Session Start: Mon Jun 25 20:55:48 2007 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Now talking in #lunar-iog2 * Topic is '-= Chapter 43 - Ruined, pt 4 | Location: Hylan Academy | Pools: 720 §, 12 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ =-' * Set by TheStoryteller on Sun Jun 24 05:17:36 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Saki * Etir is now known as Tanan >> It's getting notably late - nearing obscenely early, really - when Tanan has yet another visitor. There's little mistaking who it is; rather than a series of raps, there's one single heavy 'thump' upon the door. * Tanan looks up with a start, dropping his book. He blinks a few times, rubbing his eyes. "It's open." * Gayo|Gone is now known as Gayo * Saki pauses for a moment, then opens the door to step inside. She's seen better days; her tunic's got its fair share of scratches and tears, and a hefty bandange dominates one cheek. Her expression states clearly she'd quite like the door to creak ominously shut; unfortunately, it's good make, and doesn't. * ZackSleep is now known as Zack Saki. What can I do for you? * Saki navigates a pile of books carefully; though she looks dead tired, she's at least still careful on her feet. Another precarious bout of literary avoidance and she's taken a seat without asking. "... I want to know what you think happened. And what you think will happen." * Saki clatters something onto the table between them; a shard of gem-encrusted blackness. "--and what the hell metal that is." Easily «ooc: oops » <> * Tanan sighs. "Where to start. With the obvious, I guess. Emiria's working for Zophar now. Maybe she always has been, on some level." * Saki lowers her head for a brief moment, attention entirely focused on the professor. "That level being like me." I'm... not sure. It looks like Pandora was telling the truth. Maybe the prophets really were holding him back. As soon as she was gone, both Emiria and Leah started to go. Leah.. I think Leah is like you. You could even hear her talking in two voices at the end, to Nirika. * Saki covers one eye with a hand, making an irritated noise. "--ngh. /Really/ no such thing as coincidence. ... I heard that." * Tanan picks up the piece of metal, looking at it closely. "Emiria might not be, though. She didn't seem conflicted or torn at all. And she didn't seem so much like another person as just a more intense version of herself." You saw how Mars reacted to her, back when. We've been working on the demon-possesion theory, but I wonder. * Saki settles back in the chair, apparently appreciating being back in civilization at least a little. "... she sounded-- different. I'm not prepared to rule out that damn sword doing something." * Tanan holds up the piece towards the light. "It's possible. That sword almost certainly belonged to Leah- Ghaleon- whatever, before. There was something of him left in it." * Saki touches the bandage on her cheek, wincing at the thought of it. "... it fucking hurt," she adds helpfully. "So. ... nothing's changed. We've a ridiculously strong enemy out there and no idea where to begin." * Tanan points at a piece of paper. "Damon, Hiro, and Lucia to ask about 'ghaleon'. Dr. Webbly to find out if the elementalors are all right, and to ask about an 'iron witch' or 'marduk'. The Headmistress to find out if she's heard from master Hylan and to get the anti-zophar weapon they've been working on. We're not without leads." * Saki scratches at her hair, with a heavy sigh. "... Rachel's still here, too. She might know more about the fine details of this damn prophecy. ... It's a little late, but I'll settle for anything I can get my hands on." * Tanan sets the piece of weapon back down on the table. "Maybe. I think we wrecked the prophets' plans for dealing with this though. I'm sorry you couldn't get things sorted out down there." * Saki closes her eyes for a long moment, then shakes her head. "... it's alright. If nothing else, I at least know why. It's better than nothing. ... I want to try to repair them. If she's still alive there's still a chance for me to get this done." This is a creation of theirs? * Saki tilts her head towards it. "Her weapon," she confirms, snagging the piece to toy with it in one hand. "The idea was I would siphon off a little of her energy, and use it to split us." «ooc: replace second her with Pandora » Hmm. The weapon master Hylan was growing- making, whatever- was black crystal. I wonder if there's some sort of relation. Their powers seemed pretty similar, after all. That's more of an anti-willforce thing though, isn't it? It's hard to tell from just a piece. * Saki nods her head, looking at the thing in her hands. "Mm. If nothing else they'd be useful. ... Ideally, they were just a loan." I'm not even sure who you should ask about that. Vytor's the obvious answer, but he's more a mechanic and silversmith. * Saki sighs out. "... any port in a storm. Besides, I had other things to ask you, so it was simpler. ... you still haven't answered the question of what you think will happen next." Emiria and Leah and whoever else he can recruit will work to prepare things for Zophar's arrival. He has to have a place, or something, where he'll show up, where he's gathering power. He was there in spirit at the ruins, but obviously not really there. Someone has to stop them. Us, I'd guess. I'm not sure who else we could even send after him at this point. * Saki ponders that for a long moment. "... 'whoever else he can recruit'. ... you think there's others out there like Emiria?" Hmm. Maybe. There are probably people out there who would help him on the promise of power or the like as well. We have to stop them. Failing that, we have to kill him. He's been beaten before, which means that however overwhelming it seems, it can be done again. * Tanan thumps the table with a fist. "At least with the prophets they had a plan, they thought they'd make a good world. But him? Just destroy everything? I swear I'll find a way to tear him into little pieces." * Saki smirks unpleasantly at Tanan's show of temper, snapping the piece of metal into the air and catching it again. "Aa. We've already smashed apart a couple of dead gods." Ha! Yes. And tomorrow we'll take the first steps to doing it again. We'll find out what we can, we'll see if that weapon is ready to bond to one of us, and then whatever has to be done, we do. * Saki sinks back into seriousness at that. "... I'd been meaning to ask. You keep talking about 'bonding' and 'taking it up'. A sword's a sword, even that one you have. What the hell do you have down there?" * Tanan glances over at misogi, propped against the wall. "I'm probably not the best one to explain. I don't know all the details of how it was made, they started on it before I knew about the prophecy or Zophar or any of this stuff. Whatever it is, it's..." * Tanan trails off, as though looking for a word. "...alive? aware? Moreso than misogi there is. Some weapons won't allow certain people to use them. This one will actively try to help." If it's wielder has a strong will, it'll be strong. If not, it won't. Something like that, anyway. * Saki has drawn back in her chair, watching Tanan with something between curiosity and mild horror. When he's finished, she leans forward, apparently somehow angry even if her tone isn't. "... your own pet Elementalor. Or something like." * Tanan scratches his head. "Something along those lines, I guess." * Saki huffs out a breath, falling back to apparently curl up in a sulk. "... I don't like it. Especially after the moral indignation towards their creators." * Tanan frowns. "Mm. Well. I guess it all depends on how its treated, and how it feels." * Saki pauses and makes a face. "... nh. Sorry. I'm not much right to dictate your research." I'm all in favor of treating it well, but I'm more in favor of saving the world. If it comes down to it, you can always apologize to it later. So to speak. * Saki hisses between her teeth, scratching at her hair again. "... leave me out of it. I'm no world-saving heroine." * Tanan looks genuinely surprised. "You're not going to... you're just going to let..?" * Saki looks positively stunned for a moment before shaking her head, chucking to herself. "... not like that. Of course I'm going. But I'm not some champion of the people to take up the destined armament or whatever the hell you want to call it. I've my own reasons, too." * Tanan exhales, seeming relieved. "Oh! Oh. No, that's fine. I hope someone's willing though, or this whole project is going to look awfully stupid." * Saki apparently sees the humour in it, still chuckling to herself. "... I'm trying to picture myself suddenly becoming a pacifist." I really wouldn't recommend that yet. * Gayo is now known as Gayo|Gone * Saki runs a hand back through her hair, sighing out at length. "... mn. I suppose it's just as many leads as we had when we were chasing the Prophetess." * Tanan nods. "It's just a little overwhelming, being hit by it all at once when we thought we might be in the clear." * Saki hauls herself to her feet in a sudden movement, almost displacing a stack of books. "... mm," she agrees wordlessly. "... I'm going to try to get some sleep." Good night, Saki. Get some rest while you can, we'll be all over the place again before we know it. * Saki nods her head. "Mm. You too. Tomorrow might be a long day." Frowning to herself again and not looking back, she lets herself out. * Tanan retrieves his book from the floor, opening it back up and setting it on the table. "Maybe just a few more..." >> And End!
