Celyna mean while has retreated into the clinic, to stay by her unconscious gunamn's side. The academy seems to be the next stop, retracing your steps for answers... * Etir (~Nehn@24.239.126.40) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Etir * Vytor leans against the exterior wall of the inn, his belongings packed and ready * Niri yawns, her things packed, and waves to the others. "Morning." * Trune is sitting against the wall of the inn, his large backpack at his side. He seems to be keeping to himself, though that isn't quite so unusual. Morning Niri. How is? :D Packed and ready, hoping for some anwers. How about you? Leah walks up, hands behind her head. She looks a lot better now than this morning. Shiro is hopping along happily behind her, playing tag with some stray peices of rubble that haven't been removed yet from the street. * Saki is out in an open area of the quiet streets, doing morning practice; punching and kicking at the air in smooth motions. Apparently she's quite adept at ignoring stares. Yeah, same here, mostly. Oh hey, Leah! * Niri waves to her friend. "How're you this morning? Hey, Shiro!" * Angharad meets the small group outside of the inn with a simple nod of her head in greeting. Her bag is slung over her shoulder and ready to go. Hey Angharad. [Leah] Well, shopping for adventure gear always cheers me up! [Leah] We going to go back to the Academy after all? Yeah. Sounds like. Hello, Vytor. * Angie is sitting in the cab of the Destiny, scribbling into a ratty notebook with a tiny stub of a pencil. * Etir is now known as Tsmsm * Tsmsm is now known as Tanan [Leah] Maybe we'll even get a chance to meet the legendary Johnathan! * Niri piles into the Destiny, almost landing in Angie's lap! "Oops, sorry. :/ Whatcha writing there?" That'd be helpful, Leah. [Shiro] woof woof! *He seems happy when you mention that name* * Vytor counts heads to make sure everyone is accounted for. * Tanan comes hurrying up, hauling his stuff. "Hold on, wait up!" * Angie grins like a cheshire cat. "Just getting down some notes on what's been going on." Glad you could join us, Professor. Hey Tanan. * Saki walks across, apparently done; she hops up without much ceremony onto the back of the Destiny, standing in the cargo bay to take stock of the horizon and weather. * Tanan looks sheepish. "Sorry, got a little sidetracked." * Trune hauls himself up from his sitting position and shoulders his backpack, "No worries. I don't think we woulda left without you, anyway." The weather is fair, and the temperature a bit chilly. * Angharad climbs inside the cargo bay and finds a seat where she won't be jostled around too much by the movement of the vehicle. * Tanan grins. "Maybe not, but I certainly would feel silly if I showed up and everyone was gone." The horizon has a very clouds, and the sun is nearing it's overhead noon position. « er very few clouds » Is this everyone? But then you could go off and party somewhere maybe. Or learn to waterski. Or invent the perfect recipe for macaroni and cheese. * Tanan looks at Niri for a few seconds. Huh. Hadn't thought of that ...maybe I'll go wander off ag- ...headmistress would probably kill me. With her brain. Oh well. Probably * Angie claps the book shut in her hand and slips the pencil behind her ear. "I'm good." If everyone's here, let's load up then. * Saki settles back in the cargo bay with a vaguely amused grin, leaning back against the cab. Hmm, the brain as a lethal weapon. Wonder how you'd do it? Bad images of your worst fears? The worst song ever being stuck in your head? Leah laughs a little bit. You never saw one of her demonstrations, Trune? If you mean by the 'squishing someone's brain like a grape', then no! What'd she do? Well, I don't think she ever did that. At least not any time recently. But she did like.. make stuff float, and break some stuff. I tried to learn how but it's apparently really hard if you don't have the gift. Kinda like how only certain people can do that long-range telepathy thing, I suppose. Yeah, Haylee's kind of weird but also awesome. I saw her bend a spoon once. I thought that was awesome, though kinda not very practical. * Ryllan pauses at the driver's door, "If anyone else wants to drive... speak up." Yeah, I can bend a spoon easily! I do it all the time. :P Why do you have to use your brain to do it? * Angharad doesn't say anything. She's fine with Ryllan driving. Well Ryllan, I do, but no one will ever let me! Fine by me. It's the whole 'mystique' of it! The whole point is not to actually bend it with your hands. You could bend two spoons at once? * Vytor tosses his pack into the carge hold, and jumps in after it. I... don't mind if Niri drives, as long as she promises not to drive like her dad. And I mean that wholeheartedly, that man is scary. Awesome, but scary. * Saki leans over the side towards the cab, deadpanning. "I believe I established that Niri and Trune are barred from driving." * Vytor settles in and gets comfortable I swear this is age discrimination! No offense taken, Tanan, I know he's scary! ^_^ And yeah. Saki has never even SEEN me drive. *Pouts* [Leah] Well, you have to be a little scary to face down legendary beasts! I humbly submit that you do not also have to drive like that. * Saki crosses her arms, raising one eyebrow. "I'm allowed to guess. If it helps, consider Angie on the list too." ...it was bad enough getting tossed around by Mercury... * Angie glares at Saki and juts out her lower lip defiantly. * Angharad can't resist a low chuckle at Saki's den mother approach. * Vytor grins, but says nothing, knowing better Yeesh, Saki, what would you do if you were bleeding to death and there was no one to get you to emergency care except me, Trune, and Angie? * Tanan crosses his fingers As the group prattles on, Ryllan gives the Destiny the gas and you proceed to get out of Dodge for the moment. Not much left for you hear. It seems Emiria hasn't deigned to see you off, contending with her own business of rebuilding Takkar for the moment... « gah, nix for for the moment. » « hear = here » * Saki frowns for a long moment. When she speaks she's still deadpanning. "... ... take a ballot. Or bleed out. Or both." * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 12: Alma-Matters | Location: Takkar to Hylan Road | Pools: 937 §, 3 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ | OOC chan: #iog-ooc ' * Niri rolls her eyes at Saki Right then, nice to know where we stand n'all. * Vytor kicks back and hums a jazzy travelling tune. ^_^ * Tanan discreetly pumps his arm in a little victory gesture, murmuring "knew she'd say that." As the settlement fades in your rear-view mirror, you are reassured that it suffered little damage from the sudden attack. Either the defenders were very strong, or the prophetess even more pinpoint in her strike at the leadership. * Saki huffs in amusement, actually giving Niri a grin back before settling back into travelling position. Though behind you is another failure, the smells of nature and the open road invigorate you for successes to come! * Niri sticks her tongue out at Saki! ...then fastens her seatbelt * Vytor seems pleased that the group is beginning to lighten up with each other. * Trune mutters something about heading back home as he gets into a more comfortable position, this time actually near one of the windows as opposed to the cargo hold. * Angharad tries to make herself comfortable for the long ride. * ZackKH2 is now known as Zack Shiro sticks his tongue out a window as the Destiny XL Land cruiser charges ahead, bumping over a small creek and a few scattered lumps of dirt. Ah to have a paved road for just a minute... a luxury civilization does not have everywhere yet. Hey Angharad? * Niri ruffles Shiro's head! Hm. Yes? Angharad gets a nice whiff of fresh pine, and it's associated forest scents. Shiro looks up and starts licking Niri's hand, trying to catch it but always being a little behind or at the wrong angle. It's simple amusement for both of them. How do you feel about all this? I mean, all this craziess going on. You've been kind of quiet about it all. * Niri giggles, then looks over to pay attention to the conversation as she scritches Shiro. * Saki apparently dozes, or meditates, or does something at least involving sitting back and closing her eyes. Every so often at a given noise or scent she'll open one eye to peer around. I don't feel... much... at all about it. It is likely bad, since the Prophetess is causing issues for so many people, but bad things happen. * Angharad shrugs. * Trune is back to being somewhat withdrawn. He's staring out the window, lost in thought. If it was not her, it might be something else. So it doesn't bother me so much. It's another trial we undergo as people. That's all. Interesting point of view. True, but you're involved more directly than most. That's got to count for something beyond simple aknowledgement of the issue. * Angie looks away from the window, leaving a little mark where her nose had touched the glass. "I do kinda wonder! If she does kill all the truth seekers, will she just go away?" ...That'd be nice. Well, the going away. Not killing the Truth Seekers. Probably not immediately. I think she's killing them so that she can do something. [Leah] That's a real good question. We don't know anything about her goals. I mean, she's not just killing them. She could do that easily enough. She's.. draining them. Taking their essence. * Saki opens her eyes again, frowning now in thought. She nods to Tanan as he speaks, agreeing with him. ... You know, that's a really good and really obvious point, Tanan. Am I? More involved, that is. I don't see I how I am any more than those people in Takkar. What DOES she want with their spirits? [Leah] I almost looks like she's borrowing it, the way they just get all comatose and stuff... « er it » That suggests that they could be fixed.. and that maybe she needs them for something. Either just more power in general and they have it, or theirs specifically. What'd she say, another coming? Another coming of what? That's the question. * Trune frowns, "Maybe...nah." Well, you're more involved in that instead of simply being involved in the situation, you're involved in pursuing it for posible better understanding. Its one thing to come across something unique. Its another to follow it. * Tanan looks between Vytor and Angharad. "And depending on what she's doing, it might not be something anyone can just afford to ignore." * Saki looks across, speaking up. "If ...it helps, I've had none of the disjointedness around the Seekers as I have around the Prophetess." It's all well and good to not be involved until it's too late. * Vytor looks over at Saki as she speaks * Angharad shakes her head at Vytor. "I don't follow you. I have no stake in this. Hylan is somewhat on the way back to the Pentagon. That's why I'm still with you." I suppose the depends on if you want to let this go when you get where you're going. * Tanan looks at Saki. "That might be important. I wish we knew more about that." Well, Angharad, I think it's fun having you around! * Angharad seems to consider saying more to Vytor, but softly closes her jaws. Instead she turns to Niri and bows her head thoughtfully. "Thank you." ^_^ Yeah. I mean, obviously it's not exactly pleasant, some of the stuff we're running up again...but we're certainly not bored, I guess. * Saki shrugs helplessly. She really does look apologetic. "I've honestly got no idea. I may get bad at the Academy, though; last time it was like a low, constant buzzing in my mind." Shior arfs at Angharad. He certainly appreciates the company of another furry white creature, you figure. * Angie frowns and cocks her head. "At the academy? That's weird. She wasn't around then, right?" * Vytor goes back to his contented humming, listening to the banter around him. He seems pleased to hear it. Hmmm. That is a good question. Saki? * Trune glances at Vytor, trying to figure out what song he's been humming for the past 5 minutes and why the hell he hasn't gotten bored with it yet. * Saki twists around to nod at Angie. She seems remarkably lucid. "Or at the ruins. It seems like..." She frowns, then tries again; "I think willforce doesn't help." * Niri unconsciously finds herself humming in harmony with Vytor. ^_^ * Trune glances at Niri, then Vytor, then Niri again, and realizes the terror ...er humming, is spreading like a virus. I give it fifteen minutes. * Niri blinks at Trune, still humming. "What?" So...much humming. What do you mean, humming? Fifteen minutes and everyone'll be doing it. or asking if we're there yet. It's bugging me because I have no idea what you're humming, and now it's stuck in my head! The car chugs along through the wooded path, losing sight of the sun at some points. The animals & birds scurry away from the roar of the engine, and a few bushes seem to uproot themselves and move out of the way. o_O [Ambush] *scurry scurry* * Saki returns to her perch, keeping her head down; she doesn't need to get a branch to the face, thanks. They also seem to be panting from the effort. Weird mutant plants. I'm humming? * Niri blinks, then stops. Oops. * Vytor can't help, it and starts laughing * Niri blinks, catching a glimpse of something moving out of the corner of her eye. * Trune grins and can't help chuckling either, "I prefer words." Just so you know, Trune, its hard to sing to a song that has no words ;) It's hard to sing period. Er...what's that? *points to the bushes* Ambushes. ...Okay. Is that going to be a problem, or can we just sit in here and point and laugh at them? What? An ambush? Who's out on the r- ...More likely tahn you'd think. ... Than * Tanan relaxes. "That is the worst name for a plant. Ever." Most Ambushes will shy away from something this big and noisy. So why are they following us? Hmm. * Saki stares flatly at Vytor, and then huffs out another breath, lowering her head. And yeah, I agree with Tanan. I bet Angie named them! :D Ambushes have been around for ages. Though that is kind of an Angieish name. * Angie leans her head against the window and stares ahead through half-lidded eyes. "You caught me," she deadpans. * Vytor gives Saki a look, "What? I didn't name them." Bad Angie, no biscuit! :D Shiro looks like he wants to go chase the ambushes. Biscuits are really good. Especially with butter and honey. ...They are. :D * Angie pats the bag she had been shouldering back in Takkar. "Biscuit nothing! I've got takkar sausage and toffee in here." [Leah] ..you're making me want breakfast again. Sometimes jam is good too. But nothing beats butter and honey. Also, I must be really, really bored. * Niri holds onto Shiro. "No, Shiro! Stay in the nice Destiny." Breakfast is good any time of the day. * Tanan grins at Leah. "It's only breakfast food if you think it is. Sounds like lunch food to me. or dinner." Time passes in idle chatter, as the spires of the Hylan Academy begin to break through the treetops! Hey, we're almost home! * Saki stands up in the back of the Destiny, turning around into Standard Lookout Position. * Trune sighs and begins to look nervous, figeting a bit in his seat. * Angie gathers herself, sitting up straight and tugging the wrinkles out of her coat. "Hokay, and ideas on how to do this? Niri, do you think your dad might have some sway?" Probably, yeah. And don't forget that I can talk to Haylee, too. In fact, that's probably the best plan. We'll see if I can get an appointment with her. There are, as usual two magic guards at the gate, but they recognize the Destiny immediately, paying you little heed. The doors leading to the thankfully paved highways of the city open to you effortlessly. The university town is it's usual self, alive with the bustle of students changing classes and grab their lunches. * Saki knocks lightly on the cab's roof. "Seeing Haylee herself shouldn't be a problem. We are in her personal employ, after all." Guess things are calming down. * Tanan waves to a guard as the party goes by. And if we can't see her, then... Well, at least this place is still standing * Trune shakes his head, seeming to relax a little, "I'm sure we'll get to see her." * TheStoryteller changes topic to '-= Chapter 12: Alma-Matters | Location: Hylan Academy | Pools: 937 §, 3 MXP =- http://storen.rpgcafe.net/IoG/ | OOC chan: #iog-ooc ' Seeing her will be easy. The headmaster... that might be a problem. Your father, otherwise? * Trune nods, "Yeah. I'm hoping we'll see the Headmistress without a problem. It'll...be a lot easier." Yeah, but Haylee's the way to get TO the headmaster. And yeah, Dad might be able to help. Or even Mom, for that matter. Aren't they back at that pentagonal place though, Niri? * Angie fiddles with the drawstring of her satchel. "Maybe he died and they're keeping him frozen in the basement," she muses quietly. * Tanan stares at Angie Nah, word of that would get out. Professor Colbough is the most gossipy woman alive. She tells everyone everything, and then stuff you didn't want to know. Well, Mom should be around, at least. * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Ping timeout) There are many places to visit, being the stores, the residential area and the dorm, or the university compound itself, dominated by the large tower in the center of everything. * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Tanan sets mode: +o Vytor There are a few warning signs on the side streets, warning people to stay away from the site where they ar excavating the underground railroad. * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has left #lunar-iog2 * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Tanan sets mode: +o Vytor Wonder if she'll see us... quickly, that is. She's a busy woman. I imagine we won't have to wait too long. Something tells me she'll make time for this. I mean... * Saki idly watches the town go by, looking a little perturbed; the tower receives a somewhat dull stare. If she is concerned about the recent events as the group of you are, I think she'll make time. * Trune leans back into his seat, looking out the window, "Consideirng she's a target, I would bet she'd be interested in what we've got to say." * Ryllan drives right on by, heading towards the tower, "She'll see us." <> * Niri jumps out of the Destiny as soon as they reach their destination, and looks around for an intercom or a guard to try to get her message to Haylee Ryllan guides the destiny to the tall, intricately shaped building thats erves as the offices of the Hylan Academy Adept Guild. Two Adept Guards dressed in red, possibly the same ones you saw last time, a man and a woman, stand outside screening guests. * Angie hops out and stretches, holding her hands over her head, rising up on her tiptoes, and arching her back. She winces, then untenses suddenly with a grunt. "Ngh." * Vytor hops down from the Destiny, and stretches. Leah gets out, eager to stretch as well. "Whew, someone really has to invent teleporting one day!" A cheap and easy way to do it, anyway * Trune hops out as well, stretching. * Angharad climbs out of the Destiny and takes a good look at her surroundings as she twitches one ear. [Adept Guard] Ah, hello there! It's been awhile, sirs and madams. * Saki hops off of the Destiny as it grinds to a halt, and takes up position behind Niri as she looks for people to inform. Glaaare. [Adept Guard] Are you here to see the Headmistress? * Angie swats leah lightly. "Don't you be bitching about it! I've spent weeks making the same trip." Yeah, and if we could see her right away, too? It's really important! Extremely important. * Ryllan nods, "World-level." Yes, we need to see her at the earliest possible convenience. Or maybe earlier, if that works. I think we'd be willing to settle for earliest possible inconvenience. [Adept Guard] I assume it's more news about the attacks of the msyterious Prophet? * Angharad debates whether she should look for transportation back to the Pentagon now or after the group does their business. * Saki tries to keep up her glare in the face of an insane travelling group; it holds, just, but might become a notch or two more weary. That's right. [Adept Female Guard] *whispers something to herself* ...I've informed them of your arrival. Please go in. * Ryllan walks by, then pauses, "Thank you." He then continues in, walking quickly. * Trune relaxes even more, actually smiling and litterally letting out a sigh of relief, "Wow. Thanks, babe!" * Saki strides on in; she is perhaps looking a little tense. You enter the spacious lobby with must event, though the staff eyes Angahard a bit oddly. « er Angaharad » « bah :( » « Angharad » * Vytor follows the ground quietly. <> « and without much event » * Angie doffs her hat as she steps inside. The Adept quirks an eyebrow at Trune for a minute, smiling slightly. * Trune smirks back at the Adept, waves, and follows the group inside. * Tanan walks in * Angharad shrinks into herself as much as a large wolf person can and reluctantly follows the group inside. * Vytor gives Angharad a reassuring look A secretary is sitting at a desk by the VIP glass elevator that leads to the upper floors. * Saki makes a nasty face at the lift, and mumbles something incomprehensible to herself, standing a little off to one side from the group and looking uncomfy. She begins to say her daily rote. "...names please? You'll have to sign in and present your appointment slip..." She straightens her rather large glasses. "...oh, it's you." Saki? You getting that.. what'd you call it, buzzing again? * Saki drags a hand back through her hair and nods, breathing out a sigh. "It's... easier." She smirks without humour. "Probably because last time I was running on exhaustion." * Angharad notes Saki's condition with some concern. "If it becomes intolerable let us know." I assume taht means we can go up? She presents the register for you to sign. "Just a formality, you understand." * Tanan nods. "Let us know if we can do anything" * Ryllan nods, signing the register quickly. [Secretary] Oh, and Ms. Niri. There was Mrs. Lucia Salyan who passed through here not long ago. * Saki nods curtly, and signs her name. "If it gets intolerable I'm fairly sure you'll notice." * Vytor slides a look at Saki, but having an idea of what she means, lets it go. * Trune signs the register, looking annoyed at all of these formalities. * Angharad scratches out her name, a rather clumsy signature, and wonders if it matters that she does not have a last name. * Tanan signs the paper, or more accurately scribbles on it. Session Time: Sat Apr 29 00:00:00 2006 [Secretary] She told me to let you know if you returned that she'll be staying in the area for a short while, on her way to Hiro's dig site. * Vytor signs his name, figuring he'll play along with the formality The desk clerk looks at Angharad's scratched out signature, as it nearly ripped through her paper. She frowns slightly, then closes the book once everyone is done. [Secretary] Thank you. 10th floor for her office. Although you probably knew that by now... Yeah, we still remember. Thanks, though! * Ryllan nods, "Thank you." And dashes off towards the elevator. * Saki files into the elevator, settling into a back corner with a grimace. "... I hate these things." * Vytor nods to the secretary, and sets off for the elevator Why? * Tanan follows Ryllan at a somewhat more dignified pace, waiting for everyone to get in * Angie piles in, getting stuck near the door again. "Afraid of heights, or small spaces?" * Saki nods towards the transparent walls. "... I'd much rather not see where I'm going." * Angie grins, but she looks a bit uncomfortable too. Leah piles in, holding Shiro in her hands to make room for everyone. The elevator is as you recall it, no buttons at all, and the display meter which read "1". The walls are ornately decorated, with spaces where it becomes translucent to see out of when you move. The willforce interface awaits command. Everyone onboard? * Tanan reaches out to touch the wall, and concentrates * Vytor crams himself into the elevator * Niri crams in with everyone else! * Trune nods and get squished once more. Going up, then! Wow this is rather familar. Also, ow, damn! That was my elbow, someone! Then quit sticking it in my eye! That someone is a real jerk. * Angharad tries not to squish people too badly. You know, if we had any brains, we'd go up in groups How did he get his elbow in.. ok, they need a bigger elevator that was my foot... But we're also impatient. Eleveator! Floor 10 before we maul each other! That's not my elbow, Niri! That's Vytor's I think! * Angie seems to be getting the worst of it, being short, but at least she has the door at her back. She leans against it and stares up at the ceiling. No wonder I think I have a black eye! * Saki stays bunched and huddled up in the corner, muttering to herself under her breath a little more with her eyes closed; this one is vaguely audible, though, and seems to be a mantra of some sort for relaxation. I wondered what that was. Sorry Niri. Next time I should sit on Trune's shoulders. It resonds immediately to his thoughts, closing the door quite quickly and smushing the motley crew in tightly! With a flush of energy, it shoots up at a good pace. ... You'd crush him. You'd crush h- Aw. Hah! Don't do that. She would NOT crush me! What the hell?! She's bigger than you! Hey now! or as big as, anyway Wha, Niri? Are you joking? For reference, someone is standing on my foot. No comments about my weight please thanks! ;_; * Niri looks hurt :/ You're like two inches around, Trune! ...You must have a really good metabolism, honestly. Heh, thanks! ...I think. But don't judge a book by it's cover. She totally wouldn't crush me. Meanwhile apparently I am a whale butt. The clear walls allow you to oversee the Academy grounds beneath you. So many people seeing enlightenment.. the future of the Blue Star. Will this world be safe so they can inherit it one day? Nah. Trune would break under a stiff breeze ...and I'm pretty sure something just bit my knee. No! But that was kind of a funny reaction. You're pretty normal sized. Whale b- I mean, Niri. That's okay, Niri. Apparently I'm a wuss! * Tanan smiles as innocently as possible. We should gang up on those two in their sleep, whaddya say? * Niri gives Trune the look of death! I'm dead. ...But you do have an idea there. Just try it, Trune. * Ryllan grins. Awesome, a challenge! * Niri rubs her hands together, plotting * Saki speaks up, eyes still closed; even then she's not even looking in the direction of the windows. "That benchpress bet is still open, if they need calming down." So should I expect to see you in my room, then? No. Ninja cannot be seen by naked eye. * Angie closes her eyes and slumps back against the door. "Auggggh," she whines, "you guys never stop!" Oh my too much information. * Tanan concentrates on the door opening. <> The elevator slows and comes to a stop at the top floor. The door open, and you are greeted by the smell of fresh sumemr scents and the soothing music that Haylee pumps into the hallways. The relaxing feeling from before immediately overtakes you, relieving stress and axiety. « er anxiety » * Vytor waits his turn to get out of the elevator Ahh. We're here! Ladies, gentlemen, and people plotting my murder please exit the elevator. * Angharad squeezes out and allows her joints to uncompress. * Angie stumbles backwards into the room as the door opens behind her. She stands up, looks around surreptitiously, and straightens out her clothes. Why thank you, Dead Man walking. ;) Can we discuss murdering each other AFTER we've saved the world? You know, just to keep things in order? The two potted plants lead the way left or right. Hiro went left last time you were here... * Trune heads out of the elevator with a slight smirk. We can plan one while we do the other. Multitasking, man. * Saki strides out when she can, and shrugs helplessly in Angie's direction. "... you get vaguely used to it." * Tanan follows people out. "At least this gives me time to get my will in order. I want to be cremated and I want my ashes dumped on whoever killed me." Anyway! * Niri heads in the general direction of Haylee's office! * Tanan gestures left. "This way, I think." * Angie laughs nasally at Tanan's joke, shaking her head and grinning. She follows along, checking out the decor as she goes. "I've never been up here," she says after a while. * Vytor puts his hands behind his head, and walks after the group. I haven't all that often myself. A couple times is all. Taking a left at the junction, it soon comes to an end before a very large dorr. It looks like it is made of glass, but you cannot see through it, only blackness. * Angharad looks around the hall with interest, having never been here before. * Niri raps on the glass. "Headmistress Haylee? Hello?" Angharad can identify the smell as fresh lilacs and orchids. The music is just a gentle humming that functions almost better than any instrumental by itself. It is one of Haylee's custom made ones. * Niri hums along with it! * Vytor refrians from humming along. He prefers something jazzier. As Niri reaches up to rap upon it, it begins to shift it's nature. The material becomes clear as crystal... before then washing out colors even further, and vanishing like it was never there. Whoa! Flashy. I want one for my birthday. Beyond it you can see the blonde haired headmistress sitting at the head of a large conference table, made out of similar material. There are sets of windows at eaither side, affording a lovely view of the academy-city. We'll see. Maybe if we save the world before then. Nice trick Strangely enough, there is a bowl of fresh pears sitting in simple bowl in the center of the table. Headmistress. Thanks for seeing us « ahem. Green hair ^_^ » * Angharad notes the pairs and finds them an odd addition to a work environment. <> Hi Haylee! We uh, kinda need your help... * Saki files in after the group, taking up the same position as last time - leaning against the back wall. She looks a little stilted and nervous, but far more in control than her last paranoid self. Hello Headmistress. [Haylee] Welcome back, everyone. And new companions. I've been waiting for you. Have you? * Vytor waves to Haylee. She points to several chairs arrayed around the table. The silver ones you remember being extremely comfy. You probably knew we were coming before we did, eh, Madam Haylee? * Ryllan takes a seat. * Niri flops into a comfy chair! * Vytor settles into a chair * Trune sits down in a chair as well, "Damn, forgot how comfy these chairs were." * Tanan stays standing until he's sure there's enough chairs for everyone who wants one * Angie takes a side seat affording her a good view of the office. She nods and smiles at Haylee, but her attention wanders quickly to the objects that decorate the room. [Haylee] You could say that. I've been monitoring your progress since we last spoke. I suppose that saves us the need to make introductions, then. * Angharad manages to settle into a chair, though she doesn't seem comfortable about it. [Haylee] And, it seems another one of my old friends has fallen to the Prophetess... how is Leon doing? Comatose, like the others? Yep. Unfortunately, yeah... * Tanan nods. "Almost exactly the same, it looked like." Haylee, do you think any of them will recover? :/ * Tanan slips into one of the remaining free chairs * Saki remains against the wall. She's listening, but seems a little unfocused. [Haylee] Since last we met, I've been trying to trace where the willforce of their souls is being sent to. I have a hunch, but it isn't definite yet. * Angie pipes in. "She isn't just keeping it?" she asks curiously. [Haylee] If we can shatter that prison wherever it lies, their energy should return quickly. [Haylee] It is somewhere to the south of us... that much I know. very far south. * Vytor considers this Beyond the mapped regions? * Trune hmms, "Probably." ...Ahh. So there's hope! Haylee nods once, resting her arms on the slick surface of the table. That's encouraging. But uh...Haylee, we were kind of hoping we might be able to find out more about the nature of the Prophetess and her abilities. We're kind of thinking she reminds us of the Headmaster, to be honest. Or the stories they tell about him, anyway Her magic...the way she can manipluate time and demensional space...it's a lot like what the Headmaster can do. [Haylee] She is using a very simlar form of Johnathan's time and space manipulation, yes. It's frightening how similar it is, and it is possibly even greater... * Trune blinks, "Even greater?" ...Greater? O_o Greater. You've got to be kidding me. ...That's downright terrifying. Can I go crawl under a blanket now? Do we know of any way to counteract it? Unsettling. [Haylee] Don't you think that if it was not, we would have solved this diellma by now? She is only able to avoid detection because she knows how our powers work better than we do. She seems to appear when we're nearby. We're not sure why. "ordained witnesses to the second coming", she said. Yeah, what do we have to do with all this? She called us witnesses... [Haylee] There is a way to coutneract the effects , though, and we are working on something to negate her abilities if she comes near to the Academy. Fortunately, she has kept her distance, chasing other less defended seekers out. * Angie stares down at her feet. She moves her toes together and then apart again, glaring intently at them. Might it be possible to track US some how, letting us give you a signal to show up? * Angharad listens to the conversation, but her expression is neutral, as though the gravity of any of this has no effect on her, or perhaps it is because some of the names and the powers simply do not register with her. Can you tell us anything morea about this? [Haylee] Witnesses? * Saki is up against the wall, eyes closed and lending an ear to the conversation. Haylee considers this a moment. That's what she said. And she called us 'seekers' Haylee immediately looks up. [Haylee] Did she...? That's.. interesting. * Trune closes his eyes and leans forward slightly, massaging his temples. He looks troubled. Ca you elaborate on that? [Haylee] Perhaps that is why she hasn't struck you down. Youv'e come so close to her twice, without barely a scratch. Any idea what it might mean? * Huw is now known as Susan Barely a scratch? Tell Saki that. ^^; * Zack is now known as Michael She's seemed reluctant to do serious damage to anyone other than the truth seekers so far. [Haylee] She wants you to grow stronger... you may be a part of her plans. I am beginning to think that the old "Truth Seekers" she is targetting did her work for her back on Lunar... ...and she wants something done here now? That'd fit. [Haylee] Tell me, have you read the prophecy penned by this "Prophetess"? She definitely could have squished us whenever she wante.d Her work? What do you mean? It's about you. * Angie looks up with an incredulous frown. "Wait, what? Why would she be killing them if they helped her before?" ...Maybe because she's done with them? Or there's something ELSE she wants them to do... Something spiritually? [Haylee] It could be. What we did long ago saved this world from destruction.. but it also fufilled her wishes to the letter. And now, the last words are coming true. What were those words? Something about the Goddess... dying? Reveling in her blood? I don't get what that's supposed to mean. [Haylee] It is true the heretical writing of the Age of the Prophets talked about Althena's death, but I'mr eferring to the much better known tale. Haylee clears her throat. * Saki opens her eyes now, confused but curious. * Angharad listens, a little more intently now. * Trune listens as well. The room darkens a bit, as atale is recounted to you with unspoken words in your minds... * Angie (foon@stjhnbsu83w-156034199208.nb.aliant.net) Quit (Quit: ) The image of a temple forms in your mind's eye, speaking the final words: This is the room built by the ancients.. heroes, may you pay heed to the words that lie herein upon these sacred walls, for they are the last legacy of The Prophets: When the Goddess Althena saved us from our own evil impulses, those that crushed the Blue Star.. she created a land in Heaven full of life named Lunar, and placed us there. However, this paradise was a falsehood.. As the years passed, and the Dragonmasters faded from memory, there arised those who questioned our existence. A forbidden secret even the mighty dragons did not share with the Goddess... One day there would come the successor to her power, and the events would be set in motion. Lucia, last of the Goddess tribe.. through love and sacrifice she would be the one to gain the infinite knowledge. Zophar shall be banished once more by her hand, but his return is inevitable. He will try to corrupt the innocent soil of the utopia once again. However, He is not what you were truly born to seek. You were revealed to the mighty oracles as the ones to discover the great secret, and save this world once and for all from the cycle of doubt and destruction... For Truth itself is that which is indefatigable. Overpowering might nor blind ambition will grant you it. This lesson we learned at the expense of our very souls.. But the power of humanity.. once it has taken shape.. empowered by the knowledge gleaned over the ages.. It will be eventually grow greater than the Goddess. With this power, you shall reshape what you see.. forge your own destiny.. Man's own world, free of Heaven's influence.. It is this future whom we, The Prophets, have prepared the way for.. and here in silent repose we shall remain, until the day comes when Mankind is ready for the veil to be lifted from its clouded eyes. You are going to correct the mistake made ages ago.. You are the brave souls that we have ordained as saviors.. that all time may hail you as the "Truth Seekers". >> The image fades, and you are back in the room with Haylee. I....don't get it. * Vytor blinks Aren't you already hailed as...? [Haylee] ..that was what we discovered in the ruins of Lionhead 20 years ago. It had mentioned all of our rare magics by name as well. She knew what we were going to do... and that Zophar would return someday. We believe that her reappearance has something to do with it. * Saki is gritting her teeth and looking in pain just as last time Haylee decided to beam words into her head; a fist bunches for a moment before she apparently manages to relax back a little. * Tanan closes his eyes, sitting back. [Haylee] But if this Prophecy was fufilled by us, what of the sleeping Prophets? Are the Truth sekkers a way to reawaken them from their slumber? [Haylee] Already we've encountered dark forces seeping into the world through hidden channels. Soul that are not quite right... ...Lucia, last of the goddess tribe? * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Connection reset by peer) * Tanan opens his eyes and looks at Niri. Huh? What? * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Ping timeout) * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 [Haylee] Yes, Lucia. Your mother... Souls? What do you mean? * Tanan sets mode: +o Vytor If you don't mind me asking, ask is this "mistake" you corrected? <> * mikey (~mikey@69.234.141.72) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Trune So, this prophecy was talking about my mother? What's it supposed to mean, though? [Haylee] It's a good question. The mistake was supposedly the creation of Lunar in the first place by Althena. The Prophet's philosphy believed it was as much a salvation of the race after the great war on the Blue Star as it was a cage for our further progress. Also, how much of that has happened and hasn't? I mean, Zophar came back and got beaten, then you and the other seekers.. did.. something, and..? * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Connection reset by peer) So... bringing everyone back to the Blue Star was the prophecy you fulfilled. * Lucca-away (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Lucca-away ...But Lunar was a wonderful place! And the Blue Star was almost destroyed and nearly unliveable....so how was it a mistake? * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Killed (Stelas (whap))) * Lucca-away is now known as Trune * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Connection reset by peer) [Haylee] That's right. We revived the Blue Star. It was Lucia's mission to do so. And Althena's wishes, along with the departed Queen Virtue. [Haylee] But, most of them are gone now, leaving us to wonder and find our own way through this. * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Trune * Saki is frowning, clearly mulling over something; she stays silent for the moment, however, letting everyone else work through their points. * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Tanan sets mode: +o Vytor So....what does all this mean as far as what the Prophetess wants now? * Vytor (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit (Connection reset by peer) * Lucca-away (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) has joined #lunar-iog2 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Lucca-away * Trune (~lucca@staff.lunarnet.org) Quit ([rpgcafe.nj.us.lunarnet.org] Local kill by Lucca-away (Ugh.)) * Lucca-away is now known as Trune ==PAUSE== * Trune is now known as Trune-away * Trune-away is gone (BRB!) * Trune-away is back (gone: 12mins 9secs) * Trune-away is now known as Trune * Vytor (~lucca@astound-66-234-202-70.ca.astound.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 We're having AWESOME adventures in connections tonight! I'm actually probably gonna go bitch at my provider because this is retarded. * Tanan sets mode: +o Vytor ==UNPAUSE== [Haylee] Niri, we're still trying to divine exactly what she wants, but the best leads we have now is that she wants our energy either to revive the slumbering Prophets, or to directly aid in Zophar's foretold return. ....Okay, that's bad news, right there. Why YOUR energy though? As opposed to anyone else's? [Haylee] Whatever is in the southern frontier, it is central to her plans. As soon as I can get a fix on it, I'd like you to investigate,. What's the big deal with the Truth Seekers? [Haylee] We ten were born with rare magics that helped combine and save Lunar's people when the Unraveling occured. * Angie (foon@stjhnbsu83w-156034199182.nb.aliant.net) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Trune sets mode: +o Angie * Saki puffs out a breath, fingering her temple. "... what did you mean by 'souls that are not quite right'?" So...she needs your magic for some powerful spell or something. [Haylee] Also, when the Blue Star revived partially, we kept a good deal of our powers through it all, while many lost the old ways of magic. So, in a sense, we are the pioneers of the new mental discipline known as willforce... this city around you has become the new Vane of it's study! [Haylee] It very well might be. We were part of a 'spell" once. You were? ...I'm also really confused about what my mom has to do with all of this. * Vytor tries to keep all this straight, with limited success I mean...I know some things, but... [Haylee] Saki, it is concerning the matters of possession that keep being reported. Like two souls dwelling in one body, or some with less than one, or a monstrous entitity. It's a side effect of the trasnfer that happened.. we didn';t understand it completely. * Angie slides down in her chair, sputtering. "It would be nice if we knew better just what happened in the Unravelling." But we do now? [Haylee] ..Lucia. She's.. very instrumental to the Unraveling. Hasn't she told you about it? * Saki nods softly, then leans her head back against the wall with her eyes closed. She looks... weary. * Trune glances at Niri, suspecting the answer already. The Unravelling was a mess... from what I remember of it. It doesn't seem like anyone remembers it very clearly.. * Angie peers at Angharad with new curiosity. "Do you remember it? My older brother does, but I don't at all." * Trune shakes his head, "I was born after the Unravelling...all I've heard about is from what I've read and a few people who have vague memories of it." Um...Mom's told me a few things. I guess that makes sense though, it must have been pretty chaotic * Angharad nods to Angharad. "I remember it. Parts of it more clearly than others. I was very young, but it was impossible to forget entirely." But to be honest, Dad tells me more. And I don't believe about half of it. [Haylee] Professor, it was a very tumultuous time, and stressful for many. The mind blocks out such trauma... * Saki mutters very quietly and almost dreamily under her breath, eyes still closed. "... fire. And pain. ... everything broken." ...Maybe I should. <> * Niri blinks at Saki ... * Saki opens her eyes, then. She's cognisant, at least, and she shrugs lopsidedly. "I just remember... bits and pieces. They're all fractured, though. «ooc: +" » haylee furrows her brow a little bit, peering at saki. * Angie slumps a bit too low and quickly scootches back up into a proper sitting position. Her glasses dangle precariously at the edge of her nose until bumped back up with the back of her hand. [Haylee] I know this is all rather confusing to be told at once. That's putting it real mildly... [Haylee] We didn't even understand it fully at the time, ourselves. * Vytor rubs his temples [Haylee] The basics of what you must keep in mind are that the prophetess could have been said to have created us with her fortelling, and now she is taking that power back for some sinister purpose. And it seem that you've been chosen by her for something, too. If you really have been called "seekers". Maybe we're chosen to be her punching bags. * Angie makes a sour face. "Does that mean she's like a goddess?" she asks, looking a bit skeptical. [Haylee] People consider my husband a god, and she is yet stronger than he. That doesn't make him or her one, though. Lovely Not in and of itself, anyway. Haylee nods to Ryllan. [Haylee] We just have to find a way to stop her the next time she appears. We know the targets, it is the timing that is key. I assure you, we are not simply sitting here twiddling our thumbs. * Angie drums two nods glumly and lowers her head, drumming two fingers against her brow. "So...can John give us anything to help us out? I mean...even if she's more powerful than he is, he must have some way of countering or protecting against her magic, right?" It'd be nice to actually talk to John about all this, too. ...If he'll let us talk to him, that is. [Haylee] I mentioned before that we're working on a weapon to fight her and Zophar as well, and negate her willforce energies. It's not completely ready. Haylee considers. 'So, you wish to meet him face to face? It's not an honor many people recive." * Angie nods. "If he has the time." Neither is being singled out to 'bear witness' or whatever. No offense to you or him, ma'm, but it'd be really, really helpful. ...If he has TIME? I'm not sure that's the problem! I theorize that John hates humanity. *nods solemnly* * Trune can't help but snicker at Niri's comment. * Tanan chuckles a little. I don't think anyone here wishes to meet Johnathan for reasons of honor. Hates humanity? I somehow doubt that... Well, he sure doesn't want to TALK to any of them! Haylee blanches. "Hate humanity? No, no. It's just the weight of responsibility is difficult to bear, even with me by his side..." * Niri sighs. Yeah, sorry. It's just...meh. I couldn't stand being as alone as he is, if it were me. That's all. [Haylee] We're never really alone. *she taps her head* Heh. I guess so! Haylee stands up. [Haylee] Now then, you want to see Johnathan? Then answer me this question. * Vytor blinks at Haylee Three. <> << Should have said 42 >> (m) games <> [Haylee] If you are a Sekker, then you should be realizing that the Truth can be hidden in the most mundane of places. In fact, it is the simplest things that hide the profound secrets of life. This room is filled with such finery and glamour, but it's just an illusion. What is real? « er seeker » * Vytor is back (gone: -8296secs) What's real? Other than us? Pears. Definitely. ^_^ * Vytor opens his mouth to say something, then shuts it again and he thinks some more. * Angie eases herself out of the chair, looking around suspiciously at the surroundings as if they're suddenly less tangible. * Trune opens his mouth, then closes it, "I was gonna say that potted plant but I think Niri's idea is better." * Angharad doesn't answer the question, but sniffs the air and listens, trusting her other senses more than her eyes. * Niri reaches out for one of the pears to demonstrate! As soon as Niri reaches out for the bowl of pears, the entire office distorts and fades out like the door did before. o_O * Angie stares in shock at Niri, looking vaguely appalled. Whoa! How did you know? * Angie looks idly, slightly appalled, then blinks. ...? Um...I'm...not sure. The smell, maybe? * Angharad supposes she is no longer in a chair and stands up so she doesn't fall. You are all sitting aarund the table, but you're just hanging in space. Niri's still hanging onto the juicy, fresh pear. And...I like pears. ;_; The pears smell real. They do. I suppose fake food wouldn't make much sense. Also I was a lot happier with the illusion of a floor. * Vytor shrugs, figuring the answer is simple, if somewhat unfullfilling [Haylee] That's right! My husband loves pears. he'd never make an illusion of them! * Niri laughs. "I didn't know that. But he's got the right idea, pears are awesome." * Angie 's expression changes from shock to annoyance. She glares at Niri. Her ire is as short-lived as everything else, though -- when haylee speaks her attention shifts back her way. * Saki rubs at her forehead. "... and again we solve something through sheer grabbiness..." * Niri blinks at Angie, recoiling a bit. "What?" With that Haylee starts to vanish herself, though you can still feel the presence of her mind about. Replacing her is another aura, much sronger... could it be...? «ooc: YOUR MOM? » Johnathan Hylan, I presume? It's a pleasure. * Niri looks around, wondering if he's visible anywhere. * Vytor blinks again, finding all these sensations somewhat disorienting "Uh, hi, sir...?" . o O ( Where is he? Is this some kind of joke or something? ) * Saki shivers in a sudden burst of movement, pushing herself off the wall and looking around wildly. Huh? You okay, Saki? That's... * Trune stands up suddenly, "Saki..." Is something wrong, Saki? * Vytor sudenly feels uneasy, noting Saki's growing concern Saki, stay with us. * Johnathan (~Nehn@24.239.126.40) has joined #lunar-iog2 * Angie slips a hand inside her coat, watching Saki uneasily. * Angharad lays back her ears as she scans the room. * Angharad sets mode: +v Johnathan * Johnathan appears a few feet away from the party, seeming to step from almost nowhere. "Huh. Well done, that took you like no time at all compared to the senior faculty. There may be hope after all. Welcome." * Saki shudders for a moment, wobbly on her feet. "It's... it's her, or it's..." Saki screws her eyes shut for a moment, and forcibly brings her breathing slower. "... it feels a lot like her. But... different." * Vytor relaxes a bit, but only just * Niri waves, then blinks, realizing she is still holding the pear. * Trune nods in a surprisngly polite way, "Good Afternoon, Headmaster." * Ryllan moves to stand next to Saki, "Are you alright?" * Niri is mostly quiet, realizing maybe she kinda crossed the line when talking to Haylee. * Angie jumps, but the hand stays in the coat. After a second she lets her breath out and slowly untenses a bit, her shoulders slumping in relief. She takes stock of the situation, looking over the faces of the others and then finally at Johnathan. She licks her lips. Will you be all right, Saki? Saki? Are you ok? * Saki almost recoils from Johnathan's appearance, making a slightly strangled noise. Then in a moment she's up on her feet with an effort of will, and nods shakily. Sure enough, before you stands the young, pale skinned Headmaster of the Academy, Johnathan Hylan himself. His light brown hair pokes a bit out of his cloak's hood, which is rather plain considering his exalted station. He is not as imposing as the rumors might speculate. * Niri blinks, then holds out the pear. "Uh...is this yours, or can I eat it?" ^^; But the latent power surrounding this simple man is undenyable... surely your doubts shall be dispelled! But for now, he simply takes the pear from Niri with a knowing smile. == SESSION END == A knowing smile of pear love! Tah dah! NIRI IS DENIED THE PEAR Session Close: Sat Apr 29 01:59:24 2006
