Session Start: Fri Sep 01 22:46:51 2006 Session Ident: #lunar-iog2 * Logging #lunar-iog2 to 'logs\#lunar-iog2.log' * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 24: Silverado | Location: New Raculi | Pools: 3287 §, 6 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ ' == SESSION START == We last left or motley crew of adventurers as they prepared to depart the workshop of Dr. Sonyele in Raculi for Vulcannon HQ, not far to the west in the mountains. But before they can depart... * Etir is now known as Ysmsm * Ysmsm is now known as Tanan The wolf guard naturalist Angharad hangs back for a moment, not stepping into the Destiny. * Vytor is getting settled into the Destiny's cargo bay, but notices Angharad's hesitation [Angharad] I'm sorry everyone. Now that the crop situation is under control, I don't have any reason to keep going west. Dr. Brandt needs to know everything that's happened up till now. * Angie shows a flicker of surprise, but she overcomes it quickly, nodding in understanding. "If you're sure. But you know, we'll be heading back that way eventually, and you'd get to have a poke around the labs." You sure? Bound to be ex---actually, nervermind, you're probably the smartest one out of the bunch, escaping gothic death and all. ... Alright, fair enough. * Ryllan extends a hand to Angh, "Good luck." If that's what you need to do Angharad. But don't be surprised if we run into you again. * Saki tilts her head a little from her perch in the back of the Destiny. "... mm. Contact us if anything happens, though." [Angharad] They need me back at The Dig with the other biologists. If you pass by, you know where I'll be. Angharad slings her large weapon over her shoulder and nods to everyone once, waving and then slowly walking off back in the direction of town. Bye Angharad! * Mikel shifts a bit in the seat, glancing at Angharad. He offers her a nod in return, waving. "Best of luck." * Tanan shakes his head. "Be careful." [Dr. Sonyele] Hrm. Interesting. DR Brandt's helper? He's a well known expert... Yep. * Angie waves halfheartedly as she watches Angharad walk away. "She kind of pisses me off," she confides in a low voice. "I think she's pretty smart, though." She's the social butterfly of the group. I dunno how we're gonna function. *cough* Seriously though, hope she's okay. As much as she wants to keep out of this whole thing, I don't think it's possible anymore. I can quit any time I want to. * Vytor thumps the roof of the destiny with his hand, "Let's get this thing moving while it still can." Shiro looks sad as the furry wolf guard leaves. :( * Saki makes a non-committal noise; it could be assent or dissent. After a moment's thought she shakes her head. * Mikel glances at Angie, grinning. "Doesn't make for a good story." Niri and Leah wave farewell to their cmpanion, hoping they'll meet again soon. Yeah, it wouldn't do for the heroine to leave in the middle of the epic tale. * Angie shrugs, eyes wandering. "I could make something up." * Ryllan clambers into the driver's seat of the Destiny, "Obviously she has to go to help her hometown or something." Mmm. * Trune heads up into the Destiny as well, taking one of the window seats, "Making up something isn't quite the same as doing it." * Saki knocks - not hard - on the roof of the cab. "It doesn't matter; no point in forcing someone," she adds quietly. "We've an appointment to keep." * Mikel chuckles, leaning back and closing his eyes. "True." He opens one eye at the knock, grinning. "If you want, Saki, I could drive and get us there faster." You're right: it's easier! *Seeing that she's fighting a pitched, battle, she aims for a topic change. She boots the underside of the driver's seat.* Let's get going! * Ryllan chuckles, "If you can't keep from kicking the driver, you can be lashed down like any other cargo." VROOM * Angie snorts. " «ooc: nuke » Mikel, if he lets you drive the Destiny ever again, I'll dance on the top of the the thing and do the pickled egg trick for headaches that never works. * Angie snorts. "Don't be a wuss, you've got seat cushion between you and kicking. That's like butt-armor." * Vytor settle in as the Destiny starts moving, his mind elsewhere. "Is that so? I think I'll be able to drive pretty soon just so people can see that." VROOM indeed! The Destiny sputters a moment as the frame creaks, but it spurrs into drive, the motor running well. Off onto the dusty trail you go! Well, she didn't fall apart at least. * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 24: Silverado | Location: Raculi to Vulcannon Trail | Pools: 3287 §, 6 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ ' I'd pay to see that too, honestly. Maybe we can get Niri to do it. I'm kind of surprised. This thing's sturdy [Dr. Sonyele] Yes, it's built to withstand many types of impact. Let's see if we can try them all! You heard her, Mikel! Let's go! * Tanan makes a sharp hand motion. "Vetoed!" [Dr. Sonyele] Although this modified version does have more stress on the chassis and... 8suddenly urks as Angie says that* ^^; Aw, geez. No sense of fun. * Vytor snaps out of his thoughts at Angie's sugestion o_O * Mikel closes his eye again, chuckling. "You can stay off while we do it then, Tanan." [Leah] Sounds like fun! ...but maybe we shouldn't break it again. Can we wait to test the Destony's crash-test rating AFTER we save the world? Find your own vehicle to wreck! We need this one to work * Saki sits back and meditates on the cargo bed. Possibly. Could just be napping; she looks, after a morning of heavy lifting and a few days of trauma, like she's the thing the Destiny ran into. "Maybe I can get one from the Labs..." * Angie snickers. "I always thought it would be neat to be one of those engineers who busts stuff for stress testing." Her eyes wander momentarily. "Well, maybe not ALWAYS, but...sometimes." * Vytor leans back again, returning his thoughts to the alchemical advancements at Volcanon Labs he's hoping to see. Man, Mikel, I was half kidding about the whole 'crash the Destiny' scenario. You really planning on crashing another one? "Hey, the crash was an accident." Ah, I see...but it awakened a deep, dark part of you. The part of you that hungers for something to...uh...smash real good. "...don't ever take up story telling." Psh, yeah. [Dr. Sonyele] *rolls eyes* quality assurance testing is always looking for help. Sadly, it's not to be. I'm married to the sea, and all that. * Mikel waves a hand. "Is it because safety features tend to give out during testing?" That must have been an interesting ceremony If it spits up a starfish that counts as saying 'I do', and if it knocks over your sandcastle that's the equivalent of running from the altar? [Dr. Sonyele] ..that's why we also have a great medical plan. Must have great dental too with all the teeth you're surely gonna lose with all that testing. Nice deal. As you chat you notice the terrain getting rather hilly, as the farmlands fade from view now. The abundance of wild brudh here reminds you that you have crossed into unterraformed wilderness. << er brush >> * Angie punches Tanan's headrest lightly. "He doesn't really stand on ceremony. He's a rough guy and he likes rough girls." She grins into the rear-view mirror. Welcome to ye vasty wild, ladies and gentlemen. * Mikel adopts a contemplative look. "Should I comment or do you want to field this one, Trune?" * Tanan shakes his head. "And I've always heard sailors refer to the ocean as a she. I never knew it was into that crossdressing stuff." If it were not for the constant traffic from the Lab complex eastward, the trail would have definitely been grown over by the tall grasslands. Heh, nah, go for it Mikel. * Angie takes the flippant comment seriously, lapsing into thought. A full minute later, once the conversation has long since moved on, she pipes up again. "I guess nature can be male or female, depending! Don't you think?" "Tanan ruined the chance, sadly." * Saki makes a sudden, startled yelp from the back of the Destiny as a wheel catches a pothole and her body gets bounced across the bay; next moment she's somewhat visible via a rearview mirror, muttering a long streak and clutching her head. Yeah, now I'm going to think of the sea in a frilly dress with a beard. Thanks a /lot/, Tanan. Here and there you catch some wild horses grazing, and a pack of nimble plainsrunners flee from the noisy conmtraption. * Vytor looks over at Saki, "You OK?" I think this metaphor has gotten out of hand. Last time I saw someone in a frilly dress with a beard was one time too many "...was this in one of your classes?" Better hang on up there, Saki! * Tanan nods. "While I was still a student. Someone made a really stupid bet." Oh wow, I want to hear THIS one. * Saki mutters and curses and winces a bit; apparently poking a bump on her head for damage, and satisfied she's not bleeding, the arm is then hooked around a rail. "... nn. Guess I was asking for that. I'm fine." * Angie reaches up to catch her hat as the Destiny rolls over the pothole. She's a moment too late, and the hat tumbles to the floor. She picks it up, flicks the dirt off it, and sets it in her lap. * Tanan scratches his head. "Not sure what to say. Girl lost a bet, she had to wear a fake beard. I kinda ruined the story already." That...was rather dissapointing, yeah. The Destiny Land Cruiser hits a few bumps, the view in the distance to both sides beginning to show large rocky mountains that just up towards the sky, tiny bits of snow on their peaks. Rivers carve valleys and canyons through them, and the ground is certain places has an ashy texture, the wake of volcanic activity. Man, that's not much of a bet. I was hoping it'd be a guy in a dress. That our destination? In the general direction, yes * Trune coughs, "I was sort of hoping it was Tanan in a dress. Too much optimism You're into that sort of thing, Trune? Wha, no! It's just a hilarious mental picture. * Mikel cracks open an eye as a few more bumps jostle the Destiny. "...that's something I didn't need to know, Trune. Keep your fantasies private." He grins, admiring the landscape. Nnngh! I swear I totally fell into that! ...can I switch seats with someone further away from Trune? Please? "Take one for the team." The trails goes through a few rocky formation that apparently have been blasted away to keep the path straight and clear. * Trune grumbles and goes quiet for a while, looking out the window. * Saki is apparently bad at learning lessons today; all of two minutes later she's back up against the cab wall, listlessly watching landscape go past as things tick over in her head. She whistles lowly at the devastated rock. * Angie watches the blasted cliffsides roll by with a distant wonder. "Hey," she says, voice singsongy and far-off. "Maybe instead of going to far away places by sailing there, we could make a big hole to where they are." * Vytor looks at Angie as if she's grown a second head Do I dare comment? You mean a tunnel? Or teleporting? It is then that you begin to detect some smoke ahead of the vehicle, trailing across the sky from a large shiny smokestack that appears on the horizon. Slowly it creeps up as you make headway, revealing an entire complex built inside of a small reddish rock lined canyon. The former sounds like way too much work. And the latter winds up with all sorts of problems "Like teleporting yourself into a rock?" * Vytor perks up as signs of the Lab come into view * AmyAway is now known as Niri << hooray! >> A tunnel! See, like...ooh. * Saki blinks over one shoulder, then hauls herself up to her feet to watch the approach. As the trail runs up a slope, you get a good view of Vulcannon Labs. The building seems constructed almost entirely of shiny silver alloys, dusty from the winds that blow through here. Many pipes run from it into the groun upon which it rests, and not far away to the west is the sight of clouds of gas and water spouting up from geysers, further reminding you of the activity of this area just beneath the surface. * Niri jerks awake, having been lulled to sleep during the ride. I think that sometimes stuff gets left behind. Like.. they teleport a mannequin and it doesn't have a leg when it shows up or something. Or it's in the wrong place. I know people've been experimenting with it, but... I wouldn't want to guinea pig it. * Mikel ...winces. "Leaving behind parts of yourself would suck." * Ryllan nods, "Splitting yourself in two? Baad idea." Maybe we can trick the Prophetess into leaving a leg behind. Or her head. That'd be inconvient I think teleporting would be fun! "She seems a bit more adept to magic period." * Niri rubs her eyes, trying to wake up a bit more. << to=with >> I'd rather take the extra time, in exchange for the assurance that we'd be there on time. * Angie stands up as much as the restraints will allow, looking over Tanan's head out the windshield. [Dr. Sonyele] Mayb one day we can invent a teleporting device, but it's just not possible. [Dr. Sonyele] With the current methods anyway. Even the oldtech we salvaged didn't have those capabilities. I think anything that can be done through magic will eventually be replicable without the need for direct human intervention or will. "Eh, half the fun of travelling is the trip." * Tanan looks up at Angie, then ducks down a little. "Yeah. Wonder if anyone's talked to master Hylan about that. I mean, if the prophetess can warp around..." [Leah] I'm sure he could. He can do all sorts of cool things! I would just what Johnathan can't do * Niri makes zooming and wooshing noises. "That'd be cool." << er would = wonder >> I'll bet Johnathan can't make a good souffle. * Angie punches Mikel on the top of his head. Pft. Anyone can learn to make a souffle. Angie! O_o I'm sure a lot of stuff. I heard a rumor that he can't make omlettes to save his life. That's just a rumor though, and one my mom told me. Not like Saki can, I bet. [Leah] Heehee. Saki has him beat there! Well, no, but... hey. Wait a second. * Mikel lets out a shout, reaching up to rub his head. "What the hell was that for?" Of course with Saki, cooking is a matter of life and death. * Vytor watches the approaching lab with contentment But I think my mom told me that because she can't make any food to save her life and is jealous of anyone who could. The elementalors seem to have some way of blinking up to that base of theirs. There must be something the old civilization had... «ooc: could=can » Also, even I can make a good omlette. * Tanan frowns. "Gotta break a couple eggs to do it though." ¬_¬ I can make a badass omlette. Just the right amount of eggs, milk, bacon, cheese. If you throw in some onions and avacado it's killer. * Saki frowns at the labs as they come in; she's vaguely paying attention to the conversation below, but something's on her mind. "... might not be fit for whatever passes as normal people nowadays, though," she mutters down at Tanan's point. That might be a property of the elementalor status, though, Tanan. I make a really good CAKE. * Angie flops back down against the back seat. "Don't EVER say the fun is in the travelling," she says, voice just a little too loud. "I have spent months slogging through stinking, mosquito-infested with no change of clothes and nothing but dry rations." See, the secret is you gotta go by the book. Well, true, guys. But the principle might be useful. And- Ooh. cake? «ooc: mosquito-infested SWAMPS » «ooc: somehow I lost the "swamps" » * Mikel rubs the top of his head, wincing. "...bah, where's your adventurer spirit?" What, no impromptu cakes? Well, I can't conjure them out of thin air! They'd wind up crazy, I'n sure. Only if you're lazy. Hey, I can have an adventurer spirit and still teleport! *She sounds a touch defensive.* It's just more efficient adventuring! * Tanan sighs. "I could really go for some cake. Think the lab has cake? Probably not." Are you still adventuring if you skip past the ruins? "If you say so." Why can't you do both? and right to the treasure? As you head back downhill, there are a few checkpoints up ahead. More of those humanoid rifle bearing robots are there, accompanied by insect-like ones now, hovering and scanning passing travelers for illegal goods. "...that's just cheating, Ryllan." Second home sweeet home What are with those weird bug looking....things. * Angie folds her arms and juts out her lower lip. "All the rhetoric in the world won't make it any more fun to piss in a bucket or eat hardtack." There's a few technicians arund, though by the looks of it, just enough to control or reprogram the automatons if servcie is needed. More drones. Security and all that * Angie rolls down the window and sticks her head out to get a closer look at the robots. "Fine, fine." * Saki looks mildly distastefully at the robots; wariness and bias combined. With a faint huff of breath she sinks back into the cargo bed, riding out the rest of the trip. Those flying ones are the Gamma-Type drones. Fast responding security drones designed to incapacitate offenders quickly. So be careful not to offend them. "Meaning we keep Trune away from them." [Dr. Sonyele] That's correct. They also look for people elaving with technology from the labs without proper authorization. * Angie whistles. "Is security always this high around here? I've always wanted to come, but I've never been any closer than this." * DrWebbly is now known as Huwnap Normally? No. I imagine with the Prophetess, security's on high alert * Trune grumbles, "Robots aren't even fun to insult anyway on the account they're not even REAL PEOPLE and all that." What about Webbly? He's different. He's...very, very different. Are we about to get scanned, then? [Dr. Sonyele] That Dr. Webbly... I wonder what Chrissy will think. That he's interesting? Are you kidding? Dr. Webbly's AWESOME. The scaning drones have been aware of our approach for a while now, Ryllan Saki, will you make me some Moon Chocolate? :D * Niri prepares to duck if Saki tries to punch her "...don't you have to get her to the moon first?" Well, I assumed. But should I be alarmed if one of them gets up-close and personal? As if in answer to Ryllan's question, a faint beam of red light passes over the Destiny. The small sentry drone that Sonyele is carrying with her beeps a few times, but otherwise nothing happens. Not really. You'll get a warning before they fry you. Answers that. Admittedly the warning will be them frying the person next to you * Saki peers over the side to staaaaare into the cab at Niri. "... ... ... when we get onto the moon. Otherwise it's not authentic." * Niri snickers "Try not to fall, Saki." * Ryllan looks over at Trune, "Sorry about this, Trune." Blue star chocolate? Like the one before at SSonyele's place, the guards stand stock still with their light rifles. * Saki straightens up with a shrug. "... why not? I've stopped believing in 'if's. We seem to be dealing solely in 'when's." A few follow what appears to be obvious pre-set routes, walking them singlemindedly. * Trune blinks. The air buzzes with a couple tiny droids roaming about. * Angie waves at the robots. "Hi!" she says, putting on a cheerful face and trying to look law-abiding. As ngie put on her act, the is a technician in a white coat bearing the V symbol, bending down and futzing around with a panel on a downed Gamma Sentry. He's got a pair of strange green goggles on over his face, presumably letting him analyze energy pattern or such. * Angie gives the technician a thumbs up. "Keep up the good work!" * Vytor waves at some of the technicians he recognizes Not far away is a sign with directions! It flashes in color codes, things which match little dots on the roadway system. Red leads ahead ot the main building, while green goes to the factory outlet, blue to the support section, and finally yellow to the Geothermal Power Station. [Technician] *thumbs up* Yo Vytor! Welcome back! And... Sonyele! Doc! Choose your path. "You must choose wisely." Session Time: Sat Sep 02 00:00:00 2006 [Dr. Sonyele] *waves* Let's go to the main building, of course. We need to see the boss right away. * Ryllan turns down the red path, then! Do you think the cafeteria here beats the Academy's? Depends on the day Why, different chefs? Different crews. Oh. * Angie slides an elbow out the window. "Is this one of the good days?" she asks. * Vytor thinks for a moment, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, no." Drat Bah! I say we ask Saki to take over their kitchen. ;D * Saki stares off into the distance, ostensibly watching a wall slide past to the transport's left but focusing past it. Whatever's on her mind she misses Niri's comment. Nah, we'll just have Niri take it over again and have her demand for something else that's sweet. I'd kill for a good bowl of bread pudding, myself. That trial won't look good Rolling closer, you soon come to the lobby of the impressive structure. It is abustle with activity... unlike the usual uniqueness that you feel riding around in your Land cruiser in most cities, here you are soon met with an entire parking lot full of them! Plus modified ones acting as hualers, tankers, even high volume passenger shuttles for employees. Not to mention the lot in the outlet store that sells them to the general public. Welcome to the Volcanon commons. Ooh, large machinery! Ooh, potentially crushed limbs! * Tanan stares at Trune, blinking "...silence magic just jumped to the top of my list." There is a big sign over a set of glass door that says "Welcome to Vulcannon Labs - Tomorrows Technology, Today!" You people seriously cannot take a joke to save your lives. * Vytor seems in high spirits nonetheless * Ryllan grins, "Nice place. Shall we?" "Perhaps the problem lies not in the audience, but the comedian?" * Mikel grins at Trune. * Angie looks all around, craning her head at awkward angles to get a clear view out of every window. The moment the Destiny rumbles to a stop she's out on the pavement, getting a closer look at one of the cruisers. * Tanan traces two little circles in the ground with the toe of his shoe. Ok, Trune? See the circle on the left? We should head to Chrissy first-off A smaller one "Home of the famoous Silver Alchemy© Process" Er, yeah? That's what you think is funny. * Tanan points at the unconnected circle on the right and grins. "Now see that one?" * Trune glares at Tanan, "Yeah?" * Saki only blinks back to reality some time after the Destiny has actually stopped moving, hopping lightly off the cargo bay, taking a cursory note of the other vehicles, then waiting around with a frown. * Tanan looks innocent. "Everyone else." ngie finds it's remarkably similar, however the Destiny sports it's trademark additional axle, giving it 8 wheels instead of the standrad six. * Mikel chuckles as he climbs out of the Destiny... and winds his way over to the cruisers as well. * Vytor hops down from the Destiny * Trune goes very quiet and grabs his things, heading out with everyone else, but staying to the back of the pack. "I need to get me one of these things." Sonyele stretches once and steps out, looking around. The defense droid ambles behind her faithfully. * Angie fondles the metal a bit before moving on to other sights. [Leah] They're really expensive though! * Tanan scuffs the circles off the floor before hopping down. "Maybe we should clean in there when we get it fixed." [Leah] Only famous explorers get a chance to own one... "Then I just need to strike it big." [Dr. Sonyele] Well, mass production is starting to bring the price down. Soon every average citizen will have one. "I'm impatient though." * Saki stalks behind the party, frown deepening. "... that'll get crowded." Dr. Sonyele walks up to the doorway and the clear door swoosh open before her presence. Oh come on, Saki, there's lots of room to expand. Brave new world and all that, eh? * Vytor follows Dr. Sonyelle * Angie twists around in a whirl of movement, coat swirling around in the breeze. She meets Saki with a frightening, toothy grin. "There's a lot of world out there!" * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 24: Silverado | Location: Vulcannon Lab Complex | Pools: 3287 §, 6 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ ' * Tanan looks at Ryllan. "Hundreds of Mikels and Trunes and Niris driving." "...hey!" I'm just saying! "It isn't my fault they put the Cathedral there!" ...good point. ...Obviously the robots will have to drive those cars. * Saki rubs a chin in thought, apparently taking the suggestion seriously. "... mm. Wouldn't work in Meribia, though. Some of the districts bustle enough without a giant vehicle per person." Meribia is old hat! We'll build new towns that are ten times as awesome. "Bah. Besides, maybe I can convince them to let Niri and Trune drive some of the other ones for tests. For all you know they'll be perfectly sane drivers." It'd be the first time either of them would be perfectly sane. It'll take time for the vehicles to catch on. They do need maintenance, and right now that's tough to get outside of the lab. I don't think any of us know what that even means. * Saki has the faintest of sulks; there might even be a gentle edge of whine to her voice. "... but I /like/ Horam." You can build Horamtown! New Horamtownton. Ville. "Tanan? You're out of the circle." * Angie turns her head sharply as a small vehicle different from the others rolls by. She ambles after it, following it around the lobby like a baby duck. * Tanan shakes his head at Mikel. "No, see, look." * Tanan draws another circle in the dirt, and then a bunch of smaller circles inside it * Mikel holds up a hand towards Tanan, gesturing for silence as he slows a bit so he's nearer to Trune. "Hey, you alright?" Dr. Sonyele enters the lobby, which is filled with cushy sitting chairs, magazines on modern scienece and even a vending rarea. Huh? Er, yeah, I'm okay. * Mikel raises an eyebrow, not looking entirely convinced. "Don't make me get Niri to cheer you up." * Trune snrks, "Nah, I'll be fine. I'm just gonna keep my distance till Tanan gets that stick out of his ass." * Vytor goes to rab a copy of the latest announcements. Its been a while since he's been at the lab, and he wants to catch up on the latest developments. There is a wide front desk with a few receptionists at it, that she begins conversing with and introducing her rather large party, obtaining the proper security clearances. This obviously takes some time, and in the meanwhile those chairs do look sleek and comfy. Vytor grabs a company memo pamphlet - "From the Forge v115" * Saki looks terribly lost and out of place, and keeps her distance towards the back, making sure no-one splits off too far. * Angie eventually makes her way back to the rest of the group. She leans over and says, "It looks like this is gonna be a bit -- do you know if we're allowed to walk around the grounds or if I'd like get shot?" me chuckles. "ALrighty then." With that he moves forward, though he makes certain to step on the edge of one of the circles Tanan's drawing. * Vytor settles into a chair, and begins to read. << ...dammit! >> * Mikel chuckles. "Alrighty then." With that he moves forward, though he makes certain to step on the edge of one of the circles Tanan's drawing. It's filled with a lot of hubbub over the new portable forge test, and well as R&D on what appears to be an actual working mechanical exoskeleton receovered from some ruins! That one was you, you know. As long as you stay in the green and blue zones, you'll be fine, Angie. Just stay out of the other areas. Those are restricted. "My humor cannot be contained in a mere circle." That's either really deep or really trite. * Vytor takes note of the exoskeleton article, not having heard of that deveopment as of yet * Angie unslings her bag and sets it down on the chair by Vytor. "Okay, I'm gonna do some of that adventuring we were talking about. Watch my stuff?" She's gone before he has a chance to answer. "Let the historians figure it out." * Saki just looks ... terribly lost. She claims a chair, peers around, and looks very slightly dazed. * Vytor almost responds to Angie, then resigns himself to be her equipment babysitter without complaint. Vytor also finds some brief articles on improvements scheduled for this summer, and a wage increase being discussed after some people have been complaining about hazardous conditions in the wake of the recent moderate quake. * Tanan nods, more interested now in the surroundings Hmm. More earthquakes? * Mikel just pokes around a bit, not wandering far. "Interesting place." He glances over at Vytor. "Earthquakes?" Yeah, this area isn't know for siesmic activity, but they do happen. There was a recent one too. Did some damage I think. * Vytor flips to the appropriate article * Trune sits down in one of the chairs, fiddling in his bag, "Didn't Dr. Webbly say something about one of the Elementlors causing some of the quakes, if not all?" «ooc: nix my comment if I'm wrong. It's been a couple of weeks » Mars, wasn't it? I think he mentioned that, yeah. * Vytor reads in silence for a moment. No, Uranus. He said both of them were out here, but that Ur-... I can't say it. It sounds too stupid. He was causing the quakes. Mars was supposed to be out by the coast though, I think * Ryllan shakes his head, "Mm. That's right - Ur-ann-us, Tanan - And mars is around here somewhere too. Fun." On a lighter note, there's a coupon in here for 25% off at participating Flor-Mart locations. * Saki listens along, still clearly not quite in touch with reality - or at least technology - here. Lemme guess, the nearest flor-mart is back the way we came. "It'd be keeping with our luck." No, but it is on the opposite side of the complex. * Vytor flips through a few more pages "Not so bad then." * Trune flips through a magazine, "I can one up you, Vy. Pete's Local Buyer's mart is having a buy one, get one free special on salted pork fat." You know, if you had a hankering for that sort of thing. * Mikel grimaces. * Angie comes back with a long tube as thick as a large man's arm, covered in gauges and switches. She looks like the cat who ate the canary. Not unless Saki has a need for that much salted pork fat. Which I doubt. I'm trying to wrap my mind on how salted pork fat would even travel, let alone be used in flavoring cooking. * Vytor notes Angie's return. "By the way, no I won't watch your stuff. Just for the record." Leah, meanwhile is staring curiously at a nearby vending machine. She hasn't seen one before. Shiro paws at the glass, wanting a snack. :/ Unless its dried salted pork fat, it doesn't travel well * Angie hefts the tube triumphantly. "I have things! A thing." She picks up her bag and sits down. "Thanks for keeping an eye on it," she says. What is that? "Besides a thing." * Angie whirls it around to peer down a hole in one end. "It's a big gun. I got it from the outlet for practically nothing because it doesn't work." DR. Sonyele finally finishes with her paperwork and waltzes back over handing everyone a little clip-on visitor's pass. How is that useful? * Vytor nods to Dr. Sonyelle, and tacks on his visitor's pass * Angie slings the gun over her shoulder by its leather strap. "I think I can fix it." She shrugs. "And if not, I can probably use the parts for something or other." * Saki takes the badge, only half-seeing, and settles for holding it in a hand which has a chin resting on it, which has a skeptical stare at the speakers-to-be resting on /that/. Be sure to keep the passes on yourself and in view at all times. If you don't the security drones will zap you without warning if you're in a secure area. [Dr. Sonyele] Hang onto those. Whenever you're ready, you all can go upstairs and visit Chrissy in her office. I'm going to go ahead and have a few words with her in private if that's alright. * Ryllan takes the badge, slipping it into a pocket. * Mikel attaches teh badge, hming. "...noted. Hopefully they won't fall off." * Angie accepts er badge and clips it over her left breast. * Vytor nods to Dr. Sonyele Thanks, Dr. * Niri clips on the pass, still quietly watching everything around them. The sientist also leans in towards Mikel. "And as for you, I still owe you your services, mm?" << er owe you for >> * Trune clips the badage onto his shirt. * Tanan attaches the badge, peering around * Trune raises an eyebrow at Mikel and the Doctor. . o O ( Is she coming onto him or something? ) * Vytor finishes the magazine, and puts it back where he got it * Mikel finishes dealing with the badge, just blinking once at the wording before nodding. "Prooobably by now, yeah." She places a small bag in his hand, filled with silver coins. * Vytor represses a smirk [Dr. Sonyele] 1500 silver, then. That should get you by. I have a feeling you're going to need it soon. * Angie lifts her badge up and looks down at it, reading the upside-down print. "So what kind of access does this get us? Do we get to see the secret superweapons?" "With this crew? Definitetly." * Mikel disappears the bag into his jacket, looking rather content. Hey now. No, only into secure areas designated by the barcode imprinted on the card. The security doors won't open unless your code authorizes them to. "Do the doors zap you if you're not authorized?" So no, no secret superweapons No, they won't open for you. Besides, even if you did get in, the drones would swarm you before you got too far. [Dr. Sonyele] Of course Chrissy can escort you around wherever she likes. I'm sure you're going to get a very complete tour, cnsidering. True * Angie makes a sour face. "So far I've only seen one set of secret superweapons on this WHOLE TRIP." She sighs melodramatically. Something tells me we should keep it that way, Angie. Don't be silly. You can never have too many superweapons. ...Some people can't. Angie can. "...you'll run out of stuff to destroy." You don't have to USE them. * Angie swats Mikel in the arm. "I only have a couple things I want to destroy! It's just that I aim high." Contrary to popular belief, weaponry isn't the main focus of Volcanon Labs. Meanwhile, Leah puts a coin into the machine and successfully gets a cookie. But as she reaches down for it, Shiro snags it and she starts fighting him for it, pullin git back and forth until the package rips and the cookie splits. :p * Niri giggles at Shiro and Leah. [Dr. Sonyele] Yes... come on then, let's get this interview starterted then. WE'll tell you ll about the Labs and our mission. << started... all about >> Sounds dandy. Let's roll, then. * Mikel reaches up to bat away any further attacks. "Fine! Fine! Why don't you beat up on Saki or Vytor?" They're all big and stuff. The woman gestures to a spiral stairway leading up to the offices. * Saki stands up, clipping the badge to herself and raking a hand through her hair. "... I'm big and scary. ... and really not cut out for this place. ... let's go." "...bah." * Vytor stands, and heads for the staircase * Mikel follows along after getting abused by Angie. * Niri follows. * Trune follows behind the others. * Angie looks down at the well between the spiral as she climbs the stairs. * Ryllan moves towards the staircase himself, "You know, I wish we could just move along to the fixing the destiny and the elementalors. But, I suppose we must learn..." And here we end, because the IoG2 disk has a scratch on it for the next scene. (just kidding!) == SESSION END == Session Close: Sat Sep 02 01:35:04 2006
