Session Start: Sat Dec 15 21:49:44 2007 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging for #lunar-iog2 started * Retrieving #lunar-iog2 modes... * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 61: Silk Road | Location: Crystal Spire | Pool: 8 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' == SESSION START == After restocking travel supplies at Landing, the group now sets its eyes upon the lost civilization said to be under seige in the far east, and with it questions about Leah and the Vile tribes answered. Warping back to the Eden facility, the Destiny Land Cruiser is ready to take off from the lush oasis into parts unknown. Thanks to Vytor's hard work, Mikel's ATV has also been restored to working order! Saki also cooks a meal of their hunting proceeds, as the team is bolstered to max HP/MP * Vytor has no sooner finished Mikel's project, before he's moving onto the many more he has jostling around in his head. Or rather, they would take off, if not for the sighting of a strange metallic object in the sky, approaching fast from the west. ....Oh dear. What is it now? * Niri points at the object. * Vytor breaks away from his notebook, and looks at what Niri is pointing at * Mikel offers Vytor plenty of thanks once the Stormrider's completed. Of course, as Niri speaks he looks up and peers at where she's pointing. * Saki walks out of the complex, shouldering her pack roughly. At Niri's call she glances up and to the side, instantly wary. What the heck is that supposed to be? As it approaches, you can hear the dull hum of rotor blades. It sounds much like Emiria's helicopter she escaped on, but the pitch is much louder and it appears to be from a pair of said propulsion systems. Don't know, but I have a bad feeling about this. Let's just wait and see. Blowing it out of the sky might be premature. But depending on who comes out... As it approaches steadily, you can see it has two wings, and a belly within which is carried some kind of cargo. There's crackle on your radios that accompanies it. * Mikel frowns, hauling himself up. "...Sounds like Emiria's ride. If she comes out this ought to be fun." Let's not blow it up until we know for sure, okay? * Saki drops her backpack again, hauling it onto the back of the Destiny with a single wrenching throw and leaping up there herself immediately afterwards. "--get /ready/," she barks. "If it's trouble, we need to be on the move quickly--" She frowns at her radio, and pokes it from her vantage point. [Radio] Dropship VL-1 calling Mikel... Hey, you read this? Hmm, that sounds a lot like someone's voice.. Chrissy? Dr. Vulcanon? * Mikel ...raises an eyebrow, grabbing his radio. "Mikel here... wait, Miss Vulcanon?" * Mikel gives the dropship another look before thumbing the radio again. "We need to have a talk. I don't suppose Doctor Sonyele's on there too?" [Chrissy] Hah, there you are! I figured you were alive. Persistant guy that you are! [Chrissy] We've been tracking your progress for awhile now. Then your beacon registered a massive failure. * Mikel is now known as MikDinner * Ryllan blinks, "What's she doing on this side of the world?" Looking for us, obviously. I'd like to know that too. If we can't get around the barrier, how come she can? * Saki shrugs with an empty sigh, and sinks back into lying out on the deck. She probably knows something we don't The aerial transport closes in further and comes to a halt overhead, as it's rotors suddenly tilt from forward facing to horizontal, as it amazingly hovers! Whoa o_O One of the doors opens and down comes a ladder upon which Chrissy slides down, her white hair blowing in the breeze. * Vytor waves enthusiastically As she lands in a cloud of dust, you can see she's in some type of pilot's suit. * Niri waves to Chrissy as well, although slightly more reserved than Vytor [Chrissy] Yo, Vytor! How's the Forge handling? * Saki heaves herself up to at least be sitting, head poking over the line of the cargo bay ridge. She nods, if visible. Hiya Doc! [Chrissy] Oh, and if your'e wondering how I got here... you realize I'm not immune to that black energy barrier either - it just happens I was following you when I got blockaded out of my own research center. [Chrissy] So I figured I'd make the most of it and check out what was going on! I suppose that means you'll have to take the long way home too. Oh, yes. About that following us. I want to thank you for nearly getting us killed by neglecting to tell us things. * Niri winces slightly at Ryllan's lack of tact * Saki puts her hand to her forehead with a weary sigh. "... please, let's not try to alienate those allies we still have." Chrissy looks around into the distance. "Hey, you can't hold me responsible for equipment malfunctions... it's in the disclaimer. But really, how was I supposed to know the beacon worked both ways? If that thing comes back, I have ways of dealing with it." * Vytor goes quiet. ...Is THAT why the tank followed Mikel? [Chrissy] It could have been the reason. Noone really knows for sure how some autonomous things are programmed till you rip 'em up. [Chrissy] On that note, that Zophar citadel is one scary place to buzz! You're telling ME. [Chrissy] You're going to need some major firepower if you ever want to bust into Jerusalem HQ. But from the looks of it, he's coming to us first. * Vytor nods in agreement * MikDinner is now known as Mikel Wait, wait? [Chrissy] That shield over the colonies is denser than your skull sometimes Vytor! WHo knows what's going on back home now? * Mikel just gives Chrissy flat look. "Do I still get hazardous duty pay for getting blown up at least?" Chrissy laughs. "Yeah, you do. SOnyele put that beacon on your bike because she was worried about you." [Chrissy] Too bad I can't give her the good news right now. But what can you do... * Ryllan sighs, "And, ironically, proved her worry justified." He shakes his head, "Anyway, you saw Zophar's forces mobilizing?" * Mikel sighs, shaking his head. "And here I was going to rant for a bit about bugging me, too. So... yeah, what Ryllan said." [Chrissy] It looked like they were splitting up. There was a force protecting Jerusalem from all angles, but then a sizeable chunk split off and headed to the Colonies. Maybe to rendezvous with forces inside already. There's some kinda war brewin'.. War? * Mikel frowns. "And we're locked out." Any chance of intercept before they hit the barrier? * Saki shakes her head. "... that's fine. We don't have the power to take them on yet; we've more important things to worry about." [Chrissy] It's not likely they can be stopped by our current technology. Best I can guess, the fleet is heading straight for Meribia, to do some blockade from letting Mel and his boys get back. Mmm. Saki may be right. [Chrissy] More important things? Mmm? DO tell... Knocking out the source of the barrier, for starters. [Chrissy] Really? How's that work? Normal weapons don't seem to do anything. * Saki nods her head. "... we've business in the east, too." Which is why we go to the scource. Some... /things/ are generating it. Kill them, barrier goes down. Easy as math. Hopefully also take down one of Zophar's people in the process. Its a good a plan as any. [Chrissy] Hrm. So the barrier's being made by some stuff in the east? * Mikel nods. "Yep... oh, Miss Vulcanon. Has there been progress on that request I gave to Doctor Sonyele?" [Chrissy] Oh yeah... the big friggin gun. Chrissy grins and pushes a little remote control in her hand. * Vytor raises an eyebrow at all this. One of the cargo containers in the ship overhead starts lowering via a winch system, to which Chrissy starts pointing a fist in the air then pumping it up and down several times as a signal, followed by a thumbs down. Crank, crank, crank, goes the large box, which lands on the sandy soil with a thump and a little cloud of debris. ...This can't be good. The sides of the crate then slide open on both ends, and the top folds away to reveal a wrapped up silver alloy cannon, complete with multiple sheathes on the barrel and enhanced electronic systems to channel overcharges. "Merry Christmas." * Mikel grins from ear to ear, making his way over to the latest method of wrecking people's days. "This is possibly the best gift ever. It can be mounted on the Destiny, right?" Do I want to know what this is? It's not Christmas! Normally I wouldn't make a fuss, but I'm not sure Mikel should be allowed heavy firepower except on special occasions. ...I already /have/ heavy firepower. * Saki blinks at the thing in more than mild conclusion. This is WHY I have formed this opinion. I've seen what happens when you get to use it. This is just more! And it's for the Destiny anyways. There's no way in hell I'd mount something like this on the Stormrider. [Chrissy] That's right. This thing is so cutting edge, it doesn't even have a name yet! But it sure has a lot of power and it's meant to be mountable on the new Land Cruiser XL heavy series, turning it into a battelfield light skinned vehicle. * Mikel ...frowns, looking at Chrissy. "I'm checking it for bugs first though." What's it do? * Saki ... continues to blink. "... shoots things, I assume." Willforce cannon, Vytor. [Chrissy] It lets you do more of what you do best. Able to withstand what we put the poor things through. [Chrissy] Knowing Mikel, that's blowing crap up. Hmm. Could be useful. How long you figure to mount it? It's so good to have a boss that understands me. [Chrissy] I can have it attached in an hour tops! Need a hand? * Niri snickers at Mikel * Saki , still a little dazed-looking, hops off the Destiny and stands well-clear. [Chrissy] Sure Vytor. You and I can forge some rails to give it extra mounting points and shocks to absorb feedback if fired while in motion. Okay. [Chrissy] Once we're done with that, what say I give you fellas a lift? To the east is a huge mountain range that's no easy matter to cross by land. That'd be great! ...can I fly for a bit of that trip? * Mikel looks hopeful. Sounds like a good idea. Can you drag the Destiny around with that thing? Chrissy rolls her eyes. "Haha, sorry Mikel. I just restored this thing. I'm not letting the controls out of my sight for a minute." ;) [Chrissy] Sure, this winching system is oldtech and meant to carry around tanks! [Chrissy] The Destiny is no problem at all. * Mikel lets out a sigh. "I totally take back the understanding me compliment then." [Chrissy] Hey, let the boss have her toys, will ya? * Niri grins at Chrissy. "You're sensible, at least! Mikel causes enough trouble with Stormrider. ;) " Chrissy then smirks a bit and puts an arm around Vytor, brandishing a wrench. "Now let's go make some money." * Mikel eyes Niri. "Traitor." Right. * Saki sulks off to one side, frowning and looking quite uncertain - possibly just envious or grouchy. * Niri grins and winks at Mikel. Let me RIDE on it and I might change my tune. Let me drive it and I'll love you forever. And so the sulking Saki gets a good view as the winch is used to lift the rather heavy cannon unto the rooftop of the Destiny under guidance, while Vytor takes some convenient blueprints from Chrissy and fabricates the needed mounting parts in the field. You know, I keep meanign to let you ride but we keep warping or flying everywhere we have to go << meaning* >> * Vytor looks considerably more chipper. Its been a good day for him. Or I have to drive through minefields. ...Speaaaking of which. MIss Vulcanon, when you can get back in contact with the labs there's tons of old tech around there. And unexploded weaponary. And a roving tank of mechanical doom that blew me up. * Saki carefully stays out of the way beyond some heavy lifting, being entirely unsuited to complex mechanical work. From time to time she offers helpful tidbits of advice such as 'I'd much rather punch things'. [Chrissy] *sounds of riveting and fastening* ..oh, well that was the other reason for the beacon, sort of. I figured you'd lead us to some good stuff. Shame a lot of it is working for the enemy. ...So I'm getting a finder's fee, right? Some things are too far away to punch. But if it makes you feel better saki, I'll see about using you as ammunition in this thing someday ;) [Chrissy] Oh, you little swindler... what, you gonna bill me for saving the world next? I'd have to collect from everyone in the world then. You know how long that'd take? Chrissy mutters. "I'm gonna need another lien of credit from Ramus at this rate..." We could just collect from governments. And maybe banks. Meribia can be first then. * Saki frowns. "... technically, we already did that part. ... mm. Speaking of which, let me see that coin." [Chrissy] Good luck collecting from the colonials right now. It's a freakin free for all. This surprise attack is timed just too well. * Mikel looks over at Saki. "Coin?" * Saki flicks her wrist. "... mm. Not coin. That thing you picked up from the bank, it was mentioned in the Spire." Oh, the treasury note. * Mikel plucks it out of his pocket. The whatsory whosa? [Chrissy] Tresury notes? You suddenly an investor now, Mikel? Now it all makes sense * Saki nods. "... mm. I need to take a look. Something about what they said." * Mikel holds it out in front of Saki. He might be waving it about at this point. "More like collector. This place is apparently still standing... and don't worry, Miss Vulcanon, I'm not gonna bankrupt you guys." Unless you keep tracking homing bugs on me. * Saki plucks it from Mikel's hands, taking a look over it. The note is colored in red ink, and states that when resturned to the Chinese government, the bearer is entitled to 100000 Yuans plus interest over a 30 year period. << keep putting homing bugs, even. I cannot think >> * Saki hums to herself interestedly. Then, with infinite care, she folds it up neatly, makes sure the corners are not creased, and without preamble or reason pockets it inside her jacket. [Chrissy] Look, I'm sorry about that. Won't happen again, I promise. ...hey! * Saki then proceeds to smirk with self-satisfaction as she clambers back up onto the Destiny. "... it could be useful for more than just money." * Mikel just sighs. Bad enough you skinned those rabbits and stuff right in my face but sheesh. >> Saki jacks Mikel's "Yuan Treasury Note"! Relax Mikel, Saki's got her reasons. Chrissy just sighs and helps Vytor finish the cannon up. Within a short while, it's secured. "Want to try it out?" We'd better. It'd be bad news if we needed to use it and it fizzles. Mikel, give it a shot, would you? We'll test two shots. ONe without me and one with me. * Vytor steps back. * Saki leans over the edge, looking highly amused. "... we might need it to chase some leads down or make connections once we're over in that direction," she explains further, before looking mildly panicked and getting the hell out of dodge before they fire the cannon. There's a convenient cactus right in front of the Destiny's boresight, almost shivering in fear of what fate might before it. << befall >> * Mikel perks up. "Sure." He climbs into the Destiny and settles himself at the cannon's controls, looking around. "...hm, need a targ- ah." He adjusts the aim slightly... then proceeds to channel an ice spell through the device! There's also a wide range it can swivel to face, as Chrissy tests out the bearings and gears. Mikel channels an ice spell and the device hums to life, growing immediately chill to the touch and belching forth a high velocity icicle at the poor defenseless plant life. With a mighty smash, the cacti is now frozen food. Popsicle anyone? ...Hey, neato. Can I try a wind spell? Good test Sure. Ryllan can test out his trick on it when you fire. [Chrissy] That was a baseline, now get wonderboy in here to crank up the juice. 'wonderboy' is it? Least you're not 'swindler' * Vytor continues to watch. Well, fire 'er up, Niri. Cool! * Niri tests out the cannon with her best Whirlwind! * Ryllan lays a hand on the cannon's controls, willing power into it. The chilly silver sheathed cannon now becomes charged with ionic energy, the overload circuits coming online to bleed off excess willforce into the leyers as a horizontal vortex of wind spirals out of the barrel with the force of a miniature hurricane. A few shrubs and the frozen cactus are ripped from the ground and tosses hundreds of feet away from the force * Mikel lets out a whistle. * Saki takes a very careful step back, and coughs politely. * Vytor applauds lightly * Niri grins. That was FUN. So, you still want to ride on the Stormrider or do you want to be with the firepower? Nice shot. * Vytor goes to make doulbe sure that the weapon remains in order after both test-fires. There appears to be no damage to the system that Chrissy can detect with a quick inspection. "It seems to work. Nice." Vytor notices some small spots of stress, but it is holding well. Well done, Doctor. * Vytor hops down from the Destiny, satisifed that the weapon is ready to be used again. If we've got everything under wraps, then maybe we should get ready to go? * Mikel slides out of the Destiny as well, nodding. "...Too bad this wasn't ready earlier, but we'll definitely get good use out of it." [Chrissy] Better late than never. You can't rush progress. [Chrissy] Now, one last thing before we go flying off. Could you tell me what else you know about where we're heading? * Vytor flips open his notepad, flips to the correct entries, and offers the pad to Chrissy to read. ...weeell, it's apparently a nation that survived the whole end of the world deal. Hrmm. Not a whole lot...but whoever is out there has been here since the Devastation Wars. We aren't really sure if they're human or not. * Saki nods, speaking quietly. "They have to be: apparently one of us is connected to them, remember?" Hmm. Well, if you put it that way, guess you're right. That's the rumor. * Mikel frowns for a moment, busying himself with looking over the cannon again. "Considering the source though, it's probably right." * Saki makes her usual bedding-down spot in the back of the Destiny with a usual level or care and effort - that is, she mostly just falls over and hunkers down. [Chrissy] So some civilization survived? That's amazing. I'd think after all this time they were mutated or something by the radiation. * Mikel makes sure the Stormrider's secure in the cargo bay as well, hrming. "Hopefully they won't shoot us or anything." I suppose we'll find out the truth once we get there. Yeah, I was wondering something similar, Chrissy. * Saki shakes her head. "... mm. Better to think of it that maybe they've got something we can use to reach Lazarus okay." [Chrissy] Well, Mikel, if they are thinking they are the only ones alive.. ever think we might look like monsters to 'em? * Lucca (~lucca@216.86.190.178) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Lucca * Lucca is now known as Trune << omg >> * Niri pokes at the cannon, wondering if she can get away with trying Musica on it * Mikel shrugs at Chrissy. "Only one way to find out... what are you doing, Niri?" [Chrissy] Guess no way to know but to go say 'hi'! True. Chrissy streches and works a kink out of her arm. "I'm going to return to the dropship. Just gvie me a signal when you want to get moving over the mountains." One day I will be able to fly something. * Vytor goes to get the supplies ready for the trip. Chrissy winks and hops back up onto the ladder, which is cranked up back into the hovering twin-rotor plane. Hmm? I'm just wondering how Musica would do on this baby. * Trune hmms and looks at the cannon, "It would probably make something explode. A lot. So...good I guess?" It'd be like pumping it through the Harmonic Engine, wouldn't it? * Vytor starts lugging things into the Destiny's cargo bay, careful not to disturb Saki. * Niri grins. "Yeah, probably. That'd be awesome." More concentrated though, I'd think. ...I need to freeze us a good target for that then. Like Zophar. Or the Prophetess. * Saki appears to be napping and/or getting out of work with her usual level of skill and grace. She does open one eye at points, shifting her legs out of the way at other points, but mostly looks like she could use the rest. I support this plan, Mikel. * Vytor sticks his head out the cargo door, "Anything else we need to shove in here?" It's a pretty simple yet awesome one. * Niri grins at Mikel and gives him a thumbs up. * Mikel peers over. "...Looks okay to me!" Session Time: Sun Dec 16 00:00:00 2007 Let's start rounding everyone up then. * Mikel gestures for folks nearby to start getting in and goes looking for anyone who wandered off in the meantime. Shiro looks chipper to be able to get going, not liking the deserts overly much. Come on folks, let's not keep those nice people in the east waiting any longer than they already have. * Niri nods. "Right. Well. Let's HOPE they 're nice." * Saki waves a hand lazily; it pokes over a miscellaneous box in the back of the Destiny and hopefully becomes visible. Shortly afterwards it dead-drops. Maybe they're just a little surly, but have heaving hearts of gold underneath. Kind of sounds like a musical in the making or something. Considering our track record... We're gonna be singing soon? * Vytor chuckles Niri can sing. Me singing would cause an incident. * Niri snickers. I'd like to hear that, someday. No, no, no, /no/. A thousand times no, etched in the unmelting ice of the north. * Niri snickers and waggles her eyebrows. "Oh, YES." C'mon Trune, help me out here. We can form a pop trio and take Meribia by storm. I'll help as long as you never make me sing, ever. * Mikel buries his face in his hands. "Oh goddess let's get flying before I jump out." ...Did you miss the TRIO part, Trune? * Niri giggles mischievously. No. I just chose to ignore it for the good of humanity. * Niri inches closer to Trune. Come on your three, you can discuss your future business plans on the way. ;) * Niri tries tickling him Aggh geez don't you dare! * Niri cackles and leaves him alone. "Okay, Vytor. C'mon gang!" There are no future business plans. Nothing involving me singing. Death defying stunts yes, singing no. The VL-1 hovers overhead, the air filled with a constant steady hum of the propellers and the downdrafts whipping at the sides of the Destiny. [Chrissy] *over radio* You all strapped in nice and tight? * Vytor settles into the Destiny, making sure his seatbelt is well-fastened. * Niri responds a few moments later. "Yup! I am." * Niri is all belted in and ready to go. * Mikel doublechecks, grabbing his radio. "Yep! Let's fly!" * Ryllan climbs back into the driver's seat, making sure to strap in, "Try not to drop us, please." Ready here. [Chrissy] I'll take good care of you, boys and girls. Besides, I wouldn't want to damage Jack's masterpiece! He wouldn;t forgive you if you did. [Chrissy] we'll likely be hitting some chop on the way over, so I suggest you get all the cargo secured or else it's gonna be a pinball machine in there real soon. Heheh.\ Lovely. * Vytor looks over the seat and gives Saki a warning look, "That means you." * Saki has the good grace to look embarrassed as she drags herself, a shambling mound covered by a blanket, into the cabin of the Destiny. Good Saki. There's the whine of gears as the winch comes back down and appears to be two cables, not one. They both hook into the undercarriage of the vehicle, while a third cable comes down and hooks to the cannon rails to stabilize the others. * Niri grins and shakes her head at Vytor and Saki. * Mikel snickers, sitting back and propping his hands behind his head. "Pinball Saki would be amusing though." We don't have a cook, we have a pile of blankets who occasionally produces delicious food. And punches things. Then goes back to the blankets. [Chrissy] Liftoff in 3...2...1... Remember that the same blanket beat you up during training today ;) * Saki just Lurks in the back of the Destiny. It is a very palpable Lurk. The whine of gears returns, this time straining a moment or two. But finally the wheels of the Destiny come off the ground as it dangles midair, held fast by the steel cabling, inching carefully up closer towards the underside of the transport. This should be interesting. [Chrissy] Welcome aboard Vulcannon airways. Flight 1001 to China now departing... hehe... Yeah...never actually flew before. This could only be improved if I was at the controls. No. Aw, come on. There a quiet moment as the vehicle reaches the stable point of the rise and the system locks in place. The ground below is quiet a distance away! Hopefully everthing holds properly... The desert dunes and the Eden facility are clearly able to be see from this vantage point. * Mikel mutters something about tanks as he looks towards the desert. Not until you get your pilot's licence. * Trune peers out the window, looking a little awed. There a jerk downwards suddenly as the turboprop rotors swing forward with a loud cranking noise, and then a violent sway backwards as the craft propels itself forward with surprising speed. That so? Hey, Miss Vulcanon! When's the next testing period? [Chrissy] Sorry Mikel, but I think this is a little out of your league yet! Man, no faith. * Niri chuckles. Seriously Mikel, piloting the Stormrider or the Destiny is child's play compared to flying a plane. I could learn. Eventually yes Mikel, seriously, just...no. But its not something you can pick up by experimentation. If you crash teh Stormrider, you get hurt. If you crash a plane, you DIE The Destiny rocks back and forth for a while, getting some a little queesy... but eventually it levels out, dragged along at a constant pace. Below, you see the plateaus beneath, and to the west through the windshield, mountains tall enough to scrape the clouds. Always with the crashing. I'm serious Mikel. * Mikel lets out a sigh and closes his eyes again. * Trune is quiet now, looking out the window at the landscape below. * Saki eventually peeks her head out of the blanket, frowning down at the passing landscape. "... I think I prefer ground level," she decides at last; she doesn't look queasy, but does look kind of like a trapped rat. It's really quite breathtaking at the massive peaks, covered with snow, interdispersed with high valleys that hide ancient secrets of what might have existed before.. if even there was something here in the first place. To their south, there is also a huge river plain, with lush jungles and vegetation. Driving through some of that down there would have been a pain. [Chrissy] Lesse... if my old maps are correct, to the south there was once a great place called India. This whole area in general was a real spiritual center. * AmyAway (Amy@c-71-193-218-63.hsd1.or.comcast.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Trune sets mode: +o AmyAway [Chrissy] The tallest mountains on the planet seem to make for a real good sightseeing trip if nothing else. Really? These are the tallest mountains? Hard to tell from way up here. As you progress into the higher elevations, the winds kick up a bit and the Destiny rocks once more. * Niri (Amy@c-71-193-218-63.hsd1.or.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout) * Etir (~Nehn@dynamic-acs-24-239-125-230.zoominternet.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Trune sets mode: +o Etir * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 61: Silk Road | Location: Asia | Pool: 8 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' * Mikel opens his eye, looking out at the landscape. "...I need a cam- whoa! - camera." Oogh....man I don't feel so good... Trune, please, whatever you do, do NOT open the window Yeah...really, the image of my vomit killing people really makes me feel better. Ugh. In the distance past the mountains, you begin to see many narrow gorges and rivers carving a path through the highlands. Beyond them lies more fertile floodplains, but there is also something strange. [Chrissy] Hmm, looks like I've got some kind of structures appearing on my long distance scanners. Structures? Actually Trune, the idea of all of us being suddenly sucked out the widow by the difference in air pressure doesn't excite me. Didn't consider that, and that's equally unplesant. [Chrissy] Yes, there's.. several large ones.. domes, it looks like. Maybe a city? Dome cities? The airspeed slows down as Chrissy becomes more cautious in her approach * AmyAway is now known as Niri Gah. So yeah * Niri peers out the window, amazed at the clouds. << ....asdfdsagadgasdg clouds=mountains >> * [10053] Software caused connection abort << AAdfsdghasdghs mischan >> << NIRI IS DISCONNECTING >> * Mikel frowns. "Domes... shelter, I guess?" * Saki leans towards a window, genuinely interested now. "I wonder." [Chrissy] Well if you lived in a hazardous envirohnment, I could see the virtues in making an entirely enclosed city. The domes Chrissy mentioned begin to become visible as you descend from the mountains. They reflect the sunlight with a consistancy of glass... there are 8 of them, connected by a series of grey-ish tubes. * Niri eyes the domes curiously Hmmm. Weird place... * Saki raises one eyebrow carefully. "... eights." There's a collection of smaller domes arrayed in a grid, all verdant and green. Loose like a type of greenhouse or farm. I wonder if they've seen us? << er looks >> * Mikel hrms. "Always with the eight." Well...we're not shot out of the sky, and that's a plus. Yet. Keep an eye out. [Chrissy] Fascinating. Those much be hydroponic farms. I... uh oh... *beep beep noise* ...Oh goddess /no/. Uh-oh? We're going to get shot at aren't we. Suddenly there is a bolt of light that goes darting right past the Destiny. ...Shit they didn't have to take me seriously! Ak! Holy shit! [Chrissy] An air defense system... we've got to pull back to the plateaus! * Saki sighs, throwing off her blanket and strapping on her gloves with a murderous look. ...Crap! Hang on everyone! Okay, looks like they're NOT friendly. Maybe flying into the middle of their turf wasn't the best idea. There's a few more bolts of light that start streaking past the windows and the rotors of the VL-1. Fortunately at this range they are highly inaccurate, whatever they are. Best you can tell, they are almost like concentrated sunbeams. One strikes the aft end of the VL-1 as it retreats and it leaves a sizzling dent. * Mikel frowns. "...Waitaminute. Is that Light willforce?" The evasive manuevers leave the Destiny rolling about in midair, as the cables hold it fast in the wake of the barrage. Soon the firing stops as you make it to a large-crater shaped valley just outside of the plains. Is it? They use willforce? It looked like it. [Chrissy] whew, nothing major damage wise. But we can't fly any farther gang. Everyone still in one piece? I'd have to get a look without being tossed this way and that to tell. [Chrissy] It looks like some kind of photon laser. I...think I'm okay. [Chrissy] Maybe Light willforce. You do realize that if they consider us a threat, the may come looking for us. Maybe we should just drop and go explain things. And hopefully not get shot. Definitely not wanting to get shot. * Saki manages somehow to keep most of her balance as the Destiny pitches and rolls. "Then we shall convince them pleasantly." [Chrissy] If they had air scouts, they'd have already launched by now I reckon... so we're alright holding position here. ..man we're the worst group ever for making contact with another civilization. * Tanan (~Nehn@dynamic-acs-24-239-125-230.zoominternet.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Tanan [Chrissy] I picked up some strange frequencies on the radio but I couldn't modulate to establish communications. I think knocking on their door is the only way in... Yeah, we're gonna have to land and figure out what to do. * Saki smirks unpleasantly. "Just say how hard to knock." ...don't knock down the door? * Niri chuckles. * Vytor unbuckles and hops out of teh Destiny, looking around to get a feel for the terrain. The Destiny hits the ground right as Vytor opens the door. * Mikel unbuckles his own restraints, springing over the seats to start prepping the Stormrider. Chrissy also lands the transport craft nearby, as the circular plain here has plenty of space. There are ruins of what appears to be an old city here as well, the construction different in some ways from what you've seen before, but definitely ancient and worn away by ice and time., unlike the domes to the west. * Saki frowns around as she exits the Destiny, then immediately leaps up onto the cargo bay and grabs her pack, digging through it. * Mikel gets the Stormrider out of the cargo bay, revving the engine a bit as if testing it before smirking. "Back in business." Look out world, Mikel has his baby back. * Vytor walks up a nearby ridge, and looks out beyond the cratered landing site. * Niri laughs and shakes her head. Okay, I get to ride now if you go anywhere, right? Us not being in Zophar's backyard anymore, and all. Sure. Hop on. Chrissy deplanes and starts assessing the damage to the rear stabilizers from the laser. * Ryllan pops out of the Destiny after a moment, "You alright, Doctor?" * Saki takes up a position behind the rails of the huge cannon; it is rather more threatening compared to her usual perch, somehow. The landscape looks a bit rough, but I think we can still make it. [Chrissy] Oh I'm great! I wonder what those guys are using to do this exactly. We can ask them when we go say hi. * Vytor keeps watch in case visitors come by before the group is ready to leave. * Niri grins and jumps aboard Stormrider. * Trune glances at Niri and Mikel and then quickly pries his eyes away. There is no hostile visitors as of yet, and the place seems oddly quiet. But it's probably just a matter of time before a search party investigates the sighting.. * Saki taps twice on the Destiny. "If we're going, let's go. ... peacefully." Agreed. We're already seen as a threat. Whirl that thing around to point back, then. Don't want them takin' it to be pointing at them. * Ryllan hops back in the destiny, "Everyone, let's get ready." As the group starts making preparations to drive into the strange civilization, in the heavens there comes a mighty thunder. Far away to the east there's a streak of light and swirling color that assaults one of the domed cities. ...The hell is that?! * Vytor heads for the Destiny, but stops at the sudden noise and pyrotechnics. * Saki tries thumping the cannon to swivel it once, then manages to twist it around properly via hard work. The moment thunder sounds out, she's shifted away from the big lump of metal, and is staring at the horizon. "... go! Go go go!" That's can't be good. W...what the hell IS that? ...What the heck is that? * Vytor grabs onto the Destiny, "We'd best find out." * Mikel mutters. "Hang on, Niri." He then proceeds to floor it towards the light. There's more bursts of light and it appears a battle is underway against comething from the sky. << something >> * Niri nods. "I think you're right." She follows Mikek's advice and hangs on for dear life. * Saki growls and suits up ready to go. "Whatever it is, we'll want to be on one side or another. Go!" * Ryllan sets the Destiny into motion, roaring off at high speeds, chasing the more agile Stormrider. << Mikek=Mikel ;_; >> Off the heroes ride, into the middle of a foreign kingdom in conflict... somewhere out there Leah is waiting. == SESSION END == >> 25 xp!
