<Vytor> Its been some time since Niri's last visitor, and she has been preparing herself for the next leg of her journey. It is during this time that she is interrupted once again.
* Vytor looks into the room where Niri is gathering her things, and raps lightly on one of the crystal walls.
<Vytor> Niri? You got a moment?
* Niri looks up from packing her pajamas into her bag and nods to Vytor. "Sure. What's up, Vytor?"
<Vytor> I know you've been asked this a dozen times already, but I'm going to ask anyway. How are you feeling?
* Niri smiles a little ruefully. "Better. Been up and down a lot, but...well. I think I have a bit of perspective on this whole thing now."
<Vytor> Care to share those thoughts?
* Niri stops packing and flops to sit on her bed, looking thoughtful.
<Niri> Umm. I guess...I'm slowly accepting that this wasn't my fault. And even if people continue to get hurt, I just have to keep going because stopping won't help anyone.
* Vytor purses his lips a bit, and settles onto the floor.
<Vytor> Good to know, but you didn't actually answer my question. I asked what you were feeling, not what you were thinking.
<Niri> ....Oh.
* Niri fidgets a bit. "Um. Hurt. Angry. Heartbroken. Maybe...a bit resigned, sometimes hopeless?"
<Vytor> Say a little more about that.
<Niri> Which part? All of it?
<Vytor> Since the first part that came out was hurt, more on that please.
* Niri shrugs. "It hurt to watch what happened to my mom. And I know Leah isn't herself, but still...it hurt that SHE was the one who did it. I don't understand what she's after or why she was trying to hurt me!"
<Niri> And it seems like a couple of the others just...don't care how I feel, they really mostly just care whether I'm capable of continuing on.
<Vytor> Do you think you are?
<Niri> Capable of going on? Absolutely.
* Vytor nods.
<Vytor> Try to remember, that even if the person you saw who attacked you looked like Leah, it wasn't her. The Leah you knew wouldn't do that. I knew her only for a short time, and I'm quite certain of that.
* Niri smiles a little. "Yeah. There's got to be something up with her. And I'm sure she's still in there somewhere. She...doesn't want me to get hurt, I think."
<Vytor> I believe the Leah that you know would certainly want that. But as for this new Leah, that I'm not so sure of. The Magic Emperor I read about in your book was not above manipulating others to suit his ends.
<Niri> That's...true... *frowns* Well. Next time we meet up with Leah, I'm going to get some answers.
<Vytor> I doubt he would be above trying to use your friendship with Leah to convince you to stop fighting.
<Niri> Right. But it's not gonna work.
<Vytor> Also remember, the fact that Zophar is keeping tabs on you, and even trying to stop you, means that he does consider you to be a threat. Despite what he may boast about.
<Vytor> And that means we can still stop him.
* Niri smiles. "Yeah...that's for sure."
<Vytor> We just have to keep trying, despite the setbacks we hit along the way. My mom once told me, 'Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice that says: I will try again.'
<Vytor> If you can do that, then you are every bit the heroine we know you are.
<Niri> Well, I'm sure gonna TRY, anyway. And I'm not going to let anyone else get hurt if I can help it, either.
<Vytor> Now there's a good attitude to have. Plus I got a smile out of you, so I know you're feeling a little better now.
<Niri> A bit, yeah. Talking with Tanan helped some, and then later with Saki.
<Vytor> So is everything on even keel with Tanan? I felt that there've been times where you two have been at odds on things.
* Niri shrugs. "Maybe...but I think we've mostly reached an understanding. At the moment, at least."
<Vytor> Is that all right for now?
* Niri nods, obviously not wanting to go into further detail...Tanan isn't saying anything, but he can undoubtedly hear the conversation.
<Vytor> Then we'll let that go for now.
<Niri> Yeah. Things are...okay, so don't worry about that.
<Vytor> I won't keep you much longer, I know you're still preparing to leave. But is there anything else you want to talk about?
* Niri shrugs. "I don't think so. I'm feeling much better. Well...there's still a lot that has me worried, but I think I can deal with it. I know where we're headed and what our immediate goals are, so that's my first step."
<Niri> I'll do things one step at a time and try not to worry too much about what I can't change.
<Vytor> I think I can get behind that.
* Vytor stands and dusts himself off. "One more thing before I go."
* Vytor walks over to Niri and helps her to her feet. Then he gives her a hug. "Remember that we're all behind you, 100%. Even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes."
* Niri grins and hugs Vytor back. "Thanks, Vytor. You're a good friend, and I honestly hope we have the chance to get to know each other a little better at some point."
<Vytor> That's why we're still at this, to have all those tomorrows to look back at all the crazy stuff that youngsters do.
* Vytor releases Niri, "I'll be down at the Destiny with the others. Seeya there when you're ready."
* Niri nods. "Okay, I'll be down shortly.
* Vytor turns and waves as he leaves, now sporting a smile on his face.
