The Elementalor Neptune's mind had unfortunately been shattered into 3 entities, two of which came along peacefully after some riddle-me this. However, the final leviathan took the punchline one step further... by giving you a test of force! A huge fish-like, scaled yet sinous beat stares at you with blue crystal eyes... * Saki tears towards it at a dead run, a vicious snarly force of energy drawing back to punching apocalypse the thing. * Trune 's gaze switches between the mammoth fish and Niri, a plan forming in his mind. The single body is flanked by two tentacles whipping about, one of which constrict around a helpless Nirir! * Vytor stands firm in front of the party, looking for an opening. « er Niri » [Leah] Hey, let go of her you big slimy thing! * Angharad grips her halberd, hoping the blade won't bounce off the rubbery body. Let her go, fucker! She's not even big enough for a snack! Try to show us you've got big fish balls by taking a hapless girl? Goddess, you're so lame! [Tidal essence] *roar* You want her back, come and get her! >> Boss Battle! Vs Tidal essence of Neptune! * Tanan tilts his head, seeming to be taking this rather calmly. "A test, huh?" * Angie rushes down the catwalk, gun in hand, but she skids to a halt ten yards away, reluctant to come within reach of those limbs. Stupidest test ever. You're done here, fishy. Go back where you belong. >> Declaration Phase. * Saki is absolutely heedless of danger as she continues her run, dead straight towards the thing. [Mikel] Time to do what I do best.. prepare for shocker. We didn't get a chance to test run this...but, here goes nothing. * Ryllan looks up at Niri, "...Trune, try not to blow us up. I can't help you this time." >> Tidal Essence tentacle starts to summon the waves around Angharad, Vytor and Trune. Surely a spell is coming... the main body starts gathering the waters as well, in a protective enhantment. * Trune rummages in his backpack and yanks out the ECC. He holds it in his hands and concentrates, trying to establish some sort of connection. There's a faint whisp of yellowish energy seeping from the device, but beyond that it's tough to tell if anything remotely exciting is happening, or if it's even working. * Vytor eyes the rising water with some concern * Angharad grits her teeth and lines up her weapon for a shot at the beast's tentacles. >> Battle Phase. >> Ryllan is preparing to combo... >> The Tidal Essence finishes gathering the waters about your feet to it, as they dissolve into and flow through the body, like it is made of fluid alone, slinking this way and that and impossible to hit. Depths defense! Protected from next 3 strike attacks. I don't like the looks of that. >> Saki attacks with ONslaught of Blows! * Saki is barely a metre or two away in her run when she finally slows; twisting, she brakes to a halt and brings all of the momentum forward in a vicious elbow to the thing's main body. Instantly she's in motion, roaring as she pummels the large creature to try to force through it's guard with a series of rapid punches. >> The punches are negated entirely, as Saki finds she is trying to punch a waterfall instead of a physical body. (2 remain) >> Mikel's action. >> Mikel causes a huge crackle of thunder to explode around you, as lightning infuses the front row! Jolt! >> Saki, Vytor, Ryllan, Angharad & Tanna all gain 25% React. Thanks Mikel! * Tanan bounces once on the balls of his feet. "Interesting. Thanks. Shame you could have accomplished the same effect for half the energy by just doing the opposite to th-... that's the worst thanks ever. Sorry!" Mikel gives a thumbs up, already starting to prepare for his next attack... >> Vytor's action. * Vytor grasps his weapon in both hands, and centers himself for a charge. He then sprints forward at incredible speed, and gives his weapon a mighty swing! With a sharp *CRACK*, it connects with his target's chin and sends his enemy flying! >> Vytor uses Batter Up! The barrier thankfully does not stop his mighty blow, as it passes through to connect! 73! Yes! >> Angharad's action. * Angharad dashes at the fish creature and swings her halberd in a great arc to chop at the tentacle holding Niri! >> Niri murfs as the halberd slices at the tentacle. Crescent Fang! 82 damage. It still holds fast, but loosens just enough to give her a chance to start chanting a spell. >> Angie's action. * Angie slashes her hand through the air, etching a thin blue line. She draws her palm back and makes a second slash going in the opposite direction, and then another, drawing a glowing sigil in the air. She draws the final line, and the symbol begins to rotate slowly in place. With a forward thrust of her palm, it shoots forward, blasting across the catwalk in a bolt of light and surrounding the creature in a web of glowing threads. * Angie adjusts her glasses; wireframe diagrams and long streams of text play across the inside of the lenses. >> Angie uses Measure! The monster yields the following information to her probes.. >> Tidal essence HP: 1334/1489, MP: 101/110, Immune Water, Weak Thunder, Resist Fire. >> Tanan's action. * Tanan gestures at Vytor, a sheath of energy briefly surrounding him before fading. "This could be useful if it comes after you." >> Tanan invokes the forces of chaos to bless Vytor. Charm defense! he is now countering attacks with a React debuff reprisal! * Vytor blinks at the sheath, then realizes what it is, "Thanks Tanan." >> Trune's action. * Trune holds the ECC upwards, and there is a quick burst of yellow light. Trune calls out, "Jupiter, can you hear me? We need your help down here!" >> -- Cutscene! -- * Angie mashes X. * Ryllan mashes A instead. OLDSCHOOL. Somewhere above the Blue Star, on the dead Moon, is a base of ancient design. With it lies the prototype circutitry for the Elementalor system. Just as Trune holds his communciator aloft down below, an alarm goes off inside the habitation module. [Jupiter] Is that? yes! Looks like the boy's calling us to help! I'll have to oblige. Dr. Webbly runs around trying to do a diagnostic check while the yellow haired Elementalor slips into a special chair, sealed with fluid to conduct brainw aves. There is a flash of light and his mind is zapped into the many cirucits running throuhg the place, all terminating at a huge antenna. It rotates slowly, changing it's angle of declanation to project towards the Great lakebed... *FWOOM* The amplifier shoot a beam of pure Electricity that slams down into the earth, penetrating even rock and metal to get to it's destination. >> --back at the battle--- >> Trune's call does not go unheeded, for as soon as he finishes his word a explosion of power lands inf ront of him, curled into a ball. The figure unstretches and it is soon the glowing etherial projection of Jupiter before you, smiling snidely. Huh! Wow. Wish I could do that. * Trune 's eyes go wide and he takes a couple of shocked steps back, "I didn't expect that to work on my first try. O_o" [Jupiter] A wise choice. I was beginning to wonder when you'd give me a ring. This water field is enhancing signal resolution. Allow me to put this cretin in his place. Please don't fry Niri in the process * Angharad spares a glance at the impressive display, but otherwise keeps her eyes on the fish. >> Elementalor Jupiter is summoned! EP is currently 378/378. defending until next round. * Angie backs off a few more paces, happy to let the mighty opposites clash. * Saki makes a vaguely strangled noise as the power coalesces, even breaking out of rather focused and berserk attack to stagger away a couple of paces. >> Niri wideyed at what Jupiter just did and starts casting a thunder spell on herself. Ryllan quickly sees the opportunity and reacts! Gotcha. Saki! Have a boost. >> Niri's Thunder Soul extends to Saki, as both are infused with the power of lightning! * Saki shivers as the energy settles around her; with so much willforce around she's starting to resemble a frightened rabbit. A very volative and angry one, mind you. Careful, Saki's looking a bit weirded out! * Vytor can't resist, and prods Saki gently in the shoulder, "Tingly." >> The creature eyes Jupiter warily, a dim flicker of realization of something somewhere.. but the tentacle does not hesitate, lashing out with it's collected tidal force at it's 3 victims! Neptune's Trident! Saki! Saki! It's ok! Stay with us here! >> Sensing danger, Angahrad's Storm Resist kicks in! « er depths resist. sorry » Incoming! Oh damn! * Angharad braces herself. >> Vytor suffers 98. Angharad resist some of the Water impact - 54. Trune is whumped for 101. >> Vytor counterattacks, severing part of the sinewy appendage. React down 10. Ow * Trune is nearly thrown backwards, looking like a drowned rat. A hurt, ticked off drowned rat, at that. * Vytor squares his shoulders, and otherwise looks wet and annoyed, but otherwise OK >> Leah tries to throw an attack spell together... but she gets the wrong element. Flamer is cast at the tentacle holding Nirir! « er Niri » «ooc: Nirir's well! » >> It resists Fire! 35 damage. >> Round 2 * Tanan spares a glance to watch her cast. "Good try, Leah! I really need to talk to you about how you do that some time, it's really different." [Tidal essence] You know my weaknesses, but will it be enough to save you before the water consumes you? >> Declaration Phase. [Leah] Urgh.. i gotta save her! Shiro growls at the big monster. * Vytor inhales, and prepares to hit the monster again. >> The tentacle again gathers water, this time aiming for Angie, Angharad and Mikel. * Saki sways limply on the spot, eyes screwed up in pain, trying to fight back a wave of hallucinations. * Angie tightens her grip on the trigger, growling. The hammer draws back slowly. "I...I don't like you very much!" >> The body begins moving quickly, like it is going to pounce on Jupiter... * Angharad is getting the distinct sensation that the fish doesn't like her. [Jupiter] Humph. Now I'll teach you how good of a conductor water is. * Trune draws his athames begins to trace a pattern in the air, leaving a dark purple wake, "Man, I still think you're all talk. You got to kidnap a girl just so people can be afraid of you? Geez. Why don't you put her down and show us how you really fight with none of these stupid tricks!" * Ryllan looks at Trune, "Mind if I borrow some of that for our friend here?" Be my guest! This should be good. Guys.. this is a fragment of Neptune. Don't get TOO carried away. We want to beat him, but not beat him. * Angharad grunts. "Let's just save Niri. We can worry about the state of Neptune after she's safe." Agreed MMm. yeah. Two out of three isn't bad! >> Mikel prepares to call down the thunder. >> Jupiter prepares to do likewise, on a MUCH grander scale. >> Battle Phase. >> Saki's action. « cause she's fast foo' » * Saki sways again then launches forward in a violent lunge, fingers set in claws, aiming straight for the wall of water around Neptune. With a roar she all but disappears amidst the watery barrier, pummeling at nothingness until it shatters. >> Saki attacks the essence, and again her assault si rebuffed, the wall wweaking significantly. (1 block left). >> Tidal Essence growls and then disappears into the water under your feat with a lunge. A second passes briefly before Jupiter is suddenly dragged under the waves and mauled underwater, before being tossed out again to land ungracefully. * Trune winces, "That had to suck." * Vytor winces >> Undertow! Jupiter resists water attacks though. 113! [Jupiter] ugh, this.. is neptune alright.. but.. not... That had to hurt. >> Vytor's action. Ough. Does that actually get felt back along the line? If so, ouch. * Vytor grasps his weapon in both hands, and centers himself for a charge. He then sprints forward at incredible speed, and gives his weapon a mighty swing! With a sharp *CRACK*, it connects with his target's chin and sends his enemy flying! >> Vytor steps up to the plate once more, cracking his mallet against a scale or two which buckle ever so slightly. 69! >> Jupiter lifts a finger and the forces of Elemental power coalesce around the Tidal essence creature, holding it briefly in place. One by one he pumps out thunderbolts into his target, frying the hard shell with furious magical power. >> Thunder Justice! Weak to Thunder.. 292! Nice shot o_O Holy crap. O_o * Angie winces, shielding her eyes with one arm. * Tanan lets out a low whistle >> Jupiter loses 30 EP. Currently 235/378. >> Ryllan is delaying... >> Angharad's action. * Angharad launches herself at the beast, hefting her large polearm over her head to bring it crashing down on the tentacle holding Niri. >> Niri, now glowing with eletrical aura, is becoming harder to keep a firm grip on. For her part, Angahard scores 82 more damage. >> Mikel tries to steal some of the Elementalor's thunder, literally! Reply to Thunder deals 128 damage! « whoops my bad » « that is form 2. » >> 192 damage that is. >> Angie's action. * Angie squints, watching the melee from a distance. The chaotic dance of bodies is making it difficult to get a clear shot, but suddenly a window comes into view, and she fires without thinking. >> Angie puuls the trigger.. bang! she barely gets a piece of the quick enemy. 26 damage. >> Tanan's action. « retcon. The strike is negated. But the barrier is gone! » * Tanan turns, pointing a palm back at Trune and showering him with a soft cascade of healing energy. "Ok, that looked like it hurt you pretty good, so here you go..." >> Tana uses his bread and butter, Restore, Trune recovers all HP. « er Tanan » * Trune nods in thanks to Tanan. >> Trune's action. Voices in the Night, Whispers from Beyond. Spirits of dark, be a source of power.. Mimir's Well! >> Ryllan may act! * Trune holds his athames out to his side, curls of shadowy energy swirling about his body as a spidery string of arcane words slips from his tongue. He then holds his athames outwards, and the shadowy energy draws inwards and then dissapears. * Ryllan draws shadows from Trune, lettting them curl around his arms for a bare moment, before sending them spiraling into the Elementalor! >> Trune casts Mimir's well on himself.. Talent up 50%. Ryllan makes sure a little extra goes Jupiter's way too. >> Niri struggles! She hits the tentacle for 50 damage with a thunder-powered boomerang edge. >> Battered, the monster of the deeps unleashes another 3 pronged attack at random targets! C'mon Niri, kick his ass! Watch out! * Angharad raises her halberd in front of her in an attempt to mitigate as much damage as possible. >> Angie suffers 70. Angharad blunts the attack - 65. Mikel is struck for 104. >> Leah again tries to throw together a random spell, and is sucessful. It's not a Thunder strike, but a helpful debuff! Pressure Cooker reduces all of Tidal essence's stats by 5%. >> Round 3 >> Declaration Phase. * Saki barely notices the barrier break in the midst of her battery. * Vytor hefts his hammer once more, looking for an opening >> The tentacle again gathers water, aiming for Jupiter, Tanan and Saki. >> The main body growls at Tanan, opening it's mouth to bear wide fangs. * Angie grits her teeth and spits a glob of blood into the water below. Her trigger finger twitches, but there's no way to get a solid shot on the narrow platform. * Ryllan looks at Jupiter, "You doing that again, Jupe?" Oooh. He uh.. doesn't look happy. * Tanan raises his shield [Jupier] If you have any other suggestions. It will fall eventually. Oh no. Do it again, if you don't mind. * Trune begins to draw another pattern in the air with his athames, this time the wake left behind is a strong green color, "Man, he's going at it again? This is 'effin' tiresome." Don't worry, Jupiter. We'll back you up. >> Mikel grits his teeth and prepares another volley of energy. >> Battle Phase. >> Saki's action. * Saki grounds herself for the briefest of moments then crashes into the thing once again with much better results; she practically clambers up the body, slashing wildly at the creature in massive, sweeping, and above all angry strikes. In the wake of each swing is a crackle of thunder. * Vytor eyes Saki's assault carefully, waiting for her to make an opening for him. >> Saki attempts her attacks again, this time with no wall to stop her and powerful magics guiding her hands, she unloads massive shock therapy. 70! 66! 72! >> Vytor's action. * Vytor grasps his weapon in both hands, and centers himself for a charge. He then sprints forward at incredible speed, and gives his weapon a mighty swing! With a sharp *CRACK*, it connects with his target's chin and sends his enemy flying! >> Vytor sticks with what works. simple. effective. painful. 76 damage. >> Tidal Essence leaps at the group, snagging Tanan in his sneklike body and literally swallowing him whole. o_o Tanan! >> This is follwoed by lots of munching, before he's unceremooniously spit out. His defensive stance lets him avoid the worst of it, only mildly injured. That couldn't have been pleasant :\ >> Tanan loses 183 HP, creature regains like amount! That didn't look good... * Tanan drops to a knee. "ok.. ow.. that was really.." This guy is seriously ticking me off. Session Time: Sat Jun 10 00:00:00 2006 * Vytor grunts in annoyance at Tanan's distress and the monster's relief * Tanan pulls himself back to his feet. "That was.. severely uncomfortable. And very wet." >> Jupiter grunts and prepares to cast his paralytic thunder spell again. Just then Ryllan interrupts... * Ryllan calls power to him, not keeping it, merely lending it to Jupiter, lightning crackling between him and the elementalor, "Bigger is better, right? Let's see what you can /really/ do!" >> With the addition of his power to the Elementalor, the spell morphs into a huge ball of crackling lightning. Releasing it with a fair amount of strain, it steam rolls right over the main body of the sea monster, searing it nearly to death! >> Thunder Justice +! Weak to Thunder 377! >> Angharad's action. * Angharad growls her frustration as she redoubles her efforts to chop Niri free of the tentacle. [Tidal essence] This.. this power... I... >> Angharad gives a mighty blow and finally cuts Niri free of the tentacle monster. Magical girl in distress rescued! >> 72 damag. Finally! Get clear, Niri! Nice work! [Niri] THanks Angharad! I thought I was going to be seafood! >> Mikel's action. * Saki recoils back from the massive ball of electricity, shuddering as she rather ungainly falls back to the ground and lands heavily. * Trune smiles slightly at the sight of Niri being loose, but focuses back to the battle at hand. [Mikel] Nope. The only seafood is going to be that thing...! Ugh. Rule number one, never eat anything sentient. Ever. >> Mikel cats Reply to Thunder... once again a bolt strike unerring for 134 damage! « and once again the Gm forgets that's form 2 » >> Make that 210 damage. >> AT any rate, the combine force of the electrocution finally causes the hulking behemoth to collapse into the pool in a final roar of pain! >> Tidal Essence is subdued! VICTORY! All right! >> The catwalk shudders under the force of the Essence's fall, making Angie jump. She edges forward, not about to lower her gun just yet. Whew. Man, me and Neptune are gonna have a little chat on social etiquette. * Angharad sets the butt of her halberd on the floor with a light thump as she rests some of her weight on it. "Now will this fish go back to the rest of Neptune?" >> The group gains 8 XP! 0 silver. 7 MXP. * Saki crashes off the thing and skids to a halt in, well, a bit of a heap. She doesn't look very well, and is staying the hell away from both Neptune and Jupiter; as the thunder fades from around her, though, she seems to gain a little concentration back. [Jupiter] Hmm... so this is a fragment of my brother? Returning it ot the body should revitalize his mind. Let's hope so. And thanks for the assist, Jupiter. Yeah, thank you. So we have to carry this thing then? Ugh, I hope not. I'll smell like bad fish for weeks. Jupiter walks over to the hulking thing and touches it with a crackling hand. It glows blue for a moment, then fades away into a tiny sapphire orb. Does he really need this part of his mind? Because I'm not sure I want him trying to kill us later on. He'd probably miss it Perhaps this part is the only one that knows how to fight. If that's the case, I'd rather he have it back. [Jupiter] This is his unrestrained force personified.. the other pieces were most likely solitutde and humor. * Tanan brushes himself off, wincing. "Something bad happens every time we wake one of you up." Jupiter shakes his head, then the image starts getting fuzzy. * Saki has picked herself up off the floor - just about - and is hovering off to one side from the group, trying to calm herself down. [Jupiter] It's...err... sig... power... shorting... experimental still. Be.. back. The figment of Jupiter starts to break up into tiny motes of light that hover in a rough shape of him, before finally going their seperate ways, harmless photons drifting past you lazily... ...I'm still kind of amazed that worked. Wow. * Trune stares at the ECC still in his hands for a few long moments, then gently puts it back in his backpack. We should definitely try that again if we get in trouble That was amazing. I mean, the way he just sort of.. yeah. * Saki finally brings her breathing under control; still looks a little lost, and is carrying herself gingerly, but she rejoins the group. * Vytor looks over at Saki, "You OK?" Leah hugs Niri! While Shior jumps up and down happily. « er Shiro » * Tanan pauses a moment to murmur a heal for himself >> Tanan heals himself for 146 HP. * Trune eyes Niri, "You're okay, Princess?" * Tanan looks around. "Anyone else?" * Saki gives Vytor a silent and lop-sided shrug. From the looks of her, she'll live. * Vytor nods in return Nirir nods to Trune, the last of her lightning glow subsiding. She's none the worse for wear, albie ta bit dishelved and wet. * Angie wipes a streak of blood from her chin. "I've been better." I'll live. I think the worst of it is over. Let's go see if Neptune isn't a vegetable anymore. * Angharad nods. * Vytor shoulders his hammer, and heads back to where Neptune is Mikel looks pretty sore himself, but the victory heartens him to shrug most of it off. Vytor trudges through the puddles that still dot this sewer area and heads back up the metal mesh staircase. It's not long before you are back at the gigantic aquarium. Netune is as you left him, laying prostrate on the table here, hooked up to lfie support and monitoring systems. * Saki stops well-short of Neptune's gigantic fish tank, leaning back up against the wall stiffly. As you approach he twitches reflexively, hands making a grasping motion at the air. * Vytor gives Neptune a critical look * Angharad keeps her halberd ready in case there's still some of the fish nastiness in him. ...Here goes everything. * Angie hasn't stowed her weapon yet. She readies herself for trouble as the man on the table stirs. * Trune takes a deep breath, "I hope we don't have to fight him. I'm still bloody wet." * Trune pulls out the orb that Jupiter extracted from the gigantic fish, and heads towards Neptune's table. * Trune shakes his head as he begins to look a little unfocused. He takes one small step forward and holds the orb above Neptune's chest. As trune offers the spiritual shard out to it's master, the body quivers and glows a similar color. An icy chill, then a humid sensation, followed by the refreshing water washes over the room and all 3 combine to reform the true self. The orb sinks deep into the chest of th Elementalor, and he jerks his eyes open. o_o * Vytor waits * Trune waits as well, still looking a bit spacey. The white robed young pointy-eared scienc project is now obviously conscious, trying to reconstitute his toughts. A mental voice slowly forms. "...what.. what have I been doing?" Giving out a lot of riddles. You've been a bit ...disjointed, and sick. But you--hold on a moment, I'll find your brothers for you. Hi * Trune rummages through his backpack and pulls out the ECC, "Hey guys? We found Neptune. He wants to say howdy." [Neptune] Riddles? I think I remember telling a joke to the scientist. And then.. something went.. wrong. Good morning, Neptune. A lot must have gone wrong for you to split up into three pieces. ...Yeah, Wrong. That's one way of putting it. But you're alright now. Neptune tries to get to s itting position, looking around at the glass enclosed gigantic water tank, teeming with lfie that seems to be gathering strangely around the specticle. Colored fish, turtles, starfish.. they all pay heed to their ancient master. [Jupiter] *from unit* Excellent. So he is conscious enough to speak? I apologize for withdrawing, but we haven't tested the system under such long durations yet. Safety issues. [Neptune] How long has it been? I feel like I have been sleeping forever. He cocks his blue haired head over at Trune, speaking into something vaguely familiar. "Wait, that device. I know it. Are you a scientist who survived?" That's about right. It's been thousands of years. *She offers the man a tight smile, lowering the gun.* You look pretty good, considering. * Vytor puts his hammer away, figuring the immediate danger is now past Neptune shakes his head. "Thousands... what.. why didn't I..." * Trune shakes his head, "No...I received it from another scientist, sorta." Like you said, a lot of things went wrong. Whatever should have wakened you was a part of that. * Saki lurks against the wall, keeping quiet. A small projection of Jupiter issues forth from the communicator ala WEbbly. [Jupiter] brother Neptune, it is me, Jupiter. How are you feeling? Neptune seems to shake off the daze as he hears this voice. "Jupiter! You are alive! What about the other?" « +s » [Jupiter] Brother Mercury is here with me, safe. We are trying to reunite with our other siblings, with the help of these explorers. They are actually Adepts, like us! Only far, far different. There is a lot to explain... * Tanan murmurs. "I like how summing things up answers almost nothing." [Neptune] It sounds like it. So what do you suggest I do now that I'm awake? * Angie smile takes on a grim curve. "We need you to blow somebody up." [Jupiter] You need to come join us on the Moon. It is safe here for the moment, and we have access to... the network. *pauses* Which can facilitate blowing offending persons up, among other things. I think you're rubbing off on him, Angie. * Vytor snrks [Neptune] So to the spaceport? That's going to be diffcult, considering the sutuation. Is it even working? [Jupite] Non-sense, we can jus gvie you the priviledge of trying out are new energy recall Elementalor transport system.It is built for just such an ocassion. « er Jupiter » Neptune stretches getting to his fee and trying them out cautiously. « er feet » [Neptune] I understand. Just give me a moment will you? Jupiter hushes up on the open channel. * Vytor watches and waits Neptune spreads his arms apart, and doing what appear to be magic tricks, but probably more like tests.
