Session Start: Sat Mar 17 20:57:41 2007 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging for #lunar-iog2 started * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 33: Beacon Beckons | Location: Pacific Ocean, East | Pools: 728 §, 0 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' == SESSION START == Evening falls upon the covert destroyer 'Fragarach' and it's heroic skeleton crew. The self-appointed captain of the vessel, Emiria, once she had recieved an explaination of what happened, was eager to return to the coast. The distortions had ceased and the engines were able to return to full operation. Sailing back east, it was some time before you'd reach Kali... The sunset was beautiful at sea, and the evening fell like a curtain of peaceful night. Pluto was on deck and taking in the scenery, a little winded from the hijinks in the mess hall. * Saki is still stationed on deck, whiling the time away with soething a little like meditation and something a little like napping. She has taken care to place herself respectfully far away from Pluto, however; it's simply less problems that way. * Vytor is also on deck, taking a breather from the engine maintenance since he got the auto-systems working again. * Angie has been moving between the deck and the engine room for most of the trip. She's topside now, same as Vytor, just staring over the aft rail at the ship's wake. It is certainly ncie to watch the water. It seems very pure and unpolluted, a lot unlike some of the lands they have recently visited. Do we have a plan once we hit land? * Saki keeps something of a watchful eye on Pluto despite her meditative position; part worry, part blatant curiosity. "... we should report about stopping the fires, at least." True, more exploration teams might be willing to look the area over now. * Trune is up on deck, sitting against a side wall of a ship and reading some sort of large book. Occasionally he looks up towards the water, then back down towards his book. The small girl appears to be in a meditative state as well. It could be simply watching the night slowly desecnd, or perhaps she was actually gathering power from her element.. either way she was surrounded by a palpable cloak of shadows that shifted about her like phantom playmates. * Mikel yawns, having taken a seat on deck near the edge. He keeps an ear towards the conversation, though his eyes are towards the water as well. [Pluto] ...mmm... I can feel something... very very far... Mmm? ? * Trune looks up and puts his book away, considering his light source is beginning to wane. * Angie folds her arms and leans them against the rail, watching the reflection of the ship's lights shimmer in the water. She either doesn't notice or ignores the conversation. A few banks of halogen lights come on as the daylight all but vanishes * Huwnap is now known as Huw * Mikel glances at Pluto, raising an eyebrow. "Hm?" * Saki shifts just a little, away from Pluto's shifting aura. [Pluto] It's very faint, but... it's a little like sister Another one? Sister....you mean Venus, right? * Tanan walks out onto deck, looking around Pluto nods calmly to Trune. [Pluto] It is a great distance... that way. *points Eastward* Huh. Whaddya know? As she does so, one of the faint ghosts forms into a taller, beautiful blonde woman with pointy ears. * Mikel blinks, getting to his feet and walking over. "Huh.." I'd have thou---*stops, and blinks* okay that is NOT normal. East? Since we're going that way, its kind of convenient. * Tanan quietly makes his way over to try to get a long at the image <> >> That's enough to get Angie's attention. She pushes lazily off the rail and walks over to the others, adjusting her glasses to get a better look at the image. [Pluto] Venus lived in a place by the rocky cliffs... an ancient lighthouse above the testing site. Is that her, or are you making some sort of projection of her? Becuase if you're projecting that....that is so awesome. * Saki has perhaps a bitter little smile, propped up against a railing. "Convenient's practically our watchword." [Pluto] Oh... it's.. just an illusion.. Pluto closes her eyes a minute, and suddenly the shadows following her turn into copies of the 8 elementalors. * Mikel frowns, thinking. "Lighthouse, huh?" * Tanan blinks, looking at the figures. "Wow. That's pretty good. I don't recognize that one, though. She's the last?" You do not recognize a green haired, kind-eyed female that is standing among them... this must be Saturn. That's the lot of 'em? * Angie frowns at the phantoms. "Did you know each other well before the fall?" she asks. * Trune stares long and hard at the projections, "That's all of them...?" [Pluto] We... were all seperated. Uniting us was very dangerous... [Pluto] But, that was because the creators didn't have full control also... Dangerous? * Vytor doesn't like the sound of that Dangerous for them, or for you? None of the others seemed worried about this. And none of you seem very dangerous once you've calmed down, so I don- well ok none of you besides Mars... Why would uniting be dangerous? Is it because there's so much power concentrated in one spot? The Dark Elementalor nods to Trune [Pluto] Until the experiments were finished, or we awakened in a... * Trune has a worried look on his face suddenly as a dark thought comes to mind, "Then...uniting on the moon like this...Is this a good idea?" So, if we send all of the Ollaymontners to the Moon, it might blow up? Pluto blinks a moment, giving a blank stare. [Pluto] ...I seem to have forgotten. Hmm. *frown* * Angie backs up and leans against a wall, looking up at the stars. She squints purposefully up at that cosmic vista for a minute or so, then disappears inside, returning shortly with her notebook and a tiny stubby pencil. * Mikel just lets out a groan. "Maybe the doc knows?" * Saki stalks up to her feet, turning to look out over the water. There's something of an air of a sulk about her, but that's nothing unusual. She pays attention to the conversation from aside, leaving the thinking to everyone else. * Tanan looks at Vytor, then back at Pluto. "Nnnno. I doubt it. Even if there's some sort of synergistic effect, I can't imagine they'd equal the prophetess' power, and she hasn't blow up yet." >> ECC beeps That we know of. * Huw is now known as DrWebbly You really think he does? I could try contacting him but I bet he'll talk about Moon Chocolate and all the naugty things you can do wi---oh man speak of the devil. * Mikel blinks. "Speak of th-" * Trune pulls out the ECC, "Hey Doc. How's tricks?" * Mikel snickers. Someone's beeping. * Saki turns around and leans up against the railing, looking mildly pained. "... I swear he must spy on us." * DrWebbly appears to be holding some cloth and a threaded needle. "Pluto! Bears or Cows?" * Tanan blinks. "You're sewing a blanket?" Pajamas! ...random. ...he sews, he cooks. We should get him married. A costume? Oh man WORSE than that. Pajamas? Can't you just let the girl express her inner goth? Pluto looks at the projection a moment and tries to understand this query. "Doctor! Cows...?" * Tanan glances at Pluto, stifling a laugh. * DrWebbly nods, starts sewing big friendy cow faces he printed out onto the pajamas. "Cows it is." Pluto claps. [Pluto] My friends were saying you're uniting us on the moon! Is that true? Hmm? Seems like. Until you all are fit and healthy enough to get on with whatever exciting new lifes you want to lead. * Angie peers over Trune's shoulder at the communicator -- an impressive feat, being a head shorter than him. "Doctor, how's Mars?" Yeah, how is she? Oh. Somethings blipping here. Mars? Nnn... She's still mental? Oh? No. She's quite cognisant. But still weak. * Mikel winces. "Ehe..." Did she say anything? Can she answer our questions? She pushed herself quite hard, it takes time for by-products between the neurons to clear out I'm glad she'll be all right. She seemed to be... well, 'agitated' wouldn't be saying half of it. * DrWebbly cocked his head. "If you've some questions I can ask them over tea later, but I'd rather avoid direct contact for a little while longer yet. Did you have fun with your new friends, Pluto? * Angie searches the faces of the other party members, finally turning back to the intercom with a shrug. "I guess if she has anything important she'll let us know?" * Mikel taps a finger on his staff, mulling. "Maybe we went a bit overboard." * Saki keeps quiet, answering Angie's look with the same careful watching of the scene. If you take the time to look she's clearly worried about being so near Pluto, but putting on a fairly brave face given her usual conduct. Pluto nods. "They showed me something delicious called 'ice cream'!" Oh! Oh! Oh! What flavour? Ah. Yes. That reminds me, do you want to come up here yet Pluto? [Pluto] Well there was all kinds of them.. Niri was still cleaning up from the mess we made. And Saki helped... [Pluto] ...well, I do want to see all my brothers and sisters soon. I'm sure they are worried. Pluto looks out to sea again. "But, did you also feel that presence...?" * Angie sucks on the eraser of her pencil and squints up at the stars. "I'm kind of sad we didn't go to the island," she muses. "I was curious." * Saki blinks once, holding up her hands. "--only on the base," she puts forth, sounding a little lost. She takes a while to realise the conversation's moved on, and trails off. Not generally, feedback on the prototype was limi-- oh yeah. Blipping. Scanners. Ah.. actually. Doctor? Pluto? Would it be a problem to keep her with us a little longer? She said she thinks she's feeling Venus, we might want to look into that... and she's the only one feeling it. Eh, sooner or later I probably will too. I'm fun like that. * DrWebbly puts down the pajamas and fiddles with controls. "Hmm. I think I've got a position for.. Venus probably. Ah, they were still using that old place?" What old place? Mm. Do you guys have lighthouses? Towers with bright lights to lead ships and stuff? Yeah, there's one near the academy, but boats don't really go that far out into the ocean. There's too much unexplored land...too many unknowns. «ooc: Retcon that if I'm wrong ^^ » << Academy's a bit inland. >.> >> Yeah, the lack of ocean travel makes them kind of superfluous. << no, that's fairly accurate. most vessels do non-blue water trips. >> < Mmm. Little enough unless you intend to build your house there. * Saki runs a hand back through her hair and sighs out a heavy breath. "... I guess if we've got the opportunity..." Where is this place? * DrWebbly raises up a map A secret lighthouse base! That's awesome. The map displayes shows the location of a bright yellow signature eminating from the nrotheast coast of America, not too far up from Meribia. We should really make a copy of that map and give it to the academy. Huh, it's not exactly in our backyard but it's not all that far from 'home' either. I'll be damned. [Pluto] Oh.. that is it? * Angie squints at the flickering image of the map. "Aw, it's on the other side. I was thinking we could sail there, but I guess not." She juts out her lower lip in a pout. "I guess we can see how things are doing in Meribia, though. I wanna see if I'm like super famous yet." * Tanan frowns, staring at the map. "That might actually be up into the icefields." Hmm? Oh I guess it might be difficult to get to. I always was bad with my american geography Um...how do we get there from here? Are we going to get a boat on the other side of the continent? And yes Tanan, I think it is. * Mikel nods, peering. "That's why I asked about radiation... hm." It is indeed up in the ice, but it appears to be a large island offset from the continent. * Saki huffs out a breath, watching the map with a hawkish glare. "... always back and forth." Oh well. We were plenty warm on this trip, guess it's time to get cold again. * Angie 's face falls as Tanan's comment sinks in. * Trune actually looks rather pleased, "Cold weather? Kickass." You've clearly never been up there * Mikel shakes his head. "If we have to don suits again I'll be annoyed. Maybe we can get a boat in Meribia though?" I hope so, otherwise its a long swim. Better suits than another irradiated kidney. Well. I'll leave you guys to it then, I guess? Pluto, you coming or lounging around for a bit more? [Pluto] ...I really should head back... * Angie looks over to Pluto with interest. This is something she's been curious about too. Are you feeling okay Pluto? The Elementalor looks over at Saki. "I'm fine -- conditions normal. I think I'm also making Saki uneasy." Hey...I'm not enjoying the radiation part of it. Just the cold weather part. * Mikel shakes his head. "The suits /suck/." * Saki winces openly at that, shaking her head in a quick staccato movement. "... I'm sorry," she mutters, adding after a moment: "If I could help it..." Well, there's Moon Chocolate up here. And I'm sure the gang will all be pleased to see you. Hugs are owed. * Tanan gives Trune a look. "You _like_ freezing?" Well, more than the 'oh god I'm burning to death' fun we had a few days ago. Cold IS easier to escape than hot. Besides...I uh... Pluto nods to the projection of the Doctor. * Trune shuts up and actually looks just a little....embarrased? Sheepish? It's hard to tell. * Mikel just shakes his head, leaning against the railing. "Maybe we should pick up some suits from the labs on the way back." Just in case, yeah. Those suits don't last long. We might want to look into a longer-term solution. Okay. Jupy, fire up the whirly-gig we are going for a spin! What? What? It's a figure of.. okay... initiate the transfer array. Hmpf. No sense of humour that lad. * Tanan looks back and forth between Vytor and Trune, then turns to Angie. "Back me up here?" Pluto edges over to Trune. "Are you OK?" ...whirly-gig. Me? Uh! Yeah! Yeah I'm fine. [Pluto] I just wanted to thank you again for helping me out of that place. Call me whenever you're in trouble, and I'll repay the favor... * Trune smiles and ruffles the girl's hair (or is girl even accurate), "Don't sweat it. Anytime. You'll be reuinted with the rest of your family soon." * DrWebbly whistles some ancient tune. "and let my fly among the hmmm.. hmm da hmm hmm da da da hmm da doo doo dee.." The diminuitive psychic soldier blushes a bit as she gets the kiddie treatment. Underneath Trune;'s hand her form begins to shine and ripple, and then in a spear of night, the heaven upon up to claim her. His finegrs are left holding nothing but a few wisps of dark energy like a girls' ribbon fluttering. * Angie manages a parting smile. "See you," she says, waving goodbye to Pluto. "Thankls for not trying to kill us." << er open up >> «ooc: doh! » Bye Pluto. * Mikel yawns, pondering. "Maybe I can get advance pay from Sonyele in the labs, too." He blinks at light show, waving. * Saki breathes out something of an unintended sigh as the girl is sent away, then looks immediately guilty for it; that melts away after a moment or two into a rather wan smile. * Trune sighs as well, "Guess that's that." * Tanan grins. "Miss her already, Trune? She was definitely the most normal of them." You wouldn't think the darkness elemental would be the least crazy. Yeah! I'm really rather surprised. Anyway. Gotta go guys. You know what these lads are like. They'll just mope around like prince danishes if I don't keep them in check! ...Prince danishes? What the hell? * Mikel just... blinks. Erm. Danish princes? I forget! Take care, Doctor. Say hi to all of them for us. * DrWebbly blips out of sight Wait...so they are pastries? Let's just call it another mystery of the ancient world. Oh come on, don't leave! Not when you're making no sense! Yeah I've stopped trying to figure him out. Damn it. Now I'm going to spend all day wondering what the fuck a Danish Prince pastry is. * Saki rakes her hair again, shaking her head once to get rid of the cobwebs. "... we've a next stop, I guess." Another cross country trek. I get to drive this time. Vetoed. I can put you in a block of ice for the trip if you want. Strangely, Pluto's fibers of raw willforce linger on even after she is gone. There's a slight twinkle to them. * Mikel smiles all innocent like. * Trune hmms, "Hey, her willforce energy hasn't left." * DrWebbly is now known as Huw I'd get shattered, with my luck. If you can call it that I guess. Weird. * Trune reaches out the touch one of the strange ribbons of energy, curious. She left something behind. Trune notices them breaking, but the twinkling is actually a force of light willforce converting and neutralizing them. * Saki watches them dully for a moment, then sinks down to the deck with something of a low groan. "... at least we get a rest. Even if it is on the road." Wasn't much doubt of that, I suppose. We're pretty far from anywhere still * Trune 's face looks confused for a brief moment, then he shakes his head and lowers his hand. * Angie smiles at Saki. "You gonna stop back home on the way?" A few stars come out to show themselves as the evening progresses. There appears to be one particular spot in the sky glowing quite brightly to the east, rising from the horizon. * Saki frowns up, and nods briefly. "... if we've the time, I wouldn't mind. An Academy stop wouldn't hurt either, just to see how either place is holding up." * Mikel yawns, pondering. "Back to the academy as well? Hmm." We have things to look into there, I suppose. * Angie clasps her book to her chest and walks to the rail, staring off into the black. We have a lot of things to look at actualy. * Tanan frowns, looking at the bright spot on the horizon. "Hold on." Bah, the academy. Assuming Saki still has the notepad with all our notes on it. Fun as getting all the hair on my head mercilessly ripped off. But it can't be helped, can it? Angie and Tanan recognize it as the "Morning Star", a bright planet whose name is still lost to explorer yet. It does seem particularely luminescent tonight though... * Saki shrugs onesidedly. "Somewhere. ... I know it'll probably still be in disarray, but a stop at New Meribia wouldn't hurt either. I've been gone a lot longer than expected." That's odd. * Trune sharply looks to Saki, "No! Let's...not go there. Okay?" * Vytor looks oddly at Trune Go where? Well...c'mon. I may still be wanted. ...like anyone's gonna be able to arrest you with all of us there. Leah walks out ond eck, followed by Shiro, stretching her arms We'll need to stop there for a boat. And I doubt anyone will be willing to start an incident over things now. We're on official business. Especially considering who we're working for now. * Saki blinks twice, and then frowns. "... I'd at least like to get a message there. Besides, we can hide you." Recovering a little of her spirit, she grins unpleasantly. "In a sack." If we're stopping by the academy anyway, we can get some real complicated looking papers or something. [Leah] What a mess... *yawn* maybe I should just go to sleep early... Hide me in a sack and bad things'll happen. Besides, you...uh...haven't met the guards yet. Hi Leah. We could put you to sleep first. * Mikel grins before stretching his arms out. Man, no one understands! You guys just wait till you see the guards then. Then you totally will understand! Leah smiles nervously. "I don't need a willforce sleep aid spell, really!" Behind her smile is a little bit of legitimate uneasiness when he mentions sleep, though. * Vytor shrugs, and lies back on the deck, still feeling the faint thrum of the engines through the metal plates. * Mikel waves a hand. "I meant Trune, Leah. Don't worry. And what about the guards, Trune?" Well...oh man this is going to make me look so bad. * Saki shakes her head a little with a frown, then finishes it with a shrug. "... as you like. I still need to at least get a message home, though." And a boat. First, they're all women. With cat o' nine tails. Did I mention they're /bunnies/? Bad ass bitch babe bunnies. Shiro growls.. >.> Bunnies. I've still got some scars on my back from those leather-bound hussies. [Leah] Yea, Shiro. I know... those bunny-girl cops were really mean weren't they? ...bunny girls. * Mikel just lets out a sigh. * Tanan slowly smiles. "Heheh... I'm picturing little white rabbits with whips now. I'm sorry, I know it's probably not funny to you. But.. heh..." * Saki gets to her feet slowly, hair covering her face to stifle a momentary grin at Trune's expense. "... well, they've probably got bigger problems than you right now." * Vytor snrks * Trune looks a bit exasperated as a few of his friends stifle laughs, "Man, see! Totally do not understand!" * Saki shrugs again. "... we do need a boat, though. You could wait out of town, or risk coming in surrounded by us." * Trune grumbles, "I'll come but if I get arrested I expect a dramatic rescue." Or at least a cake with a saw in it. * Huw is now known as Huwnap We'll deal with that hurdle when we get there. Long way to go until then. No kidding. * Angie drifts slowly around the entire circumference of the ship, one hand on the rail and the other clutching her book. Eventually she finds her way back to the group. Whatcha talking about? Bunny girl guards. Trune getting arrested THe usual. This is the usual? Well Honestly it's a lot more normal than the usual, if you think about it? * Angie chuckles at that. "I've heard about that! You should have come to New Takkar, it's much saner." She leans a shoulder against one wall and looks Trune over appraisingly. "Prolly be fine, though, eh? We're all heroic and shit now and they've got a lot of other stuff to worry about." ... We live different lives than other people. * Saki just sort of sits, in a pile. She is perhaps looking just a bit wistful at the idea of going back home for a bit. Man, screw other people. Other people are boring! * Tanan stares at Angie * Mikel cracks up laughing. * Trune also stares at Angie. O_o * Angie looks faintly self-conscious but does not respond. * Vytor laughs! That says it all right there ^_- * Tanan opens his mouth as if to say something a couple times I uh. I guess I really can't argue that. [Leah] An explorer's life is never boring! Uh-huh. Well...yeah, but... * Mikel smirks. "Indeed." * Saki hauls herself up and starts pacing a little, apparently restless. She's got her sea legs, at least, but looks like she wants to be getting somewhere rather than boating along. * Trune looks like he's trying to formulate or say something. He licks his lips a couple of times in thought, then shuts up, thinking the better of it. * Mikel glances at Trune, raising an eyebrow. ...What? The star up ahead of the vessel which seemed very bright only seems to be getting moreso as the night wears on. A cloud passes over it and still it is largely visible through the fog. * Mikel shrugs. "Looked like you wanted to say something..." He glances at the star, raising an eyebrow. "Bright." Meanwhile, Leah makes good on that promise to head below decks, setting off a chain reaction in the group. The tight quarters were meant to house many sailors, but since there's so few of you each bay is like a spacious room instead. >> Time passes... it's soon dawn. Most have a wish to sleep in, but there's a banging on the metal doors to each person's self-declared 'room'... [Leah] Hey, guys, wake up! You have to see this! * Mikel falls out of his bed with a shout. * Vytor wakes with a start, fearing something is wrong. Huhwhathehell?! * Angie drags herself out of her bunk and fumbles for her glasses, eyes half shut. * Saki is up in moments; an already light sleeper not used to boating. Two blinks and she's on the move. * Vytor throws on what clothes his has and races for the deck! * Tanan hauls himself out of his room, grabbing his stuff and hurrying out with his shield held upside down * Mikel hauls on some stuff after climbing to his feet, rushing up as well. Niri, true to form, sleeps in despite Shiro scratching and whimepring at her door. * Trune falls out of bed as Leah bangs on the door, "What the fuck! Where's the fire? What the---ow dammit!" * Angie emerges a few minutes later, her holster and coat hastily thrown on. She squints at Leah from behind tilted frames. "What is it?" The groups notice that outside the portholes the light coming in for this time of day is totally too bright to be considered normal. * Trune suddenly rushes out of his room, looking rather rumpled and hastily put together. Even his shoes are on the wrong feet. What is it? [Leah] Outside... you gotta see for yourself! * Saki blinks once, frowns, then bolts for deck. "... something's up." * Mikel lets out a groan as he makes the mistake of glancing out a porthole. "I... oh jeez." Run run, up to the deck~ * Trune quickly rushes up to the deck, nearly tripping over his two feet as he runs. * Angie glares at Leah. "So that's your game," she grumbles. "This had better be super awesome." * Vytor bursts open the hatch leading to the deck, looking for the source of the distrubance. * Tanan hurries up as well, almost coming to a stop once he's clear of the stairway. "Sweet mercy..." * Mia_Ausa (~Mia_Ausa@pool-72-74-128-194.bstnma.east.verizon.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Angie bursts onto deck and immediately recoils into the shadow of the doorway, shielding her poor eyes. * Saki is at least a little prepared; she bursts out just a little behind Vytor, already shielding her eyes with her wrists. * Trune quickly covers his eyes, "Damn that moon sure is bright!" Arriving topside, you are forced to shield your eyes at the brightness that assaults your grogy senses. Tanan sword and armor pulses in tune with the massive amount of willforce in the atmospshere. After a moment to adjust, you find the sun arising as it should.. only the rays seem magnified many times over. ...what the hell?! It is not warm, but very very bright. Did the Allumentlors blow up already? No...but something weird is going on...Maybe. No. No way. * Mikel squints, raising a hand. "What is it, Trune?" * Saki grits her teeth, shivering a little despite herself. A moment or two to orient and then she's pushing forward, keeping her eyes shielded with one arm. Man, maybe it wasn't indigestion from the ice cream. I had a weird dream last night. With Venus in it. ...erm. Is this localized on us, or... * Trune glances at Mikel, and then suddenly looks rather comically embarrased. He begins to sputter, "It wasn't like that! I swear to goddess it wasn't!" Now is the time to be telling us about that! * Tanan squints, staring into the sky * Mikel coughs. "Right, right. Wha the hell wa it then?" << what* >> Well she was uh...reaching out to me. The rays appear to be alive in some fashion, as they physically rush past and envelop the Fragarach. The hull's neutralizing effects begin to dampen this exertion. It is quite obviously an effect directly solely at you. .. ... ... It still wasn't like that! What's it doing? There's a voice that calls out in the shimmering sun: [Voice] Ah hah... so you've done it after all! ...erm, hey? Are you... Venus? [Voice] I was waiting for you for a long time.... saviors of my Sisters and Brothers. ..? Venus? * Saki shakes her head, still pushing forward. "... not quite..." Upon the deck begins to coalesce a humanoid form. It occurs very similarly to a summon effect but in slow motion, seeing each mtoe of light build the blonde woman bit by bit into a coherent vision. ....She was in my dream. Yeah...that's gotta be Venus. [Venus] How very perceptive... I'm indeed the Photo-kinetic mistress. How did we get here? Did you do this? * Vytor looks lost. Big suprise. The manifestation appears highly unstable, but holds together as she mimics Trune's vision holding out her hand. * Tanan stops and stares * Mikel raises an eyebrow. "...Pretty." [Venus] I'm reaching out to you with my strength from very far away... * Saki lowers her arm slowly, letting herself carefully get used to the level of light around. It takes more than a little effort, but she gets there. * Angie steps onto the deck, eyes squeezed to slits. Her right hand slips into her coat and her fingers wrap around the cold grip of her pistol. For now, however, she waits. [Venus] I'm sorry for not appearing sooner, but I was watching your progress the whole time. How we doing? [Venus] I didn't think you'd make it, at first... humans certainly have evolved a lot haven't they? ..? * Mikel tilts his head. "Uh, thanks, I think." I...guess? * Saki grits her teeth, hunkering down in preparation. "... we've still got to prove it to you, though." I... we're... you... [Venus] ...oh reading from my script are you, Saki? The projection appears to chuckle. Uh... * Saki doesn't look amused. "I'm getting the hang of it." * Mikel rubs his forehead. "Another fight?" * Angie closes her eyes entirely, thumb playing along the hammer of the gun. "Everyone always underestimates the heroine," she says. She says it as much to herself as to Venus, like a mantra. [Venus] I wish to challenge you, indeed -- I'm the last of the Elementalors on this continent. And one of the most powerful in manipulation of willforce... But... Well...to your credit, at least you're stable. * Trune shrugs to the others, "Oh come on, you didn't expect our good luck with not fighting them to last, did you?" [Venus] It's not a fight so much as a test of what you yourselves have learned... you need to master your powers if you stand a chance against the shadows of the past... they are stalking you even now... Great... The shadows of the past....stalking us? That's better, I guess. Is there anyone or anything /not/ stalking us? [Venus] The dark entitiy that destroyed Meribia nearby... and then the appearance of a familiar energy of Zophar. ...destroyed Meribia? Wait... * Mikel stares. * Tanan shakes his head, bringing himself back to reality. [Venus] You want our strength to fight them, correct? You mean New Meribia, right? Would that be the prophetess? But she...didn't destroy it. Did she? * Saki just listens, coiled like a spring. She's letting Venus say her piece, though not much more. * Vytor tries to piece all this together in his head. Well, yes, though don't get the wrong idea. You're more than just...weapons. [Venus] She destroyed it's heart and soul by killing Mayor Bree and Mister Astorian Yes. We want to use your power... or maybe to lend you ours. You can't tell us that they're not your enemies as well. You've seen all of this? You're different than the other Elementlors. You know current events. How long have you been aware? * Mikel frowns. "Ah... scared me for a moment..." He thinks for a moment. "Zophar? * Saki shakes herself out, setting up for a fight; apparently just a little more lucid than normal. "... You're underestimating people. They're not the only ones who can take charge." * Tanan grins. "We're not so different. If you want a test, I can understand that." [Venus] Mmm, it is hard to say. Time flows differently for everyone. But I have been awake for a considerable time. I am almost able to escape to the moon myself. [Venus] It's not a bad test. You might even enjoy it! What'd you have in mind, then? * Angie snorts sharply, opening her eyes a sliver. [Venus] Perhaps the Professor especially... he knows about tests of an Adet's power? << adept >> ..? * Trune turns his head to Tanan, "Huh?" * Mikel glances over at Tanan. "Hm, Prof?" MMm. None of you are in the academy's guard, so I'm not really surprised you haven't heard of them. [Venus] If you can show me your mastery of every elemental force, you will pass. It's simple really -- but if you lack the control, your very own energy will harm you instead. I'm not either, but I was tempted for a while... and I've helped set one or two up. It's kind of a test of focus and power, make sure they can handle their duties. [Venus] Up till now even my relatives had trouble with this very thing! * Mikel ehes, scratching the back of his head. "Every elemental force? Uhm..." * Tanan looks at Venus, unable to keep a smile off his face. "She's right. I'm terribly curious to see this." * Trune rubs his hands together, not seeming phased. Perhaps he even looks...eager? "Seriously? Every elemental force? Sounds like a challenge!" * Vytor looks dubious of this * Saki cracks her knuckles, finally deeming herself awake and ready enough. "... let's go, then." All of us have to do this? Or just enough to cover the elements? [Venus] Oh, Trune... that must be why little Pluto was so fond of you. * Mikel chuckles. "This ought to be good." [Venus] I'll take you to my dwelling and explain further... "Wait a sec!" ahouts Angie, holding out her left hand. "Can you get us back here after?" [Venus] Oh, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'll simply move your entire ship to the East... ...wait WHAT * Mikel glances at the ship, then at Venus, then at Venus again. << ...at the ship again should be in there too >> * Trune 's mouth drops open, "You can do that?!" ..entire...ship? * Saki does actually react to that; her stoic hostility sharply replaced by open shock. "... wh--" * Angie 's eyes widen, causing a pulse of pain to rattle around her head. She looks around as if seeing the outdoors for the first time, then grins with a touch of mania. "If you think you can," she says. [Venus] I can only do it once, thanks to a certain system here. I was saving this little trick for the right time. * Amy (Amy@c-71-193-221-51.hsd1.or.comcast.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Amy << Amy :D >> [Leah] Actual teleportation of a whole ship?? Whoa Aw, I was going to ask if you could teach me. I could do it at parties. ...If I was invited to them, that is. Party crashing? * Saki processes the various information, and comes to one conclusion: hang on to a railing. Nah. * Vytor seconds Saki's suggestion * Angie eases off the gun. She's not eager to shoot a hole in herself while Venus is yanking the ship around. The whole ship? That's a pretty b- well. Hrm. * Tanan looks down the length of the ship and starts counting on his fingers * Saki shrugs, clinging to a railing with an iron grip. "Let's go. Better now than never." Guess I'd better hang onto something. * Amy (Amy@c-71-193-221-51.hsd1.or.comcast.net) Quit (Quit: ) * Vytor shuts his eyes, figuring it might be best. * Mikel reaches out to grab onto the railing, tapping a foot. "This is gonna be great." * Angie grabs the lifeline with one hand and the railing with the other. "I woke up early for this," she says in a low tone, "so it had better be TOTALLY AWESOME." * Trune also grabs onto some railing, "Anytime, Venus." [Venus] That's the spirit! The light of justice will guide you there! Hold on tight! * Saki grits her teeth again, readying for an expected wave of nausea. The light begins to shift in strength and power and a glowing burst washes over the party grasping the emergency rails. * Vytor shuts his eyes tight, realizing that Emiria is probably freaking out right about now. A few more follow it, growing in frequency, until the last one spiritually knocks you over into a brief oblivion of light -- the exact counterpoint to the dark room from before. Emiria yells out as she exits the command deck to protest, but it's drowned out in the aura. * Mikel closes his eyes, wincing. "...light of justic-" And kerpow. There's just this soft warm glow that surrounds you. You aren't sure where you are, or where everyone is. The deck is certainly beneath you, though. It never moves... or does it? * Saki lets out a strangled yelp as everything jolts to white, stopping either due to the movement or sheer terror. The all-encompassing glow begins to fade after awhile. The camera flash-effect begins to retreat with it. Almost nothing seems different... ocean... sailing... though some time has passed and its almost midday. * Vytor takes a peek as the intense light starts to die away Venus isn't around any longer, and light levels are normal. Off to the northwest of your position is the coastline of the colonies. I... * Trune takes a deep breath and nearly falls over as a sense of equallibrium finally returns, "Holy shit that was wild." ...holy goddess above. * Saki shivers bodily, panting hard; she's still clutching onto the railing, and is otherwise on her knees on the deck. It's very icy and rocky here, and a large island dominates the vista northwards. There upon a shore is a twinkling beam of light, sweeping out across the seas. It's eminating from an ancient lignthouse. Is that it? Must be. * Angie notices the chill immediately. She peels her hands off the rail (leaving a rope imprinted on her palm) and hugs herself, rubbing her arms. "That was cool," she says, and immediately vanishes back below decks. Emiria meanwhile is worse off than Saki... she's laid out on the deck, unconscious. ...hey wait! I gotta thank Venus! I just realized...we don't have to go to New Meribia now! This is great! * Vytor suddenly remembers Emiria, and goes to check on her. ANgie imemdiately notices the engines have reduced power automatically due to destabilizing trends in the core reactor. Their speed is vastly reduced. Emiria does not appear to be hurt badly, just completely overwhelmed and passed out. Shiro is running around confused, hitting into things and blinded x_X * Angie pops her head out again a moment later, waving enthusiastically at Vytor. "Hey," she says, "you might want to have a look at this." Before he can inquire further the head dips back into the darkness below. [Leah] Did it really work..? Well, we're certainly someplace a lot colder. I think it did. * Saki opts for staring blankly at the deck for a while, not taking her hand off the metal pipe. * Vytor realizes what Angie means, sets Emiria back down gently, then races for the reactor. I never thought I'd see something quite like that... * Trune blinks, and seeming speaks to no one, "Don't worry. We'll be there soon. I'm up for the challenge!" * Mikel ...goes to pick up Shiro before he runs himself overboard. The Ice Mongrel whimpers once and slips out of Mikel's grasp, runnign below decks to Niri's quarters. If she didn't get awoken by the flash, he certainly will rouse her. And so in a flash, the final test of the sentient weapons lies ahead! But what else could the light of truth uncover within these heroes...? == SESSION END == Session Close: Sat Mar 17 23:48:40 2007
