[Tilea] *waits as well* Are they..? Ah, good. Yes, I was hoping I could elucidate on it a little more. [Tilea] It started off as many of the past dreams did, the shadow in the ice, right? * Vytor nods * Gayo|Gone is now known as Gayo [Tilea] Normally when that occurs, I run away from it in fear. It's a natural reaction to the horror that place inspires in me. But this time I didn't immediately. * Vytor pulls out his pad and starts taking notes [Tilea] I was summarily shocked when buried in the glacier seemed to be an effigy of you, Vy! An effigy? Of me? [Tilea] It was covered with black blanket of some sort. Slumbering. Like some primordial caveman trapped in the ice. [Tilea] I knew it wasn't you, but the resemblance was uncanny... * Vytor keeps taking notes with a puzzled look on his face Strange. [Tilea] Then there was what sounded like thundering alarams and klaxons [Tilea] And what looked like a huge shadow arose from the ice. It was legions of faceless, nameless warrior, all in that black cloak. Alarms...and....klaxons... [Tilea] I woke up in a cold sweat after that... * Vytor frowns For a dream it seems rather ominous. [Tilea] I normally have very bland visions. But this -- this was very frightening. What do you think it means? [Tilea] Something uniquivocally very dangerous is stirring in that Valley. * Vytor sets down his notepad and pencil, and looks around to make sure no one can overhear them [Tilea] Maybe I thought of you since you visited there recently, but. Actually, there's something you need to know. Tilea tilts her green haired head to listen attentively to her brother. You know how my friends and I went to Bluetooth, right? [Tilea] Yes, certainly. What did you discover? When we were there, we found the source of the radiation. There's some kind of facility under the ice. It uses some kind of nooclear reactor down there, and its malfunctions were causing the radiation. [Tilea] Nooclear...? Hmm, that sounds familiar. We don't know much about the facility, how big it is or what's its for, but its inhabited by...I'm not sure what you'd call them actually. They were like zombies almost. They were repairing the damage to the reactor when we arrived. [Tilea] Oh.. now I recall. That's a power source of the devestation war period. Highly energetic chemical reactions that produce at times uncontrolled forces and side effects We interrupted them and they attacked us with tools. We managed to beat them, but that left us with with a still damaged reactor, and Tanan's radiation suit was compromised in the process. That's the one. So what ever that facility is down, its been there since the devistation war. <> * Lucca (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Permission denied) [Tilea] There's many things tht have surived.. and many old weapons and other horrors... were these like men, or more automated mechanical entities? Well, they bled when cut, so they're not machines. [Tilea] Somehow, I find that more disturbing that some robots... << than >> But if they were alive, they were just...creepy. Saki said it was almost like they had no souls. Tilea frowns. "Well, we do have the technology, or at least Virtue rediscovered it, to create lifeforms. But they do inevitably have no souls." [Tilea] That's why noone really uses it. Ethical implications. If that kind of capability was around in the devistation war, that may be what we're looking at now. [Tilea] This is fascinating to think about.. but... my dream. What if this is some kind of factory? Let's hope its not. We have no idea how big that facility really was. [Tilea] Making soldiers for a war that ended millenia ago? [Tilea] Pure conjecture of course. But if it has workers maintaining an infrastructure, it is safe to say that all those explorers who came before met an untimely end when they came to close to this base. Well, we do know one thing. The workers we attacked were numbered in a way that suggested there might be up to a thousand of them. << er too >> [Tilea] Numbers...? Would those sequences.. happen to be in any way similar to that birthmark? So what are they maintaining there that requires a thousand workers? ...yeah, they were. Vytor runs a hand over his face, "It gets worse. When we were down there. We fixed the reactor. Or more accurately, /I/ fixed the reactor. All I had to do was look at it long enough, and somehow I just KNEW what I needed to do. What I can't figure out is HOW or WHY I knew any of that. [Tilea] I don't want to think of msyelf as some seer, but these paralells are starting to get disconcerting. Worse still, we found a small, black blanket frozen in the ice. It had some strange symbol on it, and the alchemical symbols for 6-12 on it. [Tilea] I don't want to jump to any crazy conclusions -- but if all this you say is fact, then it supports the logical result of... well... Of? Tilea doesn't complete her sentence, instead grabs' Vytor's hand in hers. [Tilea] But that's impossible. You are my brother, not some soulless thing. Preposterious. I shouldn't even think such a thought! * Vytor smiles lopsidedly at Tilea and comforts her with his free hand, "Hey, let's not jump to any conclusions yet. There's anough weird in this whole situation to justify all this madness here." Besides, its all just a lot of coincidences so far. [Tilea] You're right. But still. We need to bring this up to the authorities. Get a proper expedition going. Perhaps even a brigade of fighters. I won't argue that point. It would be better if we had some hard evidence, but maybe all the circumstantial evidence will carry enough weight in this matter. [Tilea] This is a mystery that could be vital to the Blue Star... whether security or research. But with the current state of affairs, who knows when that might happen... The best we do is give what warning we can. [Tilea] I'm not sure where you intend to go from here, Vy, but I'm going to gather our notes and experiences and present the idea. [Tilea] At least I can make myself more useful than as of late. Good. We've still got a lot of research and exploration ahead of us, but I'll feel better knowing you're on top of things here. [Tilea] Working singlemindedly on my papers is all well and good, but this is a conundrum that defines our lives... * Vytor nods It'll be all right, I'm sure of it. [Tilea] I've always liked your confidence, Vy. *smile* * Vytor grins back, glad to see her lightening up a little. Don't you worry that head of yours. We've still got time to get ahead of this before it gets bad. [Tilea] You're right. It has stayed sleeping for centuries, a few more years won't hurt. [Tilea] Besides, you must be having enough to worry about following that vivacious Niri and her troupe around chasing ghosts and illusionists Besides, if that whole place is in as bad a condition as the portion we found, they've got their hands full up there as is. No lie [Tilea] I'm not entirely sure I trust her! Those celebrities can be really cocky. Be her voice of reason if you can, brother. They do tend to get into trouble when I'm not around to reign them in. Tilea laughs knowingly. * Vytor stands up, "Speaking of which, I'd best get back to them." [Tilea] Hey, we could get into plenty of trouble ourselves not too long ago. True, but we grew up a lot since then. I'll keep you posted with what we find out. Maybe it'll help shed light in other areas. Tilea offers her sibling a loving hug. "And we still have a lot more to go. Be safe, alright? I'll be here if you need any sage advice." * Vytor returns the embrace, "Thanks, you take care of yourself too." Tilea gets up from the lunchtable, book hastily marked to where she left off, and makes her way slowly out of the dining facility. She looks back now and again to wave. * Vytor waves back, then heads in the opposite direction, keeping his face carefully schooled. << schooled :o >> <> == LUDE END == * Retrieving #lunar-iog2 modes... * TheStoryteller sets mode: -m Session Close: Sat Apr 28 17:41:54 2007
