Session Start: Fri Sep 29 22:17:38 2006 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging #lunar-iog2 to 'logs\#lunar-iog2.log' * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 28: Smelting Pot | Location: Vulcannon Lab Complex | Pools: 3361 §, 16 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' == SESSION START == Morning comes over the Vulcannon Labs complex, the events of the previous night having faded into blissful sleep, made even better by the ceasing of the tremors. Unlike the weary group, the scientist Emiria works through the entire night unceasingly on the combat suit, eventually falling into an exhausted nap on her worktable... though the majority of the overhaul is miraculous done! For Vytor and the others, the remidner of an important morning meeting rings in your heads as you prepare to face the day. * Vytor is up reasonably early, curious as to Chrissy's intentions, but nonetheless looking forward to the day's presentation * Saki looks sorely tempted to trash the little alarm bot as she stumbles out of the room she was assigned; short on sleep and still feeling distinctly out of place in the technological surround, her mood is quite black. Anyone nearby gets a grumpy 'mrgh.' of a hello. * Trune is in a similar state as Emiria. His crumpled notes are spread out over a small table in his room, and Trune himself is hunched over it asleep. * Ryllan has been pacing restlessly for a while now, in the early morning, at times speaking softly to himself. * Mikel lets out a yawn as he walks down the hall, glancing around to see who else has managed to haul themselves out of bed. * Vytor offers a hearty 'good morning' to people as passes Niri is apparently sound asleep in her room. * Angie drags herself out of bed reluctantly; she was up far too late poking around the labs, fiddling around with her would-be bazooka and annotating the reactor manual. * Tanan wanders out of his room, looking a little annoyed and massaging his arm. Uhgh. *She rubs her eyes with her fist, shoving her glasses out of the way* Trune beat me, I think. * Saki sits at a table in a common area, stares dully at the surface for a moment, then slumps out along it, a manner more reminiscent of a sulky teenager. Man, everyone seems out of it this morning. Can't blame them, Vyt. * Mikel waves a hand. "I just woke up. Gimme a bit." He looks at Angie, tilting his head. "Eh?" * Ryllan pauses, then knocks loudly on Trune's door. Morning, guys. Anyone know a good way to wake your arm up? Slept on it all night, I guess. Leah yawns loudly, looking at the sleeping Shiro and then giving him a little kick, resulting in a "barooooo" that fills the haallway. * Mikel points a finger at it. "I can give it a wakeup shock if ya want." Does that work? * Trune starts slightly and lets out a sleepy half snort, "Huzhwhat?" "Maybe." * Mikel grins. Wake up, Trune! Important meeting, remember? When I'm having trouble waking up, I find coffee is good. Speaking of which, I don't smell any! This needs to be remedied. * Saki decides to add something intelligent to the discussion. "Mrgh," she says from under her hair. Mmmm.. I think I'll take my chances with just letting it wake up on its own. * Trune blinks, rubbing his eyes. He then glances down at the table and his notes before he becomes more aware of his surrondings, "Oh! Right! Okay, gimme a few." * Mikel lets out a sigh of long suffering, lowering his hand. "One day I'll get to test that." * Trune then mumbles a less audiable, "fuck!" and then there is the sound of papers being hastily put away. Sometime when we don't have a big meeting, maybe. I doubt it'd impress if my arm was flapping all over. * Angie snickers at Trune. Her eyes are half-lidded and she's stumbling as much as walking, so she looks a little baked. "How late were you up, finally?" * Vytor leans against the wall, watching and listening to the shenanigans of his friends with some amusement * Trune opens the door, nearly bowling into Angie, "Oh god...two maybe? Maybe it was three. I dunno. Eitherway it was obscenely late." Also, you talk REALLY loud Angie considering I could hear you THROUGH MY DOOR. Oh goddess, I need coffee. * Saki is apparently on strike. * Angie swats halfheartedly at Trune. "You just have really good hearing is what it is." Coffee. Yes. Bah, I go by my first assessment. * Mikel lets out another yawn, looking around. "Surprised something hasn't just zapped coffee in here or something." * Angie hauls out a chair at the main table and collapses into it, leaning heavily on her hand. "We could try making some in a silver forge." I wouldn't recommend it Making coffee in a silver forge? That'd be some heavy coffee. That is disgusting, Angie. Let's try it. * Tanan looks around. "Who do you think we should try to foist it off on though?" For science. "The professor, cleary." * Angie prods the crown Saki's head with her finger. "Saki looks like she could use a pick-me-up." * Mikel shakes his head. "She'll kill us with it." Why do I find this mental image so, so funny? * Saki lets her head rock. "Mph," she replies from behind her crossed arms, then tries to pull herself up to some semblance of sitting, blinking twice in the light. "You haven't realized you'd die by a coffee mug yet?" Saki's just recovering from yesterday's events. Well, yeah I guess. That's such a bizzare way to die. Death by Java. * Angie leans over until she's almost lying on the table herself and traces a circle on the tabletop with her fingernail. "There was this guy in New Takkar -- maybe still, for all I know -- who ate silver, like, as it was. He was blue." How blue? * Vytor raises an eyebrow at Angie * Saki frowns at Vytor, blinking again as she gets up to speed, then shaking her head just a little. "... too much mechanics around. I don't like it much; had a hard time sleeping." Another faint frown and she's idly scratching a temple. "Call me a traditionalist." * Angie looks exhausted by the prospect of explaining exactly how blue. "Like...one of those cats that's sort of blue but not really blue?" That's weird. Must not have been pure silver. * Trune snrks to himself, though it's unclear why. I've heard of kids swallowing coins and rings and stuff and they've been fine I dunno. He said it was, but he was pretty weird. We could go back and ask. Or was he not blue from the silver? * Tanan frowns. "Maybe you just have to eat a lot? Yeah, I'd like to talk to this guy someday." Well, I assumed he was blue from the silver. I guess he could just have been blue. I didn't know him WELL. Or maybe she did it. Er... * Trune suddenly looks a little flustered and coughs, "Right, didn't we have a meeting to get to? Chop chop, people!" Actually, we're waiting for Chrissy to come by Try again, Trune! Er...oh yeah! Of course I knew this! Right! * Angie pushes herself up on her arms and cups her chin in both hands, staring across the table at Saki. "Is this going to be a foody meeting? Because I should probably eat something first otherwise." I don't know about food, so I'd grab some if I were you. * Saki blinks, and makes a sour face - again - as she waves a hand. "I can't figure out my way around this place." * Mikel shrugs. "No clue. Food would be good, though." Follow me, I'll show you the commisary * Vytor heads in the indicated direction I'm with Saki on this one. This place is so... * Mikel follows the smith on the path to delicious enlightment. * Saki gets to her feet, ambling after Vytor. * Angie musters her energy to stand up and follow. Leah scoops up her chilly, two tailed mutt and follows along as well. Bizzare? Disorenting?...Flashy? Today's going to eb a good day for food. We have the third shift working today. They can make decent chow. ...cold and dead? * Trune frowns, "Actually, that too." No. Just.. unliving? I don't know. I was more comfortable at the church, to be honest. Vytor leads you downstairs one level to the food court/commissary! It is a combination of several specialty eateries, a communal food kitchen and a supermarket. You didn't have to listen to this lady play the organ for 12 hours straight....and she was awful. She wasn't that bad, Trune. She played with such... /longing/. I was kind of wondering when she would get up and...oh, I don't know...pee like a normal person? She wasn't human, I tell you! Maybe she was a robot. You know, like she longed to hear the song she was trying to play. * Vytor heads to the grill, hoping for something substantial today. She longed to hear it because she could not play it to save her life. Basically, yeah. Hey now. * Mikel glances around the the food court, already beginning to wake up at the prospect of food. It doesn't take long for him to wander off to begin gathering a nice breakfast. Today's special at the grill is a pretty mammoth slab of bacon, eggs, also some steaks in bagel sandwiches. Ooh, bacon. * Vytor grabs a tray and loads up * Trune grabs a tray as well, grabbing some eggs and bacon and a large cup of coffee. * Angie regains her vitality as she travels the length of the food court assembling a mighty breakfast. Not too bad today. The bacon's cripsy for a change. * Tanan grabs some food as well, adding a little extra bacon when Vytor speaks. As you grab some chow, one of the company employees finds a seat at a table not far away, looking at his watch and scanning the dining room area. * Saki stares at it all, just a little dully. "... more brown," she puts forth, then ventures a variety of the healthier offerings. * Mikel wanders about from one part to the next, his own tray starting to look like some freakish mountain of breakfast foods. * Trune then nabs a bottle of hot sauce and slathers some on his eggs. Saki finds plenty of caterers that deal in fresh produce and pre-made boxed salads, along with a bar to craft her own. * Vytor grabs a seat and chows down * Ryllan settles in at the table, not grabbing any food. * Angie sets her laden tray down, walks over to Trune, and thrusts her hand over at the bottle of hot sauce, wiggling her fingers. "Giiive." * Trune grins and wags a finger, "Manners, young lady. Whatcha say?" The man gets up from his place and wanders over to Vytor. "Excuse me..." I say "give!" and I already said it. * Mikel winds his way back to the others, setting down his rather full tray down as well. "Favorite meal of the day, right here." With that he begins to make a dent in said mountain of food. * Saki plunks herself down and starts to eat something rather distressingly green; she cocks an eye at the visitor, looking past the deathly fight taking place. * Trune hands it to Angie, "You are lucky I am such a delighfully pleasant gent." * Tanan eats bacon, looking pleased. * Vytor swallows a very large mouthful of food, thumps his chest a few times to work everything down, and then response, "Yes?" [Employee] You're Mr. Dunbar aren't you? Yes, I am * Trune works into digging into his food, finally starting to wake up a little. He swallows, "Not bad eggs, there." * Angie snaps up the hot sauce with a triumphant flourish and liberally sprinkles it on her food before sliding it back. * Mikel finishes off a rather big bit of bacon, grinning. "Bacon's better." * Trune blinks and takes a bite of the bacon, nodding, "Okay yeah. It is. Oh, word to the wise when Niri wakes up, steal her bacon. She likes it." {Employee] Ah, good good. I was sent to find you. the CEO's waiting for you down in bay C... and the look on her face was like when she has a really crazy idea. I'd hurry down there to R&D and see what it is about. * Vytor nods, and moves to return his partly empty tray. "Duty call. Seeya guys at the demonstration I hope." * Mikel eyes Trune. "Uh-huh." Dead serious! * Vytor heads off to bay C while the group finishes breakfast Don't have too much fun without us. A little is ok though * Rune (~kazyr@pool-71-105-72-239.lsanca.dsl-w.verizon.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Rune «ooc: ! :O Ruuuunnnee! » << woah >> << always nice to have you Rune ^_^ >> [Employee] Everyone else, please come to the conference room on this floor when you're ready. But don't take too long... Ms. Vulcannon has something to show you all, along with the industry reps. Got it. * Angie beams back. "I have a thing or two to show her, too," she says. The man bows his head a moment and escorts Vytor to get prepared. * Saki sits back and dully watches the table as she gets to the serious business of food; she's vaguely paying attention but also off in her own world. * Angie looks over the top of her glasses at Saki. "You OK?" she asks with a touch of concern. * Saki blinks up and nods curtly. "Could just use a rest back home." * Trune pokes at his eggs a little at Saki's words, "Nice you've got one." * Angie looks down at her plate and stirs her food with the end of the fork. "Yeah, I know the feeling. S'a trouble with being on the road all the time." * Saki frowns slightly at mid-air, finishes her meal, and goes to put things away, tapping Trune lightly on the shoulder as she does and shrugging lopsidedly. "Only because I was given it when I got to Meribia." Then she's off, offering the cutlery and bowls to a counter. * Mikel glances up from his half conquered breakfast. "Something to show us? Huh." I like things. Especially scienbce things. * Angie is losing the breakfast race, though she's still well ahead of Mikel. Why do I have this odd feeling that whatever we get shown is somehow going to lead to us getting sent somewhere to be lit on fire or... what else is left? Blinded? Because it probably will? Huh! I guess that's a pretty good reason. * Mikel swallows a nice chunk of pancake with the help of some milk, glancing at Trune and Tanan. "It's too soon to do either. We already almost got buried alive." It's never too soon to be maimed. There's a time quota on that? It's on a four day cooldown. Blindness is pretty easy to cure, actually. I mean, the magic kind, not, like, for-real blindness. <<...sorry. Kill that.>> << Hahahahahahah >> «ooc: awww. » << hehe >> «ooc: :D » <> Some time passes in conversation as everyone's plates are cleaned. Soon a tiny Zeta sentry arrives and beeps at you, obviously to follow it to the big event! Dutifully falling behind the flying bot, it leads you to the back room of a rather packed room, filled with lots of camera and a small stage. Upon it is Chrissy herself, behind a podium with Vytor and several other assistants. The rows in front of you are filled with a motley crew of what looks like professional trade advisors and other Experts from various fields and points of origin. * Saki raises an eyebrow, frowning at the sight and muttering under her breath. "... nice crowd..." She finds a nice spot in a corner to lurk and watch. Up on the stage, the helpers are setting up something vieled with a silken sheet, as a little light beam projector fires up and spits out pictures on a white screen. (w) And once again Chrissy stokes her ego... * Angie goes to inspect the camera, but she's shooed away by the techs and reluctantly takes a seat. * Mikel glances around, letting out a whistle. "Looots of people..." * Tanan keeps his voice low. "Drat. This is way more formal than I expected. Shouldn't have smuggled in this bacon." [Chrissy] ...and as you'll see here, we've had such great success with the first and second model forges, that we've poured more dollars into R&D, to address the concerns that stationary models were not enough to meet rising demand and economic realities... (q) Stationary models? * Mikel glances at Tanan, replying in the same tone. "Only way to save yourself is to destroy the evidence, then." * Tanan smiles faintly. "You underestimate my pockets." The owner and general manager points at some specs with a long telescoping baton. "The result, as you can see from this diamgram, is a third series silver achlemy center that is small enough to be vehicle portable, but still produce 3/4 of the output of a containment field of a full scale model! There is a few mumblings from the assembled spectators. Oh my, I bet Vytor is going apeshit right now. "That's impossible!" "Could they really have done it?" * Saki raises her eyebrows; she at least knows enough that this is good news. Chrissy gives a short whistle, signally to Vytor and the others to unveil her masterpiece * Vytor does so, on cue * Angie leans forward and adjusts her glasses, peering intently at the diagram and regretting taking a seat so far back. * Mikel shrugs. "Your loss." He then turns to the actual show, grinning. "He probably did when he found out they had it finished." Vehicular... oh my. I think I see her plan. [Chrissy] Ladies and gentlemen of the Colonies, I present to you, the Porta-Forge DX©! * Tanan blinks a few times, then shrugs a little * Mikel glances at Ryllan. "...if it is what I think it is, I hope they've made sure it doesn't randomly explode or something." As the sheet is pulled away, securely fastended to a table and powered by a high-cycle generator, is a fully functional silver forge, filled with the purest grade A material and humming along proudly. It is sleek and the many familiar components substantially miniaturized. << or rather the Porta-Forge© DX :) >> Well, it certainly looks shiny. * Tanan looks around at everyone. "It's smaller. ...should we be impressed? I'm confused." [Merchant Guild Rep] Well it certainly LOOKs impressive. But does it live up to the hype? [Chrissy] Oh ye of litle faith! Vyotr, if you would be so kind as to give these people a demonstration? * Vytor steps forward, looking excited yet professional, "I'd be happy to." * Vytor steps up to the forge, and adjusts the field in preparation for his work * Angie kicks Tanan's foot. * Tanan winces As you are all aware of the capabilities of the Alchemical FOrge, I won't go into a detailed explanation of its capabilities. I will say this, recent developments in containment and compression allows the material storage unit to be 50% small, yet retain the same capacity as a general-purpose model. <<50% smaller>> Now, I will demonstrate its use to you, to prove that even a portable version is a capable as a standard forge. Tanan, 50 silver says she gives one to us. for 'testing'. * Mikel smirks, leaning back in his seat. * Angie glares at Ryllan and hisses, "Shh!" She pauses for a beat, then asks, "Do you think so?" her eyes all aglitter at the prospect. Let's hope so, actually. It'd be rather handy. * Ryllan raises eyebrows at Angie, "You want in?" * Vytor hefts his hammer, and opens the containment iris Hmm * Vytor begins to draw out the molten silver into the containment field, and starts to manipulate it as he's done so many times before [Archaelogy Expert] Hmm... Rather than manipulating the silver directly within the heating element, the new containment field parameters allows us to draw out the silver we intend to use, and manipulate it directly within the field itself. There's a reporter for the Meribian herald scribbling furiously, as well as even a Hylan Adept or two. * Vytor begins to draws his hammer in and out of the goop, shaping it with both physical effort and bursts of willforce. * Saki watches calmly now, her brain apparently ticking on idle. True to Vytor's description, the field itself generates the space required for the shaping, not limited to the physical size of the unit as before. As you can see, I can manipulate the size of the field on the fly, so my size limitisn't as limited as it once was * Vytor continues his efforts, the irregular blob of his work growing larger. Session Time: Sat Sep 30 00:00:00 2006 Chrissy grins with glee, held in check only by the fact she has to remain professional in front of the crowd gathered. Also, this new version can contain and collapse the leftover forge heat when the field is collapsed without damaging the unit. This reduced cooldown time by 30% over previous models. * Vytor has managed to produce a man-sized blob of silver, and shaes off the excess silver from his hammer. Dr. Sonyele is also in the background, rubbing her chin as the show goes on. She elbows an old comrade of hers from Raculi, and the two quietly chat about the possibilities. Not far away a Blacklace Co. observer looks intrigued at the business propects for new engines... Once the initial pass is completed, I can return the unused silver back into the material storage unit, as so. * Vytor steps on a button along the base, and the pooled silver the bottom of the field swirls back into the containment pod. That done, I can finish my work, as so... * Vytor slams his hammer one last time into the silvery blob, producing the sound of a ringing gong. The shell of the blob drops away, revealing a scaled-down model of the very mechanical robot held in the repair bay that has dominated Emiria's attention for so long. Chrissy quirks an eyebrow at his choice. But oh, what detail! The crowd is also summarily impressed. * Vytor steps on the same button, and the remaining excess swirls away once again. Pointing his hammer again at his newly made silver statue, he moves it out from the containment field, where the heat bleeds out of the statue, hardening it into solid metal. * Vytor gently sets the statue down, and steps on the containment field button, making the field collapse into itself and back into the forge, closing the iris behind it. [Hylan Adept] I say, and when does this go into production? * Vytor steps away from the statue, and returns the stage to Chrissy with a nod. [Chrissy] We only have a few prototypes, but production runs should begin within the next 3 months, if testing goes well. [Merchant Guilder] Amazing as it is, are you sure the world is ready for this? It will turn the economy on its ear! [Archaelogy expert] For the small exploration teams, this could be a godsend. Much less of a footprint we need to maintain at dig sites. * Mikel listens to the idle chitchat. "Sounds like a hit." [Meribian Herald Reporter] I can see the headlines....!!! ...any of you guys know what happens if the containment field breaks? "...not off hand." Chrissy seems to hear Tanan's question, looking towards the rear of the room. Uh oh, now you've done it, Tanan. * Tanan winces again If I may? * TheStoryteller nods once to her faithful employee. << er >> Chrissy nods once to her faithful employee. Should the containment field be breached, the unit is designed to detect the breach, and the system goes into emergency mode. When that happens, the system immediately opens all conduits and siphons the contents of the field back into the containment pod. This includes the heat within the field. While this mean that what you had been working on will be ruined, it will prevent a catastrophic release of heat and molten metal. * Tanan nods, looking satisfied with the answer * Angie waves her hand. * Vytor points at Angie, "Yes?" (m) Wonder what happens if the detection fails. Two questions! First of all, what happens with the containment pod in that instance? Does it equalize eventually? * Tanan nods, keeping his voice low. "Or the emergency mode. I'm wondering if we could roll one of these things up to the prophetess and detonate it or something" A good question. The containment field is capable of self adjustment over time. It itself is designed to withstand temperatures 3 times what the forge can actually produce on its own. This was of coruse for safety reasons. * Angie nods enthusiastically and then launches into her second question. "Okay! Also: obviously some of these changes will reduce the power required, but I'm wondering how much. What kind of energy does this require to run?" * Saki looks utterly lost at this juncture, and decides to just leave people to it. Another good question. A standard-issue forge requires 428 megajoules of energy to operate. This model is more efficiently, needing only 320 megajoules. Moreover, this model can be powered by a standard mid-grade Lovelace engine. * Angie raises her brow and sits back, clearly impressed. In this case, this forge here could be hooked up to a vehicular engine of at least 200 cid, it will operate quite nicely. [Blacklace Co Rep] Haha, integrating it with a vehicle's power systems is amazing. Real no hassle. There will be no production run changes needed to accomidate this then? This unit was specifically designed to require no retooling to integrate into existing technologies. No specialized tools or parts needed. [Chrissy] Nope. In fact, to show the feasibility of this... I've got a special surprise for some of you out there. * Mikel hums. * TheStoryteller snaps her fingers again, this time, catching Vytor a bit by surprise. A side wall slides open and in drives the Destiny Land Cruiser . o_O << er >> Chrissy snaps her fingers again, this time, catching Vytor a bit by surprise. A side wall slides open and in drives the Destiny Land Cruiser . o_O * Vytor grins * Tanan looks around sharply to make sure Mikel, Trune, and Niri are all visible. * Mikel gives Tanan a glare. * Trune glances back at Tanan, "Oh geez, c'mon. I have self-control!" Something's very different about it though! Not only has the frame been hardened and completely replaced, but the engine block is larger and in the expanded cargo space now rests a Porta-Forge, encased in a weather-reasistant covering! Oooh sweet, we /do/ get one! * Angie squeaks and claps her hands. I mean, I didn't understand half of that crap just spewed but it's still good! The whole room claps * Saki raises a bewildered eyebrow. In the absence of knowledge she leans over in the party's direction. "... is that good?" I told you. Oh yeah. S'good. [Chrissy] Come on up, heroes! This brave band of adventurers I'm sure you've heard about... they've been selected to field test the program! [Leah] Oh wow, we're /famous/! (q) Brilliant. We get to be part of the publicity stunt. * Vytor applauds and encourages his friends to come on up * Tanan sighs, muttering. "I vote we just leave. Right now. Out the back door." (q) Well, let's not be ungracious guests [Meribian Herald Reporter] Oh, it's those Truth seekers or whatever it was. Staring fate in the face with no fear! Oh maaaan.. [Archaelogy Expert] Hmm.. wasn't Hiro's daughetr with them? I don't see her... * Trune sighs and trudges up to the stage. * Saki gives Vytor an almost forlorn look, and starts trudging her way up; she's almost back into frightened little mongoose mode, but is weathering the glances with a minimum of skitter, for once. * Angie springs up, entirely pleased with this turn of events. She poses for the crowd as she descends to the stage, where she hugs Chrissy. It's hard to tell if that's part of the show or not. * Tanan stands up and follows the others up, clearly displeased and grumbling. Chrissy hugs the fellow techie enthusiast, taking the microphone again. * Vytor grins at people as they take to the stage * Angie extricates herself, turns around and waves to the crowd. [Chrissy] Working together, I'm sure we'll be able to pioneer a bright new future for the continent. All thanks to human ingenuity and the name you trust in modern technology. * Tanan glares at Vytor and Chrissy before composing himself and turning around to face the crowd * Ryllan promises Death to chrissy with a glance, then turns to smile at the crowd. * Mikel chuckles as the others' reaction as he makes his way up with them, giving the crowd a grin as well. [Chrissy] So keep tuned to our newsletter for the results! And of course wish our friends well as they journey into the rugged West Coast. Now that's a great stress test if I ever saw one, eh? * Trune smiles at the crowd, but deep inside he'd much rather be somewhere else that's less akward. * Vytor leans over to Tanan and whispers, "I had no idea she was going to do that, honest." * Saki doesn't smile at the crowd; she glares, instead, for good measure. * Tanan tries to reply quietly without moving his mouth. "I'll kill her." * Mikel lightly elbows Saki. The crowd dutifully claps, as a few mutter about Chrissy's style of presentation. Sonyele sighs once, happy it's a success at least. With that, a few usher-bots appear and start to funnel everyone but the VIPs outside. * Angie hops from one foot to the other. Wasn't she tired earlier? Well, that wasn't too bad. For me at least. * Ryllan eyebrows, "Mighta warned us we were going to be part of a publicity stunt. Chrissy whews, rubbing her forehead with a hankey. Hrmph. Yeah, really. I don't appreciate being used like that. Don't blame me for that. I wsn't told. That's so awesome! I can't believe you're giving us one. I want to use it like right now. * Saki swivels on the spot, turning a blank Look upon Chrissy. [Chrissy] Hey, hey... no hard feelings. It's a prettys wete deal, don't you agree? << sweet >> Well... I have to agree with that. * Tanan looks to see if everyone's cleared out * Trune smiles fades and he looks grousey. * Mikel glances at the Destiny, remaining quiet for now. Don't mind these guys. They don't really "get" it. Besides, the repaired Destiny and protable forge are two things we need right now. The real question is... [Chrissy] You're free to experiment with it as much as you like. This needs to be tested under all sorts of conditions and pressures * Tanan looks at the forge. "Could it be rigged to lose the field and not go into emergency mode?" Hey, screw you! We're not blowing it up. [Chrissy] You could bypass it.... but could you try to avoid prposesly destroying this multi-million silver piece of equipment? (w) And he whines about us driving the Destiny and he wants to blow that thing up? Sheesh. That depends on how big a blast it would make. If we could roll one of these up next to the Prophetess, maybe...? We could turn her skin blue! Or kill her. One of the two. [Chrissy] Not that I don't mind a good dramatic explosion now and then, but something tells me it's not going to make a huge dent in her if everything else hasn't worked so far. That's if she even ate the silver, which would be kind of moot since she'd be blown to bits. Nevermind. * Mikel nods towards Trune, pondering. "...man, I'm never going to get to drive now that something expensive is attached to it." [Chrissy] Oh, another thing! * Tanan frowns. "Well.. maybe. It still might be worth a shot as a last-ditch thing. Just a thought." [Chrissy] Mikel, you'll be happy to note that I've upgraded the suspension as well as the cylinders to produce and distribute more torque over a wider skidpad. This should increase traction substantially over the rugged terrain out west! Good to hear. * Tanan mouths the words 'torque' and 'skidpad' [Chrissy] Take good care of her, and she'll take good care of you. Jack's hopes are riding on this bucket of silver bolts. * Tanan looks confused for a moment or two * Mikel gets one of those nice big grins. If you have a moment, I actually have something I'd like to show /you/, Chrissy. * Saki sighs, and scratches at her temple. "... mm. Can't say much when you put it that way..." [Chrissy] And, as a little thank you present from everyone, the forge comes equipped with 10,000 silver to play with! * Mikel glances at the others. "Please tell me you'll let me drive at least /some/ of the way." * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 28: Smelting Pot | Location: Vulcannon Lab Complex | Pools: 13361 §, 16 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/' Wow, thanks Chrissy. Chrissy laughs once. "I'm the best aren't I? No need to thank me, really." Nice, thanks! Mmm.. thank you, though I don't think we did a whole lot worth being thanked for. No, Mikel No we won't. And thanks, Dr. Vulcannon. [Chrissy] Remember, anything you find is a potential source of raw silver. melt down whatever junk you don't need and turn it into sueful stuff. << er useful >> That'll be handy. No waste along the way. [Chrissy] And as for you Angie, could you step into my office? * Angie grins. "I could indeed." * Vytor goes to check out the repaired Destiny [Chrissy] *nods* As for the rest, just kick back and take your time. There's no rush to leave, though that holographic robot doctor... Webbly?... seemed to be worried about that 'Mars" weapon out there . Yeah. We should probably get on that soon. [Chrissy] And who knows, there is plenty of things to unearth! Tell me if you find something neat, eh? << er there are >> * Mikel inches over towards the Destiny. The Destiny is so shiny and even re-painted. *_* * Saki sighs after gritting her teeth for a moment. "Ugh. Mars too. We need some time to find answers without things cropping up." I doubt that'll happen. It'd be nice though Damn those things, always causing trouble. We'll need to figure out what to do next. We've got a log of leads [Leah] I wonder if Mars will be all crazy. Yes, Leah. Yes she will. Not only is she's an elementalor, she's female. It's a guarant-... ...dammit, did I say that out loud * Mikel snickers. * Saki just Looks. * Trune snickers as well. "You're going to have to check your food for poison now." * Tanan sighs. "Bread and water, here I come." Leah blinks then deadpans at Tanan. Do you set out ot alienate everyone, Tanan, or is it just natural talent? No, it just sort of happens. Tanan still has friends s evidenced by Shiro nuzzling his leg supportively. * Tanan reaches down to scratch Shiro behind the ears. Leah looks hurt. "Hey, traitor!" :( * Angie folds her arms, suddenly dreadfully amused. "No, Tanan's right. We're crazy." She slides her eyes over to him, staring directly at him. "Really, really crazy." Hey now, no one ever said crazy was bad. * Mikel snickers. "I think he smells the bacon." It's not so much a matter of whether it's bad or not as of who it's bad /for/. * Tanan looks up from Shiro and sees Angie, then quickly takes an involuntary step back. * Tanan looks around, then shrugs. "Oh well. It'll save the elementalors the trouble of melting me, I guess." * Tanan sighs Wow, Tanan, you have mastered the art of backing yourself into a corner, eh? * Tanan pinches the bridge of his nose. "You have no idea." "Tell you what, Tanan. I'll drive you somewhere safe." There is no such place. * Tanan grins. "Eh. Everyone knows I'm kidding. Except maybe Leah. And Saki. And Angie. All I ask is that you kill me in my sleep so I don't know you're doing it." * Vytor runs his hands along the Destiny's side pannels, as he leans down to look at the newly designed suspension. Vytor finds everything to be filled with the superiors craftsmanship that the company is known for. Their vehicle has been born anew, reforged for the journey ahead. And in some ways, it's owners are changing as well, But will they be able to grow into their fame as heroes?
