impressive feat in armour. She gravitates naturally towards the back of the group as they enter, keeping a low-level watch on the guards. * Vytor nods to the guard in passing. * Trune stands straighter, trying to look more confident, and walks forward. As they approach the double doors, a butler opens them and waves the party inside. They find themselves in a rather opulent front hall. From a nearby staircase they hear the sound of a musical laugh. "Ah, you're here! I was so worried that dinner would get cold." . o O ( And the maddness begins... ) Mikayla descends the staircase, dressed in a long gown of royal purple, with dangling diamond earrings and a necklace of diamonds at her throat, above a rather low neckline. Her red hair hangs loose, and she tosses her silky locks as she smiles charmingly to the group. * Saki nods a greeting. She's moved just to the side of the door, unconsciously guarding it. * Vytor bows politely. * Mikel glances up at the sound of laughter and the voice, though the dour look is completely gone and replaced by a rather cheerful smile. "Being late would make a bad impression, Miss Ronoke." With that he bows as well. * Trune 's eyes widen just a little upon seeing Mikayla and attempts to focus on what's ahead. * Ryllan inclines his head, "Good to see you again." Mikayla sweeps into the hall and gestures for them to follow her. "Please, please, come sit down. Dinner will be served shortly. I'm so glad you were able to come." * Niri fidgets a bit, looking uncomfortable. She glances at Mikayla self-consciously but does her best to smile. It's not the most convincing smile ever. * Trune looks at Mikayla with an approving look, "You...look good Mik." Trune's voice sounds sincere - the anger and hurt from earlier seems to be completely gone. * Ryllan follows Mikayla, rolling his eyes just a little once she turns away. * Vytor follows quietly, content to let the others do the talking. * Mikel twitches at the 'Mik', muttering something about sharing the first syllable under his breath. He follows after Mikayla with no other complaint however. Mikayla turns a dazzling smile on Trune. "Thank you! I must say, you clean up well, Trune." She enters the dining hall and takes a seat at the head of the table, gesturing for the others to choose places. * Saki lurks, and is getting extremely good at it. She steps away from the guard she's been one-upping, and takes a seat at a discreet corner of the table: closest to the door. * Ark is now known as Aleph A few moments later, some servants begin bringing tureens of soup in. Mikayla brightens. "Ah, the first course! It's a bit unusual, so I hope you won't mind...turtle soup is apparently an old world delicacy that some of my friends tell me is actually quite good." * Vytor settles into a chair not too far from Trune. * Trune sits close to Mikayla -- he is going to attempt to seduce or at least be civil, after all. * Ryllan sits directly opposite Mikayla, the message clear, "This needs to be a working dinner anyway. I hope you won't take offense if we don't take /too/ much interest in the food." After everyone is served soup, sliced loaves of bread are brought out as well, with herbed butter. Interestingly enough, there is also what appears to be a dish of peanut butter, and another dish of pickles. [Mikayla] Oh, not at all! I confess I am very anxious to hear the details of the reason for your visit. . o O ( ...See she still has her pickle and peanut butter obsession. ...I think that's one story I'll skip tonight. ) * Saki regards the soup for a long moment, then looks closer, swirling it in the bowl. She could be playing with it but for the scrutiny. At length, she tries some; then plucks away a slice of bread with ease. Mikayla sips her soup, then grabs a knife and begins to delicately slather a piece of bread with peanut butter. "Please, do tell me about your reason for visiting me tonight." She smiles winningly. "Not that I mind your charming presence, of course." * Mikel takes a seat near the head of the table as well, leaving his staff to stand straight next to him with a flicker of willforce. "At the same time, I can't object to some food to go with business." With that he starts with his own soup and bread, giving the peanut butter and pickles a wide berth. * Vytor starts to dig in, but remembers that some decorum is called for, and settles on grazing lightly. To put it simply, there's an army descending on New Meribia. We're here because we'd rather not see the city reduced to a pile of rubble. * Saki looks up, apparently satisfied with the soup. "... from the north. Bluetooth. Possibly underground, possibly overground." [Mikayla] You say an army...but what sort of army? Where could they possibly be coming from? Nothing lives out in Bluetooth, everyone knows that. The place is a deathtrap. *She delicately places some thin slices of pickle on her bread and takes a bite.* No offense, Miss Ronoke, but we've been up there before and have encountered them in the past. * Saki straightens up, sitting up fully and regarding Mikayla at length. "... you're right. We never said 'alive'. Hiro can back our information up." Vulcannon Labs can vouch for that as well, since Dr. Sonyele was the one who sent us up there in the first place to investigate. Yeah, Mik', they've been up at Bluetooth and have seen them firsthand. From what I heard, they're deadly. Mikayla raises an eyebrow. "Not alive? I have to admit I'm inclined to be skeptical. Exactly what sort of army IS this?" Tanan, you got a good look at them while you were up there, why don't you explain? [Mikayla] Please don't take this the wrong way, but Hiro Salyan DOES have a tendency to overexaggerate his adventures and exploits. Are you sure you can trust his estimation of the danger? Absolutely. * Niri barely manages to bite back a sharp comment to that. Considering we've figured out the old world project behind them and have tangled with them before, yes. [Mikayla] Hmmm. Very interesting. Do go on... * Vytor schools his face into neutrality. * Saki shrugs one shoulder. "... we're told they're on their way. But there's tunnels as well as overland. We ought to be prepared for both." A servant comes to remove the empty dishes from the first course, and Mikayla leans forward, her elbows on the table and her fingers interlaced, her chin resting lightly on the back of her hands. She looks at the group with apparent interest, smiling brightly at the gentleman in particular. [Mikayla] So, what is it you except from me, if that's the case? The servants bring the next course - a juicy roast covered in some sort of brown sauce, along with steamed vegetables and a heavily spiced rice dish. * Mikel leans back in his own seat, nodding. "Like Saki said. They're made to be rather durable, which shouldn't be a surprise considering where they're coming from of course." He closes his eyes, mulling for a moment. "Cooperation between all the people in the city to fight off the threat for starters. Ryllan?" * Niri serves herself a slice of the roast, but just picks at it, glancing at Mikayla a bit glumly. Simply put, we can't be fighting eachother and this army at the same time. A ceasefire, at least for the duration. Integration of forces might be too much to hope for, but we can't be working at cross-purposes either, or the city will fall [Mikayla] Hmmm. Difficult to accomplish...you know how much unrest there is in the city at the moment, as hard as I've been trying to quell it. ...but if there's anyone who has the knowledge and know how to bring a city together, it's you, Mikayla. All I ask is /your/ orders, Mikayla. I can keep control of my forces. [Mikayla] Bree certainly did not engender good will, and Liza did little better after she took over. *She turns a winning smile on Trune* Oh, you do exaggerate! I only stepped up because the guard was floundering without a leader. But I HAVE seen the conflict level off in some parts of the city... [Mikayla] Forgive me - Ryllan, was it? - if I do not trust your ability to keep control of the rebel forces. They seem bent on tearing this city apart at the seams, I have to warn you. Things have just gone from bad to worse, ever since Bree was killed. It doesn't speak well of the group. * Mikel chuckles. "Like he said, from the sounds of it things seem to have improved in general since things went south after the Prophetess's arrival." He opens his eyes again, looking up at Mikayla. "Orders would be a good start... though considering the threat is annihlation, people should be able to be convinced to put aside fighting over how to run the city until that is dealt with." * Saki loses the pleasant edge to her voice as her face hardens. "... you are currently looking at Horam's representative for this crisis," she intones with just a little edge in her tone. "As long as we can fight, we will protect the town." [Mikayla] Ah, Horam, is it? I thought your people mostly kept to themselves. * Saki blinks once, and the edge doesn't go away. "... we also protect our own. And others, if need be." Mikayla nods. "I see! Well, I hope you will forgive me for saying so, but I've taken the liberty of checking up on this threat...at least as much as I can on short notice. My supporters and aides are gathering information as we speak. Hopefully it will corroborate what you say. If it is true...we should discuss what kind of an arrangement we should make." * Mikel tries some of the roast, looking rather content with the food while Mikayla speaks. He looks up at the last few words before swallowing. "How long do you expect them to take to get the information together?" [Mikayla] I might be willing to accept your aid. However, any move I make right now as mayor is of critical importance and must be handled carefully, lest the situation in the city spill over into chaos. This is not the time for a clash between factions to erupt, don't you agree?" A knock sounds on the door, and a small contingent of guards appears - both male and female, though none dressed in the bunnyguard uniform. They all bow and salute to Mikayla. "Ah, perfect timing! Please, come join us." She gestures to some empty seats at the table. "...My advisors." Two women and three men take seats at the table. They actually look rather dignified and imposing - they are dressed simply but have an air about them that inclines one to take them seriously. * Mikel shifts his attention towards the advisors for a moment, examining them for a bit before chuckling. "Question withdrawn, then. Sorry about that." Mikayla chuckles wryly, her eyes twinkling a bit at Mikel. "I'm rather well known for my impeccably good timing that way." * Saki watches them sidelong. She appears to have been thrown off her zen a little. One of the men bows solemnly to Saki, noting her watching. * Trune glances at the advisors, then Mikayla, and suddenly loses his appetite. This may not bode so well. * Vytor nods in turn to the advisors. If we can hammer out an acceptable deal, you won't have to worry about a faction-related clash, Mikayla. I speak for the Resistance, Saki speaks for Horam. Black Rose has generously agreed to support this move. * Saki nods carefully in return. Not hostile, but not entirely accepting just yet. * Mikel favors Mikayla with a gesture with his wine glass and a smile before taking a sip. Mikayla puts a hand on Trune's arm. "Let me introduce you! Itulin, Yanna, Edressa, Nelden, and Kandro. Some of the best strategists you will ever meet." * Trune glances at the advisors, but doesn't seem to react to Mikayla's arm on his right hand. In fact, it's almost as if he doesn't notice it's there. She leans in a little bit toward Trune as she says this. * Trune does notice the leaning and his breath quickens slightly. He swallows. The advisors greet the party, some of them making quick small talk among themselves. One stands and goes to whisper in Mikayla's ear for a moment, and she nods thoughtfully. He then returns to his seat and begins to serve himself from the roast. Mikayla speaks up. "Well, my advisors have found no solid evidence for this advancing army...though they are hearing rumors, some that actually appear to have begun before your arrival, so your claim seems credible. In that case, I think we should discuss terms for my assistance." * Mikel sets the glass down on the table. "Those being?" [Mikayla] First of all, my primary aim is to ensure the safety and stability of New Meribia. I cannot be party to any action that would jeopardize that stability, so any alliance must be under my command. I cannot take orders from anyone else, as that would weaken my position. I'm sure this would be a technicality when it comes to preparing our defense, of course... [Mikayla] Surely we will easily agree on the best course of action when planning the defense. * Ryllan sits back quietly, waiting for the rest of the list. [Mikayla] Also, no offense intended, but you do represent several different unknown or unreliable factions. I am hesitant to ally with rebels without some safeguards. . o O ( So she'd be in charge of everything. Aaah...and there is the Mikayla I know. ) * Saki apparently considers Mikayla's words very carefully; she's thinking hard. Safeguards? [Mikayla] Perhaps a symbolic gesture to ensure the safety and cooperation of all those involved? Say, an exchange of...shall we say, guests. Exchange? One of you will stay at my mansion with me while we prepare to ward off the attack - with the most honorable treatment, of course. And one of my advisors may go with you. << Aaah voice from above.>> << Flee in horror >> «ooc: Kill it, KILL IT! » * Saki 's voice is quite flat, even for her. "... you've a preference?" * Ryllan nods, "Fair enough. We should also do the more standard sort of prisoner exchange. You have some of my better fighters in your dungeons, and I have more than a few of your guards under guard. Hm. Reasonable I guess. [Mikayla] Hmmm. Fair enough, I suppose...but I would prefer not to release any prisoners until just before the attack. At that time, all able-bodied fighters who will defend New Meribia will be allowed to do so. That'd leave precious little time for them to get organized, Miss Ronoke. [Mikayla] As for a preference...Trune and I have so very much to catch up on! Might I ask for him to stay with me for a while? *She smiles brightly at Trune, squeezing his arm warmly.* I'm sorry, that won't be possible. [Mikayla] Surely there are not that many prisoners. And you may certainly contact them with plans and messages in the meantime. [Mikayla] Won't be possible? *She raises an eyebrow* * Trune closes his eyes - he more or less expected this turn of events. ==Pause!== * Huwafk is now known as Huwnap ==Resume!== * Mikel takes another sip from his glass, letting Ryllan field this one for now. * Ryllan smiles without much warmth in it, "We've brought some specialized equipment with us. Trune and I are, unfortunately, the only ones who can use it effectively. It also needs some preparation time, and we've traveled a distance you wouldn't /believe/, recently." Mikayla shrugs. "I would be happy to accompany him and to help you set it up if need be." * Mikel nods, picking up Ryllan's line of thought. "Custom cannon from Vulcannon labs. Trune rides in our Land Rover where it's attached so it was made for him and Ryllan. I'm not essential to its operation though, since I was usually forward scout during our travels, so I could stay instead." Mikayla smiles slyly at Mikel and bats her eyes. "Mmmm...perhaps. Perhaps. Still, though...I must insist that Trune is essential to my preparations here, as well." I...am? What sort of preparations, if I may ask? [Mikayla] Oh, yes! You are the only one who knows all the details of our previous plans, back when we were first forming our theories, after all. I really must show you the defenses that have come from that research. You'll be SO excited." ... Show and tell can wait until the army is dealt with. * Mikel chuckles. "Trune can probably fill me in on the particulars if needed, at any rate." * Saki glances at Trune to gauge his reaction, then turns back over towards Ryllan with a shrug. "... if they're defences that will help..." * Trune 's face darkens just slightly, "Your theories...right." [Mikayla] Oh, I'm afraid it can't. I really do need Trune's help in particular on this. I think you need to understand something before we go any further, Mikayla. * Saki leans back in her chair, closing her eyes and waiting for it. * Trune looks down at the table, apparently deep in thought and looking anxious on how to answer all of this. He brings a slightly trembling hand to the side of his head. [Mikayla] And what is that? *She looks a bit distracted, however, at Trune's reaction, and she frowns at him thoughtfully.* * Ryllan stands, slowly, reaching behind him to draw forth the Staff of the Prophets, "Were you there when Bree died?" Mikayla raises an eyebrow. "No. But I have heard about what happened." * Mikel leans back in his seat slowly, still holding the wine glass in his hand. Yanna was, I recognize her. Which means she should recognize this. * Ryllan places the staff down on the table. How do you suppose we got this? * Niri looks as if she would like to say something to Trune, but as she is across the table, she can do no such thing. She merely watches the exchange tensely, not touching her food at all. * Mikel can't help but smirk. You need to stop assuming everything we do is designed to take you out. Because I assure you, if that was our goal, we would be gone. The advisor named Yanna peers closing at the staff. She raises an eyebrow. "Are you suggesting that this belongs to the demon-witch?" It did. You know of any other material that remains only semi-solid? I relieved her of it during one of the battles between her and us. Two others of the advisors speak together quietly. "We have heard tales, but nothing with solid proof." "Semi-solid proof," jokes Saki with all the humour of a lead weight. * Mikel lets out a groan. Mikayla raises an eyebrow at Saki. * Saki keeps an impressively stoic face going, her eyes still closed as she listens along. Regardless. I don't have time to fight you on every little thing. We can sort out the plays for power after the city is safe, if you like. But right now we need to move, and I don't have time to play games with you. So I need to know /now/, if you're fighting alongside us or if we're evacing everyone we can and leaving you to rule a pile of rubble. Your call, make it. * Ryllan stares at Mikayla, voice as cool as the smoke off dry ice. [Mikayla] Your confidence and tenacity do you credit. But I am not convinced that the fate of the city rests in YOUR hands exclusively, and although I don't wish to see it destroyed, I also care about the state of things after the attack. [Mikayla] I'm afraid I must insist on Trune's presence here, for at least one or two days. * Tanan speaks up finally, pitching his voice sternly and with a slight echo. "We do not have time for games. Understand, Mikayla. I have no objections to falling under your command in the defense of this city, but I will not allow you to seperate these people. I promise you, when the destroyer comes, your only hope of survival lies with us." * Trune stiffens, letting out a deep breath, "(w)...the destroyer...I..." Mikayla looks surprised, looking around for the source of the voice. Her advisors stiffen, one of them getting out of his chair and looking around warily. * Mikel simply points at the armor Niri's wearing. "He's there." Before you have the entire place searched. * Tanan shifts shape around the shoulders, a bit of light pulsing through himself showily. Mikayla's eyes widen momentarily, then narrow with slight suspicion. "Do introduce yourself, then." She looks at Niri for a moment, then at the armor. * Niri looks back at Mikayla defiantly. "This is Tanan." * Saki opens one eye Mikayla's way with a frown, regarding that end of the table owlishly. You can call me the representative of master Hylan and the academy, if you would like. [Mikayla] Very well then. But you will not allow me to separate them? So you don't trust my promise that he will meet no harm and will be returned to you in good faith within two days? Two days. You know where they are, then? You know when the attack will come? You can't even confirm they're here. [Mikayla] If the rumors are true, from what my advisors have been ascertain, I would not expect them before then. And if they do come sooner...then all the more reason for me to have Trune's help immediately. We don't have /time/ to play your power games. We need to operate on the assumtion that the attack could come at any moment. Trune will be needed with the rest of them, unfortunately. Mikayla's eyes flash. "You don't think I know this? You think this is a game?" Unless you'd like to share what this defense of yours is. * Trune finally speaks, and his voice is strangely...confident, "I know it's not a game. I know it's not with you. You swear to keep to these terms if I agree to them?" * Vytor bites his lip. Itulin shakes his head. "That is confidential knowledge. Rest assured that it will ensure the safety of the entire city, however. You may trust Mistress Mikayla's word." Mikayla turns to Trune, giving him a questioning look. "Yes, I do. Are you willing to agree to them, then?" Trune, shut up. But, Trune... Mikel goes as well, or you have no deal. I'll only agree to them if you swear to back them up with whatever they ask of you. The destroyer has to be stopped. Mikayla looks at Mikel appraisingly, quirking a small smile. "Hmm." She turns to Trune, nodding solemnly. "I am willing to cooperate to defend the city if you agree to my terms, yes." * Mikel hides a frown with another sip of the wine, watching Trune carefully. ... If you so much as back off of them, then bets are off. Tanan is right, you either cooperate with these people, or you'll die. It's that simple. * Tanan sounds pleasant now, his tone conversational, warm and friendly. "If Trune wishes, then all right. But if any harm befalls him, I promise you that you will all have long lives." Mikayla looks mildly amused. "Is that a threat, then? I didn't think you were the type for threats, Trune." [Yanna] Long lives? It's not a threat. It's a fact. << I assume he meant not long lives >> Itulin leans over to Yanna. "You don't want to know." * Saki huffs out a breath, and as the arguments begin again she gets to her feet, fist resting lightly on the table. Ever had the feeling you're about to end up with two tables? It's exactly like that, though she seems serene and unmoving, and her eyes are still closed. * Tanan is almost sing-song now. "Very long lives." Itulin nods. "Understood. You have our word that we will defend the city." * Saki straightens up all of a sudden, all quiet smile, the table still intact. "... mmm, I suspect I can't be of much use here. If no-one minds, there's things I need to be organizing." * Mikel lets out a bit of a sigh, lowering the glass. "He is stating a fact, and I have to agree with Ryllan having me with him as well." Go on, Saki. Make sure you send someone to strategize with us. We want all forces to be used optimally. * Niri frowns at Trune and Mikel. "...I don't like this." Mikayla hesitates, then nods. "Very well. Mikel may stay as well." * Trune suddenly looks confused, putting a hand to his head, "(w) What...did I just say?" ... * Ryllan (~michaela@S0106000d889816ff.cg.shawcable.net) Quit (Ping timeout) * DooM_GazE (~michaela@S0106000d889816ff.cg.shawcable.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o DooM_GazE * DooM_GazE is now known as Ryllan * Saki huffs in amusement, and shakes her head. "... mm, perhaps. You know where to find me if I don't, and we've a decent spread of fighters around town already. That 'doing our own thing' again; silly us, offering unconditionally." Mikayla does not respond but fixes Saki with an unreadable glance. * Ryllan nods at Saki absently, thne looks at Mikayla, "Fine, then we should get to work. You have a war room, I presume? Ideally we'd set up everyone's strategists there. Unless you'd rather meet with us somewhere else? [Mikayla] Your choice. Shall we meet at dawn? Fine. ...and me? Mikel, Niri, a word with you before we leave. * Saki frowns to the side, at a spot on the wall. "... well, if you're volunteering..." She shrugs, throws the room a nod, and turns for the door. ...Trune, you too, if Mikayla can let you out of your sight? Sure. Mikayla nods. "Of course. I will go speak with my aides about preparations for tomorrow. One moment." She stands and sweeps out of the room, two of her advisors following. The rest hang back, but allow room for the others to speak privately. * From somewhere just behind and to the left of the remaining Rachel drifts into focus, a ghostly outline that could have been a large vase or a statue shaping into a slightly less solid version of Saki. "I can be your 'strategist' for Horam," she grins, "And get around town faster than any of the others." * Niri stands and goes over to Ryllan, following Mikayla's departure with eyes flashing angrily. "...Yes?" «ooc: +advisors » * Mikel grins at Rachel, setting his glass down and getting to his feet. He makes his way over to Ryllan, picking up his staff along the way. "Points for the entrance. Yeah, Ryllan?" * Ryllan nods at Rachel, "Thank you." * Trune sinks his head into his hands, looking absolutely ashamed and perhaps terrified of what just happened. Yanna nearly falls over, seeing Rachel appear. * Vytor stands quietly from the table, but does not look happy. * Ryllan moves over to Trune, kneeling down, "Trune, Mikel needs to know, if he's going to be your only companion for a while. I can tell him or you can, but we need to do it quietly." * Niri looks at Ryllan, then her eyes widen. "...You know, Ryllan?" * Mikel glances at Niri before rifling through is pockets and taking out a set of keys. "Here. Take care of the Stormrider for me, hm? Also bring me my travel bag so I have something besides this damn outfit." You...tell them. You were right...they have to know. I...I can't form words right now. They might not be mine. * Mikel frowns, looking at Niri and then at Ryllan and then at Trune. "...what's up?" * Niri looks very worried, putting a hand on Trune's shoulder and squeezing gently. * Rachel pats Yanna on the shoulder with an amused air, then peers at Trune for a lengthy moment, circling around him to flank Saki, who's stopped with a curious glance back. * Niri nods to Mikel. "All right. After we get back to HQ, I'll return with your things. And yours, Trune." * Mikel tosses the keys to Niri with a small grin. * Niri catches them easily * Ryllan nods, "Okay." He looks up at Mikel, "This is the 90-second version because we don't have much time. And so help me if you start shouting I'll beat you to a pulp. Trune's been infected by something called a thought virus. A remnant of the Elementalor that was posessing Leah. It's trying to convert him, somehow, into that Elementalor." Oh. * Mikel looks at Trune. "Is that... what happened back there?" * Trune nods, "All I could think about what was the best way to stop Zophar...we needed the power, so I..." Hm. Fair enough. We can work something out about that when we get some time. * Tanan murmurs. "So he's...? Hmm." ...Sorry I didn't tell you before, Tanan. I promised. * Ryllan nods, "Keep watch. If something happens, You may need to restrain." Ah. Well. I can do that. Can't be harder than tying down Pandora. * Trune finally raises his head, looking surprisngly haggard, as if he was trying to hold something in for a very long time, and finally does not have to hide it anymore, "I'm sorry it went this way. This wasn't what I planned. I swear it." * Vytor hangs back and waits for the private conversion to close. * Mikel waves a hand. "Don't worry about it. If you start getting all weird again I'll give you a wake up jolt next time." * Niri goes over to Trune and gives him a quick hug. "Listen, you be very careful, okay? And listen to Mikel. He'll help keep you from going...weird. All right?" * Trune can't help but smile slightly, "Yeah, I know. You be careful too, okay?" * Saki exchanges a solemn glance with Rachel, then rubs at her face with a sigh while Rachel sticks her hands behind her head non-commitally. At length, they both appear to reach a decision. "... we need a drink," they both say in unison, and Saki waves over her shoulder as they both motion a guard out of the way. "... we'll be at home," she finishes. ...keep an eye on him, Mikel. We need to be double sure he stays safe, now. * Niri then goes to hug Mikel as well. "You be careful, too. And keep an eye on Mikayla - I don't trust her one bit." Heh, you can see I wasn't talking shit about how crafty she was, huh? * Mikel returns the hug, grinning. "She isn't worse than Xenobia yet in my book. We'll be fine." He nods, looking down at Tanan. She's not done yet, either. Be careful. Tch. I promise, if she betrays us, she'll have time to think about it. I have nothing to do for the next few decades. I'll flash freeze her for you then. Speaking of which. * Tanan sounds as though he's half joking and half angry. "I can't drain eyeballs if they're frozen." * Mikel glances at Ryllan. "Keep someone watching the mansion. If willforce starts flying out or that guardian bird does, it means there's trouble." * Niri makes a face. "Thanks for that mental image, Tanan." * Ryllan nods, "Always. Anyway, watch your ass and be careful. I want you both back in one piece." * Niri nods as well, looking a bit reluctant to leave. "....Are you sure I shouldn't stay too?" No, you stick with the group. Nah, she'll get sucipious. She wants me, and I think I know why. What was the talk about theories, anyways? Mikayla...was the one who got me studying the elementlors to begin with. She started it all..it's how I met her. We made the deal, Niri, we have to live with it. Aah. * Niri sighs. "All right. Guess you're right." Show her Pluto. Then let Pluto loose on her. * Mikel shrugs. * Niri grins. "That's a good idea, yeah." * Trune grins a wide, chesire-cat grin at the thought of any of the elementlors wailing Mikayla, "...oooh yeah." * Mikel pats Trune on the shoulder. * Huwnap is now known as Huw Let's go. ...Hey Niri? Hm? I...I have a favor to ask you. If...you could find something for the pain and to help me sleep if you bring back any of my stuff...I'd appreciate it. * Niri has a look on her face that's difficult to read, but it's not pleasant. She nods grimly. "I'll do what I can. Promise. I'll be back in an hour or two." Works. * Trune looks greatful, "Thanks...I'm sorry I have to ask that of you." No, it's all right. I promise I'll do what I can. *She takes one last lingering look at Mikel and Trune, looking very worried, before following Ryllan.* ...Hey, Mikel? You know how you said tonight was going to be horrible? Should have listened. * Mikel gives Niri a reassuring smile before looking at Trune. "Eh, this is about par for the course. Least we'll get a decent pad." Maybe. * Mikel grabs a chair, taking a seat and smirking. "So. How much of a reaction will, say, Gemini Storm get from her?" Honestly, she'll think it's awesome. Good, that'll distract her then. * Mikel finally raises his voice, looking at the other two advisors. "So! Where are we going?" Hopefully not a dungeon, I hope? Been there, done that. That'd be pretty far from honorable treatment. One of the advisors shakes his head. "I can't say. Mistress Mikayla will return shortly, however." ((Oops)) * Niri is now known as Mikayla Hm, fair enough. * Trune crosses his arms, "Fine." * Mikel points a finger at one of the full glasses of wine, gesturing as it rises up and begins to warp into different shapes in midair. << it being the wine >> ...Hey, don't waste a perfectly good glass of wine. I could really use some of that. It's fine. * Mikel flicks the finger downwards, sending it back into the glass. * Aleph is now known as Ark Neat trick. I'm so SORRY about that! The kitchens were a disaster. But dessert is on its way! *Mikayla sweeps back in, all smiles.* S'just the theft trick. * Mikel looks up, offering Mikayla a cheery grin. "No worries, Miss Ronoke." * Trune doesn't return the smile. He looks quite serious now. * Mikayla sits back down at the table, as a couple of servants bring in bowls of creme brulee, setting one in front of each of them. Mikayla turns to the other two. "Thank you SO much for accepting my invitation." * Trune sits down, staring at both Mikayla and then his bowl of dessert, then at Mikayla again. He can't quite believe she's back to being Miss Cheery Sunshine girl, "You're...uh, welcome." * Mikel nods his thanks towards the servant, taking a bit of his creme brulee. "Again, no problem. If it helps make this all work out well, after all..." * Mikayla takes a bite of her own dessert, then tilts her head and watches both of them. "So tell me about yourself, Mikel." * Mikel blinks, leaning back in his seat. "Hm? Well, I went to the academy for a while but split before graduating. Figured I'd do better on my own than there and all that. Nothing that exciting, really. Worked a few jobs, ended up signing on with Vulcannon for scouting and making sure nothing troubled the survey team. Ran into Trune and the others there and got mixed up in a hell of a trip." ...technically still under contract with them. We didn't work out a fee for saving the world. * Mikel closes his eyes, seeming to give that serious thought. Mikayla looks amused. "Saving the world?" ((Oops. Drat.)) Your group seems to be quite a strange mix. * Mikel grins. "You have no idea." * Trune half-smiles, "A bit, yeah." There's the Horam woman, the rebel leader, the silent bear of a man, the girl with the...the talking...armor? * Mikel nods. "The professor, yep." I don't know about her, she seems a strange one. The professor? The armor. * Mikayla blinks, then shakes her head. So, do tell me, Trune. Does she always hang all over you like that? ...Who? What? * Trune blinks at the random subject change. * Mikayla laughs * Mikel shifts ever so slightly, watching Mikayla and Trune as he takes another bite of his dessert. Oh dear, did I say something wrong? * Mikayla leans over toward Trune. She seems to be wearing some kind of alluring perfume. "You always were so cute when unbalanced. * Trune 's face hardens when he finally gets a drift of what's going on, "Always have to have the last word in, eh Mik'." Last word? Whatever do you mean? * Mikel takes a sip of wine, remaining quiet while the two spar. Oh, I don't know...that last little word in every conversation so everyone knows where you stand. Where I stand is that I've missed having you around to make me laugh, of course! * Trune tries very, very hard to hide his skeptisism, "You did?" * Mikayla nods. "You seem to have difficulty believing me. What happened is long past...but when it happened I was doing what I thought was the only way to save all of us! I tried so hard to get you free, Trune...I really was very worried about you. * Mikel closes his eyes, hrming. "I'm surprised you didn't send a message after he made it out." * Trune can't help but look flabbergasted, "But...why!? She was believing us before you started in on all of that! We were so close to convicing her, Mik'! If you said nothing, we may have never been there at all!" * DooM_GazE (~michaela@S0106000d889816ff.cg.shawcable.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o DooM_GazE * Mikayla shakes her head, saying darkly, "You wouldn't say that if you knew what I found out from her followers later. She was toying with us, Trune. She did that with everyone." * Trune looks surprised, and unsure, "She did?" * Mikel takes a sip of wine. Under the table, he gives Trune a nudge. "Either way it would have panned out, it is in the past though." Here and now is what matters, and what lies ahead. R--right. He's right. I'm sorry. * Mikayla nods. "So, Trune...you really do have to tell me what you've found out since we last saw each other. I've heard rumors that you've discovered something important...but nothing solid, nothing I could confirm." * Trune looks cautious, picking at his dessert, "I'm not sure what the rumors have been telling you, Mik'. It's not really all that exciting." Then you haven't really discovered anything about the true nature of the elements? You're sure? Hmm, the elements? Well, I've had some theories on it. I've written a pretty big thesis on it because well, I'm going to need some way to support myself and prove it. I've been travelling with the group trying to find out information...take notes here and there. * Mikayla looks ever so skeptical. "What have you found out so far, then?" Well...hope you like chickenscratch. * Mikel offers Mikayla a smile of his own. "Don't suppose you can fill me in a bit on all this? Trune's mentioned bits of this from time to time but.." * Trune rummages deep into the pocket of his slacks and pulls out several worn papers, filled with notes and writings. * ChanServ sets mode: +o Etir Here, these are just some of my notes. Most of it is on some evidence of people who were able to go beyond just simple willforce stuff... * Mikayla takes an extremely interested look at the papers. "Wow, Trune...this is amazing! If it's true...well, I certainly hope we can find the evidence to prove it. It just might help prove some of the theories I've been working on, as well." She beams at Trune, leaning in close. "I have to tell you what I've discovered!" I'm all ears, as it were. * Trune leans back in his chair, breathing slightly easier since Mikayla may have bought his ploy, at least for now. * Mikayla puts a hand on Trune's arm again, looking at him excitedly. "What if a person could gain the power of the elements - not just as simple willforce, but to actually BE the power behind them, controlling them? I may have found a way to do that, to harness greater control of the elements." * Trune 's eyes widen as he thinks of what this could mean, "You can...How?" * Mikel gives Trune another nudge before closing his eyes, chuckling. "...Harnessing greater control of the elements, hm?" * Mikayla grins. "I'll show you, after we finish our dessert." She runs he fingers down his arm, then goes back to her creme brulee, giving him a sidelong glance and a smile. * Trune glances as Mikayla runs her hand down his arm, and colors just slightly. When you say harnessing greater control, what exactly do you mean? More powerful techniques, or possibly completely new techinques? * Mikel gives Trune another nudge as he talks, this one with the slighest of jolts. Completely new techniques! It's...I don't know how to describe it! *She seems very excited now.* * Mikayla catches some movement from Mikel and gives him a sidelong glance. ...Anyway. Here, let me show you! * Mikayla holds out her hand and summons a flame, hovering just above her palm. It looks like perfectly ordinary willforce. She grins. "Now watch." * Mikel sets his spoon down, leaning back as watching the flame carefully. << as=and >> * Trune watches Mikayla now, also setting his spoon down. 4>> The flame begins to dance... jumping about in the air above Mikayla's hand. It spins itself out into a winding, twisting rope, then begins to dart around the room - winding in and around the candlesticks, the table legs, ruffling Trune's hair as if passes. It seems warm, but not unpleasantly so, and it doesn't appear to burn anything. As it moves, it grows larger and larger... 4>> The room seems lit with an orange glow. 4>> The rope of fire twists itself into the shape of a bell, which actually rings - making an eerie sound, something like a bell's chime but with an underlying crackling tone, the flames licking hungrily. * Mikel lets out a whistle, nodding. "Far more control than you see in normal willforce techniques. Impressive, Miss Ronoke." Yeah...this is incredible, Mik'. * Mikayla grins, waving a hand and dismissing the flame. A moment later, vines spring up out of nowhere and begin to curl around the back of Mikayla's chair. 3>> The vines curl and wind over the table, flowers bursting into full bloom and filling the room with a heady scent. The vines spill onto Trune's lap and start climbing his chair as well. * Trune looks startled now that he has a freakin' garden on his lap. Hmm... you specialize in Plant and Fire then? Oh, no! These are just a few of the elements I've studied. I admit I'm rather adept with these two, but I have mastery over many elements. * Mikayla waves her hand, dismissing the vines, which vanish into a thin, green mist that quickly dissipates. Mikayla leans closer to Trune, grinning. "So...what do you think?" I'm...impressed. Really impressed. I can't believe you discovered all of this. * Mikel nods, letting out a sigh as he closes his eyes. "Of course. People with limited elements are so rare. Still, rather impressive... I suppose I should show you my trick as thanks, though I can only work Water and Thunder." What sort of trick? Is it anything like Trune's abilities? ...But then, it wouldn't be, with only two elements. * Trune blinks, looking at Mikayla suddenly with a slightly scrutinizing look. * Mikel smirks. "No one can best me when it comes to those two. Give me a bit of room, Trune?" Uh...oh! Right. * Trune stands up, and takes several steps back. * Mikayla looks intrigued and leans forward, watching. * Mikel opens his eyes, glancing around. "...not /that/ much, but fine. Hopefully your security won't have a fit about this." He raises a hand, water and thunder swirling around the arm and up towards the hand. A snap of the fingers and he's engulfed (along with the chair) in a storm of electricity and ice. As quickly as it arrived it fades, leaving the two elemental Mikels. * Mikel` (Zack@DORMS-89-104.loyno.edu) has joined #lunar-iog2 >> Mikayla's advisors, two of whom are still in the room and only vaguely paying attention, stiffen when they see Mikel's actions - but Mikayla calms them with a wave of her hand as she watches, entranced. * Mikel` is still sitting in the chair, shifting forward a bit with a satisfied look and actually managing to not get anything wet. The electric counterpart meanwhile is leaning against the back of the chair, back turned to the rest at the moment. He smirks at one of the advisors. >> The advisor scowls. * Mikayla looks at Mikel with wide eyes. "How did you...how..." * Mikel raises a hand in a game wave. "Calm down, calm down." (w) Told you she'd think dig it. «ooc: - think. :( » * Mikel` chuckles. "A bit of luck and a fair amount of agonizing pain. This is Gemini Storm." How does it work? Two for the price of one. It's a pretty awesome deal. What are the drawbacks? It seems it must be dangerous... Adapted projection effects, but instead it plays off the duality between the two elements I can use to form us. We're seperate enities, yet joined still. For better or worse in some respects. * Mikayla taps her fingers on the table, deep in thought. ...Trune? Have you ever tried anything like this? Before we mastered it the results were each weaker than the original. Now though, well. * Trune shakes his head, "Splitting myself in two? No...I've been able to eke out two willforce techniques at once with a lot of effort...but splitting myself in half? Nah. I like myself in one piece." In Trune's case you'd probably get eight. Which is far too much of a risk. * Mikayla grins, leaning closer to Trune. "I like you in one piece, too. Although...I suppose having two of you would be interesting..." * Trune can't help but smirk, "You really want two of me giving you my trademark crap?" * Mikel` closes his eyes. "No, you could probably concentrate various elements into two seperate projections. It'd be difficult at best..." ...You don't know how I've missed your trademark crap. * Mikel shoots a glare down at his watery self. "Stop that. Also, multiple Trunes is a terrifying thought." * Mikayla laughs ...Hey! C'mon. You don't have to rub it in. You opened the door, sorry. Feh. * Mikayla chuckles and rests her head on Trune's shoulder for a moment, her hair brushing his cheek. "It sounds intriguing, though." * Trune stiffens just slightly at the head on his shoulder. He tries really, really hard not to stare down at her red tresses. It's extremely hard, though, "It does, but...it's not really my thing." * Mikel lets out a low whistle, then an 'ow' as he gets smacked by the watery half's staff piece. "Anyways, just so your advisor stops giving me a death glare..." The two crackle for a moment and then there's one Mikel spinning the chair around to face the two. "I'll drop it for now." * Mikayla lifts her head again, laughing. "You always were more hesitant than me to jump at the dangerous experiments." * Mikel` (Zack@DORMS-89-104.loyno.edu) has left #lunar-iog2 * Mikayla applauds lightly to Mikel. "Very impressive. Thank you for the demonstration." I don't mind jumping into dangerous experiements if I know they'll work. Then they wouldn't be dangerous, would they? Yeah, but I always liked that concept of living just a little too much. Such a shame! You really are missing out. So! Mikel, would you like my advisors to show you to your room? * Mikel points at Trune. "And him?" Sorry, but he isn't leaving my sight. I do believe I heard someone at the door a bit ago. I believe some things have been brought for you. *She glances at Trune* Oh, we have so much to catch up on! But I won't keep him long, I'm sure he's tired. Do you trust me so little, after I've been such a good host? * Mikayla looks a little pouty and cute. * Trune gives Mikel a look, obviously knowing full well what Mikayla is getting at. * Mikel smirks. "It takes me a bit to warm up to new friends, sorry. Also Ryllan would have my hide. He stays in eyesight." Such a strict chaperone! You have no idea how much it's killing me. Oh? *She raises an eyebrow* Is he that difficult to keep in line? No, this is a reversal really. * Mikayla chuckles. Something about charging headlong into danger and being too reckless for my own good and the like. It's a shame your other friend, the girl with the armor, couldn't stay. Although I admit the armor is a bit off-putting. Heh so he admits it. She likely wouldn't be nearly so strict, now would she? Or...perhaps she would. I don't think she likes me. I admit nothing, Trune. Just repeat what others say. Tanan takes a bit to get used to, sorry. Niri wouldn't be letting Trune leave her sight either, though. Don't think too badly of her...she's got a lot on her plate right now. Oh? Is she that possessive of him? Oh Trune, you do have the ladies charmed, don't you...? Though I'm sure you could do FAR better. She watches out for her friends. And we watch out for her. * Mikayla shrugs dismissively. It's obvious she doesn't think much of Niri. * Trune actually looks a little angry at that last line, but bites his lip, realizing voicing his thoughts would be a bad, bad idea, "She's a good person, and my friend. I respect her." * Mikel tchs, eyeing Mikayla. "I see the feeling's mutual." Well...if you respect her, then I will take you at your word. I'm sure she must be worthy of respect if you give it to her so freely! * Mikel closes his eyes, nodding. "You have no idea." Y-yeah...no idea. * Mikayla raises an eyebrow at Trune. There's something odd in her expression as he says that. Although, a question. Hmm? Is there somewhere on the premises where one can practice willforce? I might as well keep Trune at his best while we wait for trouble to come knocking, though it'd be interesting to see how your ability works in a more pressing situation as well. Oh, of course! One moment, and my advisors will escort you. * Mikayla gets up and goes to speak quietly with her advisors for a moment. One of them nods and leaves the room. The other stays behind. * Trune rubs a finger between his eyes, watching Mikayla. He seems a little on edge. * Mikayla returns, tilting her head at Trune. "Is something wrong?" Er...! Nothing, just a little tired, is all. I'm sure you both are, as it's been a long day! I understand you've been mobilizing the city's defenses already. You know me, Mister 'I failed the phsyical education exams let's laugh at McVrey." * Mikel blinks for a moment, tapping a finger on his leg before standing. "Not /that/ tired, but it'd be a good idea perhaps. I assume you have a room ready for both me and Trune?" * Mikayla nods. "Yes, everything is prepared. Shall I escort you? You do seem very tired indeed! Mm, more than I thought. ...Mikel? * Mikel shrugs, tapping a finger on his sword hilt for a moment. "Lead the way." * Mikayla goes to Mikel's side and offers her hand to help him up, smiling warmly. Session Time: Sun Feb 17 00:00:00 2008 * Mikel reaches up to take Mikayla's hand, returning the smile with one of his own. Yeah...I'm beat. If you could show us our rooms, that'd be great. * Mikel blinks again, stumbling a step before catching himself. A hand starts to shift towards the book as he shakes his head. "...well then." * Mikayla winds her arm through Mikel's, effectively blocking his hand from reaching the book as she smiles. "I hope you will be comfortable during your stay here! You really are welcome guests, you know." * Trune then stops, glancing at Mikel now with definte concern, and what would be akin to a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. * Mikayla stops, tilting her head. "Are you all right?" * Mikel reaches around with the other, half wrapping it around her as if to hold himself up. He hisses something under his breath, smile replaced with something between annoyance and anger. Yanna! I do think they've had a longer day than I thought...would you help this gentleman to his rooms? >> Mikayla's advisor nods and comes over to take Mikel's arm. >> Yanna helps Mikel toward the stairs. * Mikel groans, blinking blearily before his gaze sharpens once more as he looks straight at Trune. "Blast the window." Mikayla hooks her arm around Trune's firmly. * Trune nods, already understanding what's happening. He doesn't have his athames anymore, but he's already tracing a willforce symbol with his index finger. * Mikayla waves a hand, and the willforce symbol seems to...stop. It's as if he's writing with a pen that has suddenly run out of ink. ...What?! The hell is this all about, Mik'?! Don't be so rash, Trune! B-break somethi.. some... guh.. * Mikayla smiles. "You don't want to do something you'd regret before you know all the facts, do you?" * Trune attempts to break Mikayla's grip on his other arm, "Fuck that, you DRUGGED him?!" * Mikayla laughs. "Would I really do something so harsh? My, Trune, you have only become more paranoid." * Mikel slumps a bit, attempts to speak dying at this point with a groan. >> Yanna manages to frogmarch Mikel out of the room. * Trune blinks as his eyes take on a slightly blank look, as if he has lost his focus, "You're...what are you doing...?" * Mikayla leans in, her voice going softer. "All I really wanted was to get you alone for a moment, Trune," she murmurs. "Is that so hard to believe?" Nngh...haven't changed...you haven't changed... * Mikayla chuckles. "You say that like it's a bad thing." She traces her fingers down Trune's cheek. "And we were once so close..." * Trune is struggling to think clearly, swaying slightly, "You...You shouldn't have..." ...shouldn't have betrayed me to begin with! Oh, Trune, I've told you why I did it! And I truly did have second thoughts later, whether I'd chosen right. I thought I could get Bree to release you, but she was tougher to convince than I'd suspected... * Trune jerks his arm backwards in an attempt to free himself, his face now set in a mask of anger, "Bullshit, you expect me to beleive a word you told me after that STUNT you just pulled?" * Mikayla tightens her grip on Trune's arm. "Listen to me, Trune. There is a great deal going on here, things I couldn't talk about in front of your friend. There was no easy way to get you alone. Do you understand?" Do you even LISTEN to yourself? You harmed my friend! Don't you get it? And you thought I'd be okay with this? I think my words to you were if you harmed ANY of my friends that our little deal was off, hmm? Well, sorry babe, guess you blew it. Big. * Trune is already tracing yet another willforce symbol in the air, his face a set mask of determination, "Out of my way." * Mikayla shakes her head. "Oh, I don't think so, sweetheart." >> There is something strange about Mikayla's voice as she says this...the willforce seems heavy in the air... * Trune blinks and lowers his hands, his face suddenly a mask of panic. He tries to fumble through his pockets, pulling out a ring with shaking fingers, but cannot keep a grip on it. It drops to the ground with a dull ping. * Mikayla leans in closer, gently shoving the ring aside with a toe. She smiles sweetly at Trune. "Do calm down. You're far too easily panicked!" * Trune closes his eyes, slightly swaying now, "...damn...damn it..." should've...just punched you...in the goddamn face... * Mikayla 's words seem to weave around Trune like the vines did around his chair earlier. She traces her fingers down his arm. "Shh, relax...your friend won't be hurt, he'll wake up well rested. All I wanted was a moment alone with you..." * Mikayla laughs. "Ahh, how endearing of you." * Trune opens his eyes now, and they look blank and unfocused, "A moment...I..." As articulate as ever. * Trune just makes a soft moaning noise. Unfortunately whatever Mikayla did is not exactly helping his cerebral process. * Mikayla guides Trune over to a chair and gently sits him down, sitting next to him. Now, Trune, I really do need to talk with you privately for a moment. I must know what you truly discovered about the elementals... I can sense how much the power has grown in you since we last met. You can't hide the change - it's even more dramatic than my own abilities. * Trune shakes his head a little, seeming to regain a bit of his thought process, "They're real. The Elementlors...all the theories were true." * Mikayla 's eyes sparkle. "So that's where you obtained your newfound power? It was all true? Oh, Trune, I KNEW it!" All eight of them...each of them represents an elemental power....they're human...but.../more/. They were created long ago... * Mikayla leans in close, so that she is actually leaning into Trune. "...Human, but more? Mmmm. An attainable power...?" Attainable...yes. Through the ECC...me, it's possible. Trune, you must share this power with me. It's vital to the fruition of my research, to the salvation of all my plans - this invasion, otherwise it will destroy everything we've worked for. You must help me!" * Trune doesn't say anything, but he nods in affirmation. * Mikayla 's eyes dance jubilantly. "Oh, Trune, you have no idea - the power we can wield, the respect we can command! And so many laughed at our theories!" * Trune finally stops being a passive sitter. He actually leans into Mikayla's embrace. * Mikayla laughs joyfully and then wraps her arms around Trune. She smiles slyly at him. "It's time to get to work, I think, Trune. We have so much to do." She leans in and kisses him. * Trune returns the kiss in kind, wrapping his arms around her as well. >> After a moment, Mikayla seems to almost glow with a strange force. Trune feelings the willforce being slowly drained out of him, and her own elemental energies appear to grow slightly. Then it halts as she breaks off the kiss, standing and pulling him up after her. "It's time to show you what I've been working on, Trune..." * Trune nods, squeezing her hand, "Show me...we can do this together." * Mikayla nods, leading Trune out of the dining hall and down the stairs. ==Session End!== Session Close: Sun Feb 17 00:58:49 2008
