Students and faculty both who have early classes are already waking up to face another ardous day in the Hylan Academy. But fortunately for our heroes, they are not among them... ah the joys of being an adventurer! * Vytor yawns and stretches, having slept in a very comfy bed Sleeping in sure seems like a good idea, as having a cozy bed in the faculty housing is better than what most of you have back home. * Saki is awake anyway, doing a little light training outside the block of rooms they were given; she looks like crap, and crap that's barely slept at that. The joys of being an adventurer! * Trune is already awake, sitting outside in the hall by himself. He's scribbling notes on a worn sheet of paper, ignoring everyone around him as he does so. The joys of being a loner! * Ryllan sits up and stretches anyway, figuring that there's very little point in sleeping in. * Vytor does a quick onceover to get cleaned, then starts gathering his stuff, thinking about finding a good breakfast * Vytor makes for the kitchen, not totally sure where one goes to eat in this place Niri will find that Hiro is up early too and not in the residence, having some meetings to get out of the way, presuably with Gwynn in the archeaology dept. « presumably » Vytor finds the cafeteria is not far away, in the center of a bunch of student dorms. They are serving breakfast, by the smell of it... Ah ^_^ * Niri lies sprawled in bed, the sheets tangled all over her and a pillow half over her head. Books lie all around the bed, some open, some with bookmarks in them, and several more stacked around the room. * Vytor waves to Saki and Trune as he walks by, "Morning!" * Niri snores softly and contentedly! * Trune doesn't look up, "Mornin'." * Saki takes a brief pause in her latest set of kicks to nod once at Vytor as he goes past. Either she's already eaten or is putting off going near campus food for as long as possible. * Ryllan sets out for breakfast, looking at Trune as he walks by, "Find anything out while the rest of us were sleepin'?" Breakfast looms large. Might want to grab some, as we don't know when we'll get another chance * Trune looks up, "Eh? Er...not really too much. I'm just jotting down what we found out so far. Got a couple of my own thoughts here, but eh...it's going really slow. Maybe I need some grub." Good idea. C'mon. *continues down the hall, pausing long enough to offer a morning greeting to Saki* * Vytor examines the breakfast foodstuffs, looking for something that will last for a while * Trune folds the papers up and stuffs them into an almost comically large backpack before joining Ryllan in their trek towards breakfast. Just as our intrepid band of hungry heroes is seeking the first meal of the day, the air seems to quiver for a moment. A few of the Hylan academy folk notice this, being sensitive to Elemental power shifts, and they stop for a moment from the hustle & bustle of the morning routine. Uh...you guys might want to watch your footing. [Student] Gah.. need my coffee... huh? * Vytor stops in mid-grab for the cafeteria door, although he's not sure why * Saki barely nods to Ryllan and the others as they go past, continuing in her routine; she stops dead mid-punch at the feeling, though. * Ryllan blinks, "Get under something solid! Now!" Why? Just as Ryllan bellows out his warning, the quivering of the air is matched by the shivering of the earth beneath your feet. Slowly at first it begins, and soon you feel like you are standing on a rollercoaster! Unsettling trend o_O Everyone around you but for a few bystanders are knocked to the floor as there's a huge *CRACK* that fills the air. Somewhere nearby a fissure is born a violent birth... * Vytor immediately loses his balance and falls over * Niri startles awake as her bed begins to shake wildly! "Aaaaah!" Flailing, she tumbles onto the floor.... Whathehuhgnnhhh? Several of Niri's books are strewn about and a few land on top of her. * Saki buckles for a moment, not expecting the sudden shift. When she recovers she doesn't need a second warning, bolting for the rest of the group. * Niri gently pushes a book off her faces and fumbles for her glasses. * Ryllan slams into Oh man, someone is gonna get it. «ooc: the wall. » What happened? I have no idea. My guess is someone was playing with magic they weren't ready for. The aftershocks continue, slowly fading away as they lessen in magnitude to a tiny tremor. Or we could all die horribly. * Ryllan rubs his head, "Earth split. Somewhere. Hard to tell where exactly." * Vytor stays on the ground, in case it decides to keep jumping * Saki leans her head against the wall for a moment, getting over the shock. When she straightens up, she's wide-eyed and incredulous. "And this happens often?"# «ooc: -# » Well...NO, but explosions happen quite a lot, because there are quite a few idiots here. To Vytor's relief, the ground is staying put. Some of the bewildered students near the cafeteria recover and start gossiping about what just happened. Is it over? * Niri scrambles into some clothes as the shaking dies down, adjusting her glasses and leaving fingerprints on the lenses. Her hair still in wild disarray from sleeping, she blinks blearily, mentally awake before her eyes are. She stumbles into a door frame as she enters the cafeteria. [Student] Think some Earth magic went awry? Maybe professor Ragnos was in a bad mood again. So...are they still serving breakfast? I think so Captian Mu- Argh. I'd forgotten why I don't usually like staying over at the school. * Trune turns around at the sound of the smack, and grins, "Hey, the Princess is here!" * Vytor waves to Niri as he works on getting back on his feet * Niri walks into the cafeteria, glares at Trune's comment, and starts to turn to make a retort and instead trips over Ryllan, falling smack into the floor. Oww!! * Trune bites his lip to try not to laugh, "Right, uh, and good mornin' to you too." * Ryllan sighs and bends to help Niri up, "Did you hit your head or something, Niri?" * Vytor dusts himself off * Niri sticks her tongue out at Trune! [Adept Guard] No, this was a little bit different. Be calm, everyone. We are investigating. * Saki sighs out heavily, and follows the group in. As much as she'd prefer not eating here, it beat being stuck in potential earthquake zone on your own. Oh, thanks, Ryllan. Ow. Nope, just bruised my shin. I think I got up a little too quickly...everything's all blurry. * Niri gets to her feet with Ryllan's help! So what's for breakfast? Let's find out * Vytor opens the door for everyone Eggs, scrambled softly? Considering the fact there was just an earthquake, the cafeteria doesn't seem to be too disrupted. Some plates and food are on the floor though, and the staff is hurredly cleaning them up before the morning rush comes in. * Niri follow Vytor, her stomach growling! Try wipin' your glasses off, Niri. They seem a little dusty - Hey, food. *follows* Hey, anyone seen my dad? *As she takes Ryllan's advice and cleans her glasses on her shirt* * Vytor inhales deeply, liking what he smells Can't say I have. Then again, I haven't looked Seriously, don't expect much in the cafeteria. It's deceptive as hell. Smells great, then you taste it and...well. Yeah. But don't take my word for it or anything. * Saki frowns at the guard for a moment, then shakes her head and follows silently after the group, making a face as she spies the inside of the cafeteria as if it had kicked a puppy or similar. "I found that out when I tried to get dinner." While not the best food, the eatery sure has about anything you could want for breakfast! There's plenty for everyone and more is cooking behind the serving line, by the looks of it. You recall you were given free meals by Haylee, just a signature will do at the checkout. * Vytor seems unconcerned about the taste, more about volume Niri noticed there's a crumpled note stuck to the side of her hastily donned clothes. * Niri piles her plate with some Belgian waffles and fresh strawberries and cream. ^_^ * Vytor grabs as much as his plate will manage, not being overly choosy about what it is * Niri reaches for the sausage patties, then notices a crinkling sound against her sleeve! She checks her jacket pocket and finds a note... * Ryllan piles up his plate, taking a little of everything, so much as he can manage. The note is from Hiro. It says he will meet you this afternoon to depart for the dig site, after taking care of some business with 'Grandpa'. * Trune grabs some cereal and milk, eyeing Niri's plate and everyone elses, then looks down at his own. . o O ( Damn, these people are chutes and they're just gonna shovel the whole kitchen in ) * Vytor grabs an empty table, and proceds to eat * Trune grabs a waffle so he doesn't feel left out in the group's binge fest, and heads to an empty table. You might think your appetites are big, but these casters-in-training not far from your group sure can wolf it down with the best of them. * Ryllan takes the same table as everyone else, chowing down with fervor. So, I get the impression people have been doing late night research on something, right? Mmmfgh? Er... * Trune swallows, "Yeah." Was it worthwhile? Yeah, we found out a whole lot last night... Where to start? The begiing please, using small words Well, first of all, we started by taking a look at the books Dad and I found in the ruins a few days ago. We went to this old building that still had a bunch of active security in it... * Niri waves a fork for emphasis Did the security involve forks? You wave one with such gusto. Anyway, we found a lot of weird stuff there, but also some books. I brought a bunch back. They're still transcribing them, but we could make some of it out. Basically, it was all about the "Elementalor Project" the ancients had going. We're not exactly sure what they were trying to do. * Vytor continues to eat as he listens It sounds as if these Elementalors are still in the ruins, though! There seemed to be something alive down there. What's more, they were doing some sort of experiments on them. I suspect they were trying to use them as weapons. :/ * Niri makes a face at Trune. We do know of some locations for all but one. One is fairly close to here...I think Niri was in the ruins, actually. It involved giant robots, if you must know. But I could take them ON with a fork. We found some names of Elementalors, their elements, and where they're being held. That is, if they're still there, like the one we saw was. Wait, you actually saw it? There was also some information on...let's see. *Niri digs in her pocket for some crumpled up notes she took* No, we didn't, but we saw some electronics that were still giving out readings on heartrate and stuff. It's a pretty safe bet something alive is in there. Ah. * Tanan wanders over to where the food is being served, and gathers a healthy assortment of fruits, oatmeal, a- ok actually he just grabs a big stack of pancakes. * Tanan then wanders over toward the table where everyone is * Niri hands Tanan the syrup! So, do we really want to go messing with these things? Ah. Thank you! Yes. * Saki stalks back to the table, holding a bowl and fork apparently stolen from the kitchens; inside is an elegantly-presented rice and omelette breakfast. Though she still looks dour as she sits down and lends an ear to the conversation, she definitely seems a little... smug. Er. I mean * Trune coughs, "...Well, aren't you at least intrested?" * Tanan eyes his pancakes, and then liberally applies the syrup as he listens to try to figure out what's being talked about. Well, here's the thing.... We may have to. As it is, if even the truth seekers don't stand a chance against this Prophetess... we may need to seek aid. I guess I'm a little curious about them, but from what you described, it doesn't sound like these things are set up in places the encourage visitors <> What we know is that the ancients were doing experiments on these Elementalors. We know they were alive, and maybe still are. And we know they wanted to use them for something - probably as weapons, though we can't be sure. There was also some stuff about something called Homonculi. We think they may have been experimented on. If you were experimented on and locked up for years, you «ooc: evil! » We think they may have been experimented on. If you were experimented on and locked up for years, you'd probably want out too. Near as we could tell, that was for using the Elementalor's powers remotely - so they could be kept locked up permanently and yet the ancients could use their powers. It hardly seems fair, does it? Thmmpmphh mmph mmhtmp. * Tanan swallows and sets down his fork for a second. "Sorry." Want to try that again, sans food? Are you sure there wasn't a reason to keep them locked up to begin with? Now, I don't know what, if anything, this all has to do with this Prophetess. And first we'd better see what we can do about stopping her and helping the Truth Seekers. But something's gotta be done about these Elementalors, too! * Trune goes quiet, picking at his half eaten waffle with a fork. There seems to be a commotion at the entrance to the building. The shouting of a young girl can be heard over the constant din of the main hall's chatter. I mean, I'm all in favor of not keeping people penned up for no reason, but if you go let them loose and it winds up.. I don't know.. blowing up... something? Oh forget it. * Tanan takes another bite * Niri looks at Tanan. "Uh, no, I don't. But still! It doesn't seem right!" * Vytor looks over at the door, apple still partly bitten in his mouth * Niri looks up, hearing the commotion [White-Haired Girl] Hey, let me in! Don't you know who I am?! * Trune looks up too, "The fun just keeps on rollin', doesn't it?" Speaking of which, anyone know what that quake was ab-.. hrm? * Saki stays slightly hunched over her food, enjoying the meal she won back from The Man. Hey, I know that voice! *Abandoning her food, Niri stands up and peers toward the door!* ? * Ryllan shakes his head, "Oh dear. Drama at breakfast." [Adept Guard] Now, now. Just calm down a moment! More girl drama and hijinks. * Vytor assumes Niri has the situation in hand, and resumes eating At the door is standing a rather short, white haired girl. She is stomping her foot impatiently, purple robes fluttering about her form as she does so. You are immediately attracted to her decidely pointy ears, possibly the indication of beast blood. She certainly has the temperment of one. * Niri approaches the guard. "That's my friend Leah! Family friend. Come on, I don't think she's going to attack the granola!" * Tanan mumbles something else around a mouthful, then mutters "Best table manners ever. Excellent first impression" to himself. I shoulda figured she was a friend of hers. Leah looks around the guard to spot Niri and smiles. [Leah] See, I told you I was important. Now stand aside...! [Adept Guard] Oh very welll... ^^; * Niri snickers at her friend's attitude. * Saki doesn't supply any editorials, instead leaning back a little in her seat as she savours the end of her meal. It's like some strange, food-based meditation. * Vytor pops the last half of the apple into his mouth and swallows it whole * Tanan stares at Vytor in mild disbelief. So, this is...who? Leah brushes past him and hops over to Niri, looking smug. But you can tell that behind her facade of strength, something's quite amiss. Someone important, I'd assume. Why don't you come join us and have a bite to eat while we talk about it? * Niri grabs Leah's forearm and steers her toward the table! Leah follows Niri to the table, having a seat next to her explorer friend. * Niri resumes work on her waffles and waits for Leah to either grab some food or explain! * Tanan gives a small wave to the newcomer. Niri would notice that the problem might be rather obvious. Her pet ice mongrel that usually follows her around isn't there. No little puppy begging for scraps under the table, it seems. I don't suppose it can be passed off as a coincidence anymore? Well, the rest of you guys can do what you want, but...Prophetess or no Prophetess, I at least have to help my friend first! ...After attending to these waffles, of course. * Niri chows down * Saki frowns and nods slowly. "I... agree." She glances over at Tanan. "Does that barrier stretch underground? It could be an attempt to attack the Academy." Wow, she can string sentences together! We can search the ruins, but I dunno about your dog. She may be yapping up in doggy heaven by now, especially if there's something hungry down there. * Tanan shrugs. "I'm not sure. They didn't make me privy to the defense mechanisms of the place when I started teaching. It could have been a failed attack, or.. who knows? Only three ways to find out." * Ryllan gives Trune The Look, "...Aaanyway, shall we go take a look?" * Vytor pops the last few strips of bacon into his mouth and swallows, "Might as well." * Trune ignores the look, "I don't do sugar coating. If we find it, great. But I hope the dog can fend for itself. Some people can't even fend for themselves, let alone a dog." Leah has some of the food, though she looks too distraught and impatient to eat too much. [Leah] I can fend for myself just fine. :/ * Vytor returns his tray I actually wasn't referring to you, but fine. * Tanan stands up. "Anyone object to wandering out there? L... eah, was it? Seems a little anxious to get going." I can help. It can't hurt to check. * Saki stands up, delivering the bowl directly to the kitchen. When she returns a moment later, she seems relieved to have something to do that isn't bookworming for a while. [Leah] That's right. I'm Leah Caldor, daughter of Laike the great adventurer. Hopefully Shiro's investigating something there already and is safe. Ready when you guys are * Trune actually raises an eyebrow and goes to bus off the dishes as well. * Tanan takes his dishes back, and wanders over looking more cheerful. "I should be putting progess reports together right now. Such a shame I forgot and got distracted by this." You all drop your trays in the clipper where they are grabbed up quickly by the skilled dishcleaners. What a great example of handy Water magic! * Vytor hefts his pack and heads outside * Ryllan takes his dishes off to wherever the dirty dishes are being stacked, then grabs his stuff and heads out. * Trune heads outside as well, grabbing an apple and banana for the road and stuffing it in his backpack. The sun shines nervously in the distance as the day progresses smoothly, despite the little interruption. Leah points to a path around the rear of the dorms and past the shopping district. * Niri follows Leah! * Saki follows the group, tugging on her gloves. As Niri starts following you do notice a lot more guards around the corners than usual. they don't bother with you, though. Being with the daughters of TWO famous people is a bit of a free pass.a * Niri seems unconcerned by the guards! * Ryllan drops a little behind, speaking quietly to the group, "Something's up." Maybe its the big hole in the ground? Umm, yeah, like a big earthquake? :P * Tanan opens his mouth to say something, but instead just nods to Vytor and Niri Leah dashes off to a series of small single family homes that set on a terrace overlooking the stores. Youc an tell that they are a bit amiss, having some trees leaning a bit and flower gardens torn up. A couple have shattered windows. * Trune opens his mouth to say something, but notes that Niri and Vytor actually said it before him, and shuts it. * Ryllan snrks, "Yes, but shouldn't they be guarding the hole?" There is a brightly lit cordon some distance away in the middle of the housing project, with a bunch of blue robed & armored Academy folks leaning down and inspecting the earth. * Tanan points. "I think they are." You can tell from the shape exactly where this "hole" lies. It seems where there was once a fountain is now a huge sinkhole. * Niri peers down into the sinkhole! Numerous tiny fissures spread out along the ground immediately nearby, disturbing perfect fences and globe-posts. Niri can't get close enough to look before a gruff guard is in her face. "Miss, please don't come too close. We are still securing this area." * Trune peers down as well, "Don't tumble in, Princess." Huh. What in the world could have caused this? * Trune then backs a good distance away. [Adept Investigator] Oh, prof. Tanan! Has the council sent you to aid us? * Niri edges away from Trune! ¬_¬ * Niri nods to the guard. "Well, we need to find out what's down there! My friend lost something important, too. :/ " (w) Yeah, her sanity. * Ryllan moves up towards the hole, "Magic?" he quips, shrugging expansively. Behave you two [Leah] Yes, that's right! My pet ran into that hole, plus I smell hidden treasures... * Tanan walks over towards the investigator. "Something like that. Can you tell us what happened?" Smell hidden treasures? [Adept Investigator] Well, near as we can tell the earthquake was highly unusual. It could have been caused by willforce, though the source was external to the city. . o O ( Right. She's nuts. ) Like someone tunneling in? Has anyone gone down? If they want in, why stop once you've broken through? [Adept Investigator] It is one of our theories. But these tunnels we have found do not seem to be recent.. indeed they are quite ancient. On the floor runs a form of rail system. Whoa! Awesome! [Adept Investigator] We are forming search teams now, but... Rails? [Adept Investigator] Seeing that you are very high profile explorers, perhaps you would like to help with your skills? R...rails? * Tanan sighs. "An old rail tunnel? I suppose we should take a look. Any objection to our-.. ah. Good." * Saki nods sharply at the guard. "We're going." [Adept Investigator] Yes, rails. Like a device would run along them.. a roadway of sorts. Y'know, I knew today was heading downhill. ....That was a horrible, horrible pun. * Randys is now known as Radien * Tanan glances at Ryllan. You try hard to not trip over yourself as you are assailed by a great darkness, and the remains of rusted out steel rails set upon planks of wood and nail. * Ryllan takes up the rear, sheperding others onto the stairs if he has to. * Niri whistles as she proceeds downward! [Leah] Ugh, so dark in here. :/ * Trune stops for a moment, looking a little disorented. Leah mumurs softly and creates a glowing globe of light from the air, dancing about her head. Nice trick So what do you think's down here, Leah? * Tanan holds a hand out, palm up, and makes a little sphere of light of his own, turning around to look at the walls. "Wonder how they didn't find this.." Maybe they didn't look too hard? * Saki comes even with Tanan, keeping careful eyes forwards. [Leah] I don't know exactly. It looks a little familiar... Leah tries calling out Shiro's name once, and it echoes.... There's just the sound of occasional dripping water and the ground settling. * Niri forges on ahead! Shiro! Here boy! *Whistles* Tanan notices the walls are very well constructed and smooth. Reinforced definitely. The tracks lead ahead in only one direction, but the shadows shift up ahead at what might be a junction. * Tanan runs a hand along the wall. "This place is propped up pretty well. We should be ok, as long as whatever hit this thing to begin with doesn't again." I wonder where all this goes? * Trune traces his hand along the wall, as if feeling for something. * Saki sticks to the front of the group as she heads on, wanting a clear shot at anything jumping out. Trune doesn't find much of interest. Though he does hit a spot of gelatinous goo. :o ...Ugh. ...Wait? Huh. * Trune takes a closer look. * Vytor discovers a rock by tripping over it The jelly-like substance is hardening, but was left here not long ago by... something. * Tanan holds up his light, apparently unable to make it float jauntily about his head. * Niri eyes the goo and pokes it carefully Up ahead, Niri and Saki find a place where the tracks split in two directions, and two equally identical tunnels. Weird. There is a lever off to the side of the rails, connected to a system of links that move a portion of the track. The goo is slightly tingly to the touch! It might have some acidic content. * Saki looks from passage to passage, and huffs out an unamused sigh. Which way? * Ryllan frowns, "Oh dear. Everyone look alive. Something... jelly-leaving is down here. Maybe it's just a kid with some jelly?" He almost looks hopeful. We could split up. Uh, no. I wouldn't do that! I've heard it said you should always go left. Forget where though... Trune! Do you believe in an afterlife? Well, we COULD have Niri go down this path and everyone else go down this one! Sound plan! You hear a bark break the silence off to the left fork. "arf!" ...Or we could go left! [Leah] That's Shiro! ...Well, that answers that. "Ack, which way was that?" Hurries off to investigate! Uh...Niri, maybe you might wanna slow down? This could be a trap! * Ryllan takes up the rear again, quietly wondering just what might be down here. A trap? Who on earth would set a trap out of an earthquake? * Niri forges on! Maybe the person who caused it in the first place? Are you that naive? O_o * Saki mutters, but keeps walking. "I can think of one person who might." Leah goes running off with Niri! The two make their way ahead into the darkness towards the sounds, but as they draw closer something from above drops onto them! It is cold and sticky and burns! [Leah] Agghh.. what the heck?! The party runs up to join them, as from the cieling drops some more blobs. These are much larger and seem to be moving... Oh crap. Look alive, people, they look alive! [Shiro] Arf arf! *it seems to understand Niri's question and points to the end of the tunnel.* Um, I mean. Nothing. It's nothing. * Saki looks over at Leah. She looks a bit reluctant to speak further on the matter, but... "... we're looking into a strange mage who caused ... panic at the Festival." [Leah] Oh.. that. The stories are flying about what occured. I missed the big event, it seems. Shiro hops down the tunnel a bit, wagging it's two tails. Hey guys, come on! *Motions in the direction Shiro is pointing* * Niri hurries after it! * Saki nods. "You could say that." And she keeps on a-walking. "Let's go." * Ryllan sighs, and follows. * Vytor follows, putting his hammer away for now * Trune walks behind the others, still looking around. Following the intrepid hound, you find that deeper in this tunnel sits a huge hulk of rusted metal. Well, not exactly a lump of metal... closer inspection reveals it to be a little like a coach on wheels, fitted to the twin rails that lay upon the floor. Time has preserved it fairly well, though some spots have that acidic goo corroding them down into the internal systems. I guess this thing was supposed to ride on these rails Whoo. Wish it still worked. Save me some footwork * Ryllan lets out a long, low whistle, "...Impressive." Hey, awesome... There are doors on the front and sides that are closed, but could possibly be pried open. through a broken window you can see seats lined up on it's walls and some storage crates near the back of the enclosed cabin. * Saki gives the thing a once-over, then glances around to check for other exits or dangers. * Vytor keeps watch while others explore There is nothing resembling the slime creatures here, only their handiwork. The tunnel continues on for away past the stalled train car, but ends apruptly in a rockslide from the quake. So much for that exit. Aw balls. Looks like it's the end of the line. Is this the way you came, Shiro? Shiro starts scratching at the train's front door. * Ryllan pokes into the storage crates. Wonder what's down the other tunnel.. * Niri tests the front door latch to see what Shiro wants. Ryllan finds these crates are a bit dishevelled from the shaking, and the ones that aren't sealed have opened slightly. With a bit of prying, he manages to open a couple... >> Ryllan finds an Earth Crux! * Saki inspects the landslide for a moment, then walks back to the group. >> Ryllan also finds a 2 Eyedrops and 2 Throat Drops. * Niri continues to work at trying to get the train's door open. * Ryllan hmms, "Interesting." He pockets the items for the moment, "Hey, Saki! Can you break something for me?" Niri finally gets the thing to budge! * Niri opens the door and peers inside cautiously. Inside you find a seat near a panel of lights and a small lever that swivels. It must be the driver's seat for this cab. * Trune climbs in the car finally, "Did you find anything?" * Vytor woners what all this underground railwork is for The driver's seat! I wonder if it works? * Niri pokes some buttons to see if there's any power. [Leah] It just might! * Saki walks over when she hears her name. "Mm?" * Ryllan points at the as-yet-unopened-crates, "Would you? It'd be nice." * Vytor get curious, and goes to check out the weird carriage * Saki frowns, eying the crates. "... I'm not one for fine-tune work. You realise the contents could get damaged?" Niri hits a few random buttons. Something clicks a few times, but nothing else happens. Vytor, being down below, notices the wheels in the front struggling to move and almost falling off. Hmmm. Shiro, is there anything important about this old wreck? Hmm. The train starts groaning a bit as it puffs some dust out from a couple vents. The axles are a bit damaged * Vytor goes to examine them a little closer * Ryllan nods, "It's fine, we don't get access to them without opening them either way, right?" Vytor finds a bar on the drive shaft is missing it's bolts and dragging on the ground. The bolts are lying underneath it, as the thing rattles crankily. Hmm Hang on a sec * Saki cracks her knuckles. "True enough." A quick moment of concentration then Saki suddenly slams a lightning-fast punch at the first lock. * Niri tries experimenting with some other control systems Hold on, Niri. I think Vytor's doing something. Um, okay. * Vytor goes to see if this axel works as he thinks it does, and tries some simple repairs Either this will fix it, or break it more >> POW! Saki's blow causes the steel lock to fly off and imbed pieces of itself in the floor. ...Remind me never to get you pissed at me. * Vytor jumps at the sound of Saki's efforts and bangs his head on the undercarrage * Saki looks quietly smug. "You said that last time, too." And does it to any others that need opening. OW! ...You okay down there? See! I obviously need reminders. I've been better >_< * Vytor resumes working Vytor struggles at first, but he begins to get the missing pieces in place... his hammer does a good enough job of getting the fasteners back in. he has just enough to get it reattached, keen eye finding the best points for support. >> saki goes busting up a few crates. One of them she hits too hard, and it is broken roughly. A fine potion spills all over. * Vytor extracts himself from the underside of the carrage, "OK, try getting it to move again." Okay, gotcha! *Presses the buttons again* * Saki huffs in irritation. Sure, she'd given a warning but there's such a thing as professional pride. Either way, she mentions to Ryllan. "All yours." >> In the others are: a Light Barrier, 2 Dried Herbs, and a Heal Ring. * Ryllan grins, "Thanks." Niri hits a few more switches and gets that clicking noise again. But this time it's follwoed by a distinct fshoom as the gears connect. The lights in the train suddenly come on. All right, we're in business! Whoa! Vytor, how did you do that?! O_o The magnetic driver for the wheels appears to be functioning down by Vytor... What? A wheel's a wheel. The Destiny had a similar design to it Yeah, but this thing is OLD, and you got it to work. I'm impressed. Not that impressive. Just a comple of bolts out of place * Trune shrugs, "Eh, whatever." Anyhow, we got wheels Leah waves to Vytor. "Whatever you did, I think we can move this thing. wasn't there a switch in that fork we passed?" Everyone aboard! Let's see where this thing goes. Back that way *indicates with his thumb* * Niri pets Shiro. ^_^ * Vytor climbs aboard [Shiro] Woof. *tail thumps contentedly on the floor* * Ryllan brings the loot to the cab, where everyone else is. All aboard! Off into the unknown, once again. And so the sleeping metallic wyrm is awakened, created to travel these lightless tunnels. Just where does the path lead next?
