Some time later, the group was summoned once more back to Johnathan's intradimensional study for another planning session. * Saki has been absent from the rest of the party for most of the day, but when she meets back up with the group it's clear she's at least been up to something. Pale as a sheet, her nervous tic regarding the Academy's come back with something of a vengeance and she's very restless, awkwardly pacing around at the best of times. * Niri is unusually quiet, with a slight frown on her face as she stands watching the others. * Vytor has spent a good portion of the day in his sister's company, and seems in good humor. * Trune stands not too far away from the group, arms crossed. He seems to eye Niri from time to time, but keeps to himself. He looks to be in deep thought. * Mikel has been off mulling over all of the various things that have been revealed, and upon return still seems to be having gears turn in his head. * Tanan taps his foot. "Any minute now. I can't understand how he can keep us waiting." He probably heard that. He has to get that air of mystery 'just so'. As they materialized in what looks an empty space with just a floor upon it, there's what sounds like a scream in the ether. ...that doesn't sound right. * Johnathan (~Nehn@dynamic-acs-24-239-125-230.zoominternet.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Mikel glances up, frowning. "The heck?" * Saki looks grim. "... it's not pleasant, being torn in two." Huh? * Angie wiggles her fingers, instinctively reaching for her weapon. She doesn't go so far as to pull her steel, but from the persistent twitch of her lip, she wants to. * Tanan blinks, looking around. "Look, when I said that, I didn't mean to.. what the." ...What's going on? * Vytor takes on an air of wariness, but continues to wait. It could be nothing. * Saki takes up a position near a wall, deadly serious. "... Rachel said that Noah being in Ryllan's head would be tearing both of them up. Removing them wouldn't be pleasant either. ... that'd be my guess." You realize now that you said that you totally cursed us, Angie? ... * Mikel just lets out a sigh. There's a fading scene change and the vista becomes the familair office. Only something is amiss. Johnathan is standing with Lucia, who is focusing, over a Ryllan wracked by pain. He spasms once and passes out. There's what looks like a purple essence coming from a large dragon diamond ring levitating above him. * Angie sucks her lips taut and scans the void warily. * Trune sets mode: +o Johnathan ...Oh. * Niri heaves a worried, uneasy sigh * Niri stares as the scene changes. "...Ryllan?" They both have a suprprised but serious face on as the group appears. Ry...what the fuck?! * Vytor starts to move upon seeing Ryllan, but forces himself to stop until he gets an explanation. * Mikel winces, though his attention is more on the diamond than Ryllan. "Saki was right, I guess." * Niri hurries forward. "Mom, what's going on? Is he okay?" * Angie is pulled forward by instinct, but reason prevails, and she slinks back into line, chewing nervously on her upper lip. * Saki winces just a little on either Ryllan or Noah's behalf. She rubs her face down once, then makes herself watch the process. [Lucia] John... I think we might have pushed him too hard. But the soul is contained... er... Niri? * Johnathan winces. "That wasn't supposed to happen." What happened? What went wrong? /What/ wasn't supposed to happen? * Mikel steps forward as John says the worst phrase in existance. Ryllan is pale and looks like he's been through a lot, but he's breathing and stable. What...what did you do? Got Noah out. Ryllan? That looked like it couldn't have been pleasant. Is he all right? * Johnathan stares at the group. "How in the world did you people even get in here?" ...Magic? * Johnathan looks back down at Ryllan We, uh, waited. So what happened? * Saki steps forward two steps to gaze a little closer at the ring, turning gently in midair. "... Hey," she says to it. The mass of soul energy pulses as Saki steps forward. It appears weak. * Johnathan glances at Lucia, then back to everyone else. "Having your soul altered can be very painful. I think it may have been a little much for Ryllan. He'll be all right, I think." Uh...Saki, no offense, but can you get away from that? I mean, there's probably a million to one chance of this happening, but we don't need your head to become even more crowded. * Johnathan frowns and makes a little gesture, a comfortable looking matress materializing under Ryllan. "Not fun. We've got them seperated, though." * Angie looks from Ryllan to the ring and back. "Was he very powerful? Noah, I mean?" * Niri says nothing, but continues to look rather concerned. * Tanan peers at the ring. Lucia nods carefully. "He'll be alright with a little rest. We drew it out in order to interrogate Noah as much as we were able. Unlike Saki, this is a very unnatural union and unstable." * Mikel mutters something under his breath that likely would get him written up if he was still a student as the question goes unanswered. * Vytor watches and waits, leaving stuff like this to the experts * Saki glances across at Trune, and for the first time in a while she's grinning, though it's not pleasant. "... I'm alright. Rachel and I had a long talk earlier. She's helping, for now." Not exactly. It was hard because that's not all of him. That's only a piece of Noah. The rest is still back with the prophetess. * Vytor winces at the thought of that concept ....That's an uncomfortable thought. Not to mention impossible, or so I'd've thought. * Trune blinks at Saki and huhs, "Well, shit. That's good." ...She only put a part of him in Ryllan? That couldn't have been pleasant. [Lucia] Well, to be more rpecise, Ryllan pulled a part of him from her. * Tanan leans towards the ring. "Yeah. It wasn't her choice." >> John's news sucks the wind from Angie's sails. "I see," she says, defeated. She looks up at Saki, searching her face. "What did Rachel say?" Oh yeah. The suicidal plan. [Lucia] If it wasn't for Johnathan's blessings, he would not have even survived such an ordeal intact. Wait, what suicidal plan? * Mikel points at Ryllan. "Whatever inspired him to pull that stunt." * Saki steps back from the ring a step, turning to Angie. "... the Prophets returning aren't her business. She's tired, and just wants to find her corpse. She'll help if I help." He's very brave. But not very bright. Professor. * Tanan coughs. "Sorry. Just saying." ....You know what, I've had it with this messing with people's souls and stuff. It's too confusing and it's just causing trouble. All I want is for it to stop at this point, you know? :/ It's really not fair to people like Rachel and Noah, either. I wonder if there's even a way to make everything right, at this point. Isn't her corpse on the moon? * Johnathan stares off into the distance. Or the wall, depending on how you look at it. "There might be." * Angie scratches her chin. * Johnathan looks at Angie, puzzled. "On the moon? Why?" [Lucia] The Prophets are interefering with the cycle of things... for that reason, Niri, we have to stop it. Lure is there, and what remains of souls with him. * Mikel looks at John. "Oh? What is it, Headmaster?" How would it have gotten th-... Oh, I see what you're saying. No. * Angie looks equally confused, and a little self-conscious. If you've got any ideas, Jon- I mean, Headm- oh, screw it. Jonathan, if you know anything, spill it, please... And Mom, if they're interfering with the cycle of things, what SHOULD that cycle look like? What should have happened? WHo's Lure? The natural cycle? Ha. It should have far less horrible amalgams of ancient dead people, I'll say that much for it. Apparetly some sort of uh, carrier and spreader of souls. I think. Well, yeah. But...what are we supposed to do about it? * Angie takes Vytor aside and explains in low tones, gesturing uselessly. "Lure is a guy, a...soul guy. He's a guy made of souls." And whatever we end up doing, what will it mean for people like Rachel and Noah? Get him out of there? * Vytor has the look of someone's who's pretending real hard that he understands * Trune puts a hand to his forehead and rubs it. It's obvious a killer migraine is coming on. ...I'm actually wondering what might happen if the Prophetess were to succeed in...well, whatever she's doing. [Lucia] You should not allow the Prophets to revive themselves. Using borrowed souls or the Truth seekers... or many normal ones, it will not be good for the planet's revival. Wouldn't that mean, uh. That's the big unknown. * Mikel points at Johnathan. "He gets the same treatment as the others? And the others too?" << other Truth Seekers. blah. >> So answer my question then. I asked it a while ago. << or was it bearers >> * Angie shakes a finger at Lucia. "You have a lot to tell us about this soul thing still! I can't just take all this on faith." What will happen to the truth seekers if this works? Will they 'die'? Well, something's gotta change, anyway. If the Prophets don't revive themselves, then they need to be able to rest, somehow. [Lucia] Well, in a sense, human souls are like the lfieblood of the planet. * Johnathan shakes his head. "Rest isn't their goal." Yeah, but if we deny them their revival... * Tanan sighs. "Would anyone like to tell us something that makes sense? Please?" * Saki shakes her head. "... Rachel's not got a clue what they're up to or how they're going to do it. She just wants to get to her body to rest." Somehow... I don't think there's a completely happy ending in this. But what will happen to them? Will they dissapear? Will they go back to their bodies? Will they combust? Smell like Spring Breeze soap? WHAT? But the planet isn't really alive, right? Mikel, if there isn't, then I quit. It's just not fair. I demand a happy ending. * Vytor rubs his temples [Lucia] OH it breathes and exists, but it is an empty world without living creatures. [Lucia] It is the power of human souls which enriched Lunar, and now that power, when matured, is being returned to the Blue Star. [Lucia] It was all part of Althena's grand plan ages ago... * Saki draws herself towards the ring again, curious and morbidly fascinated. Not listening to Lucia, she slides a glance across at John. "... did you decide what to do yet?" * Angie Folds her arms and scowls, sulking. She doesn't like this. "I guess that makes sense. But surely a couple souls this way or that way doesn't make a difference, since there's so many?" [Lucia] It's more important that if unchecked, the Prophets plan to alter history. In the grand scheme of things, maybe not, Angie. But there's the question of what they want to do with them. And which human souls are we concerned about right now - the Truth Seekers or the Prophets? * Trune starts to look fustrated, "(w)We know this! Are you a broken record or something?" What do the Prophets plan to alter though? I thought they just wanted to be revived. [Lucia] They wish to live again, but that is only so they can recover their powers fully and change the course of events in the Devestation War, it seems like. Oh yes. But not just as how they were. And not the world as how it is. Then what is it they want to happen? How so? If they came alive, would they be easier to fight? Change the world? Is anyone that powerful? [Lucia] Not one being is that powerful, but together the Truth seekers started this whole process of revival. So with their powers and the magic of Prophet's wills, it is a very real possibility. Well, we did end up here from Lunar. ...Change the events of...I wonder what they mean to do then? Zophar would never have come to power. The world would never have been destroyed. Althena would never have intervened, because there would have been no need. I almost wonder if that might not be a GOOD idea. ^^; * Mikel frowns. "So what happens to us if that happens?" Nothing good, I'd wager Lucia shakes her head. "None of us would be here now, for one." We probably wouldn't be here anymore. Yeaaaah, I like being here. I mean...all of us, in one way or another, are here because of the unravelling. * Saki smirks with dark humour. "/I/ might be here." * Johnathan looks up at the cieling. "It's not that simple, but yes. The world would be alive and vital, but we wouldn't. And the gods of that world... give you three guesses. First two don't count." * Angie shakes her head, holding up both hands in a desperate gambit to slow the conversation. "Stop, stop. Okay, I'm pretty smart, I think, but I'm totally lost here. The Prophets can change the past if they come back to life?" That's... kind of what it sounds like. How? The gods of that world get revived, right? Or something. Uh. Magic? * Mikel shrugs helplessly. No... * Mikel glances at Niri. "...It'd probably be them." * Angie spits out a bitter laugh and nods at Mikel. "Okay. But, like, why can't they do that /now/?" I think....wait, seriously Headmaster? They would be the Gods? Oh man that's seriously egotistical of them. Maybe they need to be revived to manage it. ...Wait Okay yeah, that would be bad, Trune. Not so much 'they' as 'we', but yes. I actually feel kinda sorry for the Prophets. ^^; But uh. Yeah, not okay there [Lucia] I don't think they originally wanted to do that, but the years of darkness have twisted their noble, humanist intents. * Niri blinks at Johnathan. Now I"m confused. So now they've gotten all confused? Don't be. They need our power to do it, so they'd.. swallow us, I guess? We'd be part of their new amalgamations, or identities, or whatever. Maybe we could just... find a way to revive them without giving them enough oomph to change history? You know, this still doesn't explain why the Prophetess wanted us as "witnesses" either. I like Mikel's idea. [Lucia] The best way to do that is rescue the Green Dragon Lure and prevent any more Truth seekers from being attacked... * Angie nods enthusiastically. "I was thinking of that! Is there any way we can put them back in the reincarnation cycle?" [Lucia] Right now a few are still all over the planet. We've been TRYING to keep Truthseekers from getting attacked! No luck so far. "All over?" [Lucia] Yes, you could Angie. That's what I'm hoping for. Yes. It's possible that Lure could be enough for them to fuel this. I'm going to have to ask you all to go and try to rescue him. I know it's not the best plan, but... * Johnathan shrugs How'd we put them back in the cycle? Honestly, I don't think they're evil. I'm not even sure their world would be a bad thing. But there's nothing wrong with this one, so it seems like a load of crap. * Mikel frowns as a thought occurs to him. "Besides killing them or something like that." * Saki shrugs, shaking her head. "... they were the enemy of Zophar. That was all and everything." Morally gray is what you're thinking, Headmaster? Aren't the Prophets already dead though? * Angie glares at the floow and chews on her lip. Sparks dance in her eyes. After a moment, she steps forward, looking up at Johnathan. "I'll do it, there's no question. But we need a plan. We've never been able to even put a scratch on them; as it is we have no hope of rescuing anybody. We need your help, the Academy's help. We need to find out how to fight them or we'll be throwing away this chance." Lucia holds up the ring. "First, you need to shater the Prophetess somehow, like Ryllan managed to do. secondly, you need to take on each entitity one at a time. I'm confidant you can win like that. They should be near their bodies in the tomb." Angie's right. ...so, we do have to kill them. Great * Niri frowns thoughtfully, listening to her mother. I'm not sure I like that idea, but it does sound like it might work... Lucia's idea is good, but it's the "somehow" part! We need to figure out how to break her up. * Johnathan nods. "Individually, they're not that strong. I mean, they're strong.. but nowhere near as powerful as she is now." [Lucia] If you can vanquish them, destroy the body housed there and it should severe all the enchantments. << sever >> What exactly did Ryllan /do/ before, though? * Saki tilts her head. There's a vague sense she's narrating for someone else. "... It won't be 'killing'. It'll be 'allowing to die and ressurrect.'" Lucia nods calmly to Saki. "Yes, exactly. With Lure's help, it would be a simple affair." He can do th-... he's a mass of souls, huh. I guess if anyone could do it.. * Mikel frowns, thinking. "And... even divided, are we sure we can take them?" We'd have a better chance that way, I suppose It's still not gonna be easy. Well yeah, I'm just afraid of a shard of her power still being too much. She's /scarily/ strong. But that means we'd have to take Lure TO them. Isn't that dangerous? I don't want to rely on this Lure guy. We've never met him and we don't know anything about him and for all we know we'll be too late for him to help. There has to be a way we can do it ourselves. ........Hey. We know that song magic works on the Prophetess, right? Yeah....and? Could we maybe use that as a way to immobilize and dismantle her? * Mikel ...mulls. "That'd take a hell of a song." I might be able to come up with some new spells that could help. And...I dunno, maybe Haylee could help? Didn't we try that once? Johnathan, do you think she would? Yeah, Trune, but it worked a little bit! We might be able to come up with a new plan that'll work better, based on what I learned from trying it the first time. [Lucia] Niri, Lure is there right now. I wouldn't worry about that. * Mikel snickers. "Maybe if we all started singing?" [Lucia] As far as song goes, I have a little something I'd like to teach you, though, my daughter... Mom, I'm not absolutely prepared to count on Lure, especially since we've already been warned that it's dangerous if the Prophetess gets a hold of him. ^^; * Angie turns to face Lucia, giving her the same serious look she fixed on the Headmaster. "You were talking about song magic. I wanted to discuss that with you. It..." She stops, taking a deep breath. "It sort of, sort of fits with my own way of thinking, and I've read some stuff about it, and I was wondering if we could exploit it." Yeah, Mikel, that's exactly the kind of thing I mena. Oh? What's that, Mom? [Lucia] It's my belief that you can shatter the Prophetess if you found just the right harmony. * Angie scratches at the back of her neck, eyes wandering. She can be intense, but not for very long, it seems. "We can, uh, we can do that now or later?" The trick's finding that harmony, isn't it? Yeah, how to find it would be the next question. Yeah! That's kinda what I was suspecting... Can we figure it out from Noah? ..testing it on him? * Mikel winces. * Angie doesn't catch Mikel's tone. She nods enthusiastically. "Yeah! Like, because it's the same sort of magic." * Mikel glances at the diamond. "Somehow I don't thnk he'd appreciate a part of him being used to test something that'll break him." * Saki frowns. "... you wouldn't get anything useful, surely; trying to split multiple souls when there's only one around." [Lucia] That's true. But on the other hand -- Saki, you might be able to help her. Yeah, not so sure that's a good idea. But...I might be able to learn something from studying the ring. * Vytor paces as he thinks * Niri listens curiously * Saki winces openly. "... I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I hurt like hell all afternoon from John's trick." Trick? Sorry about that. I know how it feels, trust me. Trick? "I can help too!" Angie holds up her notebook, slung under one arm until now. She skims the pages with her thumb until she reaches an extremely complex geometric diograph peppered with spheres of different sizes. "I can help too! This is what I've been talking about, what I wanted to discuss with you." * Saki sighs out, waving absently at Mikel. "Tearing me apart a little so I could talk to Rachel," she adds, utterly offhandedly. "... still, we've both said we'll help, so anything we can do, go for it." Ah... well, uh. In theory, I could do the same thing to the prophetess. If she agreed to sit down and help me do it, anyway. Not too likely I suppose. Wouldn't this be more permanent? Lucia looks at the book Angie is referencing. "Oh?" I'm all in favor of your having a backup plan, but don't scorn Lure's help if he's willing. You might have never met him, but I have. He's a little weird, but he's a good guy. Guys. Whatever. [Lucia] I do feel for him a little bit. He went from a baby to an old man in less than two decades. * On closer analysis, Angie's diagram seems to be a map of the planets. Once Angie sees that Lucia understands, she flips past the picture, showing page after page of similar diagrams and math. "I was thinking a lot about what you said yesterday," she says. The excitement is building in her voice now, swelling dangerously in her chest. [Lucia] Angie... you are trying to make an equation for "The Harmony of the Spheres"? A baby to an old man, but in a way he's becoming that life-of-the-planet you talked about. If he's content, I won't interfere. Harmony of the..? * Niri peers curiously at Angie's notebook! * "You said that the universe works based on musical principles, right? Well, the thing is, everything's basically a machine. What I mean to say is that the same techniques you can use to analyze machines work on other things." She claps her hands, bouncing on her feet. "Exactly! There's music, there's music encoded in the way things are! In everything!" ..? I've been making all these observations, trying to pull apart all the different factors. ...You thought of all that, Angie? O_o I mean just... * Trune whistles. * Saki shakes her head, just a little indulgently, as that wing of the party starts up planning. Instead, she turns back to the ring, and starts to reach out a hand for it before raising her eyebrows at John. "... may I?" Whoa, serioiusly, Angie? * Niri looks excited! * Vytor stands back as music is not his forte Are you sure you and... you I guess, will be ok with it? * Mikel looks kind of lost as chatter starts flying. Lucia looks at Angie with newfound admiration at her skill. * Saki chews on her lip for a moment, watching the ring in silence. "... yes. I've already guarded him until death once. It's kind of fitting, don't you think." * Angie passes the notebook to Niri. It's totally baffling to her, but it looks pretty. "Exactly! You've heard of the Hermetic Principle, right? 'As above, so below?' The stars, the, uh, the heavens. They move according to a lot of basic physical principles, but it's more than just that. It's not just random order! Every single thing is a piece of a big machine -- the movement is the song." [Lucia] As Althena's disciple, I am well versed in this reality. But the facts escape even me. I'm not a divine being, just a humble servant of one. * Niri stares at Angie's notes, looking very excited. "Wait..." * Niri points at some of the drawings * You shouldn't encourage her. Angie is babbling a bit now, hopping from one foot to the other. You see how you have these figures aligned here? It totally looks like a triad of whole notes. You see?? [Lucia] Ancient Earth philosophers believed each planet was like a note on a musical scale, actually. And together they formed a celestial song, which affected everything in a subtle way... And the lines here...if you looked at it as if it were a music staff, you get...a V7 chord. In the key of C major. * Niri starts babbling just as much as Angie. It's unlikely either of them really understands what the other is saying. * ZackClass (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) has joined #lunar-iog2 V.. seven? C.. what. ...Hey, isn't that...yeah, that's C major right there. But it almost looks like it's in several octaves, like a chorus...or am I reading it wrong becuase I'm seeing it upside down? Yeah! Except if you put it in a different key, it changes the dynamic completely. * Mikel (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) Quit (Killed (NickServ (GHOST command used by ZackClass))) * Tanan looks back and forth between Lucia, Niri, and Angie, then sighs helplessly. * ZackClass is now known as Mikel And if you add accidentals you can come up with even more complex harmonies. * Tanan sets mode: +o Mikel * Angie spins the book around to look at it. She squints at the page for a long time -- much longer than Niri, for that matter. But eventually she gets it, and her mouth falls open. "Yes!" She beams. "That's exactly it. I don't quite get it all, but I think..." She licks her lips and looks from Niri to Lucia to Johnathan. "So uh, this is. This is what I was working on." Accidents? I don't know if we want to add accidents to the grand scheme of things...? Not accidents. Accidentals. Which are? Heck if I know. * Mikel (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) Quit (Killed (NickServ (Nick kill enforced))) Lucia looks pleased with Niri's knowledge. :) * Tanan stares for a second. * Niri bounces on her toes/ * Zack (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Zack [Lucia] You've got it Niri. And did you ever think of this fact... * Vytor looks a little more upbeat, as it seems a plan is forming [Lucia] All the Elementalors you've encoutnered are dubbed after planets? !! * Zack is now known as Mikel But that means....! Wait...you're saying that...? * Niri starts tracing a finger along the diagrams in the notebook * Mikel looks completely lost at this point, taking a step back as well. BUT THIS CAN ONLY INDICATE THAT...! «ooc: nuke that. » ...Then each of them must have a melodic and harmonic signature, and if we can analyze Angie's notes... << jinkies >> ...And maybe if we can talk to the Elementalors about it too...we can figure out exactly what it is, and build a greater harmony off of that! * Johnathan sits down and watches. * Saki shrugs expansively at Vytor and Tanan's direction as the planning reaches a crescendo, and instead lifts her palm to let the ring rest on it. ...Oh wow. You could just keep adding levels to the harmony. Sakis palm tingles as the ring falls into it. It gives her a deep sense of happiness holding it. [Lucia] I love that look of realization. That's what it means to be a Truth seeker. You've got all the tools to do it, you just didn't realize till now... [Leah] Hey wait! I just remembered something else. The elementalors, huh? I wonder... They might be able to help with the splitting as well. A little jolt of power in the right place. In fact...we could even have the Elementalors sing! Hey hey hey....CAN they sing? The magical power would increase exponentially, I bet. It's like...well, I bet they can! We're still missing one, aren't we? * Angie nods enthusiastically, mouthing agreement. "That was what got me thinking about it, actually! I did Geomancy in the academy, remember, so I was thinking, "well, let's try mapping the elemental flows to the planets that have those names." That was how I realized that the same principles ordered terrestrial energies." I mean, I play guitar but I can't sing. We don't know if they can sing! We could create a sort of cosmic barbershop quartet! I mean octet. Or nine-tet. Whatever the word is. I have no idea why I compared myself to the elementlors but don't assume they can sing! I'm sure they could though! Their entire beings are mapped from an inherently musical structure, Trune. Should I take out the ECC and demand a impromptu concert? Yes!! ....I wasn't serious! * Niri is totally serious and does not notice Trune's sarcasm. Oy... * Niri looks crestfallen. "You weren't?" ... ... ... I can't believe I'm gonna do this. Fine. ...wait does that include Mars? Besides, you know the academy is really warded. I'm not even sure it'llk work here. [Leah] Didn't Vytor's sister mention that the Prophets were each a master of elemental magic? What? *turns eagerly to Leah* That should be interesting * Saki tucks the ring very safely away in her tunic; then she's all attention on the rest of the group. "--and if you're thinking about calling them down here, I should get out of the way." She did. They are? Then...if we can match up the right Elementalor with the right Prophet... Wait, so they might be.. counterparts? We can immobilize them that way! * "So I was thinking, I was thinking! If I could build some kind of machine to organize these energies based on the principles here..." Angie whips out a tiny stub of a pencil from behind her ear, maaking some notes on the page. The pencil is so short it looks like she's writing with her fingers. "What we could do is try to sort of piggyback off these natural rhythms, to use them to enhance the normal song magic Niri has." Shiro woofs, hooping up and down behind Niri. * Trune pulls out the ECC and begins to fiddle with the knobs and buttons, "Hey, Dr. Webbly, can you hear me?" Oooh, Angie. You think it'd work? * Niri giggleclaps at Shiro * Saki attempts to edge towards the door before remembering all too late that the door doesn't exactly exist; with a scowl, she instead stalks back to her corner with a hand on the ring in her pocket. >> The ECC beeps and crackles. An urbane female voice says "Please do not press that button again." * Mikel ...stares at the ECC. ..? What did you just do. I...have no idea. ...What? >> Webbly's voice crackles out through a field of static. "Are you guys fiddling with things? You almost activated the shorting out function." There's a shorting out function? Why is there a shorting out function. That. Why. ...Why would there be a shorting out function? Isn't that counter-productive? * Angie flips to a blank page and leans over John's desk, scribbling intently. * Johnathan stares at the device for a moment, then starts tilting his hand slightly, trying to get better reception. [Webbly "In case the chance of capture got too high. Later models were plan*sizzle*o be fitted with Semt*crackle*" * Johnathan tilts his hand the other way [Webbly] "That reminds me. What is more cuddly? A fish or a bear?" * Niri blinks and exchanges a glance with Trune. Bears are more cuddly. It makes sense. Depends on the context [Lucia] Is this the caretaker of the Elementalors? ...Uh...generally fuzzy equals cuddly. So a bear. Unless you mess with its cub. Then it's more toothy and RAWR. ....Uh... [Webbly] "Oh. That might explain why Venus was so puzzled at the stuffed fish I gave her to sleep with." * Zack (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Zack * Saki glances over at Lucia. "... he's an experience." You could say that, yes. *cough* ANYWAY, Dr. Webbly, we have to ask you about harmonies and songs and various other things related to it. ...In all fairness, I think Venus would be puzzled with anything. She struck me as kind of prickly. * Mikel (Zack@dorms-90-90.loyno.edu) Quit (Killed (NickServ (GHOST command used by Zack))) Oh yeah! Music! * Zack is now known as Mikel She was kind of nice. Sane, anyway. * Johnathan looks nonplussed, uncertain as to what to say. [Leah] 82% sane anyway.. :P You can calculate it that closely? leah, meter venus sane << ... >> << ... >> «ooc: Ha ha ha ha! » [Webbly] "Songs? Oh my. I wonder if I can still remember how to play the guitar. I hope I played the guitar. Guitars are awesome." So this is the Doctor Webbly you've all mentioned. You... don't remember, do you? Anyway, Dr. Webbly...we were wondering because we think the Elementalors might have some powers related to song magic! Quite so * Trune cracks a smile, "If you forgot, Doctor, I could probably teach you." I was thinking that if so, they might be able to work with me to create the necessary harmonies to immobilize and dismantle the Prophetess. [Webbly] "Anyway. Song magic? How's that work? We never found a frequency like that when examine pychoactive psuedoforms. Perhaps Mercury can control sound?" Do you think that'd work? Do you think the Elementalors would help? Well, there's an overarcing harmony to the heavens, and a particular one for each planet. Since the Elementalors are tied to the planets and the elements, they should have the same harmonic and melodic alignment! In theory. [Webbly] "One moment. *blipbleepbloop* Ahh. I so miss thesaurus.com. Let's see. Is this like a waveform?" * Saki puffs out a breath. She's already looking much improved over her earlier state; this is only emphasised by her flopping down to the ground and apparently relaxing for the first time in a while. Waveform? Um...kinda. I think if I remember right, music expresses itself in waves like all sounds do...is that what you mean? [Webbly] Yes. I hope. So, you want to send a counter-frequency to bring the total effect to zero, like white noise? * Mikel rubs his forehead. "Going over my head." Um...maybe? [Webbly] Or do you need, like, a resonant wave to echo and boost something you guys are doing? * Vytor notes a chair that wasn't there when he entered the room, and takes a seat, having really nothing to add here. Wait, okay, I THINK I get what you're saying. You're saying we can either have to harmonies clash together to neutralize their power, or have a wave of energy boost ours, right? [Webbly] Right. We might want to try a few jamming sessions to make sure it works though. [Lucia] I'm sure you can practice using some of your own willforce as a test. That might be a good idea. Do you think the Elementalors will help? Don't see why not... well, except maybe Mars. Has she calmed down, Doc? [Webbly] Mmmm. More or less. She's always a angry. Sometimes I think she's.. what country is that? With the.. argh. Anyway. I think everyone would appreciate if they now what's going on and why you need their help. * Throughout all this, Angie remains oblivious to the chatter going on behind her. Her tongue is sticking out a little bit, and her brow is tightened in concentration as she scratches away with the pencil. The page is rapidly filling with letters and integral signs. * Saki just lays back against a solid piece of air which is probably supposed to be a wall, apparently pleasantly content to listen. * Niri peers at Angie's scribblings, trying to make sense of it. Some of it falls perfectly into place, other parts just make her shake her head in confusion. [Webbly] I'll just get everyone one the speakers, you guys work out what you want to say to us all, okay? <> Er...okay. Well, this plan has triple redundancy now. I'm feeling a lot more hopeful, I have to admit. [Lucia] I have faith you can do it. After all, the Prophetess didn't destroy you all these times because she obviously knows about your potential. ...er, but. ...That doesn't quite make sense. ^^; Yeah, I was gonna say. No, no, in a way it does. [Lucia] It seems counter-productive, but I believe that for her plan she needs you in some way... That doesn't exactly make sense. If we could derail her plans wouldn't she have obliterated us? She had the chance. Maybe there's something she wants us to do with that potential * Mikel turns to stare at Tanan. "...how?" She's made it sound like she needs us for something. To do something, maybe. If we were powerless, she wouldn't. * Saki blinks out of a reverie, getting up to her feet. "... Zophar. In the end, their only goal. You don't kill potential allies." If we have the potential to do something, it's a risk she has to take that we'll actually do it. More or less. Things have worked out like that before. Aah. * Saki 's voice hardens just a little as she frowns, toying with the ring in her hand. "... I'm taking the piece of Noah we have south with us," she adds, out of the blue. Well, we're not gonna let the Prophetess jerk us around anymore. Not if we can help it. I will slam her with every tritone in my arsenal if I have to! ...tritone? Tri what? Leah grins. "Music is the weapon! Yeah!" Um. Really dissonant musical chord. Ah. I skipped music class. Once called "the devil's chord" according to ancient musical history. I hope this doesn't mean we're ALL expected to sing. If so, we're doomed. Hopefully I can manage! Maybe we can just... supercharge it with willforce. Instead of having all of us sing. Well, if we're going for dissonance, I bet we can all manage that. I'm not singing! Seriously, please don't make me. I can do anything else musically, or try. Just not the kind that involves opening my mouth and singing. * Mikel coughs. "Be better than me, I'm pretty sure." [Lucia] You don't all have to sing... it's using Niri's voice as a focus, and possibly your closeness with the Elementalors Trune. [Lucia] Please do what you can to help my daughter... I didn't say I wouldn't. * Johnathan looks at Lucia. "This really might work, huh?" << That sounded very Japanese. "Yoroshiku onegaishmasu!" >> Well, if it doesn't you'll probably find out when she shows up. * Angie stands up straight and holds her notes up to the light, peering at them. Her glasses catch the light, rendering them bright and opaque. [Lucia] And Angie, perhaps you can make a device to amplify it even more. Vytor, bring forth inspired arms for the battle that will follow. Mikel, your magic and wit. Saki, your strength to face the demons of the past. Ryllan's desire to bring everyone together for the greater good. And Tanan, guide them as you always have up till now. * Saki blinks, and bursts into another chuckle. "... 'Professor, gods help you, you're the normal one.'" * Vytor chuckles * Angie holds up her fingers crossed. "Okay! If my luck holds out, and I'm as brilliant as everyone says I am, I think I might be able to do this." She tilts her head, looking over the top of her glasses at Johnathan. "Headmaster, can I use the school's facilities and resources for this? I don't have enough materials and the portable forge won't be big enough." * Tanan smiles slightly. "I'm be more worried about what that implies for everyone else." -Johnathan- I wonder if people would get pissed if you cyper-raped them. like descriptively. grue does it like 3 times a day Look, it's not really 'rape' It's... uh... freeform poetry! Tanan's ALWAYS been the normal one! * Vytor considers something, and notes something down in his notepad -Trune- To see my random quote file, type: /ctcp Trune quote -Tanan- do you like the smashing pumpkins? :) no YOU SUCK -Niri- To see my random quote file, type: /ctcp Niri quote -Vytor- To see my random quote file, type: /ctcp Vytor quote -Angie- "Rosanna Racoon" * Johnathan looks up as Angie speaks, as though he wasn't paying attention. "What? Oh. Oh. Sure, you can use what we have here tonight. You really shouldn't delay long, though. Your best chance of success is still if you can get to Lure before they do anything do him. He just needs to learn to enjoy me driving. Heh. Thanks, Niri. I think. Then he'll be fine. Or letting me drive. * Johnathan frowns, appearing to come to a decision. "One more thing." Hmm? * Saki nods, agreeing with Johnathan. "The pull's getting stronger. I'm itching to move." * Mikel glances over at Johnathan. * Angie looks down at her notes, and makes a face. She bumps Vytor with the toe of her boot. "You up for a couple of all-nighters, boss?" If necessary. Hee. Angie, with the power of science! Vytor, with the power of smithing! Niri, with the power of HEART! * Mikel ... What. Huh? ...Um, never mind. * Mikel turns and stares at Niri for a couple moments. Lucia giggles a bit, finally breaking her seriousness. * Johnathan holds out a hand, a little silver sphere forming in it. "Take this. I'll be watching you. This may be our best chance. If you need my help..." * Trune stares at Niri. Just. Stares. Lord knows what I would be. No wait, don't say it. Just don't. I don't want to know. I don't want nightmares. Sunshine. Clearly. I told you not to say it! * Mikel grins. "It it wasn't me it'd be Niri." * Vytor looks up at Angie, "Just give me an idea of what to expect and I'll do what I can." * Niri giggles. "Mikel's right." All right, you of the magical /wit/. * Tanan reaches out to take the ball, since no one else seems inclined to. "Thank you." Oh! Whoops, sorry. Serious stuff. Thank you Johnathan. * Angie leans in to look at the ball, admiring her own distorted reflection in its surface. "What is this?" * Mikel waves a hand at Trune. "Don't hate me because I'm... okay yeah that one sucked." * Mikel turns his attention to the sphere. * Saki scratches absently at her hair, addressing John and looking mildly embarassed. "... thank you for letting me speak to her. I'll hold up my end of the bargain. ... so will she, I think." If you need to contact me, if you need help.. there you go. I can't promise miracles or anything. And if you ask me to just go one on one with her or something I'll just ignore you. But.. you know. Ha. That'd be a sight to see though. That's all I ask, Saki. It'd also probably level the entire area. Probably. >> As Tanan takes the sphere. It gives him a great sense of comfort, a powerful entity watching over him. It als adds to the group's magical reserves, bolstering them for a tough journey ahead. +10 MXP for shared pool! * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 36 - Alma Matters, pt 4 | Location: Hylan Academy | Pools: 720 §, 10 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ | Everyone should copycat Saki in journals.' [Lucia] There is one more thing before you go. [Lucia] I've been working on a little project on restoring some power to the White Dragon Wings... one day such a holy artifact allowed free movement almost anywhere instantly. But now they've become very weak... Yeah? [Lucia] If something very bad happens in the south and you need to retreat, call out my name and I may be able to boost them and get you far away from the Prophetess. * Mikel raises an eyebrow. "Well, you'll be watching anyways, won't you?" Handy. [Lucia] Mmhmm. Least you're up front about this time. * Niri looks thoughtful. "Um, okay." Yeah, we appreciate that. * Trune tries to keep the slight bitterness from his voice. He's /mostly/ successful. We appreciate it. Thanks you! [Lucia] If you manage to do this, Niri, there's a special place I need to show you sometime... Really? Where? * Mikel pats Trune on the shoulder. [Lucia] It's far across the eastern oceans. A forgotten temple to Althena. [Lucia] It might be of great use in our future battle against Zophar... I'd ask how you plan to get there, but after getting teleported across a continent, battleship included, I don't wanna know anymore. ^^; * Angie's eyes light up and she smiles stupidly. "I'd like to go across the ocean," she says, voice oddly subdued, like asking for a toy from Santa. [Lucia] There will be ships going there soon. Don't worry. *smile* ...Aaand Angie's gone. me chuckles <> It'd be nice to see. Oh! We should give a copy of that map to that island to someone too. * Angie shakes the sparkles out of her eyes and jabs Mikel in the chest with her finger. "Where's your sense of adventure!" she chides. "You're the worst secret agent ever!" Well, I wanna go, too! As long as we can do it the normal way. ...secret agent? * Mikel blinks at Angie. Aha! I KNEW he was a spy for Sonyele! ...hey! Well, the part where you specifically told us you were was kind of a clue honestly. * Saki smiles wryly, holding up her hands. "... don't look at me; I'm just the bodyguard." * Angie pulls back, shaking her head. "I'm sorry," she says, a touch of genuine remorse under the camp. "That wasn't fair of me." * Tanan grins. Now I have to wipe all of your minds. Dammit. Lucia then looks down at Ryllan. "Shall we all bring him to the infirmary?" He might appreciate that Yeah, I think that's wise. I suppose drawing on his face is out. [Lucia] The medical staff is truly wonderous. Johnathan trains only the best, don't you? * Tanan reaches into his pocket and passes Mikel a pen * Mikel looks sorely tempted. Yes... that would be a good idea. It might be a little while before he's ready to travel. You should use that time to get whatever you need done here done. ...Be nice, Mikel. * Saki shakes her head. "At this point, it's encouraged." Kneeling down next to Ryllan, she hefts him up without much pomp or circumstance into a fireman's lift. Aww, do I have to? Unless you want him to reciprocate next time you're caught off guard! He already punched me! * Johnathan smiles. "I think our staff is really quite good. Very gifted." * Johnathan looks a little more serious. "Be careful, everyone. And good luck." Lucia falls quiet after this and begins to use a healing litany to further stabilize and calm Ryllan before moving him. Niri begins to notice her mom's faint grey hairs interdispersed with the telltale unmistakable blue. She really isn't immortal, though age treats her and Hiro very well. He punched you? When? * Mikel coughs. "After Venus. Long story." Oh man, you must have really cheesed him off. Wasn't so much something at the moment than something I did before. * Saki smiles brightly and more than a little worryingly. "... I wouldn't worry:" she adds, completely at odds with the gesture. "I've thrown him into a wall before." ...Yeah, a lot of love in our little group. It warms the heart! Or love shown in peculiar ways. * Mikel glances at the pen, then back at Ryllan. * Vytor grins No, Mikel. No. Dammit. * Saki obligingly shifts to be pointing Ryllan in the right direction for Mikel. Session Time: Sun Apr 29 00:00:00 2007 See? Saki's giving me permission! We'll be sure to let Ryllan know that when he wakes up Yes, but Saki has a mean streak in her as wide a- ...it occurs to me that I like eating dinner. * Saki has just the slightest twinkle in her eye as she chuckles again. "Anyone does at this place? You could have fooled me." * Mikel eyes Tanan. "You handed me the pen, yanno." Did not. What pen? * Niri starts to giggle. * Mikel uncaps the pen and goes to draw a mustache and then a 'Tanan gave me the pen'. * Tanan peers at Mikel's work. "It's out of ink, you know." ... ... ...cunning. ... * Niri doubles over laughing. * Trune bursts out laughing! * Mikel lobs the pen back at Tanan, laughing. * Tanan bobbles the pen a little before finally catching it. * Vytor rolls his eyes * Johnathan sighs. "All right, children. It's off to the infirmary with you. Be careful, and good luck." * Johnathan raises his hand again, the office fading... >> A moment of laughter fades... but the real test of their cunning and resourcefulness is yet to come. Will they pass this challenge? Or is there a greater one lurking right around the corner? == SESSION END == Session Close: Sun Apr 29 00:07:30 2007
