>> Begin Interlude Session 14.howevermanyStorendecides! >> The evening sun has dipped down towards the far skyline, painting the cloudy sky in an array of reds and purples, offsetting the growing shadows of the swampy lanscape beneath it. All around, the sounds of wildlife can be heard, as they rouse themselves into activity. >> Standing out in this cluttered landscape, is a lone fire, makring the campsite of our intrepid adventurers. Some have bedded down, others see to various needs. >> Near the fire, Trune rests from a long say. Across the way, Vytor also sits, needle and thread in hand, working away at Trune's damaged shirt. <> > * Trune is gazing out into the skyline, not really saying all that much and looking half-ready to fall into a doze. * Vytor holkds the shirt up to the side, checking it in the light of the fire, given that its about the only light remaining. Almost done Trune. I hope you don't mind black thread. It was all I had. S'not a problem. I appreciate it. * Vytor goes back to his stitching, trying to figure out how to phrase his next question. Hey, Trune? Mm? * Vytor drops the shirt and stitching down into his lap, and exhales * Storen is now known as Momiji I can't think of a good way to ask this, so I'm jsut going to come out and say it: what the hell happened to cause your father to disown you? * Trune blinks a bit, looking a bit more awake, and his gaze grows a little colder, "That's kind of a personal question, don't you think?" I won't argue that point, but I'd still like to know. * Vytor looks directly at Trune, "Considering what happened, I can't really ignore it." « heh, I went to grab dinner.. see you already started. :) » «ooc: Snrk » * Trune is quiet for a moment and wets his lips, looking up at the skyline. I didn't really expect him to disown me, but he's always pretty pretty strict and demanding. * Vytor resumes his work while he waits for a response. After the Unravelling he said he was poor and a nobody and made himself into what he is today through a lot of hard work. And...I gues he just wanted me to be like him. He has a lot of expectations. But I mean, why do it at all? What is it that he dissaproves of so much? I've been thinking 'bout that a a lot lately. Haven't been sleeping well 'cuz of it. I think part of the reason is he fears my theory because it means everything he worked for will be turned flat on his ass. «ooc: his = its » I told him bits and pieces of it since the beginning, but he always told me I was wrong. Always. What is your theory? Can you explain it to me? Well, I guess the really simple version is that a lot of people believe that the elements are just something you can tap into. I thought the opposite: that the elements are sentient beings that help us. * GMZack (Zack@24.161.170.164) Quit (Ping timeout) I assume your father is of the former opinion? Oh yeah. He told me to shut it and go back to my studies. * Vytor closes his eyes, as if mentally putting a puzzle together So, does he feel threatened by your work? I honestly don't know. I think he just wants me to follow in his footsteps and I'm the fuck up. He wants you to be just like him? He wants me to live up to the family name. * Vytor thinks again So how is designing a theory, and testing it to see if its true or not...not mean living up to the family name? I mean, if you're a teacher... Shouldn't you be teaching what's known and proven? Well...its probably the way I went about it that pisses him off too. How so? Well, for starters I swiped Bree's staff. Most boneheaded thing I've ever done. * Vytor listens carefully I went with people my Dad didn't approve of, and I got thrown in jail because of it. I guess word got around about it too. So, you know, I'm just a bundle of joy for him right now. «ooc: brb puppy! BB in 5-10min » * Zack (Zack@24.161.170.164) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +v Zack <> * Zack is now known as GMZack «ooc: back. Let the interrogation resume! » <> Do you regret it? * Trune frowns, "Parts, but not all." What would you do differently? I wouldn't have been so naive. Naive how? I was a bit too trusting about certain people and how situations would play out. I...just didn't want to be a failure, so I believed stuff I normally wouldn't. * Vytor nods Are those the parts you regret? Mostly, yeah. I don't regret that I want to find out the truth about my theory though. And in many ways I sort of am. But if things had gone a different way, you wouldn't mind, I gather ...Yeah. Well, I guess it kind of boils down to what you want to do now. I...want to prove I'm not crazy. That I'm right. I know I'm onto something. We've all seen it. If you mean the Ellomatylators, then yeah, we certainly have. * Trune smirks slightly, "Elementalors. We still don't know enough about them, though." I guess. I suppose that since its hinted that they're artifical creations, its a bit hard to say that they're ebodiments of elemental forces Yeah, I mean, my theory was kinda right but it's different than what I expected. So...I have to find some new stuff out. I mean, I've got no choice even if I wanted to back out. They can freakin' talk to me. True enough, we've all seen that It's strange as hell. We're in a strange situation overall, so I'd say its actually normal for us What consitutes as NOT being normal? A good question * Trune quirks an eyebrow, "Saki tapdancing while roasting a juicy steak? Or Niri being mopey?" * Vytor finishes fixing the big rip, and moves onto the smaller ones How about Saki and Niri switching personalities in general? That...is so hilariously wrong. * Vytor chuckles « ack o_O » <> «ooc: We just gave Storen fodder, didn't we? » «ooc: <3 » <> << Suckers. >> * Trune is thoughtful for a moment, then nods, "Yeah, that would be pretty damn bizzare." May never happen though. You know how those two are. I do? O_o Niri is resiliently cheerful, and bounces back weel from adversity and troubles. Saki...just...maintains. Indefinitely. « Maybe.. maybe not. Still, so wrong. » I am convinced Niri is on hard-core drugs, maybe the hallucinogenic kind, becuase no one can be that goddamn happy. «ooc: brb again! » <> «ooc: back! » Well, Niri just might be one of those kind of people who cimply chooses to find the positive aspects to situations. Looking at obstacles as opportunities and challenges, and an chance to grow, and so on ...She could get hurt if she's not careful, though. Growth hurts sometimes Don't I know it. Niri just might be one of those kinds that are willing to accept the possibility of that pain for what's offered from weathering it I'm not entirely sure on that. Maybe. Neither am I, but that's a nicer things to say out someone than she's bonkers <> Yeah, s'guess so. * Trune yawns a bit and looks up towards the sky again, noticing the sun is pretty much down and the stars are coming out. Everyone's got their demons, and they deal with them in their own way. * Trune looks thoughtful for a moment, considering something. He then looks up to the skyline again. * Vytor glances up from his work, noting Trune's silence Something on your mind? Nothing major really. Just considering some stuff. So much for sleep tonight. Want to talk about it? Nah...mostly becuase I think this is something I need to work out on my own. Nothin' personal. No offense taken. * Vytor resumes his stiching again Well, I'll give you a piece of advice my father gave me, "The explorer who looks too far ahead stumbles over his own boots." If you've got a lot of troubles, deal just with the most immediate one, then move on. Huh. Would normally agree with you...but I think if I looked ahead before I took that staff I wouldn't be in this position. * Vytor goes quiet, giving Trune the opportunity to work things out as needed Perhaps, perhaps not. Who can say what might have been? * Trune goes quiet again, then sighs, "I dunno." Look at it this way, if you hadn't taken the staff, we'd be in an even less pleasant situation. That staff may give us the only edge we've got to stop the Sorceress. Or Prohpetess. or whatever she goes by. And I doubt Bree or her subordinates would have given it to us for any reason. Nah, they probably wouldn't have. So in retrospect, it may be that in this case, you did what was best, even if others don't see it that way. Heh, you know, I think you're the first person who's told me that. I have a different perspective than those you've run into previously. I noticed. Thanks. Sure thing. Now, why don't you try to put aside some of those concerns you have, and get some rest? We've got a long day ahead of us. * Trune starts to say something and then yawns, "Yeah that'd probably be a smart plan." * Vytor grins One last thing Trune. Hm? You said your father started from nothing, and carved out a name for himself in spite of that. Right. If that journey really means something to him, then he'll see that right now, you're on a similar journey. A lot's been taken from you, and now you have an opportunity to gain that back, and more. ....Thanks, Vy. * Vytor grins again, "What are friends for, right?" * Trune quirks his mouth a bit at the word 'friend', but doesn't say anything. Anyway, night, Vy. Thanks again for the shirt. Night Trune. * Trune closes his eyes and within a few moments, despite his concerns and worries he's already fast asleep. >> Silence falls over the campsite as the travellers bed down for the night, the glow of the firelight fades, becoming lost in the brilliance of the night sky. >> FIN Tah dah!
