So many question race through your heads for the enigmatic experiment, and it's hard to contain them all. Finally you get up the courage to try, after he takes a break from working on the ECC reapirs, leaving Angie to fiddle for awhile. Jupiter is sitting in a chair by one of the computer terminals, mumbling a few things to himself as he rips some stray wires that yet protrude from his skin out and onto the cluttered & cabled floor. So, um.... *looking a bit disconcerted that this guy is RIPPING WIRES from his SKIN* ...how is the repair work coming along? The Elementalor of Thunder heals up the damage extremely quickly though, energy feeding into him from this place's systems. You'd never think there was ever a cut or bruise. [Jupiter] The work? It's progressing well. Dr. Webbly should have functionality restored before the day is out. * Niri nods. "Um...what does that mean? I guess I still don't quite understand what happened to him. For that matter, I'm...not really sure what to make of YOU. * Trune shakes his head and tries to collect his thoughts after overhearing Niri and Jupiter talk. He looks a bit better than earlier, though he still looks tired. There's a definte excitement now, though, as stands up, praying he doesn't make an ass of himself. [Jupiter] *folds his arms* I could say the same thing about you. Humanity's changed a lot in 2000 years. [Jupiter] It seems you v/ooc bah << Poor Storen! >> [Jupiter] It seems you've forgotten the science behind what created myself and the robotic suit... ...You could say that. Having your world destroyed sort of tends to do that. Society rebuilt itself on another world, then moved back to this one eventually. It took a long time to make it habitable again, as I've heard, and the works not done yet by any means. << work's >> Uh...excuse me? Well, it's...well, to be honest...uh...what she said. [Jupiter] So you mean to say you went to the moon? * Niri blinks. "I...guess you could put it that way?" Jupiter glances aside, recalling something in the back of his mind. * Niri mutters to Trune, "It sounds kinda odd when he says it." We don't really call it that, but yeah, we did. [Jupiter] ...I see. It was certainly within mankind's capabilities to do so, though I'm surprised you... revived Earth? [Jupiter] It is hazy, but I had a mission.. I wasn't just a weapon alone. * Niri scratches her head. "I'm not really clear on that either. It's all kind of fuzzy." She blinks. "What mission was that?" [Jupiter] The Elementalors... I and my 7 brothers & sisters were charged with activating if the planet was ever rendered unlivable or human life was wiped out in the aftermath of the final battle... * Niri blinks. "Oh." * Niri glances at Trune to see what he makes of this That was your purpose? But...that would mean it's changed now, right? * Trune seems rather confused. This throws a monkey wrench in his theory (not that his theory has already had tons of holes punched in it). [Jupiter] It was a doomsday scenario.. but it seems that something like that did occur, but I was not activated properly. I wonder why? [Jupiter] I intend to find out. I must re-establish contact with the others. I probably cannot sense them because they are also sleeping, and the network is down. * Trune shakes his head, "This is so different than what I thought it'd be..." What did you think it'd be like? Since, as far as I know, you're the only one who really suspected the existence of the Elementalors at all... Well... Jupiter scrutenizes Trune a moment. * Trune looks rather excited, but embarrassed as well, as if he knows what he says could be accidentally offensive, "Well, I knew nothing about all of this human weapon stuff. I really thought you guys existed, and were sentient, but see, uh, how to explain this..." Well...y--- * Trune 's face blanks a moment, "...Yeah, I can. So it really was you." [Jupiter] Trune, was it? You seem to be very sensitive to my powers. I guess you can say I've been researching you guys somewhat, just in a different way. I didn't count on this though. [Jupiter] Perhaps it was exposure to the ECC, but you are quite psycho-active. Telepathy seems to come naturally to you. * Niri blinks, staring at Trune. She looks confused. Am I missing something? Uh. Well. . o O ( Fuck. ) I can...sort of...hear what he's thinking. In my head. ... ... ... yeah. [Jupiter] *turns to Niri* Apparently your friend can pick up the thoughts of powerful minds such as mine. << *Giggles* >> ....Whoa, really? Wonder how that works...so, when you were acting funny before, it wasn't because you're nuts or just being annoying, but because you could hear him? * Niri turns to Jupiter. "So...he picked up on your thoughts while you were...sleeping?" * Trune gives Niri a look, "I'm not nuts, but yeah I could hear him. I can see some stuff too, though that's a lot rarer." [Jupiter] Possibly. It may have been his mind that triggered my rage, conducted through the ECC. Um. Oops? But everything's okay NOW, at least. Sure doesn't look like we hurt you, either. * Trune looks sheepish, "Sorry about that. But...actually, I don't think it's just the staff. I've had this ability for a bit before I actually got my hands on it." [Jupiter] In this place, my powers are only limited by the energy output of the natural-earth magneto turbines beneath the Pentagon. [Jupiter] Thankfully for you, I was very disoriented and weak from having just revived... [Jupiter] Yes, Trune. A long time ago such things were very rare. Those true psychic that existed were used for many a secret project and died to create things like myself. *he frowns* We're still really sorry about all of that. We didn't want to fight. * Niri sweatdrops. "Uh, yeah, I was just lucky I was able to shield a few of us from the lightning..." * Trune frowns as well, "Really?" Wait, psychics created you? But...what do you mean died? Session Time: Sun Mar 05 00:00:00 2006 Well, think on it, Niri. There was a lot of energy and experiementation on them. They were probably pushed to the limits of their abilities. Probably some of them were pushed to the breaking point. [Jupiter] Correct. That research led to the development of boosters and control circuits to channel it, eventually culminating in the creation of artifical life solely meant to control power. ...Oh. Seems kind of a waste... And also very sad. [Jupiter] ... I don't know what kind of world this was in the past, but as much as I love excavating ruins, I'm sure glad I didn't live back then. Sounds pretty terrible. * Niri looks very depressed! [Jupiter] It is depressing, but was also deemed necessary. Not many people even knew about what was going on until the final days. Times've changed now, though. Have you felt anything...strange lately? I don't know how aware you are while sleeping, but... Why WAS it necessary? I Why WAS it necessary? I've never really understood why the war started in the first place. :/ [Jupiter] ...people have always been at war. History is rife with conflict. Whether over resources or ideology. [Jupiter] But, i can tell you that the Devestation War as it is called, was the result of one man's actions... Zophar. ...Wait, WHAT? One man? But...Zophar wasn't a man! Zophar...a man? [Jupiter] He was a man, as far as I know.. though he actually proclaimed himself a god at one point. I don't know exactly what happened. He must have changed a lot in the years. From what I've heard, he's more or less a demon. [Jupiter] I was deactivated before the campaign against him was finished. Perhaps that campaign is what destroyed this world. From everything I heard, he was the god of destruction, or something like that. My dad says he fought him. ...It was. If I remember right. [Jupiter] You mean to say he is still alive...? Was. Niri's dad supposedly kicked his as---er...defeated him. S'why Niri's family is sort of famous. He was revived. But my dad killed him...hopefully permanently. To be honest, I never believed half of Dad's stories... [Jupiter] ...I suppose it's not impossible. I am still breathing. My body would have broken down centuries ago without the stasis chamber. Maybe that was a mistake. :P What I want to know is how can one man fuel an entire war that destroys a whole planet? He had to be one serious psychopath. [Jupiter] from my knoweldge base, I know that he was a hero of the Third World War, who rose to the position of Scretary-General of the United Nations. It was, how could you say, a world governmental body that tried to foster peace after the conflict. That...makes no sense. How could someone who was promoting peace do something that goes entirely against it? Did he go insane? Did the power get to him? [Jupiter] That I can't say for certain. I only know that as the government imposed rules on the world to stop future violence, it became an iron fist over all the demoralized countries. Especially the United American States. ....Wait, Secretary-General? Is that anything like Defense Secretary? [Jupiter] That led to the creation of secret projects like what you see here... * Niri rummages for the security disc. I see. Man, ironic that being so tight-assed about peace lead to that. [Jupiter] The position you refer to is the top ranking minister of the UAS president, in charge of the armed forces. [Jupiter] He authority was absolute over this facility. It was his Headquarters. « his » * Trune hmms, wondering what Niri is getting at. I see. That's how we got in here...my dad found this security disc elsewhere in the ruins. When we saw the systems were still functioning down here, and when we saw someone down here was still alive...we knew we had to investigate. So...this whole project. Was this part of the fight AGAINST Zophar? [Jupiter] Yes. [Jupiter] Now you see why people gave their lives for this. * Trune turns to Niri, "And your Dad killed this guy?" [Jupiter] If he did, I am grateful. ...Oh. Yes, I guess I do. *Sighs* Dad says Zophar tried to... *She shakes her head* Augh, and I never really entirely believed him about it! He said Zophar tried to use my mom and take her power in order to destroy Lunar, to remake it as something awful. He says he did, Trune. Hopefully for good. [Jupiter] Who is your mother? * Trune whistles, "Damn, I'm impressed." Her name is Lucia. She used to live here, before she went to Lunar and met my dad. [Jupiter] ....Lucia... Well, here on the Blue Star. I don't know where on it. Jupiter closes his eyes and ponders for a long moment. * Trune glances at Jupiter, then at Niri. [Jupiter] That name seems familiar. I don't know why. Suddenly the light flicker and Jupiter begins running the whole room of computers by thought again. They starts phantom typing searches and cross-references for this name. ...What the... Er. O_o He can't possibly know Lucia. I mean, he's (no offense to him or anything) OLD. Like...old,old. [Jupiter] Hmm. Yeah, I'm kinda confused about that too. O_o [Jupiter] I think I may be recalling a certain follower of the Cult of Althena. The Cult of Althena? Wait, yeah, the Cult of Althena? What he said. [Jupiter] It was a sect of the Catholic church who thought that a woman named Althena was the reincarnation of their "messiah" and would save them from "The End Days". She was a staunch opponent of Zophar and the UN. Catholic Church? End days? I've never heard of this before... [Jupiter] Lucia.. was a minor minister of that cult. It could be just a coincidence. It is not a rare name. Yeah, me either...but I've definitely heard of Althena. I've heard of Althena, but not connected to this...Catholic Church thing. [Jupiter] She had strange powers and worked miracles. We were trying to study her further, but never could get her cooperation. Let me see. Well, I know Althena was worshipped as the goddess who created Lunar and brought people to safety from the Blue Star after the war with Zophar. And...well, Dad says she left Lucia behind to keep watch over the Blue Star and slowly revive it. That always seemed kinda far-fetched to me, but...he says it's true! [Jupiter] Trune, it was one of numerous ideological institutions that existed. Some say it contirbuted greatly to the Third World War, a battle of it versus another monotheistic belief system in the Middle east. I...see. [Jupiter] Niri.. what is this 'Blue Star"? It's what we call uh...here. * Trune taps his foot on the ground, "Home, you could say." [Jupiter] It's an interesting title. It seems you forgot it was called "Earth". Earth? Yeah, I guess so....and what was it you called Lunar? The moon? [Jupiter] That's correct. We sometimes call the 'Moon' the 'Silver Star' as well. [Jupiter] Ancient called it Luna before that. * Niri nods! « er ancients » I guess names get changed and corrupted over time, huh? But...anyway, I don't really understand how, but now Lunar is as dead as it was before Althena made it capable of supporting life. :/ Kind of sad, I think. [Jupiter] ...hmm. And what of the goddess? [Jupiter] If it really was the same Althena I am recalling. She's not around anymore. Legend has it she became human and lived out a full life. * Niri shrugs! To be honest not that much is really known, except she's not alive anymore. [Jupiter] I'll accept your explaination for now. But this definitely has to be researched further. Like I said, my dad is full of stories and I don't know what's true and what's not. So...Jupiter...what's your plan now that you're awake? I mean, if you have one. [Jupiter] I'm going to find my brothers & sisters and see about their current status. Well... [Jupiter] There is an ancient network built for our use that needs to be restarted as well. [Jupiter] Perhaps then we could work to restore the world... it is definitely better than fighting an enemy that is dead. « er long dead » See, how do I explain this? I tried to earlier. I studied you guys, though I really didn't know the details of your purpose. But I had hoped that maybe we could be on friendly terms and help each other out.... * Trune smiles, "Yeah." Everyone on the planet is really just starting to explore it. It'd be beneficial to help each other. I think everyone has the same goal. Yeah! *Nods enthusiastically* Maybe...we could go with you and help you find them! * Niri warms to this new idea very quickly, her eyes shining! [Jupiter] Well, I can't remain here, knowing what I know now. * Trune holds his hand out, "To a partnership, then?" [Jupiter] Once the Doctor is fixed up, I have a mission I need your help with. Oh yeah? Jupiter eyes Trune's hand, looks at his own a moment quizzically, then shakes it firmly. Trune feels a static charge as the connection is made. Bzzt. * Trune 's hair sticks straight up. It's both adorable and retarded all at the same time. * Niri eyes Trune's hair. She reaches out with her palm out flat and pats at it curiously. "Heh. It's all sticking up and stuff!" It is? Oh man! [Jupiter] A .. partnership for now, then. Well, I hope you'll try to consider us friends! [Jupiter] I don't really have friends... [Jupiter] Or... I've never had the chance to, at least. Well, maybe this is a great time to give it a try then! :D I mean, I think it's just plain wrong not to have friends. Everyone deserves them. Even Trune here! ;D Ahaha yeah. * Trune coughs and looks a little uncomfortable. ...What? What'd I say? :P Er? No, nothing! Nothing really. Don't sweat it. You sure? You've been acting funny for a while now. :P Not that you usually act normal, or anything... Seriously, geez. I'm fine. Fine then! I was just trying to be nice, sheesh! I wasn't TRYING to be disagreeable but since you're excelling at that I'll take my leave so we don't bother our new friend here." * Niri had almost forgotten Jupiter. She gives him a sidelong, vaguely self-conscious glance, wondering what he thinks of their behavior. Obviously it's Trune's fault though, of course. [Jupiter] Is this what it's like to be friends? No. We're...not really friends. * Trune shrugs, "I'm sorry you had to see that. I'll be back later when she's cooled down a bit." We're...sort of friends! Kind of. But sometimes he makes me angry. *She looks sullen but apologetic* I'm...uh...sorry. I guess I should cool down. [Jupiter] You seem to care about each other like friends. It's why you are getting angry. * Niri blinks, apparently confused! * Trune heads towards another part of the room, perhaps to do more research. ^^; Didn't realize you had a degree in psychology! *Mutters* * Trune misses Jupiter's comment, which for now is probably fortunate! Jupiter looks betwen the two. "Perhaps we should continue this discussion later. You obviously need some time to relax. And there is still more work to be done." * Niri shrugs and decides maybe it was pointless to try to apologize anyway. ^^; "Um...yeah. Is there any work I can help with?" The Elementalor guides Niri over to help with things, as Trune researches in his little corner.
